Ralph M. Davis

Ralph M. Davis 77, of Kincaid, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 8:03 a.m. at his home in Kincaid, IL. He was born on October 22, 1942 in Jackson, OH to Jess and Hazel (Huff) Davis. Ralph married Candice Eskew on July 26, 2002. He retired as an Operator Engineer from Local #965 in Springfield, IL.

 

Ralph is survived by his wife, Candice Davis, of Kincaid; Sons: Jeff Davis of Alabama, Clint Davis of Edinburg, and step-son Jason Naylor of Washington, IL. 


He was a proud and loving grandfather.

 

Ralph will be cremated and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Nancy Kay Graham

Ms. Nancy Kay Graham, 63, of Taylorville, IL was called home to her Lord and Savior at 11:35 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2020 from her home in Taylorville.


She was born in Colorado Springs, CO on April 6, 1956 the daughter of Aldin and Jean Rae (Pierceall) Hanson. 

 

Nancy was born and raised in Colorado.  She graduated from Cheyenne High School in Colorado.  Nancy was a lover of: her church Tabernacle of Praise in Taylorville, IL, Chow Chow dogs, her cat of 20 years Sadie May, Crocheting, the Lord Jesus Christ, that purse of hers and especially all of her Grandchildren.  She was not bashful of trying to save people’s soul’s and turn them towards God.


Surviving are 4 daughters: Mary Sneed of Taylorville, IL Amber and husband Adam Kee of Taylorville, IL Ashley and husband Josh Howland of Hillsboro, IL Jodi and husband Joshua Bradley of Kingsland, GA. 1 son John LeBeane, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 sister and 2 brothers, several special best friends including  Sondra Hastings, Dawn Willard and Cheryl Adam, along with nieces, nephews and many others.


She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Joel Matthew, 2 brothers and 1 nephew.  


The family would like to make special mention of: Mr. Bradley and Annie Graham, Ms. Megan Lee and Ms. Mikki Willard for all their help during this most difficult time, “Thank You.” 


A memorial gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.  The gathering will conclude with memories shared by family and friends.  Condolences may be left at www.mastersonfh.com and will be forwarded to her family.
 

Virginia Florence "Jenny" Woodward

Virginia Florence “Jenny” Woodward, 90, of Taylorville passed away at 11:15p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  She was born on April 25, 1929 in Elkhorn, West Virginia, the daughter of Edwin and Florence (Elliot) Clooney.  She married Bernard Olin “Woody” Woodward on July 29, 1977 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death.  Jenny previously worked as a waitress at One Mile Inn and Ray’s Place.  She enjoyed gardening, tending to her rose bushes, and reading.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Victoria Richards (Dick) of Franklin, North Carolina; stepdaughters: Marcia Mack (Rick) of Poulsbo, Washington, Marilee Doan (Rick) of Taylorville, and Lynn Callan of Stonington; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Rick Winfrey; 1 brother and 1 sister.

Mrs. Woodward will be cremated, and a private family inurnment will take place in the Morrisonville Cemetery.

Becky Ann Mazzotti

Becky Ann Mazzotti, 75, of Taylorville passed away at 5:12p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on April 9, 1944 in Taylorville, the daughter of Joe and Maxine (Achenbach) Brooks.  Becky married Johnn E. Mazzotti on November 30, 1963 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2017.  Becky attended Brown’s Business College and was a homemaker.  Becky and Johnn enjoyed trips to the casino and loved their beloved dogs, Missy & Mia.  More than anything, Becky was devoted to her family and adored the time spent with her grandchildren.  

 

She is survived by her daughters: Michelle “Shelli” Mazzotti-Smith (Marty) and Lori Hart (David) both of Taylorville; grandchildren: Zach Smith (Sammie Jo) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Morgan Smith of Fairview Heights, Jordan Foor of Taylorville and Victoria “Tori” Hart of Taylorville; great granddaughter: Allie; sister: Susan Pearce of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother-in-law: Jack Pearce Sr. and nephew: Jack Pearce Jr.

 

Mrs. Mazzotti will be cremated, and a memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  Private family inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be left to the American Lung Association or Christian County Animal Control.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pamela Elaine Kee

Pamela Elaine Kee, 64 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 3:33 a.m. in her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on June 8, 1955 in Pekin, IL the daughter of Walter and Fern (Robbins) Harker. She married James (Skip) Kee on September 21, 1973 in Pekin, IL and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2017.  
She is survived by her Daughters: Amie Kee, Amanda Kee, and Alicia Kee; Grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Cody Kee, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Kee, Kelsey Smith, Destiney Kee, Brandon Kee, Dondre Brown, Heavenly Jones, D’Angelo Jones, 9 Great Grandchildren and 1 on the way. She is also survived by her siblings: Tom (Margo) Smith of Texas, Becky (Jimmy) Lopez of Texas, Tina (Richard) May of East Peoria, IL; Diana Lovin of Iowa and Wally Harker of Taylorville, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and 2 granddaughters.
Pam will be cremated and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Barbara Kay Millburg

Barbara Kay Millburg, 70, of Taylorville, passed on from this life at 5:35 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

Barbara was born April 23, 1949 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Prentice Beckham and Godys (Duvall) Milburn.  She graduated from Butler High School in Louisville, and went on to earn her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Murray State University in Murray, KY, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

 

Barbara served as a public-school educator for 42 years, teaching kindergarten and first grade at North School, and later Chapter One Reading at Memorial School, both in Taylorville.  She cherished her work as a teacher, and the ability to positively impact so many children and families over the years, participating in additional activities like teaching homebound students and summer school.

 

Barbara married Terry Millburg on August 6, 1992 in Taylorville, and they enjoyed 27 years of marriage together.  She was a faithful member of Taylorville Christian Church, and participated in many activities and roles of service there, including Bible Study and Young at Heart.  Barbara assisted in many charitable activities for the community, including Meals on Wheels and Loving Arms Crisis Pregnancy Center.  She was a devoted member of the singing group, Harmony, and loved singing with her friends for the community.  Barbara was also a proud member of the University Women of Christian County sorority, as well as Xi Delta.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a giving and generous soul to all around her.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Della, Polly, and Joyce; brothers, Robert and P.B.; sister-in-law, Marie; and brothers-in-law, Roy, Bill, and Walter.

 

Barbara is survived by her husband, Terry Millburg of Taylorville; daughter, Jemma (née Cooper) Elliott of Stevenson Ranch, CA; son, Murray Cooper of Effingham; step-daughter, Shannon (husband, John) Millburg Shank of Rockford; step-sons, Steven (wife, Rachel) Millburg of Rockford and Nate (wife, Mindy) Millburg of Rolla, MO; grandchildren, Kaia Elliot of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Dakota, William, and Landyn Cooper of Effingham, Kyla, Grace, and Mia Shank of Rockford, Justice, Alex, and Suzie Millburg of Rockford, and Ethan, Stephen, Terry, Clark, and Jaden Millburg of Rolla, MO; sister-in-law, Susan Milburn of Vacaville, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Taylorville Christian Church, 1124 N. Webster Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.

 

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Taylorville Christian Church, with Pastor James Jones officiating.

 

Interment will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Percy DeWayne Wubker

Percy DeWayne Wubker, age 26 of Tovey and formerly of Beardstown, died Thursday, February 20, 2020.

 

He was born May 7, 1993 in Jacksonville and is the son of Paul and Nealy Kellam Wubker. He married Tiffany Enlow the daughter of Tony and Chris Pezze on October 1, 2016.

 

He is survived by his wife Tiffany Wubker of Tovey; four children Aubrey, Arianna, Kalem, and Amaya; his parents Paul and Nealy Wubker of Beardstown; his maternal grandmother Nancy Kellam of Beardstown; his paternal grandparents Charles and Carol Wubker of Beardstown; four brothers Landon, Shawn, Lucas, and Caleph; and six sisters Britta (husband Dustin) Duckwiler, Angie, Audrey (husband Warren) Rooffener, Ayeesha Fitch, Shonte Mueller, and Angie Lomelino. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Reverend Marion Neal Kellam.

 

Percy attended Beardstown School and graduated from Beardstown Charter School Learning Academy in the class of 2010. He had worked at Walmart, GSI, and most recently in Carlinville for Shay Coal Mine. Percy was a member of Beardstown Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed being outdoors, 4-wheeling, fishing, hunting, and even getting his toys a little dirty. His greatest love was his family and his children.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 24, 2020 at Beardstown Church of the Nazarene with an informal visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will also meet with friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at Beardstown Church of the Nazarene.

Virginia Helen Blanchetti

Virginia Helen Blanchetti, 92, of Taylorville passed away at 9:27p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on January 25, 1928 in Kincaid, the daughter of Roy and Marie (Kuntzman) Starks.  She married James A. Blanchetti on July 3, 1947 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1986.  Virginia was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo and boardgames.  

 

She is survived by her daughter: Julie Fields of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren: Robin Hibbits of Peoria, Arizona, Jake Blanchetti (Sara) of Taylorville, and Tiffany Stork (Adam) of Rochester; 8 great grandchildren; brothers: Jim Starks of Taylorville, Roy Starks (Dorothy) of South Carolina, and Bobby Starks of Washington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Tom Blanchetti; and brother: Tom Starks.

 

A graveside service for Virginia will take place at 3:00p.m. on Monday, February 24 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Guilda Rose Woodward

Guilda Rose Woodward. 93 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 11:14 am at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on January 1, 1927 in West Frankfort, IL the daughter of Roy C. & Nellie Rose (Spruell) Smith. She married George Robert “Bob” Woodward on September 7, 1946 in Taylorville, IL. Guilda was a bookkeeper for the McDonald Corporation and was a member of the Garden Club and Good Sam’s Camping Club.  She was an avid quilter and gardener and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed flowers, hummingbirds and baking Christmas cookies.


She is survived by her sons; Dave (Terri)Woodward of Odessa,TX and Steve (Jacki)Woodward of Stronghurst, IL., grandchildren: Jake(Shanna) Woodward of Decatur, IL, and Sara(Brad) Dyrstad of Odessa, TX. brother: Ken Smith of Taylorville, IL; sisters: Pat Jones of Taylorville, IL and Cathy Hunter of Taylorville, IL; great grandchildren; Payton Woodward, Addie Jo Woodward, Max Dyrstad and Nellie Dyrstad. She was preceded in death by her father; Roy C. Smith, her mother; Nellie Smith, brother; Roy Smith, and grandson; Jared Woodward.  


Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will be immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. James Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Joyce Earline Ballion

Joyce Earline Ballion, 88, of Mt. Auburn passed away at 6:27p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Mill Creek Care Center in Springfield.  She was born on March 5, 1931 in Mt. Auburn, the daughter of Earl and Helen (Watts) Scholes.  She married Turenne Victor “Sonny” Ballion on November 19, 1954 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2005.  Joyce graduated as Valedictorian in 1948 from Mt. Auburn High School and went on to attend Millikin University.  She worked many jobs throughout the years including secretary for Hershey-Bliss Law Office in Taylorville, Gene Kennedy Construction, and the Illinois Veterans Commission.  She served as bookkeeper for Christian County States Attorney, Alvin T. Durr.  While all her jobs were important to her, none were as meaningful as farming alongside her husband.  Joyce had a passion for farming and had a part in every aspect.  From doing field work, to walking beans, to helping birth cattle, she loved every aspect of farming.  She attended the Mt. Auburn Church of Christ where she was proud to be one of the oldest members.  Joyce was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mt. Auburn.  She and Sonny enjoyed their many trips to Las Vegas and the gambling boats throughout the years.  She enjoyed playing cards and Bunco and tending to her flower garden.  Joyce was known for the large number of chicken figurines that she collected over the years.  

 

She is survived by her children: Alan Reeter (Becky) of Mt. Auburn and Jan Hartwig (Tom) of Niantic; grandchildren: Kris Reeter of Seattle, Washington, Samantha Becker (Chad) of Batavia, and Sabrina Hartwig of Chicago; and sister: Marcia Montgomery of Mt. Auburn.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Vicky S. Ballion; and brother: Chuck Scholes.

 

Mrs. Ballion will be cremated, and a memorial service will take place at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Melissa Ebken officiating.  Visitation will take place from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service.  Following the service, inurnment will take place in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

 

Memorials may be made to the Five Loaves and Two Fish Food Pantry in Mt. Auburn.

Brenda S. Jones

Miss Brenda S. Jones, 75, of White Hall, IL formerly of Bulpitt, IL passed from this life Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at white Hall Nursing & Rehab Center.


She was born in Taylorville, IL Thursday, July 20, 1944 the daughter of Cledis E. and Opal Rexine (Austin) Jones, Sr.  She grew up in the Midland area attending Kincaid Schools.


Brenda first worked as a cook at The Frisina Hotel and later cooked at the Starlight in Kincaid.  She sold Avon and last worked in home health care.


Surviving are 3 sisters Julitta (Keith) Wingo of White Hall, IL Renee (Alan) Burchi and Rhonda Jones all of Kincaid, IL 2 brothers Cledis Jones, Jr. of Riverton, IL and Robert (Pamela) Jones of Morrisonville, IL along with several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers Larry Ray Jones and Russell “Rebel” Jones.


As per Brenda’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside services will be announced at a later date, to be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville, IL.  Masterson Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Kincaid is honored to be entrusted with her care.  Condolences may be left at www.mastersonfh.com which will be printed out and given to her family. 

Teressa Mae Rench

Teressa Mae Rench, 50 of Pana, IL passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 12:50 a.m. at her residence in Pana, IL. She was born on July 24, 1969 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Robert G. & Phyllis Marie (McKinney)Vaughn.  She married Larry Rench on December 16, 2006 in Pana, IL. Teressa was an LPN and a member of Christ’s Tabernacle and Nokomis Sportsmen’s Club. She enjoyed her family, cooking and camping and she was a lifelong hard worker and was always willing to help out anyone in need. 


Teressa is survived by her husband; Larry Rench of Pana, IL, sons; Brett Peters of Springfield, IL, Cody Rench of Pana, IL and Tyler Rench of Pana, IL, daughter; Traci(Nathan) Pollman of Assumption, IL, Grandchildren; Carson, Spencer & Ryker Peters, Taylen Caudle and Rhett Pollman, Brothers; Dennis(Kathi)Vaughn of Altamont, IL, Greg Vaughn of Herrick, IL, Rich Vaughn of Herrick, IL and Jim Vaughn of Pana, IL. There will be no formal services but there will be a Celebration of Life on March 1, 2020 at Eye of the Tiger in Tower Hill, IL from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Robert L. "Bob" Cummings

Mr. Robert L. “Bob” Cummings, 82, of Kincaid, IL passed from this life at 11:47 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL.
He was born in Palmer, IL Friday, May 7, 1937 the son of William and Anna (Gatewood) Cummings, Sr.  Mr. Cummings married Sandra E. Harriss on October 5, 1959 in Kincaid, IL and she preceded him in death May 21, 2010.
Robert retired from Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee, and was a member of the U.M.W.A.  He enjoyed mining, carpentry, metal fabrication, Blue Grass Music, riding the rail cars at the mine, and he also worked intermittently as a Teamster driving trucks.  “Bob” as he was affectionately known by all around the Midland area especially enjoyed socializing with his friends at Bart’s.
Surviving are his daughter Jenny Lyn Wolfe of Tovey, IL 3 grandchildren Charles Phillip Wolfe, Jr. and his significant other Catrice Dowd of Wisconsin Dells, WI Laci L. (husband Tim) Watson of Taylorville, IL and Robert H. Wolfe of Morrisonville, IL 6 great grandchildren Ava Elizabeth, Roman, Ellen, Alva, Dakota and Charlie, 2 sisters Jean Pagliai of Kincaid, IL Carolyn (husband Harry) Summers of Coello, IL 1 brother Richard Cummings of IN, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra, 4 sisters Grace Cornwell, Mary Ann Anderson, Shelby Behl, and Helen Booker along with 1 brother William Cummings, Jr.
Visitation for Mr. Robert “Bob” Cummings will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 22 at Masterson’s in Kincaid.  Rev. Jay A. Deem

Jay A. Deem, 99, died Thursday February 13, 2020 at 9:05 am in Taylorville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, Il. He was born December 23, 1920 in Alton, Il. 

 

Jay graduated from Alton High School and joined Owens Illinois Glass Co. He enlisted in the Navy with the start of WW2 and completed radio/radar training at Naval Training School, Treasure Island, there after joining the crew of the newly commissioned submarine USS Puffer. He served on all 8 war time patrols of the USS Puffer and received the silver star for his service. Following the war, he joined Illinois Bell Telephone Co. working there until his retirement. His hobbies included bicycling and amateur radio where he held an extra class license as W9GK. 

 

Jay was preceded in death by his wife Mary H. Deem (2008), his parents, and his brother, Clark.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jade Deem and Holly Deem; his two sons Jim Deem and Jake Deem; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.

 

Cremation has already occurred. Jay will be receiving a military service at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a date to be determined. Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jessica Carpenter

Jessica Carpenter, 31, of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Kincaid, IL passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 7:25p.m. at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN She was born on September 16, 1988 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Anton Golladay and Jerrilynn Waldrop-Carpenter.  She was a homemaker and loving mother, daughter, sister and niece. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Peggy Brun

Peggy Brun, 68 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11:18 p.m. in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. She was born on May 7, 1951 in Springfield, IL the daughter of David and Norma (Porter) Stone. She married Leslie Brun in 1991 in Taylorville, IL. Peggy was a cashier at Wal-Mart for over twenty-six years; she loved her family and enjoyed playing Scrabble and other board games with them, as well as taking occasional trips to the casino. 


She is survived by her husband: Leslie Brun of Taylorville, Daughters; Holly (Nate)Hapner of Taylorville and Melissa Hall also of Taylorville. Father; David Stone of Pana, IL, Four Grandchildren, brothers: Randy (Leann)Stone of Springfield, IL, David” Tom”Stone of Columbia, MO and Danny (Jessica)Stone of Mattoon, IL; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother.  

 

There will be no formal services but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sharon Kay Pierce

Sharon Kay Pierce, 78, of Taylorville passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.


Sharon was born April 28, 1941 in Taylorville, the daughter of Herschel and Rose (Maquet) Schroyer.  She graduated from Stonington High School in 1959, and went on to work for Illinois Consolidated as an operator.  Sharon left Consolidated to stay home and raise her kids, and later went back to work for Sangamon Paper Company where she eventually retired.  


Sharon was a devout member of Davis Memorial Christian Church, always volunteering to help with anything the church needed.  She also volunteered her time as a Girl Scout troop leader, and for Kid’s Club.  Sharon enjoyed reading, baking, traveling anywhere with a beach, and spoiling her grandchildren as much as possible.


She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ronald W. Schroyer.


Sharon is survived by her daughters, Lisa (husband, Gabe) Corey of Des Plaines, and Loretta (husband, Miguel) Bonilla of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Gabriel (wife, Elisabeth), Alexander (fiancée, Kinga Purta), George, Woodrow, Alecia, Samuel, and Louis Corey; brother, Roger (wife, Linda) Schroyer of Taylorville; sister-in-law, Dorris Schroyer of Taylorville; nephew, Steven Shroyer; and nieces, Stephanie Stivers and Sarah Heberling.


Cremation will be provided prior ceremonies.


Visitation & Memorial Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating.

Ernest D. "JR" Smith Jr.

Ernest D. “JR” Smith Jr., 65 of Effingham, passed away at 5:30p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020 in his residence.  He was born on December 26, 1954 in Taylorville, the son of Ernest D. Smith Sr. and Mary Ellen (Oller) Smith.  He married Ruth A. Hatley on December 30, 1987 in Edwardsville.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and worked in maintenance for the Bunn Corporation.  JR had a love for motorcycles, old trucks, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed keeping busy with handyman projects.  He will always be known as a good-hearted man.  More than anything he loved his family, especially his grandsons.  

 

He is survived by his wife: Ruth A. Smith of Effingham; sons: Brian Hatley of Effingham, Andrew Smith of Shelbyville, and Gabe Meece of Florida; mother: Mary Ellen Uhrick of Taylorville; step-father: Larry Uhrick of Quincy; grandchildren: Austin Edward Hatley of Taylorville, Jayden Asher Smith of Shelbyville, and the grandson who is expected: Talon Daniel Smith; brother: Harold “Ed” Smith (Pam) of Killeen, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his father; brothers: David Smith and Daniel Smith; nephews: Colley Kane Smith and David Wayne Smith; and grandparents: Vivian and Frank Oller.

 

The funeral service for Mr. Smith will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Richard F. Stout

Richard F. Stout, 93 of Taylorville, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 6:20 a.m. at Heritage Health Care Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 3, 1927 in Bridgeton, MO the son of E. Cleve and Ethel Ray Stout. He married Marjorie Evans in 1958. Richard was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy, and was a life member of Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM in Taylorville, Springfield Consistory, life member of the Ansar Shrine, VFW Post #4495 for 72 years, Teamsters Union for 40 years and was an FAA Certified Weather Station Technician at the Taylorville Air Port for 10 years. He worked as a manager and projectionist with Frisina Amusement Co. for 40 years, was a photographer and worked at the Kennedy Redi-Mix plant. 


His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Richard E. Stout of Las Vegas, NV; Rebecca (late Ron) Adams of Girard, IL and Michael (Tracy) Stout of Springfield, IL. As well as grandchildren: Lauren (John) Thompson, Joseph Stout, Gerald (Kim) Stout, Jessica (Travis) Healey, Jordan Stout, Kaeleb Hutchison, Tara Hutchison, DeAnna (Zach) Kettelkamp, Dillon Adams, Demeri Adams and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Sgt. Cleve H. Stout U.S. Army Air Corp. killed in action in WWII and two sisters: Francis Stout and Edna L. Hamilton.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, IL. Funeral Service will follow the visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. David L. Lowis

David L. Lowis, 61, of Morrisonville, IL passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 10, 2020.
 
David was born September 16, 1958 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Howard “Squab” and Wanda (Dowdy) Lowis.  He attended Morrisonville Schools, and went on to work for the Crown 3 Mine in Farmersville for 20 years.  David also worked for Farmer’s Trucking in Jacksonville, BBT in Waverly, and Randy’s On-Site Big Truck Repair as a mechanic.  Currently he was employed Lowis & Sons Tree Service in Morrisonville.

 

David married Brenda Barker on September 23, 2010 in Taylorville.  He was strong, hardworking, and loved his grandchildren more than anything.  David loved hogging for catfish, mushroom hunting, and tinkering with mechanic work.  He was a longtime member of the United Mine Worker Association.

 

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Don Lowis.

 

David is survived by his wife, Brenda Lowis of Taylorville; mother, Wanda Lowis of Taylorville; children, Molly (Rustin) Williams of Shelbyville, Adam Lowis of Taylorville, John (Patty) Lowis of Morrisonville, Kaci (D.J.) DeVore of Taylorville, and Amy (Shane) Skebe of Springfield; grandchildren, Kristen Goodwin, Logan, Drake, and Myles Williams, Thomas, Ava, Allison, and Luke Lowis, Trevor Abbott, Gage McCallum, Jaylynn DeVore, and Gage Price; siblings, Danny (Sandy) Lowis of Waverly Hall, GA, Doris Melvin of Tovey, Dale (Mary) Lowis of Palmer, Bill (Mary) Lowis of Morrisonville, Jean (Dana) Overcash of Esmond, ND, Dick Lowis of Palmer, Gary (Tammy) Lowis of Taylorville, Steve Lowis of Palmer, Vern (Maureen Dowdy) Lowis of Taylorville, and Jim (Dawn) Cummins of Interlochen, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael Allen Wasson

Michael Allen Wasson, 58 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 10:40 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born on December 11, 1961 in Taylorville, IL the son of Ivan L. Wasson and Virginia “Carol” (Coy) Boone. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army where he served 8 years. He also worked at Walmart in Taylorville.


He is survived by his Mother: Virginia “Carol” Boone of Taylorville, Brothers: Robert Wasson of Litchfield, IL; Ronald G. Beesley Jr of Taylorville, IL; Kenneth Boone of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Sue (Tracey) Hunt of Taylorville, IL; Pamela Fanning of Edinburg, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Harold and Myrtle Coy and his dad: Ivan Wasson.

Joseph R. O'Bryan

Joseph R. O’Bryan, 89, of Taylorville passed away at 6:50a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born on July 30, 1930 in Taylorville, the son of David and Anna (Allen) O’Bryan.  He married Marilyn Ruth Spresser on February 11, 1956 in Beardstown.  Mr. O’Bryan was a Veteran of the U.S.  Marine Corps and retired from Peabody Mine #10 where he worked for many years.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus.  Joe enjoyed his time outdoors and was an avid fisherman.  He spent many days fishing for Salmon in the waters of Michigan where he and Marilyn enjoyed camping.  He enjoyed tending to his garden and growing roses.  Joe was known all across town for the large tree in the front of their home that he decorated every year with countless, colorful homemade Christmas ornaments.  More than anything he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  

 

He is survived by his wife: Marilyn of Taylorville; children: John O’Bryan (Stephanie), Mark O’Bryan (Wendy), and Loretta O’Bryan, all of Taylorville; grandchildren: Kelly Schmitz (Paul) of St. Louis, Trevor O’Bryan of Taylorville, and Chelsey O’Bryan of Springfield; great grandchildren: Kyle, Rafe, Dane, and Reid Schmitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.

 

A funeral service for Joseph will take place at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at 1:00p.m.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials in Joseph’s honor may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Brenda E. Beamer

Mrs. Brenda E. Beamer, 78, of Bulpitt, IL passed away at 12:20 pm Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

She was born October 31, 1941 in Edwards, IL. She was the daughter of James H. and Leona A (Warren) Binegar. She married Elmer L. Beamer on December 6, 1958 in Taylorville, IL.

Brenda attended Kincaid High School and later went on to receive her GED. Brenda was a homemaker and served on the South Fork Sanitary District Board for 21 years and the Village Board of Bulpitt for many years. She enjoyed seeing and talking to her many customers at Taco Bell in Taylorville, IL where she worked for 19 years. Brenda loved going to her granddaughters sporting events. Brenda was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid where she was also a member of their Alter and Rosary Society.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years Mr. Elmer L. Beamer, 2 children Wendy M. Beal and James Bradley “Brad” Beamer all of Bulpitt, IL 2 granddaughters Brianna (Nick) Kessler of Granite City, IL and Jaclyn (Zach) Kunkler of Scott Air Force Base, Shiloh, IL 2 great grandchildren Emrie Kunkler and Ronan Kessler, a sister in law Ruthann Binegar of Kincaid, IL 2 nieces Laurie (Roscoe) Kirchhoff and Jane (Terry) Workman, Sr all of Bulpitt, IL 1 nephew Timothy (Michelle) Binegar of Mt. Vernon, IL along with several great nieces, great nephews as well as many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother Timothy L. Binegar.

Visitation for Mrs. Brenda Beamer will be held from 10 AM to 12 Noon, Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid, IL. Betty J. Rench, 71 of Nokomis passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 9:07 a.m. at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, IL. She was born on November 30, 1948 in Hillsboro, IL the daughter of Harvey John and Ruth Aleen (Engelman) Dirks. She married Carroll Dean Rench on March 9, 1968 in Ft. Worth, TX. and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2018. She retired as an accountant at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro, IL.

 

She is survived by her Sons: Larry Dean (Teressa) Rench of Nokomis; Eric Harvey (Tonya) Rench of Fillmore; Grandchildren: Traci Pollman, Brett Peters, Shawnee West, Cheyenne Lash, Cody Rench and Tyler Rench; Great-Grandchildren: Carson, Taylen, Spencer, Ryker, Rhett and Huntleigh; Sisters: Linda Waters; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Cinda Retherford, Brothers: Dave Dirks, John Dirks and Charles Dirks.
