David Jacobs of Taylorville

David Jacobs, 62, of Taylorville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10:24 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born December 7, 1952 in Springfield, IL the Son of Robert and Dolores (Moore) Jacobs. He was a retired Financial advisor.   

He is survived by his many dear friends including Merrycarol Rossoff-Belfiglio of NY, NY; Daughter: Elysa Kircher of Decatur, IL; Sons: Loren Jacobs of Bashaw, Alberta Canada; Sister: Debbie Kirby of Pawnee, IL; Brothers: Richard (Lynda) Jacobs of Taylorville, IL; Robert Jacobs of Pawnee, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation/Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan, IN. There will be no Funeral Service at this time.

Theresa W. Hughes of Palmer

Theresa W. Hughes, 75 of Palmer passed away at 11:10 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on December 21, 1939 at Palmer the daughter of Lloyd Leo and Bernadine Aldine (Durbin) Smith. She married James D. Hughes on September 29, 1956 at Illiopolis; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers.

Theresa was a homemaker, and also worked as a caregiver.

Survivors include: 2 Daughters, Peggy (husband, Steve) Brown of Palmer, IL and Sheryl (husband, Jordan) Podeschi of Taylorville, IL; 2 Sons, Ed (wife, Marilyn) Hughes of Edinburg, IL and Scott (wife, Mary) Hughes of Morrisonville, IL; Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 1 brother; 7 sisters; Several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1 at Perfetti Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Foster officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the family of Theresa Hughes to be used for a charity of their choice.

Donna K. Franklin of Taylorville

Donna K. Franklin, 74, of Taylorville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11:07 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born November 10, 1940 in Elizabethtown, IL, the Daughter of George Lewis and Bonnie Lee (Prince) Humphrey. She married Billy Franklin in 1983 in Florida and he later preceded her in death in 1985. She was the owner and operator of the Loading Zone and the Northern Inn Taverns in Taylorville, IL. 

She is survived by her Daughters: Mary Scott of Taylorville, IL; Bonnie Kay (John) Matheney of Taylorville, IL; Pamela Schuyler-Muffick of Taylorville, IL Sons: Bobby Scott of Taylorville, IL; Stephen Scott of Taylorville, IL; David Scott of Taylorville, IL; Billy Scott of South Dakota; DonDee Humphrey of Taylorville, IL; Tommy Schuyler of Taylorville, IL; Sister: Anna Anthony of Taylorville, IL Several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her Sister Faye. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Allen H. Hamell of Taylorville

Allen H. Hamell, 78 of Taylorville, passed away at 7:00AM on Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on July 24, 1937 in Taylorville, the son of Darrell and Anna Catheryne Hoover Hamell.  On November 20, 1970 he married Brenda K. Woodall in Sharpsburg. 

Mr. Hamell worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.  He was a member of the Nazarene Church.  Allen served in the US Army and was a member of the VFW, Mound Lodge #122 AF&AM, and the Ansar Shrine.

Mr. Hamell is survived by his wife: Brenda Hamell of Taylorville; children: Phil Hamell, wife Tammy, of Mt. Auburn, and Lori Melzer of Stonington; sisters: Joyce Brodien of Hudsonville MI, Margaret Boarman of Taylorville, Beverly Sunderland of Xenia, and Debbie Hamell of Florida; brothers: Ricci Hamell, wife Lisa, of Taylorville, Tim Hamell of Taylorville, and Terry Hamell of Arizona; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bill Hamell, Robert Hamell, and Darrell Hamell; sisters: Susie Hamell, Louverda Cavatorta, and Patty Hamell.

A graveside inurnment with military honors will take place at 10:30AM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Ricci Hamell officiating.  Memorials may be left to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave, St Louis, MO 63131.

John L. Hartung Sr. of Bulpitt

John L. Hartung Sr., 86 of Bulpitt, passed away at 11:50 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in his home.  He was born on April 18, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Arthur and Lucille DePew Hartung.  John was a veteran of the US Army.  He worked as a diesel mechanic for the Bunn-o-matic Corporation. 

 John is survived by his children: Ann Marie Wyatt of Lake Alfred FL, John Hartung Jr., wife Lynn, of Junction City KS, Catherine Abbot, husband Paul, of Palm Beach Garden FL, Sandra Aide of Lake Alfred, FL,  Pamela Clinton of Kissimmee FL,  and James Hartung, wife Carrie, of Aurora CO; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter: Theresa Rusciolelli.

William Robert McPeek of Taylorville

William Robert McPeek, 58, of Taylorville passed away at 5:35 PM, Sunday August 23, 2015 in the Taylorville Memorial Hospital ER.  He was born on November 14, 1956 in Taylorville, the son of William C. and Betty J. Collins McPeek.  He married Rebecca S. McElroy on August 27, 1976 in Taylorville.  Mr. McPeek worked at GSI in Taylorville.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing. 

Mr. McPeek is survived by his wife: Becky McPeek, of Taylorville; mother: Betty McPeek, of Taylorville; Children: Misty Barlow, of Elwin, Chad McPeek, wife Robyn of Morrisonville, and Jared McPeek, wife Tara, of Stonington; Sister: Tracie Walker of Taylorville; Grandchildren: Dominique McPeek, Jasmine Guzzie, Nykolas McPeek, William McPeek, Zane Barlow, Makayla McPeek, and Tyler McPeek. He was preceded in death by his father: William C. McPeek, grandparents: Walter and Clara Collins, and George & Pearl Inez McPeek, and granddaughter: Alexus McPeek.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 5 until 8PM at McClure Funeral Home.  A private family funeral will be held on Thursday with Rev. James Whitaker officiating.  Mr. McPeek will be cremated following services and inurnment will take place at the Old Stonington Cemetery.

Lawrence I. Langan of Pana

Lawrence I. Langan, 65, of Pana, passed away at 10:17AM on Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Rosamond Township.  He was born on December 5, 1949 in Quincy, the son of Robert J. and Mary Jane Sheppard Langan.  He graduated from St. Mary Academy in Mt. Sterling IL.  He was a retired custom applicator for Christian County FS.  Larry was an avid field trialer and loved being with his dogs and horses. He was an Army veteran in Vietnam and a member of VFW post #4495.

Larry is survived by his wife: Pat Langan of Pana; children: Eric Dunn, wife Kari, of Shelbyville, Kara Langan, companion Todd Lynn, of Stonington, Sarah Langan of Taylorville, and Brad Langan, wife Dawn, of Taylorville, brothers: David Langan, wife Brenda, of Quincy and Thomas Langan of Mt. Sterling; sisters: Jeanette Shields, husband Gary, of Mt. Sterling, Connie Johnson, husband Don, of Dayton OH, Pam Urven, husband Don, of Griggsville, and Kim Gronwald, husband Jim, of Clayton; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter: Riley Dunn.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Robinson officiating.  Visitation will be from 10 until 11 at the funeral home.

Alice Viola Anderson DesCarpenter of Roswell, Georgia

Alice Viola Anderson DesCarpenter, 90, formerly of Taylorville, passed away peacefully at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, GA. 

She was born August 28, 1924 in Decatur, IL to James Otis Dewey Anderson and Hazel Estelle (Lemon) Anderson.  Alice graduated from Edinburg High School in 1943 and from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield in 1945.  As a young Nurse Cadet during WWII she worked in a California Army Hospital and later in Chicago at Cook County and Passavant (now Northwestern Memorial) Hospitals.  She attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.  She married Maurice DesCarpenter of Taylorville at Edinburg Christian Church on March 28, 1953.  Alice worked as a Registered Nurse doing private duty care for several Taylorville residents and later at Meadow Manor Nursing Home as charge nurse and as Director of Nursing for over 20 years.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice DesCarpenter on November 06, 2012.  She is survived by daughter, Jill Cox of Taylorville; son, Jeffrey DesCarpenter of Taylorville and daughter Michelle Ettenger of Alpharetta, GA.  She is also survived by her sister, Pauline Hains of Kansas City, KS and her brother Dwight Anderson of Springfield, IL; her grandchildren, Steven (Amanda) Gilpin of Forsyth, IL, Marc (Sheila) Gilpin of Marietta, GA, Aaron Dean of Taylorville, Jennifer (Chuck) Martz of Indianola, IA, April (Mark) Hannant of Taylorville, Bonnie Ward of Wichita, KS and Paula Galvan of Rosenberg, TX; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was also preceded in death by brothers William Anderson and Maynard Anderson and sisters Dorthy Talucci, Eugenia Cox, Colleen Armintrout, and Betty Sealock.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating.  Burial at Oak Hill Cemetary in Taylorville. Vernon McCoy of Mt. Auburn

Vernon McCoy, 85, of Mt. Auburn, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015  at his residence in Mt. Auburn. He was born April 12, 1930 in Marion, IL, the Son of Marion and Elizabeth McCoy. He married Dorothy May Hooper in 1965 in Decatur, IL and she later preceded him in death on November 27, 2009. He retired as the Owner and operator at McCoy Upholstery. 

He is survived by his Daughter: Leslie Netti of Boca Raton, FL; Step-Sons: Rick Payne of Huntington Beach, CA; Kurt Payne of Miami, FL; Grandchildren: Bridgette Bruitt, Michelle Lawson, David Hawthorne, Lori Nass, Shyler Clayton, David Meyier, Brian Schartzer, Wendy Hovis and Heather Netti; Twelve Great-Grandchildren; One Great-Great-Grandchild; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his wife.

Ella Mae Jackson of Springfield

Ella Mae Jackson, 78, of Edinburg, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 9:10 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born April 25, 1937 in Vandalia, IL, the Daughter of David and Mary (Gray) Womack. She married Mack Benjamin Jackson on November 3, 1956 in Union Christian Church in Ramsey, IL and he later preceded her in death on December 7, 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of the South Fork Church of Christ in Rural Rochester. 

She is survived by her Daughter: Phyllis (Kenneth) Rose of Springfield, IL; Son: Robert Jackson of Springfield, IL; Sisters: Erva (Richard) McMillan of Bunker Hill, IL; EvaDean Morefield of Ramsey, IL; Emerald (Jim) Smallwood of Findlay, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents and her Husband.

Marjorie Lyons, 83, of Taylorville, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 2:23 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born May 8, 1951 in Lowder, IL, the Daughter of Merle Wayne and Velma Lucille (Crouse) Summers. She married Raye L. Lyons on October 28, 1951 in Lowder, IL and he later preceded her in death on January 31, 2001. She was a homemaker and a member of the Louder United Methodist Church in Lowder, IL. 

She is survived by her Son: Louie (Dawne) Lyons of Taylorville, IL; Step-Son: Guy Harminson of Sullivan, IL; Granddaughter: Season Sherman of Taylorville, IL; Daughter-in-Law: Judy (Robert) Hollenbeck of Tennessee; Numerous Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Mary Hurley of Springfield, IL; Nellie (Irene) Campbell of Mt. Auburn, IL; Inez (Chuck) Vanhoos of Auburn, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Sara E. Sally Durbin of Taylorville

Sara E. “Sally” Durbin, 74, of Taylorville, IL died at 7:10 pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

She was born November 15, 1940 in Taylorville the daughter of Edward A. “Red” and Pauline M. Stilts Bland. On August 1, 1959 she married David L. Durbin at St. Mary’s in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1970. Sally graduated from Taylorville High School in 1958. She worked at Liberty Mutual from 1958 until 1961. She then worked for the Taylorville School System from 1961 to 1964. She retired from the United States Post Office in 1999 after 21 years of service.

She enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, horseback riding, roping, playing cards with family and friends and especially loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children: Gregory A. Durbin and wife Teresa of Taylorville, Diana E. Smith and husband Dennis of Taylorville and Bonny E. Brown and the late Dr. Jeffrey Brown of Lewiston, Idaho; Sister: Judy A. White and husband Bill of Taylorville; Nephews: Jeff White of Springfield and the late Jimmy White of Taylorville; Grandchildren: Samantha R. Farris and companion Derek Weichert of Taylorville, Ashley N. Stone of Taylorville, Seth A. Durbin U.S.M.C. of Japan, Deni T.E. Smith of Taylorville, Kodi J. Smith of Taylorville, Shannon Smith of Morrisonville and Kelly Smith of Taylorville. There are 9 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, David E. Bland.

There will be a Memorial Gathering from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Sunday, August 23 at McClure Funeral Home.

Nadine Kay Kramer, 76, of Bingham, IL, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 7:31 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. She was born December 8, 1938 in Bear Creek Township, IL, the Daughter of Harry Louis and Virginia Alberta (Campbell) Rathgeber. She married Ray Paul Kramer on March 1, 1964 in Morrisonville, IL. She worked as a homemaker and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, IL. She loved her Llasa Apso dogs, the Oak Ridge Boys, Sewing and Quilting.   

She is survived by her Husband: Ray Kramer of Bingham, IL; Daughters: Janice Kramer and husband (Mark Hayes) of Ramsey, IL; La Donna (Roger) Grass of Pflugerville, TX; Sons: Leslie (Tricia) Kramer of Brownstown, IL; Grandchildren: Kieara, Kelly, and Kiralyn Hayes; Derek, Laura and Emily Grass; Allan, and Robert Largen; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her Sister Carole Fay Myers.

Larry D. Rusher of Decatur

Larry D. Rusher, 73, of Stonington, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 9:44 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. He was born December 9, 1941 in Taylorville, IL, the son of William R. and Leena (Boiles) Rusher. He married Patricia Tabacchi on September 25, 1971 in Stonington, IL. He retired from worked as an airline employee for Ozark, TWA and American Airlines. He also served in the United States Air Force and he was the Commander of the Stonington American Legion in Stonington, IL. 

He is survived by his Wife: Patricia; Daughter: Tracie Roth of Stonington, IL; Son: Anthony (Jodi) Rusher of Stonington, IL; Grandchildren: Tyler and Shelby Roth of Stonington, IL; Gage and Ethan Rusher of Stonington, IL; Brother: Ron Rusher of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister: Connie and Brother: Bob.

Theresa Ann Unti of Libertyville

Theresa Ann Unti, age 89, passed away on August 13, 2015 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  She was born September 10, 1925 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Michael and Christina Marsaglia.

She worked as an accountant for Wilbert Burial Vaults in Broadview, IL for many years.

She is survived by her children Michael (Debra) Unti of Cary, IL, Karen (John) Zidlicky of Oswego, IL, grandchildren Beverly, Evelyn and Donny Unti of Cary, IL, Amanda (Aaron) Rusher of Yorkville, IL, Kristin and Matthew Hyde of Oswego, IL, great-grandchildren Ashton and Anderson Rusher of Yorkville, IL, Trypp Hyde of Oswego, IL, a sister Norma Duncan of Taylorville, IL and a niece Paula Jean Vansack of WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

John M. Walker of Clarksdale

John M. Walker, 64, of Clarksdale, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 12:55 a.m. at his residence in Clarksdale surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 29, 1951 in Taylorville, IL, the Son of Charles LaRue and Capitola (Landers) Walker. He married Jean Matthews on October 25, 1975 in Reno, Nevada. He was a retired coal mine Manager at several of the area mines. John was an avid sports fan and he coached little league for several years. He took the first 9 and 10 year old Little League all-star team to the championship.

William Dale Messersmith of El Paso, TX

William Dale Messersmith, 77, of El Paso, TX formerly of Taylorville died Monday August 3, 2015 in El Paso.

He was born October 11, 1937 in Taylorville, the son of William Laverne and Elizabeth Alma Dillehunt Messersmith. On September 10, 1960he married Barbara Ann Spinner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Springfield. He graduated from Kincaid High School and graduated from the University of Illinois with honors. He received his Masters Degree from Denver University. William was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons in Colorado, California, Washington, DC, Illinois and Texas. He worked in seven positions from parole officer to Associate Warden before his 1987 retirement in El Paso, TX. During his working years and retirement he was active in many community organizations including the Jaycees, War Eagles Museum in Santa Teresa, NM, Discover El Paso and St. Luke’s Catholic Church in El Paso.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Messersmith of El Paso, TX; Daughters: Susan Johnson and husband Chris of Carmel, IN, Eileen O’Malley and husband Terry of Aurora, Jacqueline Snyder and husband David of Naperville, Gina Julien and husband Gerry of Lakewood, CO and Deanne Saucedo and husband Randy of Lakewood, CO. There are 10 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service Friday in the Church.

Lee Ellis Dexheimer of Assumption

Lee Ellis Dexheimer, 60, of Assumption, IL formerly of Taylorville, died at 5:39 am Friday, August 7, 2015 at his home

He was born November 11, 1954 in Taylorville the son of John Phillip and Dorothy Eugenia Walter Dexheimer.  On October 25, 1986 he married Denise Kay Hoffman at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville.  Lee had been employed at Borg-Warner in Decatur and Hydrogear in Sullivan in Research and Development.  Most recently he was a substance abuse counselor at the Taylorville Correctional Center. He was a member of Taylorville Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife: Denise Dexheimer of Assumption, Daughter Alyssa Dexheimer of Assumption; Son: John Dexheimer and fiancée Taylor Pashia of Vandalia, MO and Twin Brother: Lynn A. Dexheimer of Morrisonville.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 11 at Taylorville Christian Church with Rev. James Jones and Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating.   Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville.

88 year-old Rozena Michael of Nokomis died Thursday at 9:03 p.m. at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Nokomis. Visitation is Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Burial will be in Nokomis. The Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is in charge of arrangements. 

Donald E. Stauder of Nokomis

Donald E. Stauder, 82, of Nokomis, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10:40 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. He was born May 24, 1933 in Audubon Township in Montgomery County, IL, the Son of Fred L. and Minnie (Eckoff) Stauder. He married Carole (Cearlock) Stauder on August 18, 1956 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, IL. He had worked at Hedlund Ski Factory in Nokomis and retired from Firestone after 32 years of service. Don had also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, IL, Knights of Columbus and the VFW.
He is survived by his Wife, Carole Stauder of Nokomis, IL; Son: Scott (Nicole) Stauder of Nokomis, IL; Daughters: Marla (Paul, Jr.) Marley of Oconee, IL; Glenda Decker of Nokomis, IL; Sheila (Marc) Gilpin of Marietta, GA; Five Grandchildren: Kayla, Kristen and Mason Stauder; Reagan and Austin Gilpin; Seven step grandchildren; Nine step Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother Alvin Stauder, Sister Dorothy Clotfelter, Son-in-law: Richard Decker.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis with Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Raymond Joseph Joe Legg of Taylorville

Raymond Joseph “Joe” Legg, 80, of Taylorville, IL called to his Heavenly home at 11:33 am Monday, August 3, 2015 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 22, 1935 in Morrisonville, IL the son of Raymond Franklin and Darlene G. Calvert Legg. On August 5, 1956 he married Romona Ann Zink at Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL. Joe worked for Ace Hardware for 33 years before retiring in 1996. He was manager of the Taylorville Ace Hardware from 1973 to 1991. Joe was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville. He was a Social Member of the Veteran’s Home in Taylorville and was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He had been an active member of Kids R Kids and was a past member of the Taylorville Optimist Club. He had also worked for several area auctioneers.

Surviving are his wife: Romona of Taylorville; Children: Marcy Durbin and finance Ken Koches of Edinburg, Edmund Legg and companion Becki Tuxhorn, Trudy Jo Denning and husband Michael, Dennis Atteberry and wife Cassandra and Carey Driskell all of Taylorville. Grandchildren: Raymond E. Durbin and wife Melissa of Metamora, Ryan E. Durbin and wife Lindsay of Roanoke IL , Randall E. Durbin and wife Mary of Tacoma, Washington, Richard E. Durbin of Edinburg, Payton Legg of West Palm Beach, FL, Kathleen Nicole Denning, JoAnn Lee Denning, Nicholas Atteberry, Lucas Atteberry and Sean Hammers all of Taylorville. Great Grandchildren: Issabella Durbin, Cheyenne Durbin, Joseph Durbin, Jacob Durbin, Maleigha Durbin and Madilynn Durbin. Brother: Leland Legg and wife Betty of Springfield and Sisters: Delores Fagan of Taylorville. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and one Uncle, Ralph Calvert and wife Velma of Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law: Jim Fagen.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 8 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Evanchak officiating. Burial will be in Fraley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday August 7 at the Funeral Home.

Shermaine (Sheri) Brady of Taylorville

Shermaine “Sheri” Brady, 76, of Taylorville, IL, died at 7:40 pm Friday, July 31, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center.

She was born August 31, 1938 in Livingston, Montana, the daughter of Sherman and Louella Thomas Culberson. On December 21, 1963 she married David M. Brady in Gainesville, Texas. Sheri was a homemaker.

Surviving are her children: Mark Brady of Taylorville, Mary Mundhenke and husband Bruce of Taylorville and Mindy Herman of Decatur. There are 5 Grandchildren: Kacey Burton, Jenny Niedbalski, Jacob Reber, David Brady and Abby Brady. A sister: Judy Lumsden and husband Keith of Oregon also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a grandson: Jake Brandis.

Sheri asked that upon her death her body be donated to medical studies at S.I.U. School of Medicine.
