Michael S. Coleman of Taylorville

Michael S. Coleman, 58, Taylorville, passed away January 28, 2012 at 1:21am at Rt 29 near Kennedy Road in Taylorville.  He was born August 31, 1953 in Pana, the son of Lorten Bruce and Ruth (Braughton) Coleman.  He was a machine operator for Catepillar Tractor Co. in Decatur.

He is survived by mother Ruth Coleman of Taylorville; son Cody Coleman of St. Augustine, FL.; daughter Erin (husband Ryan) Beaulieu of Palm Coast, FL; grandson Sebastian Michael Beaulieu and sister Brenda (husband Mark) Sarver of Herrick, IL.  He was preceded in death by his father Bruce Coleman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 am in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville with Rev. Ed Heppe officiating.  Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Herrick, IL.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 6-9pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Vivian Irene Durbin of Palmer

Vivian Irene Durbin, 93, formerly of Palmer died Friday January 27, 2012 at 1:15pm at the Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Taylorville. She was born May 27, 1918 to Orville W. and Nancy Elizabeth (Ballard) Nance. She married Isaac Thomas Durbin on March 17, 1934 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

She is survived by daughter: Edna Wofford of Taylorville, four grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, sisters: Lela Hazel and Bernadine McKinney both of Taylorville, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter, two sons-in law, great-grandson, four brothers, and five sisters.

Visitation with be from 10-11am on Monday, January 30th at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. Funeral Mass will be at 11am on January 30th at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer.

Ronald J. Albert of Salem

Ronald J. Albert, 95, formerly of Taylorville died Tuesday January 24, 2012 at 6:30pm at the Salem Hospital, Salem IL.  He was born October 21, 1916 in Salem IL to Joseph and LaVina (Beck) Albert.  He married Mildred Walsh in Edwardsville, IL.  She precedes in him in death in 1998.  He was retired form Norfolk and Western Railroad.  He was a US Army Veteran

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by parents, wife, step-daughter; Norma J. Branson, two brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services will be at 2:00pm Saturday January 28, 2012 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL with Donald Bettis officiating.

Cesar G. Sison of Taylorville

Cesar G. Sison, 77, of Taylorville,IL died at 3:00pm, Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at his residence.  He was born April 18, 1934 in Manila Phillipines, the son of Vincente and Iluminada Dela Gala Sison.  On December 16, 1970 he married Amor M. Mercado in Quezon City, Phillipines.  Cesar was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.  He was currently the Accounts Representative for Memorial Medical Center in Springfield and prior to that he held the same position at Christian County Medical Clinic.

Surviving are his wife, Amor Sison of Taylorville; Son: Jay Sison of Taylorville; Daughters: Lissa Sison of Taylorville, Sherie (Dan) Thorstenson of Chicago, Krissy Sison of Chicago and Mandy Sison of New York.  There are 4 grandchildren: Alannah smith, Arlennah Smith, Kayla Sison, and Hailey Sison.  Also Surviving is a brother Oscar Sison of Terre Haute, IN and two sisters: Elvira Carandang of Greenwood, IN and Nelia Sison of Terre Haute, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am Friday January 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Alan Hunter Officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00pm -6:00pm Thursday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville.

Helen A. Ronk of Nokomis

Helen A. Ronk, 90, of Racine, WI, formerly of Nokomis, IL. died January 21, 2012 at 7:15am at the Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, Racine, WI.  She was born September 2, 1921 in Racine, WI to Thomas and Josephine (Giardina) Collova.  She married Le Roy Ronk.  He preceded her in death in 1987.  She and her husband Le Roy purchased System Analyzer Corp in 1954.  In 1968 the name of the company was changed to Ronk Electrical Industries.  Helen was CFO and Chairman of the Board in Ronk Electrical Industries from 1987 to 2006 when she retired.

Survived by Step-son: Bruce (Judy) Ronk of Eau Claire, MI, Step-Daughter: Delores Prellberg of Bella Vista, AR; Special Niece and Nephews: Rosemary and Ron Klimowicz and Tom Catrine all of Racine, WI, nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and relatives and many dear friends.  Preceded in death by parents, husband; LeRoy

Daniel M. McWhinnie of Taylorville

Daniel M. McWhinnie, 85 of Taylorville, passed away January 23, 2012 at 4:15am at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.  He was born November 8, 1926 in Kincaid, the son of James Couglas and Helen Cecelia Foltynewicz McWhinnie.  He married Barbara E. Banko in May, 1952 in Taylorville and she preceded him in death in December, 2009.  Mr. McWhinnie had been employed at Georgia Pacific and retired from Peabody Mine #10.  He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, United Mine Worker's of America, Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 4495, American Legion Post 78 and the Eagles Club.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 12 noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 11:00am until time of service in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.

Brandy Nicholle McConnell of Edinburg

Brandy Nicholle McConnell, 30, of Edinburg, passed away January 22, 2012 at 1:40pm at her residence in Edinburg.  She was born September 6, 1981 in Decatur, the daughter of Daniel D. McConnell and Patricia J. Davidson McConnell.  She graduated from the Edinburg High School system, was active in softball and volleyball.  She loved her Labradors and sports very much. 

She is survived by father: Daniel D. McConnell of Edinburg, Mother and step-father Patricia J. (Timothy) Valtille of Riverton; paternal grandfather Robert McConnell of Edinburg; maternal grandparents, Bradley W. and Barbara L. Dunn of Decatur; brother, Brent (Teri) Barnett of Riverton; sister Mindy Barnett of Connecticut; 2 nieces, several great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Louise McConnell.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11:00am Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Vivian Eblin of Taylorville

Vivian Eblin, 79, of Taylorville, IL passed away in Gowin Parc, Pana IL on Sunday January 22, 2012 at 5:45a.m.  She was born March 12, 1932 in Prairie Farm, WI to Oscar and Nina (Moen) Westlund.  She married Robert LaClair Eblin, 1952 in the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua, Iowa.  She retired from Georgia Pacific after 25 years when the plant closed.  Vivian raised her family in Taylorville.  She will be greatly missed by children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved to play cards, marbles and spending time with the grand kids.  She was a great listener adn always offered encouragement.  She was always in a good mood, fun loving and never met a stranger.  She is leaving a lot of wonderful friends to go home with God.

Survived by son: Ron Eblin Companion (Tina Mundhenke) of Taylorville, IL; daughters: Yvonne (Bob) Yard of Taylorville, IL and Debbie (Kurt) Bangert of Nokomis, IL, Suzy (Bob) Anderson of Springfield, IL and Pam (Henry)Prehn of Taylorville, IL.  Grandchildren: Melanie, McKenzie, Stevi, Brittany, Klint, Taylor,Morgan, Brandon, Tanner,Nikki, Ryan andPaula.  Great Grandchildren Tyler, Mason, Cayden, Avery, Eli, Emery, Olivia, Jackson, Hannah, Hunter Eva,Leah Stephanie, Aiden, Ethan, Aliccia, Clayton, Davis,Liam, Savannah, Alexander, Lillian and Madeline.  Special Friend: Marvin Phares; Son-in-law: Randy ( Kathy) Gronewald.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters, Sheri Eblin and Dawn (Eblin) VanHooser.

June O'Bryan Popovich of Taylorville

June O'Bryan Popovich, 92, of Taylorville, IL died at her residence on January 21, 2012 at 10:25pm.  She was born on June 28, 1919 in May Township, Taylorville, IL for Dave W and Anna M Allen O'Bryan. She married George Popovich on August 30, 1937 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on September 15, 1985.  She was a homemaker and retired from the Taylorville High School Cafeteria.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family.  She enjoyed collecting dolls and glassware and playing games and cards. She was a past president of the Pawnee and Langleyville PTA, 4-H Leader, Sunday and Bible School Teacher, and founder of Pawnee Library; and was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by son: Larry Popovich (Fiance', Karen Leddy) of Aurora, CO. Survived by daughters: Sharron (Jim) Shotton of Taylorville, IL; Eileen (Fiance, Joe O'Brien) of St. Peters, MO; Karen "Suedy"(Alan) Collebrusco, of Taylorville, IL; Medolie (Jeff) Gaz of New Athens, IL; Melissa (Brad) Driskill of Taylorville, IL. Waneta Madge (Reichart) Sparks of Nokomis

Waneta Madge (Richart) Sparks, 87, of Nokomis, IL died January 19, 2012 @ 8:20 pm at the Nokomis Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Nokomis, IL.  She was born March 11, 1924 in Shelby County, IL to James Arthur and Lesta A. (Sands) Reichart.  She married James Michael Wood on May 15, 1940.  He preceded her on January 28, 1958.  She then married Charles M. Sparks on July 13, 1962 in Hillsboro, IL.  He preceded her in death in May of 2007.  She is a retired homemaker.  She graduated High School and was a member of Westervelt Christian Church.

She is survived by Sons; Thurman "Jake" (Loretta) Wood of Benton, IL, James Michael (Shirley) Wood of Benld, IL, Keith (Judy) Wood of Irving, IL. Daughters; Mrs Faye (Arthur) Conrad of Fillmore, IL and Maurica Ann Manley of Ramsey, IL; Step-Son Charles Sparks of El Paso, TX; Step-Daughter; Cheryl Britton of Bonners Ferry, ID; Sister, Audrey West of Shelbyville, IL; Several Grandchildren, several Step-Grandchildren; several Great-Grandchildren, Several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by: Parents, first husband: James Michael Wood and second Husband Charles M. Lela L. Carlton of Taylorville

Lela L. Carlton, 96, of Taylorville, passed away January 13, 2012 at 12:11am at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  She was born October 11, 1915 in Pana, the daughter of Fred and Susan (Denbow) Johnson.  She married Rev. Ross E. Carlton in October, 1939 in Pana.  She was a retired homemaker, a member of the Free Methodist Church, the Christian Women's Club and Women Missionary International. 

She is survived by sons; Gary (Berleen) Carlton of Cape Coral, FL and Paul (Quendy) Carlton of Decatur; daughter Virginia Sue (Carl) Charon of Boyne City, MI; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Ralph, Wayne and Walter Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11:00am in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Herbert Coates officiating.  Interment will be in Mound Cemetery in Pana.  Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 from 9-11am at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Geraldine L. Casey of Bingham

Geraldine L. Casey, 94, of Bingham, passed away January 11, 2012 at 2:25pm at Montgomery County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Taylor Springs, Il.  She was born November 13, 1917 in Montgomery, Co., Il., the daughter of Edward J. and Minnie (Hildebradt) Singler.  She married Edwin Harold Casey in March, 1937 in Vandalia.  He preceded her in death in December, 1995.  She was a retired homemaker and landowner. 

She is survived by sons:  Larry (Jane) Casey of Newton, Gerald (Laurna) Casey, and Keith (Terry) Casey of Bingham;daughter  Sharon Veach of Willow Hill; sister-in-law Thelma Singler of Nokomis; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons and one daughter in infancy; brother, Ken Singler and sister, Josephine Singler.

Juanita C. Yeaman-Kolkhorst of Taylorville

Juanita C. Yeaman-Kolkhorst, 80, of Taylorville, passed away January 11, 2012 at her residence in Taylorville.  She was born May 7, 1931 in Edinburg, the daughter of Fredrick and Nellie (Behl) Kunz.  She married Fredrick O. Yeaman in March, 1948, he preceded her in February, 2002.  She then married Harold Kolkhorst in May, 2006.  She was a door greeter at Wal-Mart in Taylorville for several years. 

She is survived by her husband Harold; daughters; Vickie (David) Prasun of Taylorville, Laurel Jacobs and Fiance (Mark Miller) of Pana; sister Catherine (Elmer) Requarth of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Ed Kunz, Herman Kunz, Fred (June) Kunz Jr; sisters Mary Kane, Clara Porter and Ada Marie (Johnny) Layman.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:00 am in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist and Pastor Scott Busacker officiating.  Interment will be in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg.  Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 from 5-8pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Linda M. Crouch of Taylorville

Linda M. Crouch, 62, of Taylorville, IL. died at 12:20 Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.  She was born August 15, 1949 in St. Charles, IL the daughter of Lewis S. and Vera Graham Foster.  On February 19, 1977 she married Stanley W. Crouch in St. Charles, IL,.  Mrs. Crouch was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, and was an office aide at Visionway Christian School.

Surviving are her husband Stanley Crouch of Taylorville; 2 sons: Bryan Crouch and David Crouch both of Taylorville, and a sister Rhonda Nelson and husband Robert of Batavia, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday January 12 at Taylorville Christian Church with Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville.

Robert E. Davis of Taylorville

Robert E. Davis, 88, of Taylorville passed away January 3, 2012 at 10:53 pm at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  He was born December 23, 1923 in Washington, Iowa, the son of James Henry and Blanche Alma (Knox) Davis.  He married Ellen L. Brown in June, 1950 in Taylorville.  He was a retired college professor at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.  He was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church, taught High School from 1949 to 1956 in Taylorville and taught at Arizona State University from 1959 to 1989 retiring and moving back to Taylorville.  He was a member of the National Communication Association and Arizona State University Retirees Association. 

He is survived by his wife Ellen L. Davis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Charles (Vivian) Brown of Rushville, Mildred (Bob) Garwood of Stonington, Milford Brown, Marilyn (Norman) Dixon, and Virgil Greffe all of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Martha Greffe. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 am in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Edith Irene Noblet of Taylorville

Edith Irene Noblet, 87, of Taylorville, IL died at 4:35am Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her residence.  She was born April 16, 1924 in Taylorville the daughter of Raymond and Paulena Zemke Hardin.  On August 14, 1946 she married Harold Noblet in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on Oct 31, 1998.  Mrs. Noblet was a homemaker and member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her sons; Kenneth Noblet of Kincaid, Daryl (Jane) Noblet and Robert (Kathy) Noblet all of Taylorville.  There are 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Henry Hardin and Russell Hardin.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday January 6, 2012 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Verna Lee Herman of Taylorville

 Verna Lee "Vernie" Herman, 85, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:37am Saturday, December 31, 2011 at her residence.  She was born August 11, 1926 in W. Frankfort, IL the daughter of John C and Irene Ezell Rogers.  On May 4, 1948 she married Thomas A. Herman at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on May 29, 2008.

Surviving are her children; Connie Havener and husband Richard, Thomas A. Herman II and wife Lucille, Mark L. Herman, and Brian C. Herman and Fiance' Tina Scallions all of Taylorville.  There are 13 grandchilren and 14 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are brother-in-law Bill Herman and wife Betty of Taylorville and sister-in-law Nona Clift of Des Moines, IA.

There will be no services or visitation at this time.  A celebration of Vernie's life will be held at a later date.
