Rosemary Brown

Rosemary Brown, 89, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on April 23, 1930 in Morris, Illinois the daughter of Lawrence E. and Bernice (Connor) Arneson.  She married William J. Brown on March 17, 1951 in Morris.  He preceded her in death on May 12, 2004.  Rosemary graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Morris and also attended Bradley University in Peoria.  She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for Brown & Sons. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the CD of A.  Rosemary was a 50-year member of the Taylorville Women’s Club and very active in the Christmas Home Tours.  She enjoyed playing Bridge for many years and loved her pets.  More than anything she was devoted to her family. 

 

She is survived by her children: Rita K. Werner of Taylorville, William M. “Bill” Brown of Irvine, California, Robert S. “Bob” Brown (Julie) of Taylorville, Mary Anne Oller (Jeff) of Houston, Texas, and Kathleen E. “Kathy” Driskell (Dave) of Taylorville; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son: Stephen L. Brown; parents; husband; brother: John L. Arneson; and grandson: Joe Brown.

 

A funeral mass for Rosemary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the church.  Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Joyce Ann Riley

Joyce Ann Riley, 79, of Herrick, IL passed away peacefully at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL with her loved ones by her side.

Joyce was born on November 25, 1939, in Marion, IL, the daughter of Henry and Maxine (Short) Hudgens. She and Steven Riley were united in holy matrimony on May 23, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV. Joyce was a homemaker who adored her family. She could usually be found watching baseball or volunteering with the little league. She was also a proud sponsor of little league.

Surviving are her husband, Steven Riley of Herrick, IL; sons: Jeffery (JoAnn) Ross of Cowden, IL, Gregory (Janine) Ross of Hesperia, CA and Steven Riley Jr. of Herrick, IL; 21 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and brother, Fred (DeAnne) Hudgens of Victorville, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dixie Forunier.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden, IL. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden. Memorials may be made in Joyce’s name to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospice, 503 N. Maple St., Effingham, IL 62401.

Larry D. Repscher

Larry D. Repscher, 59 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 7:54 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 17, 1960 in Taylorville, IL the son of Frank L. and Dorothy G. (Reber) Repscher. He married Janice S. Windell on February 22, 1992 in Taylorville, IL. Larry worked as a construction coordinator for Newwave Communications. He loved to fish and spend time on the family farm. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville.


He is survived by his Wife: Janice Repscher of Taylorville, IL; Brothers: Melvin (Rita) Repscher of Taylorville and Frank (Barbara) Repscher of Kihei, HI; Sister: Sherry Repscher of Salt Lake City, UT; his dogs: Ben and Cooper bear and Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece: Kiley Beckmier.


Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Memorial service will immediately follow the visitation starting at 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Maude A.M. Lambert

Maude A.M. Lambert, 103 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at her residence in Taylorville, IL. She was born on April 16, 1916 in Palmer, IL the daughter of Guy and Nina (Ginger) Moses. She married Dwight Lambert on December 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1990.  Maude was a retired business owner and operator of Lamberts Electric and Appliance Store in Taylorville for many years. She was an avid quilter and was known for her delicious pies and chicken and noodles.

 
She is survived by her Daughter: Marie Ann Lambert of Taylorville; two grandchildren: Dwighla Yard of Taylorville, IL and Chad Noreuil of Scottsdale, AZ; One great grandson: Zavier Noreuil of Scottsdale, AZ ;Daughter-in-Law: Kristina Baker of Kansas; Brothers Leroy Moses of Peoria, AZ and Norman (Judy) Moses of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Mabel Baker of Galesburg, IL and Lila Brooner of Independence, MO: nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: son: Terry Baker and Sisters-in-Law: Rose Moses and Irene Moses.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with the funeral service to be held immediately following the visitation on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.  Bonnie King will be officiating and the burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Taylorville, IL.

Tiffiany J Stengel

Tiffiany J Stengel, 37, of Kincaid passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 6th, 1982 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Mildred “Midge” (Gudgel) Willett of Kincaid and the late Richard “Rick” Stengel of Springfield.

 

Tiffiany graduated from South Fork High School in Kincaid and worked as a caretaker.  She enjoyed visiting with her mom who was her best friend and enjoyed the times they would have going to lunch, shopping and hanging out together.  

 

Tiffiany is preceded in death by her dad whom she loved very much.

 

She is survived by her Mother Midge and Step-father Dave Willett of Kincaid, her brother Richard Stengel of Spokane WA, her companion Travis Cook of Kincaid, her beloved Fur-babies Romeo and Snowball, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Masterson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kincaid.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm at Masterson Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL

Lela Geraldine Hazel

Lela Geraldine Hazel, 103 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 1:00 a.m. at her residence in Taylorville, IL. She was born on August 11, 1916 in Tower Hill, IL the daughter of Orville and Elizabeth (Ballard) Nance. She married Donald Durbin on September 19, 1933 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1957, then she married Marion Kelly Hazel on June 6, 1962 in Hillsboro, IL and he also preceded her in death in March of 2001. Lela Helped her husband on the farm and she also worked at Simplicity and Rothly Garment for 33 years. She loved reading, sewing, raising poultry, baking and planting flowers. She was also a prayer warrior for over 30 years.


She is survived by her Sons: Larry Durbin and Ed (Louella) Durbin both of Taylorville; Daughters: Judy (Robert) Graven of Taylorville and Beverly Dial of Taylorville, IL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Donald Durbin and Kelly Hazel, daughter: Clara Spain, daughter in infantcy: Josephine and grandchildren Michael Schmedeke, Craig Schmedeke, Andy Schmedeke, Dennis Enlow, Donald Eugene Durbin, Charles Lawrence Durbin and fourteen siblings.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL.

Thomas Duane Harvell

Thomas Duane Harvell, 77 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 4:49 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on May 1, 1942 in Brown County, IL the son of Dudley and Betty (VanHynning) Harvell. He married Karen Kay Orr on December 14, 1960 in the Free Methodist Church in Taylorville. Tom retired from Bridgestone Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and he was a member of the NRA, Illinois Forestry Program and NWTF. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

 
He is survived by his Wife: Karen Kay Harvell of Taylorville, IL; Son: Gerald Thomas (Kristy) Harvell of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Lori Lynn Herman of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Mallory Herman, Shelby Herman and Fiancé Keith Westbrook, Cheryl Casad, Samantha (Brian) Leach; Great-Grandchildren: Domanic and Kynslee Leach, Zayden McDowell, Nolyn and Kasyn Westbrook; Step-Grandchildren: Cierah, Quincy, Kylianna and Christian Leach; Sisters: Cherilyn Mundhenke of Morrisonville, IL; Christine Manzi of Henderson, NV, Kathy (Michael) Hemmer of Blodgett, OR, Melissa (Mark) Randolph Pueblo, CO; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma Jean Duncan

Ms. Norma Jean Duncan of Taylorville died on October 17, 2019 in Bayside Wisconsin. She was born on September 29, 1928 in Taylorville, the youngest daughter of Mike and Christine (Mecca) Marsaglia. With the exception of residing in Wisconsin for five years, she lived her lifetime in Taylorville. Norma graduated from Taylorville High School in 1946, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. She was employed as a receptionist for Liberty Mutual Insurance for 15 years, the Secretary of State office for 12 years and the Farm Service Agency for 6 years.


In December 1963 She married Paul Vansack. Their daughter Paula was born in 1967. In 1979, Norma married James L. Duncan. They later divorced. She is survived by her daughter, Paula, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom Marsaglia, and sisters Marie Peterson, Matilda Marsaglia and Teresa Unti.


Visitation will be on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 10:00-12:00 noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. Memorial Service will follow the visitation starting at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Michael Dean Bethard

Michael Dean Bethard, 69, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 2:12 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at his residence.

Michael was born November 2, 1949 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Loren “Pete” and Betty (Wilson) Bethard.  He married Janet Sue Spurgeon on November 4, 1968 in Morrisonville, IL.

 

Michael graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1967.  He owned and operated W.H. Kent. Inc. since 1985.  Michael was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville, and enjoyed trout fishing in Missouri.  Most of all, Michael enjoyed his time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Michael is survived by his wife, Sue Bethard of Morrisonville, IL; son, Michael E. (companion, Ann) Bethard of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Mindy (husband, Mike) Collingwood of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren, Tyler (wife, Kate) Collingwood, and Allison Collingwood, both of Taylorville, IL; siblings, Steve (wife, Jenny) Bethard, Phil (wife, Susan) Bethard, and Kim (husband, Dennis) Millburg, all of Morrisonville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 111 North St., Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating.

 

Inurnment will be held at Morrisonville Cemetery at a later date.

Martha Elizabeth Williams

Martha Elizabeth Williams, 86 of Effingham formerly of Kincaid passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11:20 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on August 8, 1933 in Logan County, IL the daughter of Ross and Lida (Byers) Williams. She worked as a secretary for an insurance company in Taylorville and was a devote Catholic.

 

She is survived by her Son: Michael (Veronica) Beaman of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Terri (Kyle) Taylor of Effingham, IL; Diane Bilyeu of Taylorville, IL; Eight Grandchildren; Nine Great-Grandchildren; Sister: Pat Reber of Taylorville, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Jack Beaman Jr. and several other relatives. 

 

It was Martha’s wishes to be cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.

Dennis Lyle McLaughlin

Dennis Lyle McLaughlin, 64 of Owaneco, died at 10:19 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Dennis was born on July 20, 1955 in Taylorville, the son of George and Doris (Matson) McLaughlin. He married Kathy Sherman on March 11, 1986 at the Owaneco United Methodist Church, where he was a member. He was also a member of the Laborers’ Local 159 out of Decatur and worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, a tradition he passed down to his son. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors, but above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dennis had a big heart and he will truly be missed.  

 

In addition to his wife Kathy of over 33 years, Dennis is survived by his son, Mark (Christy) Callaway of Owaneco, four grandchildren: Mark (Tahnee) Callaway, Ryan (Erin Creamer) Callaway, Keith Callaway, and Kylie Callaway; one great granddaughter: Kynlee Callaway; two brothers: Steve (Dolores) McLaughlin of Taylorville, and Scotty McLaughlin of Owaneco; as well as his mother: Doris McLaughlin of Owaneco; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dennis was preceded in death by his father and one brother: Bill McLaughlin.

 

Dennis’s family will host a service in his honor at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Owaneco United Methodist Church with Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Walker officiating. Inurnment will take place later at Owaneco Cemetery.

Mildred Marie Renken

Mildred Marie Renken, 91, of Effingham, IL, went to be with her Heavenly Father while being surrounded by her family at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at her residence.


Mildred M. Renken is survived by, daughter, Lois (Jon) Ruppert of Taylorville; son, Mark (Terri) of Kokomo, IN; five grandchildren, Gretchen Alaina Ruppert, Lane Ruppert, Faith Renken, Abigail Renken and Timothy Renken; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Glenn E. Renken, on December 18, 2010; her parents, Henry T. and Mary L. “Maime” (Deedrick) Oye; and siblings, Alvin, Edwin, Willie, and Harry Oye and Helen McCartney.


Mildred was born in Galton, Illinois on October 21, 1927, was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tuscola and graduated from Tuscola High School. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at Tuscola National Bank and Marine Bank in Springfield. She married Rev. Glenn E. Renken on June 25, 1961.
She loved being a pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, godmother and treasured her many friendships. Mildred and Rev. Glenn Renken’s 45 plus years of ministry in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod took them to Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Dieterich, IL and Altamont, IL.


She had been a Vacation Bible School superintendent for many years in both Iowa and Illinois. She was active in Dieterich community activities, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, holding many leadership positions, CID Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Pastor’s wives activities and Dieterich Ruritan.


She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, baking and cooking, bible studies, LWML activities, visiting her children, grandchildren, extended family and with her many friends. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.


Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with Rev. Dr. James F. Wright and Rev. Gary D. Fortkamp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Altamont. Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Mark D. Durbin

Mark D. Durbin, 59 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 1:16 a.m. Mark was born on August 27,1960 to Harold A. Durbin and Helen Dexheimer Durbin. He graduated in 1978 from Morrisonville High School. On November 28, 1981, he married Mary Jo Sloan. They raised three daughter's Mary, Mandi and Marsha. He spent his life working for area farmers and auctioneers. He was the owner of A-1 Taxi. He spent the past 5 years working for Battery Specialists and Golf Carts.

 

He is survived by his wife Mary Jo, his three daughter's Mary Mclean, Mandi Smith and Marsha Durbin and his son in law Rusty Smith. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren Tyler Durbin, Dalton Smith, Christina Durbin, Alexis Mclean, Jace Smith, Brody McLean, Andrew Tarrant and Ava Tullis. His sisters Carmeline Skinner, Nadine (Larry) Waterman, Rosemary Albright and brother Bruce (Angie) Durbin and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.


Visitation will be on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Memorial Service will follow the visitation starting at 3:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Judith Collene (Franklin) Bandy

Judith Collene (Franklin) Bandy, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 2:09 a.m. at Moweaqua Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Moweaqua, IL. She was born on July 16, 1931 in Warrensburg, IL the daughter of Ray and Jesse (Marvel) Franklin. She married Darrell L. Bandy on September 3, 1948 in Ft. Wayne, IN and they enjoyed 71 years together. She was a collector of many different items, and delighted in being a farmers wife. She graduated from Olney Central College with a degree in genealogy.

 

She is survived by her Husband: Darrell L. Bandy of Taylorville, IL; Son: T.R. Bandy of Phoenix, AZ; Daughter: Joyce (Bandy) Shafer of Palm Desert, CA; Grandchildren: Jessica (Yannick) Kpodar of Paris, France, Shad (Katie) Shafer of Libertyville, IL, and Courtney Shafer of Denver, CO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Sisters: H.G. Allen and I.M. Imstroyeck.

Margaret Sharon (Watson) Lyons

Margaret Sharon (Watson) Lyons, 73 of Taylorville formerly of Stonington passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 4:20 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born on January 14, 1946 in Stonington, IL the daughter of Joseph Howard and Beatrice (Lewis) Watson. Sharon as she was known to family as friends, was raised in Stonington, IL. After attending Stonington High School (class of ’64) she married Minor Dishon. She then moved to Taylorville in 1978. They later divorced. She retired and was quite skilled as a certified nurses assistant and home health care aide. She enjoyed books, crochet, trivia and bingo and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stonington. Sharons love was unconditional for her family, with that special kind of love for her grandchildren.

Lawrence E. Bramel

Lawrence E. Bramel, 78 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 3:50 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville, IL. He was born on March 5, 1941 in Taylorville, IL the son of Robert and Ophelia (Pallai) Bramel. Lawrence was a retired elementary school teacher in Taylorville and was a member of the United Federation of Dolls.

 

He is survived by his Brother: Frank Bramel of Mt. Auburn, IL; Niece: Darla (Mark) Cochran of Blue Mound, IL; Nephew: Don (Susan) Henderson of Mt. Auburn, IL; Great Nephew: Cody Henderson; Great Nieces: Libby Campbell, and Rhilee Cochran; Great-Great-Niece: Brynlee Maxine Campbell; Friend: Greg Midden; and several Cousins He was preceded in death by his Parents, Grandparents, and sister-in-law: Maxine Bramel.

Kenneth "Buck" Fisher, Sr

Kenneth “Buck” Fisher, Sr., 53, of Assumption, IL, passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at his residence.  Buck was born August 22, 1966 in Marion, IL, the son of John F. and Carol Ann (York) Fisher.  He married Kristine E. Newlin on October 4, 1987 in Mattoon, IL.

 

Buck graduated from Mattoon High School, and drove semi-trucks for a number of trucking companies over the years. He was ornery, tough, and funny, and would do anything that needed to be done to take care of his family.  Buck loved motorcycles, fast cars, and rock and roll, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Freddie Fisher.

 

Buck is survived by his wife, Kristine E. Fisher of Assumption, IL; children, Kaylee Fisher of Newton, IL, Kenneth A. (wife, Sarah) Fisher, Jr. of Mattoon, IL, Keashia (husband, Colton) Pettyjohn of Mattoon, IL, Kortney Fisher of Taylorville, IL, and Kendra Fisher of Assumption, IL; and 6 grandchildren.

Catherine M. Johnson

Catherine M. Johnson, 60 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 4:00p.m. at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana. She was born on August 23, 1959 in Taylorville the daughter of James A. and Dora Mae (Rohdemann) Kidd.  She worked at County Market in Taylorville for over 20 years in the bakery department and later retired.

She is survived by her Son: Jeremy A. Kidd of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Robyn Kidd of Dallas, TX. Brothers: James Alan Kidd of Mt. Carmel, IL and Adrian C. Kidd of Kincaid, IL. Sister: Joan Basil and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and Brother-in-Law: Charles E. Basil Sr.

 

In accordance with Catherine’s wishes she will be cremated with no visitation or funeral. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the Grace Baptist Church on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00a.m. with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating.

Don Edward Beane

Don Edward Beane, 85 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:45a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 25, 1934 in Staunton, Illinois, the son of Don Pleasant and Elizabeth (Graff) Beane.  He married Janice Blaine Gross on June 8, 1956 in Hillsboro.  She preceded him in death on November 25, 2015.  Don was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War serving in the Judge Advocate General Corps.  He attended Bradley University and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa.  Don began his law career in 1961 at the law firm of Hershey & Bliss in Taylorville before serving as the Christian County Assistant State’s Attorney and Public Defender. He also served as the Hearing Officer for the Illinois Fair Employment Practice Commission. He was appointed and served 13 years as an Associate Judge in the 4th Judicial Circuit as well as in Chicago.  Don was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Illinois Bar Association, and the Taylorville County Club.  He served on the Board of Directors at the First National Bank in Taylorville.  In his youth he was active in Boy Scouts having earned his Eagle Scout rank and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.  Don was a talented singer, having performed in his youth at the St. Louis Muni, and was offered a scholarship to Juilliard but opted to attend law school instead.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, especially pheasant and quail.


Don is survived by his children: Lysa Alias (William) of Oxford, Mississippi, Debra Bavetta (John) of Springfield, Trent Edward Beane (Lee) of Forsyth, and Tiffany Blaine Beane-Jones (Chad) of Summerfield, North Carolina; grandchildren: Lauren Alias, Matthew Alias, Alyssa Alias, Nicholas Bavetta, Dominic Bavetta, Vincent Bavetta, Amanda Beane, Christian Jones, and Savanah Jones; and his faithful companion, Waldo.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter: Tamara Beane.


Don will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Inurnment of Don and Jan will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Laura M. Kinney Gallion

Laura M. Kinney Gallion, 85 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 7:20 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born on September 30, 1934.  She married Donnor ”Pete” Kinney and he preceded her in death. She later married Bernard Gallion on June 17, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV.


Laura was a secretary at Hopper Paper, GSI and H&R Block until her retirement. She was an avid reader and loved to collect angels. Laura enjoyed traveling, going to casinos as well as going on cruises. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #1263 and was Illinois State Past Deputy Grand Regent.


She is survived by her Husband: Bernie Gallion of Taylorville, IL; Son: Steve (Joy) Reller of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Rhonda (Rusty) McLain of Rockton, IL. Grandchildren: Tonya Mahan of Austin, TX, Christie Reller of Springfield, IL, and Craig Reller of Dickinson, ND. Great grandson: Hayden Mahan and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her Moose daughter: Mickey Emerson. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and husband; Donnor “Pete” Kinney.

Kevin F. Noren

Kevin F. Noren, 65, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at his residence.  Kevin was born June 29, 1954 in Taylorville, the son of James A. and Mary Ann (Reish) Noren.  He married Nancy L. Romeo on September 5, 1987 in Taylorville.

 

Kevin graduated from Taylorville High School in 1972, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  After his time in the service, he graduated from the Police Academy in Champaign, IL, and went on to work for the City of Taylorville Police Department, and then the Christian County Sheriff’s Department as a Sheriff’s Deputy.  Following his retirement from the county, Kevin stayed on as an auxiliary deputy, and also went to work for Commonwealth Edison.  He and Nancy owned Creative Images photography studio, and Childhood Memories antique store in Taylorville for many years as well.  Later in life Kevin serviced gaming machines at many local Taylorville establishments.  He had many hobbies, but fishing, riding his motorcycles, and collecting antiques and classic cars were his favorite past-times.  Kevin was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Noren; brother, Dane “Poncho” Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicklas and Maxine (Smith) Romeo; and sister-in-law, Sonja (Romeo) Jeffrey.

 

Kevin is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Noren of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Roni (husband, James) Day of Taylorville, IL; granddaughters, Brooke (husband, Josh) McLeod and Alisa (significant other, Brandon Flynn) Noren, both of Taylorville, IL; great grandchildren, Lindsay, Beckett, Kayden, and Bowen; father, James A. Noren of Taylorville, IL; siblings, Richard J. (wife, Marcia) Noren of Somerset, KY, and Diane (husband, Leland) Miller-McCravy of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.

Deborah "Debi" Sloan

Deborah “Debi” Sloan, 62 of Taylorville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at 6:37p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in her home.  She was born on June 18, 1957 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Clyde Lewis and Ardena June (McPeek) Willard.  She married William Sloan on June 26, 1976 in Edinburg.  Debi previously worked at Service Advantage as a client services manager and as an executive secretary at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church.  Debi loved being outdoors, spending time boating, fishing and camping with Bill in their RV.  In the last few years Debi and Bill have enjoyed serving as campground hosts at Sangchris Lake State Park.  She loved to travel- spending time on the beach or cruises and shopping.  Debi had a love for music and enjoyed going to concerts.  More than anything she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.


Debi is survived by her husband: Bill Sloan; daughters: Carla Sloan (Ann Little) and Jessie Ervin (Tim); grandchildren: Leah Ervin and Will Ervin all of Taylorville, Jacob Little (Taylor) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Aaron Little of Highland; siblings: Dena Laymon of Taylorville, Robert Willard (Dawn) of Taylorville, and Jimmy Tolly (Sheryl) of Broomfield, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Randy Willard, Ricky Willard, and Michael Willard.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Dick Wamsley and Rev. James Jones officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Dale L. Daughtry

Dale L. Daughtry, 81 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 9:02 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on April 13, 1938 in Taylorville the son of Dale and Geraldine (Welge) Daughtry. He married Donna Kramer on November 4, 1956 in Millersville, IL.


Dale farmed for over 20 years.  During that time, he also opened his own sign shop where he worked as a sign writer and graphic artist.  He lettered and pinstriped signs and vehicles along with well-known funny cars, dragsters, pulling tractors and sprint cars. He took great pride in his work. In August 2004, Dale was inducted into the National Pinstriping Hall of Fame by Mack Brush Company. Upon retiring, he spent his time enjoying his family, especially his grandson and his dog, Scooter. He loved showing cars and was a member of several car clubs over the years including Frankie’s Cruisers.  He was a state rep to the National Street Machine/Van Division, lifetime member of the Case Collector Association, International Blade Association and was an NRA member. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

 

He is survived by his wife: Donna Daughtry of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Michelle (Todd) Chambers of Taylorville, IL; Grandson: Alex (Elysa) Chambers of Morrisonville, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Following the visitation will be a memorial service starting at 7:00 p.m with Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
