Juanita Louada Lou Richter of Taylorville

Juanita Louada “Lou” Richter, 75 years old of Taylorville passed away on September 26, 2013 at 1:25 p.m. in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on August 20, 1938 in Taylorville the daughter of Bennie & Juanita (Lamb)Hill. She married Robert Buckler they later divorced and then she married James Richter in October of 1978 in Springfield. She owned and operated Wee Willie Winkie Day Care Center and ARC Realtors in Taylorville and then later retired as a real estate agent and broker for Curvey Real Estate. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Taylorville. Lou is survived by her husband James, her daughter: Kathy Foster and companion Dave Rosenthal of Taylorville: Stepdaughters: Dianna(Paul)Boehm of Carlinville, IL, Angela(Stephen)Wendling of Taylorville, Julie(Troy)Kirkpatrick of Pawnee, and Lisa(David)Seiler of Owaneco, IL. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, a brother: Bennie(Linda)Hill Jr. of California and sisters: Ivaloue Ashbrook of Taylorville, Laoka Foster of Taylorville, Clarenna(Merrill)Bland of Charleston, and Bennita(Ed)Brower of Kansas. She was also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents and sons: William Buckler and Robert Howard Buckler(in infancy). Visitation will be on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 4:00-7:00p.m. in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013 in the funeral home.  Pastor Becky Lembke will be officiating with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery Taylorville.

Joseph H. Clark of Nokomis

Joseph H. Clark, 83, of Nokomis, IL passed away on September 24, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. at his residence in Nokomis, IL. He was born November 13, 1929 in Stonington, IL. The son of Joseph William and Mary Edna Clark. He married Fay Irene Patterson on May 27, 1961 in Fairfield, IL. He was a retired welder from Caterpillar Tractor Co. Mr. Clark was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, and the Knights of Columbus where he was an honorary lifetime member.

He is survived by his sons, Jim (Nancy) Clark of Streator, IL. Steve (Susan) Clark of West Lafayette, IN. Bob (Tammy) Clark of Lafayette, IN. and Wes (Beth) Clark of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle, Scott, Jason, Kristin, Zachary, Audriana, Derek, Madeline, Abigail, Wyatt, Owen, Wade, Joanna, and Matthew Clark; brothers, William “Floyd” (Irene) Clark of Nokomis, IL, Bernard Milford Clark “Chub” of Nokomis, IL; sister in-law, Mildred Clark of Hillsboro, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Judith L. Sims of Taylorville

Judith L. Sims, 65, of Taylorville, passed away on September 24, 2013 at 10:10 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. She was born June 8, 1948 in Taylorville, IL. The daughter of Cloyce “Turk” and Jean (Vidmar) Smith. She worked in housekeeping for the hotel industry. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville and an avid fan of the Antics and NASCAR.

She is survived by her son, Eric Eugene Sims of Taylorville; daughter, Tracy Lynn (Robert) DePriest of Springfield, IL; grandchild, Atheena Danielle Sims of Springfield, IL; brothers, Larry (Beth) Smith of AZ, Robert Smith of CA and Randy (Theresa) Smith of Anaheim, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard; sister-in-law Shelby Smith and nephew, Ricky Smith..

Leo E. Campbell of Mt. Auburn

Leo E. Campbell, 80, of Mt. Auburn, passed away on September 23, 2013 at 10:30 p.m. at the Eastview Terrace in Sullivan, IL. He was born July 23, 1933 in Mechanicsburg, IL. The son of Cecil and Ora (Miller) Campbell. He married Helen Marie Rench on February 9, 1962 in Taylorville, IL. She preceded him in death on November 16, 2003. He was a retired farm worker.

He is survived by his sons William R. (Lucy) Campbell of Mt. Auburn, IL and Steven E. (Deana) Campbell of Keystone Heights, FL; daughter, Donna Marie (David) Tipsword of Mt. Auburn, IL; several grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl, Richard and Robert; sisters, Polly, Frances, Doris, Cecile and Helen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie; son, Stacey; brothers, Larry and Lester Campbell; sister, Ruth Wahlsmith.

Chauncey M. Diss of Taylorville

Chauncey M. Diss, 90, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:00 pm Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Moweaqua Manor, Moweaqua, IL.

He was born December 30, 1922 in Taylorville the son of Chauncey Mitchell and Ruby Pearl Fortner Diss. On August 19, 1950 he married Anna Lee Hill at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. Mr. Diss was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 4495, and retired from Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company as a cable splicer.

Surviving are his sons: Jim Diss and wife Janet of Taylorville, Terry Diss and wife Michele of Charleston, and Robert Diss and wife Marge of Hanover, MD; Daughters: Barbara Jean Hayes of Taylorville and Linda Wiseman and husband Tom of Stonington. Brothers: Frank Diss and wife Christine of Taylorville, Kenneth Diss of Arnold, MO, Jesse Diss of Jefferson , GA, and Sisters: Ruth Flemming of St. Charles, MO, Mary Lawyer of Owaneco, and June Crane and husband Chuck of Yucca Valley, CA. Grandchildren: Carol Farnhum of Urbana, Megan Diss and Travis Diss of Charleston, Dasha Stephens and husband Mike of Stonington, Michelle Grim and husband Sean of Pesotum, Shannon Grim of Tuscola, Brian Diss and wife Cassie of Taylorville, Eric Diss of Colorado Springs, CO, and Paul Diss of Hanover, MD. There are 10 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Grandson: Thomas Wiseman, Granddaughter, Dana Diss, and brother Jack Diss.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 27 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Diss officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service in the funeral home on Friday.

Letitia M. Dunn of Taylorville

Letitia M. Dunn, 90, of Taylorville, IL died at 1:09 am Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Heritage Healthcare, Chillicothe, IL surrounded by her nephew, Larry Dunn and his wife Debbie.

She was born April 27, 1923 in London, England, the daughter of Arthur and Rosanna Keeley Feehelly. On July 17, 1945 she married Ralph C. Dunn in Eltham, England and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2001. Mrs. Dunn was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was a veteran of World War II with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (W.A.A.F.).

Surviving are Sister: Rose Butchers of Eltham, England, Nephews: Larry Dunn and wife Debbie of Chillicothe, IL, Barry Butchers of Kent, England, Derek Butchers of Eltham, England, Raymond Feehelly of Sydney, Australia; Niece: Rita Macangus of Eltham, England. Great Nephews: Ivan Feehelly of Sydney, Australia, Graham Butchers of London, England, and Danny Macangus of Eltham, England. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother: Arthur Feehelly, niece Ann Coats, and Nephew Arthur Feehelly.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, September 25 in Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in McClure Funeral Home.

Beulah Dorothy Fesser Whitten of Hillsboro

Beulah Dorothy Fesser Whitten, 97, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2:06 a.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro. She was born January 16, 1916 in rural Fillmore, IL. The Daughter of F. Ray and Pearl (Wright) Fesser. She married Floyd H. Whitten on October 12, 1940 in Rolla, MO and he later preceded her in death on March 22, 1998. She was a retired homemaker. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Fillmore Historical Society, Fillmore Homemakers, Fillmore Community School PTA, Fillmore Eastern Star, Fillmore Needle Work Club, Fillmore Cub Scout Den Mother, volunteer with American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and Salvation Army. She was also an avid rose gardener, a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan, and closely followed the Fighting Illini basketball team.

She is survived by her F. Dale Whitten, wife Linda of St. Louis, MO; Brother-In-Law: Donald Smith of San Marcos, TX; Sister-In-Law: Velma Rose Fesser of Hillsboro, IL; Nieces & Nephews: Rosalie Fesser of Ft. Warren G. Tilton of Taylorville

Warren G. Tilton, 92, of Taylorville, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 8:15 p.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. He was born April 21, 1921 in Blue Mound, IL. The Son of George and Izetta (Crutchfield) Tilton. He married Margie Ronchetto on April 24, 1942 and later married Fleta G. Hammonds on April 10, 1976 in Benton, IL. He retired as a coal miner from Peabody Coal Company. Mr. Tilton was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. Always known for his calm demeanor and steadfast work ethic, he was offered an officer training opportunity but chose to return to the Taylorville area where he worked in a variety of occupations, including construction and coal mining. He was a man who truly enjoyed working with his hands. Over the years, he took great pride in building three homes for his family. In his later years, he loved to “putter around the house” always on the lookout for something to fix or make work better. He also took great delight in “supervising” his grandson Lindsay’s efforts to take over the projects when his own hands became to arthritic to work. He was also a member of VFW Post #4495, American Legion Post #73.

He is survived by his Son: John “Jac” (Chris) Tilton of Dubuque, IA; Daughter: Yvonne Scott of Whittier, NC; Grandchildren: Doug Tilton of Dubuque, IA, Shannon (Dee) Wulf of East Troy, WI, Aaron Tilton of Berlin Germany, Alison (Todd) McArty of Belleville, IL, Kirsten (Peter) Bilan of Albuquerque, NM, Lindsay Funk of Darlington, PA, Mariella (Jon Byrd) Funk of St. Louis, MO; Thirteen Great-Grandchildren; Three Great-Great Grandchildren; Brother: Ronald Tilton of Kansas; Sisters: Eileen (Larry) Werner of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Both Wives, and Six Siblings.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Burial will be in Oak Hill in Taylorville.

Juanita Ellen McNeely of Taylorville

Juanita Ellen McNeely, 78, of Taylorville died at 9:47 am Saturday, September 21, 2013, at her residence.

 

She was born April 14, 1935 in Rural Chrisman, IL the daughter of Andrew and Shannon Katherine Hale Jensen.  On September 13, 1953 she married William “Dale” McNeely in Chrisman.  Juanita was a charter member of Taylorville Christian Church, a member of Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a co-owner at Kinsella, McNeely, Ryan and Markwell Insurance in Taylorville. Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, friends, and serving her Lord and Savior.

 

She is survived by her husband: Dale McNeely of Taylorville, Sons: Michael Dale McNeely and wife Karen of Bel Air, MD, and Gary Allen McNeely and wife Mary Elizabeth of Taylorville.  Brother: Robert Dean Jensen and wife Venita Ann of Taylorville, Brother-in-law: Charles McNeely and wife Jane of Orlando, FL and Sister-in-law: Barbara Pew and husband Ken of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren: Kristina Lamanna and husband Phil, Daniel McNeely and wife Sarah, Andrew McNeely and wife Janet, Ryan Flanders and wife Meghan, Ryan McNeely and wife Kristen, Lauren Bredehoeft and husband Joe, and Erin Bromley and husband Zach.  Great Grandchildren: L.J. Hanson, Fionna Suslee, Adam Lamanna, Caleb McNeely, Thea Suslee, Gabriella Lamanna, Cal Bromley, Noah McNeely, Adelyn McNeely, and Sloan Bromley.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 24 at Taylorville Christian Church with Rev. Larry Doggett officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday, September 23 at Taylorville Christian Church.

Leona Iona Kroenlein of Nokomis

Leona Iona Kroenlein, 103, of Nokomis, passed away on September 18, 2013 at 6:55 p.m. at the Nokomis Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Nokomis, IL. She was born July 9, 1910 in Montgomery County, IL; the daughter of Albert and Mary (Grimes) Howell. She married Ambrose G. Kroenlein on March 2, 1935 in Edwardsville, IL. She was a cook at the former Golden Manor Nursing Home in Nokomis and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist church of Nokomis and the Thrift Club of Nokomis, IL. She loved quilting and was a member of the Quilting Club of Nokomis for many years.

She is survived by her daughters-in-law, JoAnn Kroenlein and Janice Kroenlein both of Nokomis, IL; granddaughter, Kristi Sue Kroenlein and husband Steve Sherer of Peoria, IL; sister, Velma Nicks of Nokomis, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins, She was preceded by her parents, husband Ambrose, sons, Neil and Lyle Kroenlein; brother–in-law, Malcolm Kroenlein; sisters-in-law, Elvira Fish and Melvina Milar; grandson, Mark Kroenlein; two brothers and four sisters.

Charles Chuck Westerhouse of Taylorville

Charles “Chuck” Westerhouse, 62, of Taylorville, IL died at 5:02 pm, Monday, September 16, 2013 at his residence.

He was born September 8, 1951 in Lafayette, IN, the son of Charles and Nita Davis Westerhouse.  In 19 57 the family moved to Tamaroa, IL, and in 1968 the family moved to the East coast, but Chuck moved to DuQuoin, IL for his senior year of high school to play baseball.  He signed with the Atlanta Braves as a pitcher in 1969 and traveled most of the United States to fulfill his dream of playing ball in the major leagues.  He was traded to the San Diego Padres in the winter of 1971 and stayed with them until he was injured in 1973.

Chuck managed DQI Supply Company in Taylorville for 11 years before moving to Maine where he owned and operated Harris Baking Distributors.  He returned to Taylorville in 1991 as DQI’s sales manager and was later transferred to DuQuoin until 1998.  He then sold cars for three years in Southern Illinois and delivered for Pizza Hut in Taylorville for 8 years.

Chuck loved baseball and played or coached for 50 years.  He enjoyed bowling, gardening to share with others, his family and traveling with his granddaughter, Skye.  His family, friends and church, Davis Memorial Disciples of Christ were very important to him and he felt blessed for having all the help offered to him during his illness.

He married Patricia O’Connell in 1973 and they later divorced.  In 1993 he married Rebecca (Fowler) Buckley.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca; Children: Matthew Buckley of Springfield, Michael Westerhouse of Christopher, Katie DiPippo and husband Ron of Palm Coast, FL, Kimberly Westerhouse of Palm Coast, FL,  and Amanda Westerhouse of Crystal River, FL. Sisters: Mary Lou Rush and husband Tim of Cape Coral, FL, Laura Skorczewski and husband John of Nashville, IL and Jayne Kenniston and husband Ned of Reynolds, IN. Grandchildren: Skye Westerhouse of DuQuoin, and Taylynn and Hayden Buckley of Vandalia.  There are several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Adam Buckley and a siser, Claudia Foley

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 21 at Davis Memorial Christian Church with Rev.  Bill Kerns officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday at McClure Funeral Home and one hour prior to services in the Church on Saturday.

Helen Marie Servi of Taylorville

Helen Marie Servi, 88, of Taylorville, IL died at 3:50 pm Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

She was born May 5, 1925 in Clarksdale, IL the daughter of John W. and Jessie Pearl Pierson Neal. On February 12, 1950 she married John “Pete” Servi, who was the love of her live, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on March 19, 1986.  Mrs. Servi was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, A.S.C. Associate of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, V.F.W. Auxiliary and St. Vincent Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  She had been employed for 19 years at Taylorville Junior High School cafeteria. Helen loved watching the Cardinals both the bird and the ones from St. Louis. She was an active volunteer at the Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Taylorville Food Pantry and at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are her daughter: Marina Savoie of Peoria, Son: John G. (Janet) Servi of Taylorville; Grandchildren: Marisa (Keith) Tilly of Peoria, Matt (Brian Boyle) Savoie of Jamaica Plaine, NY, Tracy (Brian) Garwood of Forsyth, and Kim (Chris) Fieser of Creve Couer, MO.  She is also survived by a Sister: Audrey Pryer of McLeansboro, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 19, at 10:00 am in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Farther Alan Hunter officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 pm.

E. Richard Bails of Harvel

Mr. E. Richard Bails, 81, of Harvel passed away at his home on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:06 pm surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.

 

Richard was born on February 2, 1932 in Taylorville, IL.  He was the son of Everett and Ellen (McWard) Bails who preceded him in death.  He married Deanna Dudley of June 14, 1959 in Prophetstown, IL.

 

He was a graduate of Morrisonville High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.  Richard was engaged in farming all of his life in the Harvel area.

 

Mr. Bails was active in several organizations serving as: member and president of the Raymond-Harvel Kiwanis Club; member of the Harvel Village Board; member of the Christian County Farm Bureau Board and also served 17 years of the Christian Co Farm Supply Board; a 50 year member of the Morrisonville Masonic Lodge #681 and member of the Ansar Shrine in Springfield, IL.  He enjoyed his years with the Three Wheels of Ansar Shrine, participating in several parades each summer; member and elder on the First Presbyterian Church, Morrisonville he was a licensed Ham Radio operator and enjoyed his membership in the Christian Co Ham Radio Club.  He was an avid Cardinals fan.  He enjoyed traveling, photography, hunting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

 

In addition to his wife Deanna, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Lynn) Waldeck of Farmersville, IL and Linda (Curt) Poe of Williamsville, IL two sons Steven Bails of Raymond, IL and Jim (Annette) Bails of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Jarrod (Kara) Waldeck, Aaron (Briana) Waldeck, Jessica Waldeck and Nathan Waldeck; Caleb Poe, Josh, Drew and Lauren Bails; Keenan Gilpin and Morgan Bails; one sister Mary Ellen Wernsing of Springfield.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 17, 2012 in the First Presbyterian Church, Morrisonville, IL.  Rev. Jim Ferrill will officiate.  Burial will follow in Morrisonville Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm Monday, September 16th at Perfetti Funeral Home, Morrisonville, IL.  Memorials may be made to the University of Illinois College of ACES Scholarship Fund, the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department or The National Parkinson Foundation.

 

Geraldine M. Stauder of Nokomis

Geraldine M. Stauder, 85, of Nokomis, IL passed away on September 9, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. at the Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. She was born March 25, 1928 in Witt Tsp., IL; the daughter of Phillip W. and Lena (Epley) Stauder. She was a cook for the Two Brothers Restaurant. She also prepared meals for Father Hogan. Miss Stauder was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, IL

She is survived by her nephew, James (Lynne) Stauder of Nokomis; nieces, Sally (Doug) Keenan of Pana, IL and Sandra Stauder of Chatham, IL also several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Marvin; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stauder and niece, Suzanne Stauder.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at the St. Louis Catholic Church with Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Nokomis, IL.

Lyle K. Kroenlein of Nokomis

Lyle K. Kroenlein, 72, of Nokomis, IL, passed away on September 7, 2013 at 4:30 a.m. at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. He was born October 21, 1940 in Nokomis, IL; the son of Ambrose and Leona (Howell) Kroenlein. He married Janis Hadley on June 23, 1962 in Witt, IL. He was a retired machine operator at Bridgestone Firestone in Decatur, IL. He was a U. S. Army veteran, a member Nokomis Masonic Lodge #456 A.F. & A.M. and the Nokomis United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife, Janice of Nokomis; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi (Steve Sherer) Kroenlein of Peoria, IL; mother, Leona of Nokomis. He was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose; son, Mark in infancy; brother, Neil Kroenlein.

Geno DeRochi of Taylorville

Geno DeRochi, 96, of Taylorville, IL died at 4:07 pm Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1917 in Ladd, IL the son of Angelo and Anna Faoro DeRochi.  On June 5, 1948 he married Eleanor Wilcox in the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville.  He retired from Central Illinois Public Service Company and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and a 65 year member of the Taylorville V.F.W.

Surviving are his children: Debbie Amling and husband Rob of Tower Hill, Philip DeRochi and wife Kriss of Taylorville, Gina Thoele of Cantrall, and Barb Snodgrass and husband Fred of Virden. Grandchildren: Rochelle DeRochi, Elisha Schnieders and husband Brandon, Sacie Sherman and husband Glenn III, Emily Thoele, Willie Goebel and wife Laura, Jereme Goebel, Steven Snodgrass, Brian Snodgrass, and Laura Snodgrass. Great Grandchildren: Jamieson Schnieders and Gavin Schnieders, and Guiseppe Goebel and one Great-Great Granddaughter: Carmela Goebel.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Granddaughter, Natalie Goebel; Twin Daughters in infancy; Brother, Brune DeRochi; and a sister Jacqueline Watts.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 10, with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday at McClure Funeral Home.

Clarence Henry Ungerer of Taylorville

Clarence Henry Ungerer, 101, of Taylorville, IL died at 3:30 pm Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Gowin Parc in Taylorville.

He was born November 8, 1911 in Hawkeye, Iowa, the son of Henry J. and Anna Begalske Ungerer. On December 23, 1946 he married Velma L. Barnes in Los Angeles, CA. She preceded him in death on May 13. 2008. Mr. Ungerer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville and had been a farmer, carpenter and service station owner.

Surviving are his sons: Ron Ungerer and wife Sheryl of Xenia, OH. Arlan Ungerer and wife Marilee of Nashville, TN, and David Ungerer of Hawthorn, CA. Grandchildren: Jenni Stephens and husband Chad of Taylorville and Nicole Corso of Lincoln, IL. Great Grandchildren: Tyler Stephens of Taylorville, Trista Corso of Lincoln, Kevin Corso, of Taylorville, Kodi McNay and Jenna McNay both of Lincoln and Averi Stephens of Taylorville. Sister: Clara Louis of Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters: Elsie Winter and Mable Specher.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, September 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service in the church on Thursday.
