Martha Jane Haerr, 89 of Taylorville, died at 5:39 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center.

Martha was born on July 3, 1929, in Noble, Illinois, the daughter of William an Ethel (Atkins) Lagle. She graduated from Noble High School and went on to marry Harold Eugene Haerr on February 25, 1950 in Streator. Just shy of their 65th wedding anniversary, Harold passed away on February 12, 2015. Martha enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, tatting, embroidery, and anything to do with thread. She will be dearly missed.

Martha is survived by her two children: Otis (Marlis) Haerr of Taylorville, and Sylvia Geiling of Needville, Texas; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and her sisters-in-law: Marge Haerr and Mary Haerr, both of Olney. Along with her husband Harold, Martha was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

Ronnie L. Watkins, 67 of Taylorville (formerly of Pleasant Plains), lost his battle against cancer at 7:32 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018. Ron was born on June 1, 1951, in Springfield, the son of William and Marcella (Willis) Watkins. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Military Police, retiring in 1992 after 20 years. He then worked for the State of Illinois, retiring a second time in 2014. Ron married Shelia Gipson on March 28, 2008 in Taylorville, and she survives. Ron truly enjoyed life, whether riding his Harley, camping, or fishing, he always enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. He had a big heart that will be sorely missed.

Along with his loving wife, Shelia Watkins, Ron is survived by his daughters: Sarah (Jay) Vercilotti of Chandler, IN; Susi (Brett) Lopez of San Antonio, TX; Laura Calvert of Nokomis; Sons: Scott Watkins of Springfield; Robert Watkins of Bamburg, Germany; Erick Watkins of Bamburg, Germany; Brian Calvert of Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother: David (Connie) Watkins of New Berlin; sisters: Sandy (Ray) Barton of Springfield; Becky (Rod) Raps of Kansas City, MO; and Beth (Bob) Withers of Cantrall.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marcella Watkins; grandparents: Henry & Lettie Willis and Elmer & Frances Watkins; several aunts, uncles, and one niece.

It was Ronnie’s request to be cremated. A committal service will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to: the Alzheimer’s Association.

Shirley Dunkirk, 78 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 1:15 p.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on February 16, 1940 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Chester and Zelma (Peacher) Basil. She married Donald Dunkirk on February 16m 1957 in Kincaid, IL.

Robert Ellis, 66 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 5:17 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on July 25, 1952 in Lincoln, IL the son of Jack and Mary Helen (Lee) Ellis. He married Sandy Johnson and she preceded him in death. Robert worked as a bricklayer in the Bricklayers Union Local #8 in Springfield, IL. The world has lost a good, kind, gentle man.  His friends called him Cowboy. Although he had many endearing qualities, the one that stands out for many was his incredible wit. Cowboy would deliver a hilarious one line zinger when you least expected it.

Justin Craig, 32 of Springfield, IL passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:19 a.m. at his home in Springfield, IL after a long and brave battle against Ewing Sarcoma. He was born on March 9, 1986 in Taylorville, IL the son of Lori (Bill) Buschon and John (Marlene) Craig. He married his long-time fiancé Vanessa Martin on November 9, 2016 in Seattle, WA. He was the Senior Systems Engineer for Epic Games. Justin was an exceptional human being, who achieved far beyond the expectations of most his age. He was an incredibly giving, loving, and loyal husband and best friend to his wife. He was a very dedicated, understanding, and patient father to his special needs stepson and sons. He was a caring, respectful, and wonderful son and grandson. Family, honesty, and success were very important to Justin.  He was insightful and determined to leave his mark on this world, and he did.  He was so proud of his career with Epic Games, and so thankful to have been part of the world phenomenon that is Fortnite.  Justin was a rare soul indeed. He was humble, yet playful. He cherished family outings to the woods in Washington, and to the Cardinal games in St. Louis. Justin Craig will be forever missed, loved, and remembered.

Jeanne F. Boerio, 85 of Taylorville passed away at 9:57p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center. She was born on November 12, 1932 in Taylorville, the daughter of Michael T. and Rita L. (Falk) Trojcak. Jeanne attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Taylorville Township High School in 1950. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the CD of A. Jeanie worked many jobs throughout her life including at Myers Brothers in Springfield, various stores around the square in Taylorville, Sangamon Card Company, Georgia Pacific, Caterpillar, waitressed at many restaurants, and many years as a housekeeper. She has also been a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority for 20 years, was a member of the Women of the Moose, and volunteered at the Christian County Historical Society, and with the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active volunteer for the Illinois Heart Association for over 20 years where she previously served as a County and City Chairman and organized many special events. When her boys were younger, she spent several years as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Jeanne enjoyed dancing, skating, reading, needle work, and word puzzles.

Jeanne is survived by her sister: Doris Trojcak of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter-in-law: Gloria Boerio of Castle Rock, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons: Mark Boerio and Joseph Boerio, and on April 4, 2018 her brother: Fr. Ronald Trojcak.

A memorial mass for Jeanne will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11a.m. on Saturday in the church. Inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Joseph Robert Brown, 31 of Des Moines, IA, passed away of natural causes on Sept. 18, 2018 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on March 11, 1987 in Concord, Calif. He is a graduate of Walnut Creek High School in Des Moines and was working in the food services industry. Joe had a passion and talent for music from a very young age. He played bass guitar and loved playing music with his family. He cherished being a big brother to his younger sisters and he devoted much of his life to his loving partner Michelle and his many close friends. He loved watching movies, playing vintage video games, camping, being outdoors, and he always enjoyed a good Midwestern thunderstorm. He was devoted to his pets and will be terribly missed by his three loving cats: Leon, Juniper, and Gonzo. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his compassionate heart, and his amazing sense of humor. Although he left this Earth far too early, he will be kept alive in the hearts and memories of all the people whose lives he touched.

Joe is survived by his parents, Mary (Burton) Brown of Taylorville, and William and Tara Brown of Irvine, Calif. He also is survived by his brother Michael of Des Moines, lowa; sisters Victoria and Rachael Brown of Irvine, Calif; Grandmother: Rosemary Brown, uncle Robert and aunt Julie Brown of Taylorville, aunts Rita Werner, Kathleen (David) Driskell of Taylorville, Mary Anne (Jeffery) Oller of Houston, Texas, Donna (David) Hardin of Taylorville, Dorothy (Clete) Davis of Taylorville, and Nancy (Raymond) of Des Moines, Iowa and his partner Michelle McCullough. Joe also leaves behind many cousins, friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Gladys Burton, his paternal grandfather William J. Brown and his uncle Stephen L. Brown.

James Hal “Red” Phillips, 82 of Taylorville passed away at 5:00am on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Pana Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 24, 1935 in Broughton, Illinois, the son of Hal and Iva Lucille (Pyle) Phillips. He married Sue Ellen Millman on August 31, 1984 in Taylorville. James graduated from Eldorado High School and was a Union Boilermaker by trade. He was a member of the American Legion, attended the First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed being outside on his tractor. Red was a talented, life-long horseman, an interest that he shared with his wife Sue. James had an incredible love for his family, and cherished the time spent with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Sue Phillips of Taylorville; son: Russell Phillips (Carmen) of Paducah, Kentucky; step-children: Brent Morgan (Lori Trelz) of Taylorville and Danita Drake (Greg Miller) of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Max Phillips and Ashley Clark; step-grandchildren: Hunter Smith and Seth Morgan; great grandchildren: Draxton Aud, Owen Clark, and Davyn Aud; son-in-law: Robbie Crouse of Eldorado; brother: Edward Phillips (Bonnie) of McLeansboro; sister: Dana Gaines of Hominy, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. John R. Weaver, 70, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 5:27 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at his residence.

John was born January 24, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the son of Verne and Vera (Roberts) Weaver. Following high school, he proudly served our country in the United States Army. John went on to work for Norfolk Southern as a car man for 16 years, and then retired from Olin’s in Alton, IL. He enjoyed playing lap and pedal steel guitar, and was a long-time member of the VFW Post 4495 in Taylorville. John was also a CB radio enthusiast, using the handle “Red Dragon”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry Weaver.

John is survived by his brother, Patrick V. Weaver of Taylorville, IL; and many life-long friends.

Mrs. Marian “Ruth” Puccetti, 84, of Kincaid passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at her daughters home.

She was born January 6,1934 in Taylorville IL, the daughter of Gordon and Wilma (Davis) Alexander. She married Geno Puccetti in 1990 in Las Vegas and he preceded her in death in September 1992.

Marian was a member of Midland United Methodist Church in Kincaid. She first worked as a cook at South Fork Elementary School and retired in 1993 after 20 years with Midland Community bank. She was a member of the Red Hats and the South Fork Senior Citizens.She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, fishing and entertaining friends.  She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. 

Surviving are daughter Cynthia (Ed) Salter of Chatham, IL, two sons Gordon Crawford of Kincaid, and Douglas (Brigette) Crawford of Taylorville, and a daughter Jamie Springman and her companion Douglas Wright of Kincaid, six grandchildren, Jason Grauer, Ryan Grauer, Brittny Brewer, Rachael Crawford, Christian Springman, Logan Crawford, two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Jacob Grauer,  along with two sisters Marie Ziegler of Seattle WA, and Judy Pond of Bowman, ND and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Geno, one brother Russell Alexander and two sisters Betty Holzmer and JoAnn Alexander.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 15th at 11:30 am at Midland United Methodist Church in Kincaid. Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation for Mrs. Marian “Ruth” Puccetti will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Midland United Methodist Church.

Therese “Tee Tee” Anne (Crivello) Clarke, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 5:32 p.m. on Monday,

September 10, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Tee Tee was born August 23, 1929 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Anthony Bernard “Joe” and Thelma Agnes (Brooks) Crivello. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1947, and went on to attend Michigan State University, and eventually obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Sangamon State University. Tee Tee retired from Memorial School in Taylorville, where she was a Title 1 Reading Instructor for over 20 years.

Tee Tee was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, where she ran concessions for all school events for years. She had a passion for writing, authoring multiple books, authoring a column for the Carlinville paper for many years, and submitting editorials to the Breeze-Courier. She also took great pride in her “Empty Nest” newsletter, that she would send out monthly to her family and friends. She will be remembered not only for being patriotic and the St. Louis Cardinals #1 Fan, but for being the original loving, independent woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Kevin James Clarke.

Patricia Ganey left the world as she arrived on September 8, 2018 on her 92nd birthday. Born and raised in Taylorville, she attended high school at Ursuline Academy in Springfield, and Brown’s Business College in Springfield. As a matriarch of a large family, she prospered in delight of their lives, their children’s lives, and their children’s lives. This interest in family was only matched by her enthusiasm for sports – sports that bridged youth through professional. As a fixture at the Red Bland Little League Manner’s Park in the 1960’s, her interests evolved as those of her family. She was integral to St Mary’s Midgets Basketball concessions to support the team, and as a fan was unrivaled in her support for the Taylorville home side. Patricia Jane Kennedy was born September 8, 1926 in Taylorville to Malachy Leo Kennedy and Florence Ann Keiser who were born in Stonington, Illinois. The youngest of four children, 3 brothers Wayne, Robert, and John preceded her in death. Patricia was married to Michael (Mick) Ganey in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1994. Mick and Patricia relocated to Moultrie, Georgia in 1977 with Sangamon company, and both worked in Moultrie until Mick’s death. Patricia remained an active asset to the Moultrie community as a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and as stalwart fan of Colquitt County Packer sports. Patricia was known for not only being genuine but for her generosity with others. She gave and supported and expected optimism and integrity as assets that were never qualified. Quick with the aphorism and short of accepting excuses, she leaves 7 children, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren who each appreciate the spark of life she has shared with them. Each has offered remembrance that they felt like they were the special person in her life, and in fact that case can be made without exception of all she touched in every walk.

Grandchildren Nova Belote, Milisa Ganey, Margaret Ganey, Camille Ganey (Tim); Samantha (Brent) Sordyl, Colleen (Brian) Keilers (William), Crissy (Bryan) Strand, Michael (Chelsea) Ganey; Lucas, Hannah, Claire Mauer (Michelle); Annarose Schaad, Natalie (Felipe) Schaad de Bessa, Peter (Maggie Beneke) Schaad (Barbara); Kacey, Matthew, and Nate Creech (Mary Ann) will miss her recognition of each of their birthdays with a card and note. Great Grandchildren include Shannon Ganey-Stevenson (Milisa); Will, Oliver, Emmett, Lucas, and Harrison Sordyl (Samantha); Gerald, Noah. and Maddock Keilers (Colleen); Greta and Sarah Strand (Crissy); Nora and Clark Ganey (Michael); Sophie and Heidi Schaad (Annarose); Lua de Bessa (Natalie); and Oscar Schaad (Peter). They too have been given the inertia of pride in what you can do for others. In addition to Patricia’s immediate family, sister—in-law, Mrs. Mary Alice Schafer, and nieces and nephews all will miss her life in theirs.

Services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Cobb Funeral Home, Moultrie, Georgia. Family will receive friends from 6-8PM at 2441 Georgia Highway 37 West, Moultrie, Georgia.

A funeral mass and burial will be held in Taylorville, Illinois at St. Mary’s Church. Patricia was an active parishioner there for more than 50 years before moving to Moultrie, Georgia. A mass will be held at 10AM on Saturday, September 15, and the Reverend Robert (Father Bob) Porter celebrating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Illinois. Family will receive friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville on Friday evening, September 14 from 4-7PM.

Caroline “Carolyn” V. Curl-Johnson, 94 of Taylorville, died ay 11:54 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018 in her home.

Mrs. Johnson was born on January 22, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie Louise (Tibbie) Campbell. She graduated from Manteno High School and attended the University of Illinois where she studied home economics. She married Glenn W. Curl on June 28, 1947 in Kankakee, and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1979. She later married Harland M. Johnson on March 27, 1995 in Alabama and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1999. Mrs. Johnson was an active member of the Methodist churches in Manteno and Rochelle. She was a home maker most of her life, as well as an in-home caregiver. She also worked at a munitions plant during World War II. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, animals, art, sewing, and spending time outdoors.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her three daughters: Rita (Tyrone) Curl-Langager of Minot, ND, Norma (David) Oldham of Taylorville, and Mary Ann Carter of Red Lion, PA. In addition to her two husbands, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, her sister: Mary Drazy and husband Elbert, and her brother: Clarence Campbell and wife Evelyn.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Manteno Methodist Church, 255 W. 2nd Street, in Manteno with Rev. Joy Schlesselman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior, also in the church. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Manteno.

Clyde Ray “Bug” Jett Jr., 51 of Taylorville passed away at 8:45a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in his mother’s home surrounded by his family and friends. Clyde was born on January 10, 1967 in Taylorville, the son of Clyde R. and Joyce A. (Fecho) Jett Sr. He enjoyed working on construction projects. He also enjoyed fishing, was an avid pool player, and loved spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his mother: Joyce Jett of Taylorville; sister: Tanya Jett of Taylorville; nieces: Kendall Beck and Sierra Beck; several aunts, uncles, and cousins, companion: Michelle Hott, and his faithful furry friend, Bella. He was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral service for Clyde will be held at 5p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Chaplain Ricky Reed officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 until 5 on Sunday in the funeral home. Following services, Clyde will be cremated, and inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Geraldine Thompson, 75 of Palmer, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at 7:56 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center.

Born in Taylorville on April 6, 1943, Geraldine, a twin, was the last of 9 children born to Cordell and Ollie (Fuqua) Huffines. She married William Thompson on February 18, 1967 in Shawnee Town, IL, and he survives. Geraldine was a home maker and loved her family dearly. In addition to her family, she was also happily crazy about Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and NASCAR. She enjoyed playing Bingo. Geraldine also played rummy fiercely with her grandchildren, and she was very serious about her card games, never letting her grandchildren win. Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and her presence will be deeply missed by her family.

In addition to her husband of over 51 years, Geraldine is survived by her children: Kathy ( Shawn) McQuire of Moweaqua, Kyle Miller of Brownstown, Rhonda (Donnie) Martin of Taylorville, Susan (Robert) Taylor of Morrisonville; grandchildren: Carissa McQuire, Veronica McQuire, Ashley (Chris) Snow, Amanda McQuire, Maria (Paul) Parkin, Kenny Martin, Jakob McQuire, Kinley Miller; great grandchildren: Talan, Cameron, Hayden, Liam, Avalynn, Reese, Grayson, Myles; and many nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Lucille Harp, Louise Zake, Joanne Swinger, Juanita Orr, Rommie Huffines, Darlene Blevins, her twin: Terry Huffines, Diane Harter, and son-in-law: Gareld Belsher.

Per her wishes, Geraldine will be cremated, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Taylorville Care Center for their kindness and dedication.

Donald R. Adams, 83, of Taylorville, died September 4, 2018 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. Donald was born October 9, 1934 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Fred and Verna (Bryson) Morris. He married Connie Lewellyn in Assumption, IL, August 4, 1961. She survives.

Donald worked as a Mechanic for the US Postal Service and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Connie; son, Lane (Amy) Adams of Olivette, MO; daughter, Angie (Steve) Swiney of Woodstock, IL; grandchildren: Aden and Cerys Adams; and sisters: Sue (Claire) Adams of Owaneco, IL and Jane Ann Travis of Pana, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL.

Willard Paul “Popeye” Reber, 82 of Palmer passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 7:33 a.m. at his residence in Palmer, IL. He was born on December 23, 1935 in Taylorville, IL the son of Clyde F. and Stella P. (Walker) Reber. He married Ottilie E. Wolfe on September 7, 1960 in Mainz, West Germany and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2010. Willard was a retired 1st Sargent Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army and served 2 tours in Germany, 2 tours in Vietnam and 1 tour in Korea. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd airborne division and a drill Sargent in Ft. Ord, CA. After his retirement from the military he worked for Smith Bus Company for 10 years and Bob Ridings in Taylorville for 5 years.

He is survived by his Sister-in-Law: Debbie Reber of Taylorville, IL and several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial will be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville with military graveside honors.

Betty Jane Waterman, 91, of Carmichaels, PA, died at 3:35 P.M. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Waterman was born October 11, 1926 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Marie Anna (Hielscher) Melzer. She was a graduate of Taylorville High School and resided in Carmichaels, PA since 1958. On March 30, 1947 she married William E. Waterman, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1986. She was a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels, where she was a member of the Woman in the Church, taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for over 50 years, and was the director of Christian education. Mrs. Waterman was instrumental in leading many children to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the former Ideal Chapter No. 213, O. E. S., Masontown, PA, and a current member of Uniontown Chapter No. 263, O. E. S. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar Melzer, Monroe Melzer, Gus Melzer and Rudolph Melzer; and sister, Ramona Leitschuh.
 

Mrs. Waterman is survived by her son, Carl W. (wife, Linda) Waterman of Stockbridge, GA; three grandchildren, Malichi (wife, Krista) Waterman, Erik (wife, Sandra) Waterman, and Brendan (wife, Leybel) Waterman; five great grandchildren, Jackson, John, Jacob, Christopher and William; sister, Rudolphine Pranske of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters-in-law, LaVerne Melzer, Helen Melzer and Marian Melzer; several nieces and nephews and a precious friend, Jessica Frederick Nicklow of Hopwood, PA.

Muriel Constance “Connie” Carlyle, 91 of Bethany, passed away at 9a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018 in her home. She was born on September 19, 1926 in Oswestry, England, the daughter of Richard E. and Mariam E. Davies. Connie was proud to be a “war bride”, having met her husband James while he was serving the United States during World War II in England. They married on July 21, 1945 in Oswestry, England. James E. Carlyle passed away on December 27, 1983.

Connie worked as a cook for 25 years in the Bethany Schools as well as other local restaurants. She was a very active member of the Bethany community serving on the town board, cleaning the post office, and helping with countless community meals. She was an active and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Bethany for many years. Above all she loved her family and spending time with them.

Connie is survived by her children: Mary Beth Carlyle of Bethany, Jim Carlyle (Connie) of Taylorville, and Betty Jo Emel (Gary) of Sullivan; grandchildren: Brenda Robinson (Kevin) of Greenwood, Indiana, Brad Emel (Fayanne) of Sullivan, Sarah Melvin (Dave) of Sullivan, and Molli Carlyle of Taylorville; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Clyde Carlyle, and 9 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for Connie will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Ted Hartley and Rev. Marge Overlot officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until noon on Saturday in the church. Burial will take place in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.

Shirley Conaway, 80 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 3:20 p.m. at her daughters’ home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on July 16, 1938 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of W.A. and Margaret (Young) Scott. She married Gary Lee Conaway on December 24, 1958 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1967 while serving in Vietnam. Shirley worked as a homemaker and she enjoyed baking, watching her grandchildren play sports, Gardening and holidays with her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL and former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
