Marion J. Steve Courtney of Taylorville

Marion J. “Steve” Courtney, 88, of Taylorville, passed away January 12, 2013 at 11:55 a.m. at the Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. He was born March 1, 1924 in Carlinville, IL, the son of Marion and Rose (Moore) Courtney. He married Lillian Martha Swiney on June 13, 1962 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death on November 27, 1999. He was a retired mail carrier and a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII.

He is survived by his son,Stephen Courtney of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Marina (Marc) Larzo of Barnegat, NJ; niece, Jean Piercy of Taylorville, IL. He was preceded by his parents, and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Ken Manning officiating. Burial will be in Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Dane A. Pancho Miller of Taylorville

Dane A. "Pancho" Miller, 65, of Taylorville, IL died at 11:40 pm Sunday, January 27, 2013 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

He was born November 21, 1947 in Springfield, IL the son of Dane Allen and Irene L Reish Miller. On November 15, 1969 he married Bonnie A. Cook at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville. Mr. Miller was affiliated with St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been employed in construction and automotive mechanics, he was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam era.

Surviving are his wife: Bonnie Miller of Taylorville, Daughters: Cheryl Molumby and companion Alfanzo Moss of Springfield, Irene Miller-Arthur and companion Jay Tucker of Pelham, TN and Amy L Miller and companion Michael White of Springfield. There are 5 Grandchildren: Tristan Molumby, Braedyn Ayers, Quintyn Ayers, Krandyn Ayers, and Kelsey Conrad. Sister: Diana McCravy and husband Leland of Jupiter, FL, Aunt and Uncle: Jim Noren and wife Mary Ann of Taylorville and Cousins: Kevin Noren and wife Nancy of Taylorville and Richard Noren and wife Marcy of Anchorage, AK. Also surviving is his close friend Dean Phillips and wife Amy of Kincaid. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Dane Alan Miller, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday at McClure funeral Home with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until time of service in the funeral home on Wednesday. Cremation will fowllow the services.

Larry Grzybinski of Taylorville

Larry Grzybinski, 53, of Taylorville, passed away January 25, 2013 at 11:15 a.m. at Prairie Rose Care Center, Pana, IL. He was born January 19, 1960 in Kansas City, MO. The Son of Alex and Dorothy Cheney Grzybinski.He married Annette Sims in December of 1982 and later to Brenda Barker on November 22, 1986 in Kincaid Baptist Church. He farmed in Assumption and later was a Custodian at Taylorville Community Unit School District for 20 years, and the children knew him as “Mr. G”.

He is survived by his Daughter: Casie Grzybinskiof Taylorville; Son: Zach Crowder of Arlington, TN.; Grandchildren: Gage, Jaylynn and Cade; Brother: Alex Grzybinski of Washington; Sister: Cheryl (Dave) Cunningham of Vandalia, IL; Half Brother: Bob (Becky) Nelson of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 7:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Mary E. Blome of Stonington

Mary E. Blome, 80, of Stonington passed away at 9:21am Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.  She was born December 18, 1932 in Lincoln, IL., the daughter of Orval A. and Edith E. Humphrey Shipp.  On September 11, 1953 she married Harry Junior Blome at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville.  Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stonington, member of the Oxford Sheep Association where she was secretary for 21 years, and a member of John A. Morrison Appellation Group.

She is survived by her sons:  Gary Blome and wife Judy of Decatur, Il. and Terry Blome and wife Lori of Pleasant Plaines, IL.; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Stonington with Dr. William Mitchell officiating.  Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, January 28, 2013 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.

Ruth Ellice Lynn Smith of Taylorville

Ruth Ellice Lynn Smith, 79, of Taylorville, passed away January 22, 2013 at 6:17 p.m. Meadow Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. She was born February 8, 1933 in Taylorville, IL. The Daughter of J. Virgil and Ellice Skaggs Lynn. She married Lloyd Smith on August 14, 1954 at Old Stonington Baptist Church. She was a Retired Homemaker.

She is survived by Husband: Lloyd; Sons: Jeff (Teresa) Smith of Taylorville, IL; Joe (Jenny) Smith of Milwaukee, WI; Daughter: Kathy (Scott) Durbin of Owaneco, IL; and Eight Grandchildren.

Earl F. Bauer, 90, of Nokomis, passed away Tuesday January 22, 2013 at 2:05 a.m. at his residence in Nokomis. He was born March 18, 1922 in Lincoln, IL. The Son of John C. and Helena Aeilts Bauer. He married Betty Wehner on June 15, 1946 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, IL. He was a Retired farmer.

Jacqueline S. Thomas, 69, of Taylorville, passed away January 21, 2013 at 1:32 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. She was born November 25, 1943 in Taylorville, IL. The Daughter of Roy George and Marge (Cordray) Gillock. She married Kenneth D. Thomas Jr. on February 2, 1962 in Urbana, IL and he later preceded her in death in 1966. She was an LPN at St. Vincents Memorial Hospital in Taylorville for over 30 years.

Phyllis J. Ludwig of Mt. Auburn

Phyllis J. Ludwig, 79, of Mt. Auburn, IL passed away on January 20, 2013 at 4:08 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born on June 1, 1933 in Pekin, IL the daughter of Samuel P. Lucille (Davis) Ward. She married Edward “Butch” Ludwig in Illiopolis on August 12, 1978. She was retired from Fiat Allis and DeKalb Pfizer Seed Company. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and the C. D. of A. She loved gardening, cooking and attending he grandson’s school events. She was a loving and caring woman who made the lives of everyone around her more blessed for having known her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Edward “Butch” Ludwig; son, Robert (Heather) Ludwig of Assumption, IL; grandchildren, Zachary, Caleb and Ashton Ludwig; brothers, Samuel (Jane) Ward of Pawnee, IL and John (Jeannie) Ward of Mt. Roy Eugene ?Gene? Ketchum of Taylorville

Roy Eugene “Gene” Ketchum, 80, of Taylorville, passed away January 17, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. peacefully at his home with his wife and daughter lovingly at his side. He was born February 23, 1932 in Taylorville, IL. The Son of Roy E. and Maude I. Campbell Ketchum Sr... He marriedhis childhood sweetheart Dolores Eileen Toliver on March 27, 1949 at the Methodist Parsonage in Hillsboro, IL. He was a Coal miner at Freeman Crown and Peabody mine #10 for 30 years and owned and operated a car sales business, Gene’s Auto Sales. Gene was also an avid golfer and enjoyed watching Nascar, football and attending races at Macon and Springfield speedways. His passion was buying and selling cars, he especially loved antique cars, and Gene was a great mechanic which he learned at an early age from his father. Gene had many wonderful friends and was extremely proud of all his grandchildren. Above all he loved his wife Dolores of 63 years, and his family.

He is survived by his Wife: Dolores. He is the loving father of Sheryl (Dave) Brasche of Taylorville, IL; Phyllis Greenwalt of Sarasota, FL; Susan Shue of Sarasota, FL; and Joan Curry of Cleveland, TN.  Sadie W. Zeiter, 89, of Owaneco, passed away January 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born February 10, 1923 in Nanty Glo, PA. The Daughter of Elmer and Mary Stiffler. She married Norman D. Zeiter on July 10, 1939 in Nanty Glo, PA, he later preceded her in death. She was homemaker. She loved all of her kids and grandkids. She also loved going to church, sewing, gardening flowers, shopping, swinging on the porch.

She is survived by her son, Norman Joseph Zeiter of AL; daughters, Nancy Beard of Taylorville, IL; Donna Benton of Summerville, SC; Phyllis Lukach of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Kathy, Ralph, Danny, Jay, Bobbi, Scott, Ginny, Mark, Richard, Myra, Norman, Marvin, Luann, Russell Zeiter; David, Donna, Jimmy and many more; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The Daughter of E.B. and Beulah Ivey Millner. She married Floyd Lowe on June 29, 1940 in Maissouri and he later preceded her in death on September 8, 2005. She was a retired Homemaker

Harold Gene Agnew of Taylorville

Harold Gene Agnew, 68, of Taylorville, IL died at 7:20 pm Monday, January 14, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

He was born August 14, 1944 in Taylorville, the son of Clarence D. and Mary Isabelle McDougal Agnew. Mr. Agnew was affiliated with the Baptist Church and retired from Firestone in Decatur. He enjoyed his family and being at the lake.

Surviving are his children: Shelly Lynn Poelker and husband Chuck of Stonington and Harold Gene Agnew, Jr. of Taylorville. 3 Grandchildren: Ashley Nicole Sunderland, Tori Ann Sunderland and Jenna Marie Poelker. Brother: Bill Agnew and wife Mary of Taylorville.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday at McClure Funeral Home with Burial in Old Stonington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Christine Elizabeth Carls Durham Goby, 54, of Rochester, passed away January 12, 2013 at 4:08 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born April 1, 1958 in Taylorville, IL. The Daughter ofRussell William and Lorraine Wattelet Carls. She married Richard L. Goby on August 21, 2001 in Las Vegas, NV. and he later preceded her in death on July 18, 2012. She was retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services.

She is survived by her Daughters: Danielle Durham of Springfield, IL and Sarah Durham of Austin, TX.; Brothers: Matthew Carls of Edinburg, IL and Kirk Carls Of Chicago, IL; Sister: Annie O’Leary of Casper, WY.

Donald D. Dorr

April 14, 1930- January 9, 2013

Donald D. Dorr of Taylorville, IL died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

He was born April 14, 1930 in Pana, IL Son of Lester and Ruth Dorr of Owaneco, IL. He served in the United Stated Army during the Korean War. On July 11, 1959 he married Laquita Joy Hake of Tovey. Don was a former farmer, State of Illinois highway worker, coal miner at Peabody Mine #10 and a Locust Township Trustee. He enjoyed fishing, going to auctions and collecting antiques and spending time with his dogs and volunteering many hours of his time to Red Bland Little League Baseball program, one of his fondest memories was being the opening day parade grand marshal. He was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, former officer of V.F.W. Post 4495, American Legion Post 73, officer of AMVETS Post 29, and Post AMVET of the year 2001-2002.

He is survived by Wife: Laquita Joy of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Dena (Joe) Goeckner of Newberry, SC; Son: Joe (Gloria) Dorr of Pana, IL; Grandchildren: Lacey (JB) Head of Madison AL., Luke (Kimberly) Goeckner of Westminster, CO., Caleb Goeckner of Newberry, SC., Hannah Goeckner of Newberry, SC.; Brother: Herman (Wife) Margaret Dorr of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceeded in death by his Parents, Brothers Kenneth Dorr and Charles Dorr; Sisters Dorothy Hebert and Jean Kowen.

Wake will be held at 9:30 a.m. with visitation at 9:45 a.m., service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kincaid, IL with Father Allen Hunter officiating assisted by Father Dan Willenborg. Thomas Tom Michael Parks of Taylorville

Thomas "Tom" Michael Parks, 56, of Taylorville, passed away January 9, 2013 at 7:09am at his residence in Taylorville.  He was born May 8, 1956, in Springfield, IL. the son of Robert and Katie (Hopson) Parks.  He married Marcia Fisher Lutz in 1976 in Taylorville, they later divorced.  He then married Luane "Susie" Goodman in 1995 in Springfield, IL.  He was parts manager for Central Illinois Trucks in Springfield, IL.  Tome loved his wife and his four daughters very much.  He was a good husband and the best dad.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Lindsay (Ian) Grieves of Chicago, IL., Jodie Parks of Ramstein, Germany, Dakota and Katie Parks both of Taylorville; 2 grandchildren; one brother, 4 sisters, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded by his grandparents, and father, Robert Parks.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 9:30am at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Mary Ellen Sharp officiating.  Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.  Visitation will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Mary J. Durbin of Taylorville

Mary J. Durbin, 81, of Taylorville, passed away peacefully at Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Taylorville Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at 10:00am surrounded by her children.  She was born January 24, 1931 in Taylorville, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle Mills Orr.  On February 28, 1949, she married Paul L. Durbin in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 1999.  Mrs. Durbin was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed line dancing and activities at her church.

She is survived by her three children:  Mike Durbin , and Paula Gipson of Taylorville and Donna Kelmel and husband Dave of Morrisonville, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; 5 brothers; 4 sisters; 3 sisters-in-law and one aunt.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00am at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Father Alan Hunter officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 7:00pm Thursday, January 10, 2013 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Charles L. McGehee of Peotone

Charles L. McGehee, 76, of Peotone, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 P.M., Saturday, January 5, 2013, in the Riverside Memorial Hospital of Kankakee, Illinois.  Charles was born July  25, 1936, in Paris, Tennessee, the son of Gilmer D. and Suddie M. ( Cox ) McGehee. He married Marilyn K. Peckham, May  30, 1992, in Kankakee, Illinois. Charles served in the United States Army and was a former employee of the Ace Hardware Corp. of Matteson, in the Maintenance Department. He attended the Manteno Nazarene Church of Manteno, IL. Mr. McGehee leaves his wife, Marilyn K. McGehee of Peotone, IL; four daughters, Charla Brooks and husband Dennis of Newton, IL, Lynette Lawrence of Exton, PA; Renee Sparling and husband Frank of Yale, IL and Jennifer Sparling and husband Rick of Neoga, IL; one brother, Robert McGehee and wife Debbie of Taylorville, IL; one sister, Loretta McGehee of Springfield, IL; eleven grandchildren, Joel, Jeron, Jacob, Kailyn, Jaidyn, Braidyn, Samantha, Zackary, Alena, Daniel and Rayna. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters and two grandsons, Eric and Landon.    

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M., (Noon) on Wednesday, January  9, 2013, in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. Steve Massengill of Neoga, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery, Neoga, Illinois.

William G. Mackey of Taylorville

William G. Mackey, 73, of Taylorville, IL died at 6:55 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his residence. He was born March 12. 1939 in Olney, IL the son of William T. and Neva Esther Hickel Mackey. On June 1, 1985 he married Karen McKinney in Taylorville. Bill was the former owner of Sherman's Department Stores in Taylorville, Benton and Hillsboro, and was employed at Trinity Motors as the used car manager and finance manage. he was affiliated with the Taylorville Christian Church.

Surviving are his daughter: Heather Anderson Dempsey of Springfield and Son: Mark Anderson and wife Jodi of Waverly. Grandchildren: Rachel Dempsey, Brandon Dempsey, Noah Anderson, McKenna Anderson, Blayton Orris, and Kallie Howerton.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Antonio Nieves, Jr. of Taylorville

Antonio Nieves, Jr., 65, of Taylorville passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:53am at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born January 23, 1947 in Laredo, TX., the son of Antonio and Felici Ramon Nieves, Sr.  He married Barbara Ann Duncan July 5, 1969 in Chicago, IL.  Mr. Nieves was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville and had been employed as a freight forwarder for Nation Casting Co.  He was an army veteran of Viet Nam.

He is survived by his wife; children, Veronica Korn and husband Raymond of Hanover Park, IL., Yolanda Castro and husband Jonathon of Munster, IN., and Ramon Russel Nieves of Taylorville; 4 grandchildren; sister, Julieta Nieves of Schaumburg, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30am, Monday, January 7, 2012 in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, near Joliet, IL.  McClure Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JoAnn Girard of Pana

JoAnn Girard 77, of Pana passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10:05 am in Pana Community Hospital, Pana, IL. She was born November 27, 1935 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Jack Gaynor and Eunice (Shanks) Sims. She married Jack E. Girard on July 2, 1983 in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death of September 12, 2005. She retired from In-home Care. She loved music.

She is survived by Sons Richard Binkley Jr. of Pana, IL and Kevin Eugene Binkley of Pana, IL, Daughters Denise (Jeff) Richey of Chicago, IL Angela Binkley of Pana, IL and Cinda Dumphy of Decatur, IL. 20 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, Brother Keith Gaynor of OR, Sister Linda (Joe) McKinney of FL, Cindy Massett of Springfield, IL and nancy Lawrence of Springfield, IL, Step-Sister Julie Emerson of Springfield, IL, Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Jack Girard; Brother, John Gaynor.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL. Juanita A. Perry of Edinburg

Juanita A. Perry, 85 of Edinburg passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:50 pm in Regency Nursing Care Residence, Springfield, IL. She was born December 6, 1927 in Rochester, IL the daughter of Luther and Pearl Smith Kelley. She married Gordon E. Perry on February 20, 1947 in Taylorville, IL. She served as Clerk and later as Postmaster at the Edinburg Postmaster at the Edinburg Post Office, retiring in 1989 after 25 years of service. Juanita was an active member of the Edinburg Christian Church for many years serving in a variety of capacities; and she later became a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and was also a Charter Member of the Edinburg Lioness Club. She was also actively involved in her community. She participated in the Christian County Red Cross, coordinating local blood drives. She also served on the board of the Christian County Senior Citizen's Center in Taylorville, as well as representing Christian County on the advisory board of the Area Agency on Aging for Lincoln Land.

She is survived by her husband Gordon, Daughter Deb (Gary) Philo of Springfield, IL, Grandchildren Kyle (Fiancee Britney Hicks) Lasswell of Edinburg, IL, Great-Grandchildren London, Kyle Jr., Roman, Corey, and Cameron, Brother, Gene Kelley of Springfield, IL, Sister-In-Law Barb Payne and Brenda Stimac of Edingburg, IL Brothers-In-Law Tom Warren of Edinburg, IL and Billy (Jerry) Perry of New Jersey, Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by Parents, sister Margaret Ann Jelley and Brother Maurice Kelley.

Visitation will b e Thursday January 3, 2013 from 10:00-12:00 Noon at Bethel Baptist Church, Taylorville, IL. Funeral Services will be Thursday January 3, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Bethel Baptist church, Taylorville, IL with Honorable Judge Ron Spears Officiating. Burial will be a private family burial at Camp Butler national Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
