Laura Lynn Copenbarger

 

Laura Lynn Copenbarger, 53, of Blue Mound passed away at 8:53p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital ER. She was born on January 25, 1963 in Springfield, the daughter of Buel and Flora (Bartlett) Morgan. She married David A. Copenbarger on October 22, 1983 in Mt. Auburn. She loved horseback riding and was a member of Prairie Trail Riders. She loved all kinds of animals, especially her horses and her two golden retrievers. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially on the lake, kayaking and boating, and spending time with her girls and family. She had a passion for life, loved others selflessly and had the best sense of humor. Those around her were sure to be laughing.

Along with her husband, Dave Copenbarger of Blue Mound, Laura is survived by her daughters: Allison Vance (Nick) of San Antonio, Texas, and Erica Copenbarger of Charleston, IL; siblings: Mike Morgan of Blue Mound, Stephen Morgan (Linda) of Grayville, Rob Morgan of Mt. Auburn, and Cheri Davis (Mark) of Stillman Valley; nephews: Chris Copenbarger (Gina), Sean Davis, Aaron Davis, and Brandon Davis (Jennifer). She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved aunt: Rose Morgan and nephew: Rusty Morgan.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery, Niantic. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 30 at the funeral home. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Marcella Ruth Pittenger

 

Marcella Ruth Pittenger, 96 of Taylorville passed away at 6:49 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 23, 1920 in May Township, Christian County,  the daughter of Orville and Flossie (Payne) Wareham. Marcella married Ivan C. Pittenger on May 21, 1941 in Yuma, Arizona. He preceeded her in death on March 25, 2003. Marcella was also preceded in death by her parents; Son: Daniel I. Pittenger; Sister: Erma Kevie; Brothers: Darrell Wareham and Fred Wareham.

 

Marcella was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, Presbyterian Women and former deacon. She spent many hours working in her yard. She loved her dog Annie. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bird watching and visiting on her porch. She loved Big Band Music. Marcella was present during the attack on Pearl Harbor while her husband Ivan was stationed in the Navy.

 

Survivors include: Daughter  Dolores J. “Dee” (Stephen) McLaughlin of Taylorville, IL; Brother Donald   (Bonnie) Wareham of Taylorville, IL; Daughter-in-law Judy Pittenger of Richfield, WI; Grandchildren: Tara (Jason) Kowalczyk of Gainesville, GA; Matthew (Lyndsey) McLaughlin of Morton, IL; Jarrod McLaughlin of Taylorville, IL; Danette Pahl (Thomas Miller) of Tucson, AZ; Erin (John) Edgington of Cobb, WI; Shannon (Robert) Oitker of Bloomington, IL; Vanessa (John) Clark of McHenry, IL; and Gareth (DeAnne) Pittenger of Slinger, WI; 18 Great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville with Rev. Michael Evanchak officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the First Presbyterian Church.

Robert Allen “Bob” Wicker Jr., 76 of Osbernville passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:10 a.m. at his residence in Osbernville. He was born on November 19, 1940 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Robert Allen and Doris Catherine (McDonald) Wicker Sr. He married Patsy Lou Prior on June 2, 1962 in Mt. Auburn Methodist Church. He was retired from Mosquito Township Road District.

Robert Buzzingham

 

Robert “Joe” Buzzingham, 84 of Taylorville passed away at 11:40 AM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

 

He was born on December 31, 1931 at Evansville, IN the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Davis) Buzzingham. He married Betty J. Hampton on June 29, 1957 in Taylorville; she preceded him in death on November 23, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Fillenworth.

 

Robert worked as a machinist for Borg-Warner, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 73 and VFW Post 4495. He was a veteran of the Army serving during the Korean War. Robert enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and most of all spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by: 1 Daughter, Candice (Husband, Brad) Spent of Taylorville, IL; 1 Son, Kenny (Wife, Marcy) Koches of Taylorville, IL; 4 Grandchildren, Amanda McMillan, Alpha Shane Koches, Madison Spent and Ashley Spent; 2 Great Grandchildren, Hailey McMillan and Zachary McMillan; Several Nieces and Nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.

Ramona Maton Kinney

 

Ramona Maton Kinney, 89 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 5:40 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on November 14, 1927 in Pana, IL the Son of Louis and Ada (Pence) Maton. She married Downer “Pete” Kinney on June 2, 1946 in Taylorville, IL and they were later divorced. She was the owner of Maton Florist in Taylorville and she was a member of the Eastern Star, Medina Shrine #98, VFW Auxiliary Post #4495 in Taylorville, Taylorville Eagles Auxiliary, and Taylorville Presbyterian Church.  
Surviving are her Son: Steven (Susan) Kinney of Edmond, OK; Daughters: Marsha (Jim) Streicher of East Peoria, IL; Joy (Tom) Dyson of Edinburg, IL; Grandchildren: Ben (Virginia) Kinney, Katherine (Eric) Goodyear, Julia (Brian) Byrd, Doug (Jess) Streicher, James (Gina) Kinney, David (Erin) Dyson, Mark (Amanda) Dyson, Kristen Dyson; Great-Grandchildren: Orin Goodyear, Roland Goodyear, Maxwell Kinney, Gavin Dyson; Sister: Blossom Winslow of DeKalb, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Alec Cohoon Jr.

 

 

Alec Cohoon Jr., 88 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. He was born on September 22, 1928 in Vandalia, IL the Son of Alec Edward and Cora Myrtle (Weaver) Cohoon. He married Marge Luttrell on September 4, 1962 in Springfield, IL. Alec worked on oil rigs, construction, dry cleaners, Firestone, Caterpillar, Security and Grocery Store Manager. He also served in the United States Air Force.

Surviving are his Wife: Marge Cohoon of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Brenda (Danny) Vidmar of Taylorville, IL; Debbie Walton of Taylorville, IL; Step-Daughter: Mary Jo Hideg; Four Grandchildren; Fourteen Great Grandchildren and 1Great-Great-Grandson. Sisters: Norma Jean Beckmeier of Kenmore, WA. Panzi Lee (William) Blackwell of Brownstown, IL; Several nieces, nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son Randy Cohoon.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside honors.

B. Ellen Rice, 75 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:45 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born on January 3, 1941 in Sharpsburg, IL the Daughter of John Vellette and Mattie May (Heath) Babbs. She married M. Dale Rice by Elmer Joplin and Russell Downs on October 27, 1963 in the Nazarene Church in Assumption. Ellen worked as a CNA at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville.

James L. Shafer

Mr. James L. Shafer, 68, of Taylorville, IL passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence.
He was born February 13, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the son of Joseph and Genevieve (Shaw) Shafer.  He first married Mary Hengles and they later divorced.  Jim later married Linda Barber Dickerson in Decatur, IL in 1987. 
Mr. Shafer graduated from Taylorville High School in 1966 and went on to attended Southern Illinois University.  He then joined the Army.  Jim was stationed in Japan working in ammunition renovation.  After his discharge from service he returned to S.I.U. and then transferred to Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago where he graduated in September of 1971.  He was granted his funeral directors and embalmers license in October of 1972 and owned and operated Shafer Funeral Home in Taylorville until his retirement in 2009 due to health reasons.  Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Moose Club, and VFW post #4495 all in Taylorville, IL.
Surviving are his wife Linda of Taylorville, IL son Joseph (Patty) Shafer of Elgin, IL son David (Jenny) Dickerson of Indianapolis, IN daughter Dacia (Tim) Passoni of Normal, IL grandchildren Averi, Nick, Noah, Jasmyn, Kynnedi, Molly, Laney, Korbyn, Jack and a granddaughter due in March, along with his sister Shirley (Richard) Davis of Taylorville, IL brother J.C. (Lan) Shafer of AZ several nieces and nephews, father-in-law Richard Barber and sister-in-law Sharon (Terry) Holderfield all of Mattoon, IL and brothers-in-law Ron (Annie) Barber of Charleston, IL and Ken (Velma) Barber of CA.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Joann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL.  Pastor Becky Lemke will officiate.  Burial with military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  Visitation for Mr. Shafer will be held from 4 to 7 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Charles E. Winchester

 

Charles E. Winchester, 66 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 9:15 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on August 20, 1950 in Clay County, IL the Son of Howard and Irene (Warren) Winchester. He married Toni Sue Falco on March 17, 1973 in Taylorville, IL. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Taylorville K of C. After his service in the Navy Charlie worked as a Corrections Officer.

Surviving are his Wife: Toni Winchester of Taylorville, IL; Son: Matthew Winchester of Tucson, AZ.; Two Sisters ; Two Brothers; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Mother and Father-in-Law, 3 Brothers and 1 Sister.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. The Memorial Mass will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Father Alan Hunter officiating assisted by Father Rodney Schwartz. Helen Mae Brown

 

Helen Mae Brown, 82, of Taylorville, died at 5:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on September 13, 1934 in Taylorville, the daughter of Lewis Edward and Lula (Tex) Wright. She married Robert G. Brown on July 14, 1956 in Taylorville and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, enjoyed watching Fox News, shopping, her dog Buzz and spending time with her family.

 

Helen is survived by her husband: Robert Brown of Taylorville; children: Rodney Brown, Doug (Brenda) Brown of Illiopolis, and Robin (Mike) Brandis of Taylorville; grandchildren: Rob (Jamie) Brown of Illiopolis, Tyler Brandis (fiancée Randi) of Taylorville, Samantha Brown of Illiopolis, Brooke Brandis of Taylorville, Allen Brown of Illiopolis, Colin Brown of Decatur, Summer Brandis of Taylorville, and Zayne Brown of Decatur; great children: Nash Brandis and Keira Jones of Taylorville; sister: Mary Johnson of Taylorville; a niece and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, November 21, 2016 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Msgr. David Lantz officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 until 11am Monday. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.

Jack "Mad Dog" Cole

 

 

 

Jack “Mad Dog” Cole, 89 of Taylorville on Wednesday, November 16, at 1:30 p.m. while at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, with his wife Kay at his bedside, went to be with his Heavenly Father. Jack was born on November 7, 1927 in Riverton, IL to William S. and Augusta W. (Warren) Cole. A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL. The family will receive friends with a visitation from 10:00 until the time of service. Graveside service and military honors will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Following graduation from Kincaid High School, Jack served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps from 1946 thru 1949. While in the service Jack was stationed in the Far East, as well as the United States. After his discharge he returned to central Illinois and began his career in coal Mining, working 31 years at Peabody Mine #10 where he was a proud member of United Mine Workers of America. Jack was a lifetime member of the VFW and active in many other organizations, Eagles Club, Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially following his beloved World Champion Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini. Among his hobbies were bowling, fishing, crossword puzzles, playing the lottery and most importantly enjoying quality time with his family.

Jack is survived by his loving wife Kay (Tucker) Cole of 51 years. Jack and Kay were married on July 2, 1965; two daughters, Gloria (Dan) Sparks and Lori Cole Younker; Grandsons Danny Sparks and Davis Younker and granddaughter Victoria (Tori) Sparks; Two Sisters Edna Davis and Wilmajean Jorgenson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Mel Edward Masters

 

Mel Edward Masters, 79 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 9:26 a.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on June 5, 1937 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Frank and Mary (Dow) Masters. He married Ellen Marie Hart on June 23, 1957 in the Taylorville United Methodist Church. He retired from ADM after 44 years. Mel loved his Lord, Family and Church Family.

Surviving are his Wife: Ellen Marie Masters of Taylorville; Daughters: Susan Beth (Randell) Wyatt of Farmers Branch, TX; Ann Marie (David) Hollo of Litchfield, IL; Grandchildren: Clint Edward Wyatt, Brett Andrew Wyatt and Brittany Marie Wyatt, Tracy Hollo-Mueller, Amy Hollo- Hansen, Benjamin David Hollo; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his infant siblings John Masters and Kathleen Masters.

Joseph D. Craft

Joseph D. Craft of Findlay passed away in his home on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 with loved ones by his side. He was born on October 1, 1964, at Michigan Airforce Base, to Hughie and Bonnie (Lofland) Craft of Blue Mound. He attended Blue Mound Schools. He was employed by Larry Barry at Larry’s Service Center in Taylorville for 23 years.

 

Mr. Craft is survived by his father Hughie, spiritual wife Cheryl Williamson of Findlay, stepchildren Jennifer Woodall of Findlay, Clint and Kassandra (Barringer) Stiner of Shelbyville, grandchildren Shelby and Mason Woodall of Findlay, and Logan and Hailey Stiner of Shelbyville.

 

Mr. Craft was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother Bonnie (Lofland) Craft, and very special uncle Jimmy Craft.

 

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay followed by burial in Wright Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the DMH Cancer Care Institute or DMH Hospice.

Tyler Paul Lecocq

 

Tyler Paul Lecocq, 35, of Taylorville passed away at 6:12am on Friday November 4, 2016 near Moweaqua, Illinois. He was born on November 27, 1980, the son of Chris and Feryl (Hodges) Lecocq. Tyler was a 1999 graduate of Taylorville High School and had worked as a machinist for TCCI Manufacturing in Decatur. Tyler loved outdoor activities and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always had a big smile for everyone he would meet.

He is survived by his parents: Chris and Feryl Lecocq; sister: Tish (Rich) Gerlick; nephews: Hunter, Lucas, and Dylan Gerlick, all of Taylorville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Don and Shirley Lecocq, Howard and Julia Hodges, cousin: Dana Hodges, and uncle: Kent Frailey.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, November 10 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Rev. Rodney Blomquist officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7pm on Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville and one hour prior to the service in the church on Thursday. Memorials may be left to the S.B. Theresa Agnes Wiseman

 

Theresa Agnes Wiseman, 77 of Taylorville passed away at 5:04pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in her home. She was born on February 18, 1939, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor (Young) Myerscough. On July 6, 1957 she married Raymond E. Wiseman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. She attended the University of Illinois at Springfield and earned her BSN degree. Theresa worked many jobs throughout her life, including: National Guard at Camp Lincoln, the State of Illinois Department of Revenue, Jubelt’s Bakery, Dairy Queen, and County Market. She proudly served as an election judge, was a member of the Christian County Extension and was active at the Christian County Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, sewing, quilting, flowers, and reading. Theresa was a proud grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her husband: Raymond Wiseman of Taylorville; daughters: Debbie Wiseman of Taylorville and Janice Marvel (Steve) of Waggoner; grandchildren: Carrie White Rolofson of Argenta, Kimberly White (Ben Deckard) of Boise Idaho, Julian Marvel, Ian Marvel bothof Waggoner, and Ana Wiseman of Maryland; great-grandchildren: Kennedy White, Adelle Rolofson, and Fiona Deckard; siblings: Margaret “Peggy” Tazioli of Highland Park, Merle Myerscough of Charleston, Marian “Mike” (Fran) Myerscough of Springfield, and Carol (Randy) Huber of Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Raymond Wiseman Jr., great grandson Bran; and siblings: Joseph, Gerald, Mary Ellen, and Duane Myerscough.

The family will hold a celebration of Theresa’s life at a later date.

Kinsley Lane Peters

 

Kinsley Lane Peters, infant Daughter of Ryan Peters and Delanie Pembroke of Taylorville, was still born on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 5:34 p.m. at Carol Jo Vecchie Women’s and Children’s Center in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Surviving are her Parents: Ryan Peters and Delanie Pembroke of Taylorville, Maternal Grandparents: Don (Kim) Pembroke of Taylorville, Paternal Grandparents: Lori (Don) Bettis and Matthew Peters both of Taylorville; Maternal Great-Grandparents: Gary (Mimie) Dunkirk; Bob (Connie) Flaherty Both of Taylorville, Paternal Great-Grandparents: Larry (Betty) Sutton; Gene (Donna) Peters both of Taylorville; Uncles Gavin Pembroke of Phoenix, AZ, Karrick Pembroke, Kason Pembroke, Austin Peters and Evan Peters all of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her Great Uncle Brian Dunkirk and Maternal Great-Grandpa: Darrell Pembroke.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. The funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Don Bettis officiating. Burial will be held in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

William H. Hanauer

William H. “Bubby” Hanauer, 64 of Taylorville, IL passed away at 4:09 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylorville, IL. He was born January 3, 1952 in Taylorville, IL the son of Harlan and Helen (Luking) Hanauer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Lankford of Taylorville, IL; nieces: Renee (Mitchel) Singleton of Indianapolis, IN; Lisa Hays (Companion Rick Downing) of Taylorville, IL; Christine (Todd) Norris of Taylorville, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL with Msgr. David S. Lantz officiating.

Wilber Ladson

Wilber “Wib” Ladson, 79 of Mt. Auburn passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 5:17 p.m. at his residence in Mt. Auburn. He was born on August 7, 1937 in Bloomington, IN the Son of Bert and Ruth (Stevens) Ladson. He married Gertie Brown his high school sweetheart on June 30, 1956 in Merom, IN. He worked as the Owner and operator of Ladson Pumping and Completion serving the oilfield industry. Wilber loved Spending time his with family and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball fan, and Indiana Basketball Fan.

Surviving are his Wife Gertie of Mt. Auburn; Son: Carl (Linda) Ladson of Mt. Pulaski; Daughter: Sue (Dave) Hesse of Forsyth, Jana Ladson of Forsyth; Grandchildren: Justin (Crystal) Hesse of Decatur, Jason (Melissa) Hesse of Mt. Zion, Zackary Ladson of Mt. Pulaski; Great-Grandchildren: “Known as Papa Wib by Samantha and Lucas”; Brothers: Larry (Norma) Ladson of Mechanicsburg IL, Donnie (Mary) Ladson of Mechanicsburg IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son Steven, 1 Brother, 4 Sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. The funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Dan Armstrong officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn, IL.
