Marilyn Ann Minder

Marilyn Ann Minder, 70, of Pawnee died Tuesday August 28, 2018 at home with family. Marilyn was born December 22, 1947 in South Holland, Illinois, the daughter of Arch and Alice Mlinek McLaughlan. She married Walter Laverne Minder on Nov. 1, 1969. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mike McLaughlan.

 

Marilyn attended the Pawnee Christian and Rochester Christian Churches. Marilyn started her career in teaching before devoting her time to her children as a full-time homemaker where she was active in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed gardening, reading, fellowship at the YMCA of Taylorville, and helping her husband on the farm.

 

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 49 years, Walter Laverne Minder, of Pawnee; one son, Wes (wife, Jody) Minder, of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters Maureen Minder, of Richmond, Virginia and Ellie Minder of Madison, Wisconsin; one brother John (wife, Susan) McLaughlan, of Fisher, Indiana; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Marilyn’s family will meet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at the Pawnee Christian Church with Rev. Kevin Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.

 

Memorials honoring Marilyn may be made to the American Cancer Society, 675 East Linton Ave., Springfield, IL 62703.

Mary L. Fudge

Mary L. Fudge, 82, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 9:34 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center.

 

Mary was born April 13, 1936 in Van Burensburg, IL, the daughter of John Wesley and Marguerite Sarah (Thacker) Flannigan. She married Glen P. Fudge on April 27, 1970 at Taylorville Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2017.

 

Mary was a devoted homemaker, and enjoyed spending time surrounded by her family and friends. She loved word search books, playing BINGO, and going on trips to the state fair and the Apple Barn.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; twin brothers, Earl and Pearl Flannigan; and sister, Betty Hawk.

 

Mary is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

 

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until the time of ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, IL 62568, with Rev. Dayle Badman, officiating.

 

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

William Lyle "Bill" Sims

William Lyle “Bill” Sims, 75, of Taylorville passed away at 12:43p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Meadow Manor in Taylorville. He was born on August 19, 1943 in Taylorville, the son of William Earl and Gladys (Jacobs) Sims. Bill retired from Caterpillar where he worked for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. Bill had a love for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He liked to surprise his daughters by bringing home large turtles that he would find. He was a proud member of the NRA, was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears, enjoyed bowling, and was a member of the Methodist faith. More than anything he loved his family and spending time with them.

 

Bill is survived by his daughters: Melinie (Derek) Richards of Rochester, Kathy (David) Jostes of Rochester, Crystal (Chris) Rora of Taylorville, Laura (Sam) Hughes of Taylorville, Karla (Shawn) Watkins of Taylorville, and Casandra (Bryce) Pinnell of Morrisonville; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; siblings: Richard Sims and Larry (Linda) Sims all of Texas, and Earlene (Jack) Beaman of Taylorville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Rita Maschke; brother: Robert Sims; sisters-in-law: Lois Sims and Pat Sims.

 

In keeping with his wishes, Bill will be cremated and a memorial service for Bill will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Bill’s nephew, Jimmy Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment with military graveside rites will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

 

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors, the NRA, or Illinois Sheriff’s Association.

Alice Petro, 90 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:48 p.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on July 9, 1928 in Richey, MT the Daughter of John and Ruth Madora (Carroll) Conley. Alice was a retired teacher.

 

She is survived by her Sons: Richard Smith of Taylorville, IL and Larry Pruitt- Smith of Mexico, NY; Grandchildren: Andrea (John) Coers, Tami (Randy) Grigg, Jason Wilham, Sandra (Fred) Delahunt, Benjamin Smith, Holly Farrell, Aaron Smith, Laura Smith, Alicyne (Josh) Schafer, Ryan Smith; Several Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Martha Theil of Santa Fe, NM; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Allen Wayne Smith Sr., Daughter: Joyce Wilham, Sons: Gary Smith, Allen Wayne Smith Jr.

Carolyn Sue (Nolen) Burch

Carolyn Sue (Nolen) Burch, 69 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:58 a.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on November 21, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Godbey) Nolen. She married Bob Schalk on February 14, 1975 and they were later divorced. Carolyn worked as a caregiver at Christian County Mental Health.

 

She is survived by her Sons: Bret Nolen and wife Angel of Taylorville, IL; Kevin Schalk of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Brandon Schalk and Will Nolen; Brother: Dale Nolen and wife Marie of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Candy Johnson and Husband Bill of Taylorville, IL and Nephew: Jeremy Johnson and family of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her Parents.

 

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Bilyeu Cemetery in Moweaqua, IL.

Kevin Stich

Kevin Stich, 71 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 3:33 a.m. at his residence in Taylorville, IL. He was born on August 9, 1947 in Lancaster, WI the son of Elden and Helen Virginia (Johnsrud) Stich. He was the President/Treasurer of Taylorville Community Credit Union for 37 years and he was recognized for his service on the Fire and Police Commission Board for over 28 years. Kevin was involved in many charitable organizations including Relay for Life, the Corvette Club and he was known to bring donuts to the volunteers on Election Day for his township. Kevin loved corvettes and boating at Lake Shelbyville.
He is survived by his Daughter: Andrea L. Frank of Reedsburg, WI; Grandsons: Colin and Joshua Frank of Reedsburg, WI; Brothers: Spencer and Lyndell Stich and Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his Brother Kent Stich. 
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Rosanne (Hicks) Loesch

Rosanne (Hicks) Loesch, 80, of North Captiva Island, FL, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Rosanne was born March 28, 1938 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of John “Jack” and Rose (Kastelic) Hicks.

 

Rosanne graduated from Taylorville High School, and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Louis University where she met her future husband. She told her college roommate, after her first date with John, that he was the man she was going to marry. She married Dr. J. John Loesch on July 17, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL. They were happily married for 58 years. She worked as a registered nurse for a period of time, then had a most successful career raising her five children and supporting her husband in his private anesthesia practice. Rosanne was dedicated to John and her children, ensuring their future success. She would joke that when her husband asked her what she had been doing all day, she would reply, “Drinking gin and eating bonbons!” She enjoyed organizing family and social events, always making sure everyone was taken care of and had a great time. Her favorite place was the beach on North Captiva Island, where she enjoyed listening to the ocean, watching many amazing sunsets, and occasionally seeing the “green flash” with a glass of wine and family at her side. Rosanne was an active member of P.E.O., a past member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL, and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Joplin, MO.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Joseph “Joey" Hicks.

 

Rosanne is survived by her husband, J. John Loesch, M.D. of North Captiva Island, FL; son, John Loesch, DDS; daughters, Michelle Dunne of Waterford, VA, Susanne ( David) Hopkins, MD of Monroe, WA, Heather Loesch, MD of Wilmington, NC, and Holly (Ray) Tantillo, MD of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, John, Ken, and Peter Dunne, Emma and Phoebe Hopkins, and Devin, Elizabeth, and Joel Tantillo; siblings, Susan (John) Jones Bloomington, IL; Bill (Cheryl) Hicks of Normal, IL. She also leaves behind nieces Alison, Courtney, and Bridget plus many loving friends.

 

Visitation & Funeral Mass: The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the

funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 108 W.

Adams St., Taylorville, IL, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Randy D. Samson

Randy D. Samson, 64, of Taylorville, IL died peacefully, on Monday, August 20, 2018, at Lake Taylorville, the place he loved best. Randy was born July 23, 1954 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Bobby H. and the late Marjorie L. (Southard) Samson.  He married Ellen M. Brown on December 21, 1974, and have been happily married for over 43 years.
Randy was a self-employed, over the road semi-truck driver for forty-two years.  The companies he drove for referred to him as “Top Dog”, for his reliability and excellence in his field.  He logged over one million miles on two different occasions.  Randy was a loyal member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing volleyball.  


He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lynn and Lena (Luttrell) Samson; maternal grandparents, Charles and Nellie (Richardson) Southard; sister, Roberta L. (Samson) Dillon; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Randy is survived by his wife, Ellen M. Samson of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Tammy (husband, Kevin) Kater of Stonington, IL; granddaughter, Kourtney (husband, Alex) Kater of Stonington; great grandson, Myles Kater of Stonington, IL; father, Bobby H. Samson of Taylorville, IL; siblings, Rick (wife, Debbie) Samson, Steve (wife, Tammy) Samson, Janet (husband, Stanley) Gordon, and Sandy (husband, Gary) Rexroad all of Taylorville, IL, and Danny (wife, Olivia) Samson of Pueblo, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy A. Folkers

Dorothy A. Folkers, 86, of Taylorville passed away at 12:14p.m. On Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in her home.  She was born on June 20, 1932 in Coffeen, the daughter of Vourse and Jessie (Smith) White.  She married Dwight Folkers on June 20, 1953 in Coffeen.  Dorothy worked for the State of Illinois, Secretary of State's office and also taught piano lessons for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville. Dorothy had a great love for music which she passed on to her son, Michael.  She greatly enjoyed attending concerts in which he and his wife, Daniela performed.  Dorothy also loved trees and enjoyed planting and caring for a variety of species in her backyard.  She was a voracious reader and had a special interest in history that led to her taking many college courses to learn all she could about world history. Dorothy's greatest passion was reading and studying the Bible.

She is survived by her husband: Dwight Folkers of Taylorville; son: Michael Folker (Daniela) of Arlington Heights; grandson: Christopher Folker of Arlington Heights; sister: Nadine Roe of Plano, Texas and Richard White (Mary) of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  Following the service, inurnment will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton.  A visitation will be held from 10:30 until 11:30 on Friday in the funeral home.

Glenn Edwin Pruett

Glenn Edwin Pruett, 66, of Taylorville passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Glenn was born on March 4, 1952 in Vandalia, IL the son of Donald L. and Betty L. Lansford Pruett.

Glenn, also known as “Ole Dad” or “Pops” to those who knew him best, graduated from Brownstown High School in 1970, and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Army.  Following his service, he went to work as a telephone lineman, and then later as a plumber.  Glenn moved back to Taylorville, from Aberdeen, NC where he lived for 20 years, following his retirement.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but most all he enjoyed making everyone he met smile.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald L. "Bud" Pruett and Oscar I. "Ike" Pruett; sisters, Linda Kay Pruett and Nancy Jo Pruett; and brother-in-law, Paul Boulanger.

Glenn is survived by his son, Billy (wife, Julie) Pruett of Ft. Worth, TX; grandsons, Connor and Evan Pruett; sisters, Nella (husband, Donald) Vandenbergh of Taylorville, IL, Teena (fiancé, Bob Shivley) Boulanger of Jeisyville, IL, and Sherrie Barnes of KY; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins

Robert Edward Jacobs

Robert Edward Jacobs, 71 of Jacksonville, IL formerly of Pawnee passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2:05 a.m. at Aperion Care Center in Jacksonville, IL. He was born on May 28, 1947 in Taylorville, IL the son of Robert and Delores M. (Moore) Jacobs. Robert worked as an Electrician at Commonwealth Edison and he served in the United States Navy.


He is survived by his Son Ryan Jacobs of Decatur, IL; Brother: Richard Jacobs of Taylorville, IL; Sister: Debbie Jacobs of Decatur, IL and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter Erica and Brother David.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Tyler Inman

Tyler Inman, 22 of Ohlman passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 11:41 p.m. as the result of an ATV accident. He was born on April 19, 1996 in Springfield, IL the Son of Jim and Gina (Smith) Inman. He worked as an operator at Pana Limestone and was a member of local 965 operating engineers and south fork church.
 
Surviving are his Parents: Jim and Gina Inman of Ohlman; Sister: Taylor Inman of Mattoon; Grandparents: Donna Inman of Pana; Jane and Wendell Smith of Ohlman; Great-Grandmother: Bernice Dixon of Pana; Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather: Jim Inman and Uncle Dan Smith. 
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at South Fork United Methodist Church in rural Nokomis. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosamond, IL.

Walter Gerald Hughes

Walter Gerald Hughes, 87, of Taylorville passed away at 7:54p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center.  He was born on May 13, 1931 in Edinburg, the son of John E. and Leah Fern (Rhodes) Hughes.  Mr. Hughes retired from the Hughes Insurance Agency and previously worked at Caterpillar. He was a former member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.  He was a 50 year member of Mound Lodge #122 A.F. & A.M., and was also a member of the Ansar Shrine and Consistory, White Shrine, and Arcana Chapter #493 O.E.S.  He was a life member of Moose Lodge #2210 in Taylorville where he has been very active including serving as Governor and was also a member of the Eagles.  He was a veteran of the Navy and in his free time enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, and garage sales.

He is survived by his son: Gary Allan Hughes of Springfield; daughter: Beth Grubaugh of Taylorville; grandchildren: Heather Taylor (Dustin) of Clay City, Brittany Grubaugh, and Nicholas Grubaugh both of Taylorville, and great grandson Mason Taylor Clay City; brothers: Ronald Hughes of Taylorville, Edward Hughes (Doris Ann) of Taylorville, and Marvin Hughes (Judy) of Mt. Zion; 5 nieces, 5 nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife: Dolores Hughes-Baker and sister-in-law: Patricia Hughes.

Funeral services for Mr. Hughes will be held at 2p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tiney Walker officiating.  A Masonic Service will take place at the start of the funeral.  Visitation will be from 1 until 2pm on Tuesday.  Burial with military honors will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Ruben Franklin Harty

 

Ruben Franklin Harty, 82 of Taylorville formerly of Mt. Auburn, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 4:03 a.m. at his residence in Taylorville, IL. He was born on March 20, 1936 in Bloomfield, MO the son of Ruben Franklin and Miriam Cecelia (Cowgar) Harty. He married Phyllis Prior on September 4, 1954 in Nahunta, GA and she preceded him in death on January 9, 2018. Ruben worked as a plant services manager at Dekalb Ag Research in Illiopolis, IL. He was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps serving from 1954-1958. He enjoyed attending auctions and wintering in Texas with family and friends.
He is survived by his Daughter: Kelly Jo (Scott) Goodman of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Cody Long of Taylorville and Stacy Alfredson of Pekin, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Dalton Long of Taylorville, Amelia and Isabella Alfredson of Pekin, IL; Sister: Peggy Ayers of Virginia, IL; Brother-in-Law: Lloyd Prior of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Son Lyle Harty, Brother-in-Law Irvin Ealey, Sister-in-Law: Elaine Prior and Nephew Roger Prior. 
There will be a private family service with an inurnment at a later date in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn, IL.

David E. Johnson

David E. Johnson, 62 of Taylorville, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018. One of 10 children, Dave was born in Springfield on November 26, 1955, to Leonard and Allene (McClelland) Johnson. He graduated from Griffin High School and worked at Fiat Allis in Springfield for ten years. He married his best friend and soulmate, Debbie Porter, on April 15, 1978, and together they shared over 40 beautiful years of life. Dave enjoyed working in many capacities, including his family farm, managing Aldi Foods in Taylorville for 12 years, and for the last 20 years as a Retail Manager for Walmart. Dave was incredibly resourceful and enjoyed working with his hands. Mostly woodworking, Dave carefully, immaculately crafted nearly all the woodwork and furniture within his home.  Dave would have done anything for anybody, and truly lived for others. He treasured tending to his garden. Dave was a proud member of the NRA.  Anything extracurricular his children did, Dave was there including boy scouts and girls softball. His selfless zest for life and his happy spirit will live on in those he left behind, and he will be deeply missed.


Along with his beloved wife, Dave leaves behind their two children: Jason (Kathy High) Johnson of Portland, OR, and Jamie (John) Jeffers, of Sparta, IL; siblings: Sally Prewitt, Robert (Connie) Johnson, Rose Johnson, Patricia Duknowski, Ed (Ann) Johnson, all of Springfield; his mother-in-law, Norma Porter; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Along with his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Porter; and four siblings: John Johnson, James Johnson, Tom Johnson, and Beth Prather.


A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 6 at McClure Funeral Home, with Pastor Dr. Ryan Follis officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, also at the funeral home.

 

Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Mary A. Cambruzzi

Mary A. Cambruzzi, 94, of Taylorville, passed away at 2:06 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Taylorville Care Center. She was born in Taylorville on June 30, 1924, the daughter of John and Mary (Mazzotti) Servi. She married Relio “Red” Cambruzzi on September 25, 1949 in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2016. Mary worked for Sangamon Paper Company, Taylorville Jr. High School Cafeteria, and in dietary at St. Vincent’s Hospital, where she finally retired. She enjoyed her work so much, she continued on at St. Vincent’s part time well into her 70’s. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the Catholic Daughters of America, the VFW Post 4495 Auxiliary, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.


Mary is survived by her son: Mike (Lorene) Cambruzzi of Taylorville; grandchildren: Jenelle (Myron) Stine of Dallas Center, IA; Kris (Stacie) Hancock of Carlinville; Vincent (Kelsey) Cambruzzi of Forsyth; Nikolas (Nicole) Cambruzzi of Tacoma, WA; great grandchildren: Hailie Hancock, Keira Stine, Addilyn Stine, Owen Hancock, Hollie Hancock, Dominic Hancock; one sister: Annetta Calandro of Taylorville; sister-in-law: Shirley Servi; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband Red, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: John “Pete” Servi, Nathanial “Babe” Servi, Andrew Servi; brother-in-law: Sam Calandro, and sister-in-law: Helen Servi.


Visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, August 2, from 5 – 7:00 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  Funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Al Allen officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Patient Programs, 675 East Linton Avenue, Springfield, IL 62703.
