Kathy Bona

Kathy May Bona, 62, of Taylorville died at 8:57 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on December 18, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Gordon and Bethel (Handley) Cline. She married Bradley M. Bona on June 21, 1974 in Fridley, Minnesota. Kathy was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church. In 1992, she and Brad opened A-Frame on the square in Taylorville. Kathy was a gifted artist, who excelled in oils and loved all mediums. 
She is survived by her husband, Brad Bona of Taylorville; children: Jarod Bona (Mary) of Rancho Santa Fe, California, Heather Bona of Taylorville, Chris Bona (Janna) of Round Rock, Texas, and Jamie Bona of San Diego, California; grandchildren: Oscar Bona and Liam Bona; siblings: Connie Holman of Plano, Texas, Judy Holman of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Nancy Carlson (Don) of Plymouth, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and step father: Roy Holman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Taylorville First United Methodist with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville. Mary Elizabeth Bresh

 

Mary Elizabeth Bresh; 70 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 3:49 p.m. at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville. She was born on October 1, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of George Edward and Marcella Arlene (Durbin) Bresh. She graduated from St. Mary’s School, Taylorville High School and Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana. She received her masters towards her teaching degree in Louisiana. She was a member of Faith Community Church in Taylorville, IL and she loved her Christian faith, family, friends, children and animals. She taught elementary school in Hodge and Jonesboro Louisiana for 30 years.

Mary was survived by her Siblings, Shirley Tarrant, Georgianna (Jerry) Pagliai and Marlena Gartshore. She also has several Nieces and nephews including Debbie (Dave) Hill, Doug (Maureen) Tarrant, Brian Tarrant, Steve (Cindy) Tarrant, Joe (Melanie) Tarrant, Stephanie (Tony) Verardi, Kim (Tim) Metsker, Jeana (Steve) Lomprez, Tina (Brad) Chamness; Close friends Jamie Penrod of Taylorville, IL; Judy Greer of Quitman, LA., Several Great- Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, nephew Greg Tarrant and Brother-in-Law Joe Tarrant.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville With Pastor Jerry Thorpe officiating.

Julia P. Zeitler

Julia P. “Judy” Zeitler, 84 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. She was born on February 28, 1932 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Chester and Elva (Brookens) Cook. She married Delmar C. “Zeke” Zeitler on June 10, 1950 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2016. Judy worked as a Purchasing Agent for Georgia Pacific and later she worked as a secretary in the Taylorville City Clerk’s office.

Surviving are her Son: Mike (Lori) Zeitler of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Colleen) Zeitler of Naperville, IL; Kurt Zeitler and Companion Caitlin Donovan of Taylorville, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Ava, Mazy, Van and Amelia; Sisters: Rosetta (Jack) Neal of Phoenix, AZ, Marcia Shelite of Pana, IL; Brothers: Bob Cook of Cheyenne, WY and Larry Cook of Belleville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Brothers: Stanley Cook and Leroy Cook; Sisters: Minnie Griffin, Elizabeth Murray and Janice Beck.

August William Huebner

August William Huebner; 64 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 4:48 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on October 15, 1952 the son of Fritz John and Ruth Martha (Krouse) Huebner. He married Cheryl Schultz and they were later divorced. He worked as an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad.

He is survived by his Son Matt Huebner of Taylorville, IL; Brother: Paul Huebner of Decatur, IL and Several Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his Brother Fritz Huebner Jr.

Mr. Huebner was cremated and there will be a Memorial Service announced at a later date.

Elsie L. Baccadutre

 

Elsie L. Baccadutre, 86, of Taylorville passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 16, 1930 in Tower Hill, the daughter of Frec C. and Edna Marie (Severe) Russell. On February 3, 1951 she married Michael Baccadutre in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2001. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She worked several jobs throughout the years including: a beautician at Howard’s Beauty Salon, Rothly Clothing Manufacturing, as an operator for the Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company, and she retired from St. John’s Hospital where she worked as a switchboard operator. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, and writing poetry. Elsie was loved by everyone that knew her. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter: Lana Hixenbaugh (Dave) and son: Mark Baccadutre (Carole) both of Taylorville ; grandchildren: Matthew Hixenbaugh (Calli) of St. Louis, Missouri, Jason Baccadutre (Nicolette) of St. Joseph, and Michelle Fortado (Jordan) of Effingham; great grandchildren: Cloey Hixenbaugh, Auggie Baccadutre, and Marcus Fortado; siblings: Shirley Coultus of Tower Hill, Rosemary Russell of Shelbyville, and Carl Russell of Pana; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 9 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. Valery Burusu and Sr. Rose McKeown officiating. Gladys E. Tippitt

Gladys E. Tippitt, 84 of Dawson passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 12:39 a.m. at her residence in Dawson. She was born on November 3, 1932 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Walter and Alma (Elders) Prior. She married Donald Tippitt on November 5, 1950 in Taylorville, IL. She worked as a homemaker and she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Taylorville.

Surviving are her Husband: Donald of Taylorville, IL; Son: Daniel (Fiancée Laura) Tippitt of Dawson, IL; Daughter: Linda (Patrick) Regan of North Carolina; Nine Grandchildren; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Margaret Burge of Taylorville, IL; Laverta Tewell of Taylorville, IL; Erma Mills of Taylorville; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Dennis Lee Cox

 

Dennis Lee Cox, 81, of Taylorville, died at 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. He was born on August 23, 1935 in Herrin, Illinois, the son of Cyrus and Mary (Bond) Cox. He married Barbara Jaeger on October 8, 1983 in Farmersville, Illinois.

 

Dennis graduated from Tilden Tech High School in Chicago and worked as a draftsman and sold real estate before coming to Taylorville, where he worked as an electrician until his retirement. He served for two years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and elder for many years.

 

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Cox of Taylorville; nieces: Mary Jo (Bill) Dively, Kathy (Bob) Noblet, Sharon (Bill) Matthews all of Taylorville, Rhonda (Steve) Wagner of Frankfort, Jessica (Joe) Chappelear of Hillsboro, Erin (Mitch) Rosenthal of St. Joseph, Kirby (Justin) Orr of Troy, and Taylor Wernsing of St. Louis, Missouri; numerous great nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law: Kathy (Larry) Wernsing of Raymond. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Betty McNamara, and brother-in-law: Corky McNamara.

 

The funeral service will be held at 12noon on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday in the church. Chantel Murphy, 38 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 9:54 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on October 30, 1978 in Springfield, IL the Daughter of Steve and Betty (Durbin) Perry. She married Sean Murphy on September 24, 2005 in Taylorville, IL.ber 8, 2005. She was the Administrator/Nurse at Taylorville Estates. Chantel was a proud Air Force Mother.

Pauline Lavina Reid

Pauline Lavina (Walker) Reid, 86 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 1:35 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born on April 19, 1930 in Edwardsville, IL the Daughter of William and Recka (Streustc) Walker. She married Joe Cioni and he preceded her in death, She then married Richard Reid and he also preceded her in death. She was a retired tavern owner and a member of the Free Methodist Church in Taylorville.

Surviving are her Sister-in-Law Catherine Walker; Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her sister: Betty Bentley.

Shirley Menin

 

Shirley Menin, 81, of Nokomis, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 6:15 a.m. at her residence in Nokomis. She was born December 9, 1935 in Fillmore, IL. The Daughter of Raymond and Eileen (Hanabarger) Williams. She married Larry Menin on May 8, 1966 in Vandalia, IL and he later preceded her in death on March 9, 2010. She worked as a homemaker.

She is survived by her Son: Frank Menin (Trisha Beaty) of Gilbert, AZ; Daughters: Teresa (John) Stephens of Nokomis, IL; Tamra (Mike) Stone of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Bryan Nash of Fort Campbell, KY, Bobby Nash of Nokomis, IL; Isabella and Natalia Menin of Gilbert, AZ, Samantha Stone of Springfield, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Abby and Piper Nash of Fort Campbell, KY. Lillian Linton

 

Lillian "Maxine" (Shaw) Linton, 90 of Edinburg arrived in heaven at 7:55 p.m. December 12, 2016. Maxine was born October 29, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Floy (White) Shaw. Maxine married Donald Linton on July 11, 1946. Donald preceded her in death on April 25, 2012.

Maxine loved serving God. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for sixty-six years. She taught Sunday School for many years and she and her husband Donald served as Sr. High Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) leaders. She was also assistant church treasurer and cooked for many turkey dinners and pot lucks. She loved volunteering at the Edinburg and Pawnee schools assisting with reading and a variety of school events. Her family was the center of her life and she took an active role in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

 

 

Maxine loved to work and enjoyed many jobs throughout her life. After graduating from high school Maxine received a special teaching certification so she could teach school during World War II. Maxine taught at Greenwood School, a one room school house in rural Edinburg. Maxine worked at the Kincaid Lumber Company and was a partner in L.W. Realty, Edinburg and The World of Health, Taylorville. She kept busy on the family farm by keeping the farm records and delivering many meals to the field. Maxine worked for 20 years at Horace Mann and retired from her job as an agent secretary at the age of 85.

 

 

Maxine is survived by her children: Marsha (Frank) Farr of Taylorville, L.W. (Kathy) Linton of Edinburg; grandchildren: Todd (Aubrie) Megginson of Pawnee, D.R. Linton of Edinburg, Ashley Linton of Stonington, Dylan (Tiffany) Linton of Fisher, MacKenzie Stork of Taylorville, Morgan Farr of Taylorville, A. Shaw Megginson of CA; great grandchildren: Rand Linton, Tadd and Marlee Megginson, Sydney Stork, Brody DeClerck; sister: Marilyn Osborne of Iowa City, IA.; niece and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

 

 

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Rand Linton Megginson, a sister-in-law, and brother-in-laws.

 

A service to celebrate Maxine's life will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church, 1919 N. 1000 East Road, Taylorville on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 a.m., and the Honorable Judge Ron Spears presiding. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery, Lake Sang Chris.

Blake Hoffman

 

Blake Hoffman, 25 of Morrow, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 12:45 p.m. in Warren County, OH. He was born on December 17, 1990 in Springfield, IL the Son of Grant Hoffman and Marcia Fleming-Hoffman. He married Kristin Brown on April 1, 2013 and they were later divorced. He worked as a concrete finisher for ACR Concrete in Ohio.

Surviving are his Father: Grant Hoffman and Fiancé Sara Pennock and Mother: Marcia Fleming-Hoffman of Taylorville; Daughter: Aliyah Grace Hoffman of Ohio; Brothers: Dante Matthew Hoffman of Springfield, IL; Josh Emmerling of Taylorville, IL; Grandparents: Steve and Donna Lounsberry of Springfield, IL; Brenda Adams of Springfield, IL; Niece: Alyssa Emmerling and Nephew: Zac McPeek.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Blake is going to be cremated following the visitation.

Robert R. Deweese; 76 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 5:30 a.m. at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, IL. He was born on October 4, 1940 in Taylorville to Orman and Mary (Oller) Deweese. He married Dixie Ethridge in 1969 and they were divorced. He attended Taylorville High school.

He is survived by his Son Larry (Eric) Wilson-Deweese of Willowbrook, IL; Nieces: Linda (Armand) Tippet, Rhea (Don) Williams, Mary Kessler, Dawn (Bob) Zwick; Several Great Nieces and Nephews; Great Great Nieces and Nephews and a Great Great Great Nephew. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Betty (Oscar) Green, Brother Don Deweese, two nephews and his ex wife.

Brian McWard

 

Brian McWard, 53 of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. He was born on September 3, 1963 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Darrell and Patricia (Wiseman) McWard. He worked as a Janitor for Jan San Janitorial Company in Decatur.

Surviving are his Parents: Darrell and Patricia McWard of Decatur, IL; Sisters: Mary Louise (Chuck) Alvey of Taylorville, IL; Niece: Ashley Alvey of Taylorville, IL; Several Aunts and Uncles. He was preceded in death by his Maternal and Paternal Grandparents two sisters in infancy: Barbara Jo and Susan Lynn McWard.

Michael J. Fleigle

 

Michael J. Fleigle, 60, of Taylorville passed away at 11:15am on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in the Taylorville Memorial Hospital E.R. He was born on December 9, 1955 in Taylorville, the son of Joseph and Barbara (Jones) Fleigle. On March 10, 1981 in Taylorville he married Gwendolyn Stockon. He previously served in the US Navy. Mike had many jobs throughout the years, and most recently owned and operated his own lawn care business. He was a fan of NASCAR, wrestling, and enjoyed collecting coins.

Michael is survived by his wife: Gwendolyn Fleigle of Taylorville; mother: Barbara Fleigle of Taylorville; siblings: Patrick Fleigle (Janet) of Pawnee, Christine Barrow (Nick) of Springfield, and Melanie Howe (Kevin) of Dyer, Indiana; step-children: Harold Gist (Terenia) of Taylorville and Vivian Neff of Taylorville; step-grandchildren: Eboni Kelsey, Jesse Perry, Brittany Neal, Tyler Gist, and Ashley Basil; 4 step-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Heidi Henry, Nicole Payne, Justin Pop, Ashley Barrow, Holly Lutes, and Megan Simpson. He was preceded in death by his father: Joseph Fleigle.

James Faris Brubeck

 

James Faris Brubeck, 84, of Palmetto, FL, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Jim was the youngest child of Harry A. and Iva Lopossa Brubeck, and grew up on a farm outside Taylorville, Illinois. He was an avid Boy Scout, earning Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scout, and serving as Scout Master for many years in Normal, IL.

 

Jim met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hughes, while they were attending Eastern Illinois University, and they married on March 7, 1952. Jim earned his master’s degree at Ball State University, and did doctoral work at Colorado State College in Greeley. He taught in Muncie, Indiana; Litchfield, Illinois; and at University High School in Normal before joining the faculty at Illinois State University in 1957. As a professor, Jim taught sales, business, and marketing courses, and supervised many students at internships in local businesses. Jim used his sales expertise working at Montgomery Wards, J.C. Penney’s, and Johnny Martin Chevrolet during their years in Normal.

 

Jim reveled in family gatherings, always accompanied by Barb’s great cooking. Disney World was a special place for the family, and long before any tour guidebooks listed tips, Jim had already figured out the best route to take to avoid the huge crowds in the park.

 

He loved camping, and took the family on many trips. He and Barb built a KOA campground in rural Carlock in 1971, which they operated for 13 years. Together, they won many awards for Excellence from KOA, and for Sales Leadership from Fleetwood RV. He continued to sell RV’s after retirement.

 

The entertainer in Jim loved music – especially ballroom dancing with Barb. He played trombone, enjoyed singing, and in recent years emceed dances at several parks near their home in Florida.

 

Jim was a lifelong Methodist, and a member of First United Methodist Church in Normal.

 

He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Becky (Thomas) Nicol, Denise (Barry) Mears, Teresa (Mike) Payne, Harry (Sheri) Brubeck, Brenda (Dennie) Williams, David (Cornelia) Brubeck; grandchildren Bonnie (Andrew Rizzo) Benton, James (Jenni Sisson) Benton, Aubrey Benton, Tim Leonard, Troy (Jean) Leonard, Brett Leskovisek, Tom (Daiana) Brubeck, Rachel Brubeck, Chris Williams, Adam Williams, Cayman Brubeck, and Adrian Brubeck; and great-grandchildren Brittany Ann Marie Symons, Frankie Symons, Haley Grace Leonard, James David Leonard, and Cameron Benton Rizzo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and this year by his sisters, Jean Ellis and Harriet White.

 

Visitation will be held from 11a.m. – 1p.m. on Monday, December 12, at Taylorville First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church and will be officiated by Rev. Becky Nicol, with interment at Grove City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Normal, Illinois. Andrew E. Marucco

 

Andrew E. Marucco, 93, of Stonington passed away at 8pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Rochester. He was born on July 17, 1923 in Stonington, the son of Charles and Sophia (Sebastian) Marucco. He married Kathryn Shadowens on October 29, 1945 in Sacramento, California. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2003. Andy was a veteran of the US Navy. He served Christian County Sheriff’s Department as Sheriff from 1958 until 1962 and Chief Deputy from 1954 until 1958. After being Sheriff, he was the Superintendent of Lake Taylorville from 1962 until 1964. Before retiring in 1984, he was the chief investigator for the State of Illinois, Department of Regulation and Education. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight, Sheriff’s Association, Stonington American Legion, and the VFW post 4496. Andy was the manager of the CVA for over 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing.

He is survived by his son: Joe Marucco (Nancy) of Cleveland, Tennessee; daughters: Mary Ann Yoho (John) of Bradenton, Florida and Helen Crusen (Tom) of Rochester; 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother: Maggio Marucco, and sister: Elsie Taylor.

A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial with military honors will take place in the Ponting Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 until 5 at McClure Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3pm.
