Ronald K. Pride, 76 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 5:17 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born on November 10, 1945 in Chicago, IL the son of Leo Pride and Marjorie (Marsh). He married Sharon and they were married for 15 years until she preceded him in death. Ron was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Taylorville.

He is survived by his Sister: Marsha and Brother Ricky of California, cousins: Karen (Les) Foraker of Taylorville, IL, Wanda Elam of Taylorville, IL, Judy Saucier of Decatur, IL, Paula (Criag) Hagan of Taylorville, IL, Robert Smith of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, parents, twin Brother: Roger, Sister Linda Prescott and Grandmother: Martha Marsh who raised him.  

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic, IL with Pastor Russ Burch officiating.

Ronald “Ronnie” Baggett, 65, of Taylorville passed away at 9:36 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Ronnie was born September 14, 1957, in Ft. Worth, TX.  He graduated from Trinity High School in Euless, TX.  Ronnie was always a joy to be around, especially for his family.  He loved to golf, and he loved to eat.  Ronnie was especially a fan of Popeye’s Chicken.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Taylorville.

Ronnie is survived by his father, Harold L. Airhart of Taylorville; siblings, Kenny (wife, Sherry) Baggett of Ft. Worth, TX, Sharon Robertson of Miami, OK, Phillip (wife, Allie) Baggett of Taylorville, and Tony Baggett of Arlington, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn (Gaither) Airhart.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no public services will be held.

Jordan Marie Taglioli, 36 of Taylorville, passed away at 10:32a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born on June 17, 1986 in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph and Patti (Hedgpeth) Taglioli.  Jordan was a lover of animals, especially dogs.  She adored her nieces and nephews and loved spending time with them.  Jordan was an avid sports fan, especially the Houston Texans and North Carolina Tar Heels.  She spent many years working at her father’s dentist office helping in many capacities.  More than anything, Jordan will be remembered as a fighter, having valiantly battled cancer for many years. 

She is survived by her mother: Patti Taglioli of Taylorville; father: Dr. Joseph Taglioli of Taylorville; brother: Travis Berger of Houston, Texas; sisters: Maggi Markwell and Ariann Taglioli (Nate Pinnell) both of Taylorville; nieces: Kiarra and Amyriah and nephews: Adrien, Hudson, Abel, Adaiah, and Alec; grandfather: Bill Hedgpeth of Dallas, Texas; aunts and uncle: Kathy Thomas (Jeff) of Taylorville, Jim Fassero of Kincaid, Janet Pattillo of Altamont, and Steve Patillo of Altamont; and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Maxine Hedgpeth and Margaret “Mag” and Gene Taglioli; aunts: Barbara Fassero, Marylynn Edwards, and Kay Goldberg; and uncle: Randy Hedgpeth.

Jordan will be cremated, and a visitation will take place from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at McClure Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday with Fr. Ms. Patricia R. Erkman, age 84, of Taylorville died at 4:37 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Taylorville. 

She was born April 2, 1938, in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of Manoah Ernest and Ollie Hilden (Samuels) Wiley.

Pat retired from the Air Force Civil Service in 1994 after 33 years. She felt fortunate to have traveled the world for her job, visiting 20 countries, 45 states, and living at over 45 different addresses. One of her favorite locations was living in Germany especially when her daughter was able to be with her. After her retirement, she began her second career of 10 years at Southwestern Illinois College, retiring from that position in 2007. She was a member of First Methodist Church in O'Fallon, Illinois. 

To be close to family, she made Taylorville her home for the last six years. This proximity allowed her to enjoy even more delicious family dinners prepared by talented family members and spend lots of time with her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing her home on West Main Cross with family and friends for parades and holidays. She loved spending time with family, reading, sewing, traveling - including trips to Myrtle Beach, and was always ready to go to a casino. 

Surviving are her daughter, Debra L. Wells (husband, Don) of Taylorville; grandchildren, Heather M. Giannino (husband, Anthony) of Trophy Club, Texas and Zachary R. Wells,

(fiancée, Stephanie Dye) of Taylorville; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Addison Giannino and Henry Wells; honorary great-grandchildren, Amie and Cash Dye; and several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Martha Gidcumb; half-sister, Dorothy Curtis; and half-brothers: Harry, Jack, and James Lawrence.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the Olde Bowl, 300 S. Spresser St, Taylorville, Illinois.

Brian Christopher Callan, 34 of Stonington, passed away at 2:29p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Pana Community Hospital.  He was born on November 18, 1987 in Taylorville, the son of Daniel E. and Lynn A. (Woodward) Callan.  Brian worked as an assistant on a local farm and attended Davis Memorial Christian Church.  He loved animals, especially his dog Hope.  Brian enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, and could always manage to find a 4-leaf clover anywhere he looked.  He will be remembered as an old soul who had a giving personality who would give you the shirt off his back even if he didn’t have one to replace it. 

Brian is survived by his mother: Lynn Callan of Stonington; father: Dan Callan (Connie) of Stonington; brother: Andrew Callan of Stonington; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Bernard and Marcella Woodward and John and Ada Jean Callan; aunt: Cathy Callan; cousins: Kate Anderson and Sam VanGeison; and girlfriend: Keirsty Hughes.

Rhonda Pearl Stout, 69, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL. Rhonda was born on April 29, 1953, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Taylor and Pearl “Freda” (Johnson) Myers. She married David Stout on June 22, 1973, at the First United Methodist Church in Litchfield, IL.

She is survived by her husband, David Stout; brother, Tom (Kathy) Myers of Springfield, IL; brothers-in-law, Steve (Jennifer) Stout and Bruce Stout (husband, Roland) of Palm Springs, CA; nieces, Andrea Myers, Abby Stout, and Nicole Stout of Springfield, IL; She was also survived by many cousins.

Rhonda was also preceded in death by her parents, many aunts and uncles, in-laws Richard and Betty Stout, and her loving pet dog, Snickers.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Carlinville, IL. Rhonda loved shoes, purses, jewelry, and shopping, especially at Wal-Mart. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed visiting many Casinos and Fall Festivals.

Joseph L. Petty, 78, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Carle Hospital in Champaign, IL. He was born on January 22, 1944, in Pana, IL, the son of Donald and Helen (Bolte) Petty. Joseph was a self-employed contractor, focusing on home renovation and construction, for many years. Joseph was an avid cardinal fan, he enjoyed racing motorcycles, golfing, and he loved his dogs.

He is survived by his children, Brandon Petty of Nokomis, IL, and Shelly Petty of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Maddyson Petty, Samantha Koonce and Dayton Koonce; siblings, Jerry (Sue) Petty, Rod (Sue) Petty, Dennis Petty, companion, Jan Richardson, Randy (Penny) Petty, J.P. (Mary) Petty, and Chris Petty. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Diane Petty and Reg Petty, nephew, Nick Petty.

Darlene Patty Collebrusco, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on April 26, 1934 in Pleasant Plains, IL the daughter of Lloyd and Pearl (Pyle) Luttrell. She married John L. Collebrusco on June 15, 1954 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1997. She worked as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Langleyville Public Water District. Darlene was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, IL and the TOPS Group.

She is survived by her daughters: Kim (Bob) Brown of Stonington, IL, Cindy (Mick) Brown of Taylorville, IL, Jill (Art) Bohlen of Taylorville, IL, Becky (Travis) Norris of Taylorville, IL, sons: Tony (Renee) Collebrusco of Taylorville, IL, Kent (Kim) Collebrusco of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Joshua Brown, Rex Brown, Jared Brown, Nathan Brown, Michelle Smith, Katie Prehn, Jordan Norris, Justin Norris and Rachel Kuntzman; sisters: Nancy Andrews and Joyce Woods both of Taylorville, IL; several great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara A. Rupel, 75, of Taylorville, entered eternal rest on September 24, 2022, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. 

Barb was born January 7, 1947, in Lafayette, IN, the daughter of George and Betty (Graham) Dukes.  She married Robert Rupel in Lafayette, IN, and later divorced. He preceded her in death, on July 11, 2016. She was known to be loving, caring, and energetic. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were most important to her. Outside of living in Brookston for 22 years, she was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, and she worked as a city bus driver for twenty years. She loved playing cards, bingo, watching crime dramas, and her ‘soaps’ – especially, Days of Our Lives.

Barb is survived by her children, Michael L. (Jenna) Hughes of New Orleans, LA, Pam (Kevin) Macha of Pawnee, IL, and Vincent Hughes of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Hudson, Dustin (Daphne), Caleb (Taylor), Noah (Angel), and William; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Athena; brother, George A. ‘Pete’ (Victoria) Dukes of Jacksonville, FL; and brother-in-law, Harry Jackson of Lafayette, IN.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Linda Austin, Diana Davis, Nancy Silver, and Marilyn Jackson; and two brothers, William L. Dukes and James R. Dukes.

Theresa Pearl Edwards Thomas, 86, of Kincaid, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Theresa was born October 8, 1935, in Taylorville, the daughter of Otis and Mary C. “Mamie” (Graham) Owens.  She married Leslie L. Edwards on October 8, 1952, and they later divorced.  Theresa then married Kenneth L. Thomas on October 14, 1978, in Kincaid.  He preceded her in death on April 6, 2004.

Theresa was a homemaker and devoted her life to being a loving mother and grandmother, that would do anything for her family.  She loved huge family gatherings, where she could cook and bake her famous homemade bread and egg noodles. Theresa was crafty, a talented seamstress, and avid crocheter. She loved dogs, reading, and was a fantastic yodeler.  In her youth, she would amaze the neighborhood children by walking on her hands all the way around her house.  Theresa will always remain in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Leslie C. Edwards; and siblings, Rita Crowder, Florence Ellrich, Leona Tex, Doug Owens, Theotis “Stub” Davis, Marilyn Wilson, and Don Owens.

Theresa is survived by her children, Laura “Cindy” Chamness of Kincaid, Monica (husband, James “Mark”) Lottes of Semora, NC, and Clete Edwards of Taylorville; grandchildren, Damon J. (wife, Barb) Chamness of Tovey, Michelle C. Lottes of Semora, NC, Jillian (husband, Zachary) Schatzman of Matthews, NC, James C. Lester Lee Mathews passed away September 22, 2022. He was born February 16, 1942 to Bernard Emery Mathews and Eunice Elmira Ramp Mathews in Peoria, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ford Mathews, son Rob David Mathews (Brenna Cook Mathews) of Taylorville, Illinois, step-grandsons Charles James (CJ) and Jack Robert Boston, daughter Deanna Lynne Mathews Kilbourne (James Kilbourne) of Urbana, Illinois, sister Evelyn Mathews Marsh (Robert), and many nieces and nephews.

After beginning school in Yates City, Illinois, Lester then attended schools in Polo, Illinois, majoring in horses, hot rods and cattle shows, building his own herd of registered Shorthorn cattle. After returning to the Yates City area, over the years, he farmed in Elba township, built an extensive grain handling and storage facility, enjoyed horses, Black and tan and Bluetick hunting hounds, fishing and hunting coyotes with the Farmington Balagna crew, target shooting and gun collecting. Lester developed his love of metalworking and repair work through his on-farm General Machine Service business, and thoroughly enjoyed devising solutions and creating special parts and repairs for his clients. This moved on into the creation and manufacture of the Beanhustler grain handling system, that was sold and utilized by farmers in many states. He also loved operating his earth moving machines. Anything to do with machines, Les was in his element.

Les especially enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie present in small town Yates City, including lunching and visiting with friends and staff in Jody's Place. He loved his small town, family and friends. After retiring, Les and Brenda moved to Taylorville, Illinois, to be close to family.

Cremation will be provided by McClure Funeral Home and Cremation of Taylorville, Illinois. A private inurnment service will be held at Yates City Cemetery, Yates City, Illinois at a later date, as well as a Celebration of Life gathering. Memorials may be made to the Yates City Cemetery Association.

Norma Jean Hawkins, 89 of Owaneco, passed away at 1:51a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on May 15, 1933 in Elgin, the daughter of Melvin and Helen (Block) Blietz.  She married John William Hawkins on January 28, 1956 in South Elgin, Illinois and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2013.  Norma and her husband operated Red Gate Kennel where they raised many dogs including Collies, Welsh Corgis, and Jack Russell Terriers.  She enjoyed working puzzles.  More than anything, Norma loved spending time at her rural home, caring for her property and animals. 

She is survived by her children: Brian Hawkins (Tina) of Pana, Teresa Holcomb of Springfield, Dawn Pierce (Wade) of Alexandria, Virginia, and Jennifer Foster (Alan) of Potosi, Missouri; grandchildren: Rachel Hawkins, Sara Hawkins, Kristi Millburg, Sara Maxson, Kyle Maxson, Emily Pierce, Erin Meek, and Faith Pierce; 11 great grandchildren; and brother: James Black of Elgin.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister: Patsy Black.

David Lee Samson, 71, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:27 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Taylorville Care Center.

David was born July 18, 1951, in Taylorville, the son of Lynn W. and Lena M. (Luttrell) Samson.  He worked for many years at Alma Plastics.  David enjoyed family gatherings, and he looked forward to every minute spent with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Forrest and Ronnie Samson.

David is survived by his daughter, Lesley M. Samson of Wiggins, MS; longtime companion, Kellie Underwood of Hewittville; siblings, Bobby Samson of Taylorville, Charles (wife, Tillie) Samson of Auburn, Darrell Samson of Virden, and Martha LaVoie of Salt Lake City, UT; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry Gene Sutton, 83 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:01 p.m. at Carriage Crossing Senior Living Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born on June 25, 1939 in Taylorville, IL the son of Raymond G. and Olleva M. (Lusk) Sutton. He married Betty Smothers on October 23, 1966 in Pawnee, IL. Larry was the owner and operator of Sutton Memorial Home and Sutton Ambulance Service in Taylorville where he devoted over 50 years of his life to serving the people of Taylorville and the surrounding communities. He was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge #675 A.F. & A.M. in Pawnee, IL and the Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Sutton of Taylorville, daughter: Lori (Don) Bettis of Taylorville, Aaron (Tammy) Sutton of Springfield, IL; grandsons: Austin (Miranda) Peters of Taylorville, Evan Peters of Taylorville and Ryan (Delanie) Peters of Taylorville; Great-Granddaughters: Colbie, Collins and Allison Peters; Sisters-in-Law: Virginia Sutton of Sauk City, WI, Maria Sutton of Mesquite, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Donald Ray, Gary and, Richard Sutton in infancy and great-granddaughter: Kinsley Peters.

Bonnie L. Hornbeck, 91 of Taylorville, passed away at 5:35a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on March 10, 1931, the daughter of Glen and Gesina (Janssen) Vanzant.  She married Frank R. Hornbeck on December 17, 1949 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2022.  She worked as a nurse’s aid at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.  Bonnie was member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in many aspects of the church’s ministry including, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, bible school teacher, choir and the Aid Association for Lutherans/Thrivent.  She volunteered at the TLC daycare and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.  She and Frank loved to travel together. 

She is survived by her children: Allen (Patricia) Hornbeck of Champaign, Brenda (Michael) Seeley of Taylorville; grandchildren: Jimmy (Paula) Crisp, Billy Crisp, Emily (Michael) Przyborski, Brian (Rebecca) Hornbeck; great grandchildren: Xander, Hazel, Evan, Layla, Kira, and Alyssa; sister: Nila (Charles) Koch of Huey; brother: Dwain (Debbie) Vanzant of Decatur; and sister-in-law: Velma Langen of Springfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson: Tim Crisp; brother: Merle Vanzant; and sister: Glenda Sikes.

Margaret Louise “Peggy” Hurelbrink, 78 of Edinburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 in her home.  She was born on April 15, 1944 in Edinburg, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Prater) Thomas.  She marred Donald Robert Hurelbrink on May 25, 1963 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2019.  Peggy was a homemaker and had a love of crafts.  She enjoyed arranging flowers, painting, and crafts of all types.  She will be remembered by her gentle, loving soul.

She is survived by her daughter: Anna Hurelbrink-Nick of Edinburg; grandchildren: Katie Nick of Cape Coral, Florida and James R Tousignant (Amanda) of Anoka, Minnesota; great grandchildren: Kaliah Rose Tousignant and Kyleigh Grace Tousignant; siblings: John Thomas (Pat) of Linter, Connie Busonic (Mike) of Morrisonville, and Joe Thomas (Nancy) of Longview, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson: Matthew Nick; and sister: Pat Colclasure (Art).

Harry Feliciano, Jr., 46, of Taylorville, passed away unexpectedly at 11:44 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Harry was born July 7, 1976, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the son of Harry and Rosa Maria (Mendez) Feliciano, Sr.  He worked for many years as a mechanic.  Harry enjoyed fishing, painting, and he loved cars.

He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Harold Feliciano.

Harry is survived by his parents, Harry and Rosa Maria Feliciano, Sr. of West Palm Beach, FL; his children, Angelica Feliciano of Springfield, MA, Harry S. (wife, Maeliz Colom) Feliciano of Holyoke, MA, Solimar Feliciano of Springfield, MA, and Ismael Feliciano of Springfield, MA; grandchildren, Solimarie and Yaneilz; siblings, Rosa, Ramon, Antonio, Mercy, and Damaris Feliciano; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dorothy A. Harvel, 94, of Morrisonville, passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Dorothy was born March 9, 1928, in Morrisonville, the daughter of Noah Leo and Wilma Lorene (Lyerla) Durbin, Sr.  She married Joseph LeVoy Harvel on August 29, 1959, in Taylorville, and they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage.  Dorothy was a homemaker, and member of St. Maurice Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Noah L. Durbin, Jr.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Joseph of Morrisonville; sister, Barbara A. Tirey of Taylorville; sister-in-law, Betty J. Durbin of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside ceremony was held at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville with Rev. Florent Kanga officiating.

John Wesley Chance, 64 of Taylorville, passed away in his home on Friday, September 9, 2022.  He was born on September 2, 1958 in Peoria, the son of J. C. and Edith L. (Anderson) Chance.  John loved spending time with his friends, especially while camping. 

He is survived by his children: Travis Chance (Stacy) of Taylorville and Haley Huddleston (Chris) of Decatur; grandchildren: Eliza Huddleston, Carter Chance, and Evie Huddleston; former wife: Terri Lynn Chance; and siblings: Carol Ramsey, Sarah Chance, Bobbi Hirstein, and Grace Flachbart.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Leon Chance, Betty McMillen, and Mary Jo Curran.

Ora “Ed” E. Craig Jr., 56 of Janesville, WI formerly of Taylorville lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 7:48 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. He was born on June 21, 1966 in Taylorville, IL the son of Ora E. Craig Sr. and Virginia M. (Wessel) Craig. He      married Cheryl Wilson on September 27, 1986 in Taylorville, IL. Ed loved everything outdoors especially, fishing, hunting, and Mushroom hunting which he did all his life.  He loved his family and his dogs. He was an avid movie Buff and liked to read. Ed worked as the Warehouse Manager at McLane and Manufacturing Supervisor Lavelle in Whitewater, WI. Ed graduated from Taylorville High School in the Class of 1984.

He is survived by his wife: Cheryl Craig of Janesville, WI, daughter: Cassandra Craig of Belleville, WI; son: Christopher Craig of Euless, TX; mother: Virginia Craig of Taylorville, brother: John (Marlene) Craig of Moweaqua, IL; sister: Lori (Mike) Walter of Owaneco, IL; several nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ora E. Craig Sr, grandparents Ora F. and Mary Craig, John and Phyllis Wessel, nephews Justin Craig and William Walter.

Leonard “Lee” R. Blackwell, 79 of Bulpitt, IL passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 6:53 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. He was born on June 2, 1943 in Stonington, IL the son of Walter Nulty and Martha Frances (Watson) Blackwell. He married Elizabeth Jane Heyen on June 20, 1970 and divorced in 1976. He later married Patricia McKenzie on September 11, 1993. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2018.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had many careers over his lifetime- truck driver, carpenter, upholsterer, leather crafter, toy train operator, jack-of-all-trades. Lee loved spending time with his family and friends and was known for always having a hot pot of coffee on hand to share when they stopped by.

Lee is survived by his daughter: LeAnne (Jason) Shoemaker of Decatur, IL; step-children: Kevin McKenzie of Naples, FL, Danielle Schertz of Hanna City, IL and Bill Schertz of Peoria, IL; honorary brother: Rolly (Diane) Moore of Palmer, IL and Sister: Linda Dickison of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter: Lori Jean Blackwell, brother: Ronald Blackwell and sister: Genevieve Carey.

Leonard was very passionate about the importance of education and wished to donate his body to science. There are no services planned at this time. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital and Moweaqua Rehabilitation Center.

Janet L. Fulk-Nolan, 82 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 3:03 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. She was born on January 16, 1940 in Blue Mound Township, IL the daughter of Eldo and Mary Emily (Steck) Harrell. She married Hallie L. Fulk on October 26, 1968 and he preceded her in death on July 3, 1992. She then Married Larry L. Nolan on February 8, 2002 and he also preceded her in death on February 24, 2022. Janet was a very devoted mother and Grandmother, being very active in her Children’s and Grandchildren’s Life. Janet was a devoted member and deaconess of the First Baptist Church in Taylorville until it closed. She was also a member of Christian County Home Extension. Janet would not miss an Illinois Basketball game that was on tv and she was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  

She is survived by her daughter: Theresa Stade of Divernon, IL, son: Hallie “Butch” Fulk and companion (Sally Badman) of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Adam, Aubrey and Lauren Stade; Kylie Badman and Kailyn Fulk; great-granddaughter June Dallas Peden-Stade; brother: Robert Harrell of Pekin, IL and sister: Beverly Weitekamp of Morrisonville, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her sister Mary Nolan.

Harold C. “Buck” Saulsberry, 66 of Mt. Auburn passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 7:14 p.m. at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on July 29, 1956 in Decatur, IL the son of Harold C. “Pud” and Mary Maxine (Ballinger) Saulsberry. He married Charlene Clayton on April 16, 1977 in Mt. Auburn, IL. Buck worked in Maintence for Borden Chemical, Formosa Plastics, Precision Products and Pryco. He loved to Bowl, Fish, Camp, and above all of that spend time with family and his grandkids.      

He is survived by his wife: Charlene Saulsberry of Mt. Auburn, IL; daughter: Melissa (Steven) Morefield of Mt. Auburn, IL; son: Michael (Kelly) Saulsberry of Granville, OH; grandchildren: Lane Morefield, Lucy Hedden, Fiona Saulsberry and Eleanor Saulsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Margaret E. McCann, 86 of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on December 1, 1935 in Murphysboro, the daughter of Alex and Marguerite (Pflasterer) Lawyer.  She married Howard L. McCann on June 22, 1957 in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1996.  Mrs. McCann was a member of the Taylorville Evangelical Free Church and enjoyed playing games and bingo.  She devoted her life to her family as a proud wife and mother of 6 children. 

She is survived by her children: Howard McCann Jr. of Poughkeepsie, New York, James McCann (Megan) of Harvel, Teresa McCann (Michael) of Daytona Beach, Florida, Darlene Morano (Stev) of Hyde Park, New York, and Mary Frances McCann of Taylorville; grandchildren: Kristen McCann, Tabitha Courrier, and Justin Courrier; great grandson: Leland Dyer; and siblings: Rose Kline and Paul Joe Lawyer.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Robert McCann; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Lee H. Cook, 69, of Assumption, died September 1, 2022, in his home.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Assumption.  Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to service time.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 

Lee was born on October 23, 1952 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Homer W. and Mary (Spaulding) Cook.  He married Joyce Minor on April 28, 1990 in Cairo, IL.  She survives.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce; son, Kent (Kim) Cook of Goodyear, AZ; daughter, Crystal (Mark) Cook-Young of Pana, IL; grandchildren: Vincent Cook of Stonington, IL and Mickayla Cook of Taylorville, IL; two great-grandchildren; brother, William (Marina) Cook of Fuquay Varina, NC; and sisters: Sue (Leroy) Bozarth of Rochester, IL, Cheryl (Dyke) Foster of Pana, IL, and Tena (Kimble) Koontz of Moweaqua, IL; sister-in-law, Marilou Cook; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lee was a1971 graduate of Assumption High School, a graduate of St. Mary’s School and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  He delighted thousands of children since the mid 1980’s as Santa, starting out with family and close friends.  Over the years his generosity expanded to include coworkers and their families, The Humpty Dumpty Day Care of Decatur, Assumption Fire Department, Warrensburg Fire Department, the Assumption Optimist Club (now the Knights of Columbus) and Decatur Memorial Hospital.

As a past member of Hi-Way Riders Motorcycle Club of Central Illinois, Lee was a “personal” Santa  for a specific needy family for 3 to 4 years.  He and the Hi-Way Riders were involved in many benefits and charitable events, including a yearly event for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in memory of Tom “Yamaha” Adermann.  The Hi-Way Riders and Lee also held a yearly benefit for both, the local Food Pantry and Toys for Tots, for several years.  Lee is a fourth Degree Knight and a Past Grand Knight for the Assumption Knights of Columbus Council 1026.

Lee has been a Make-A-Wish volunteer and was instrumental in making wishes come true for several terminally ill children in the area.  One special little girl by the name of Annie, stole his heart.  He has been involved in numerous benefits for her, and up until he got sick, he had only missed one of her birthday parties since she was 3 years old. She is now 21.

Lee has volunteered with the Emergency Chaplains Corps and “New York Says Thank You” after 911.  With them, he went to Greensburg, KS, Little Sioux, IA, and Mena, AR to help build various Community Centers and Chapels.

Lee is a member of the Elks Club, the Eagles Club, the Moose Club and the Moose Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.

Lee was a devoted husband, brother, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and a friend to just about anyone in need.

Preceding him in death are his parents; one grandchild; and brother, Bob Cook.

William Thomas “Tom” Greenwood, 83, of Taylorville, passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at his residence.

Tom was born October 16, 1938 in Kankakee, the son of William Fredrick Greenwood and Gertrude Updegraff.  He married Mary Ellen Essington on June 29, 1963 at the Buckingham Methodist Church.  They enjoyed nearly 58 years of marriage.  She preceded him in death on April 13, 2021.

Tom graduated from Taylorville High School with the Class of 1956 and joined the Marine Corps June 27^th of the same year, where he served as a hydraulics engineer working on amphibious equipment. After his time in the service he worked at Caterpillar, in Joliet, where he retired after 40 years.  After their retirement, Tom and Mary moved from Bourbonnais, IL to the Taylorville area. 

Tom enjoyed spending time in his yard, gardening, tending to flowers and feeding birds.  Once a month he liked to get together with several high school friends.  Tom loved having pets, and over the years owned many dogs and cats. He also enjoyed taking his family on vacations around the United States.  When he was younger, he enjoyed playing cards (Euchre & Pinochle), bowling, fishing, and reading the newspaper.  He listened to country music and was never seen without a pipe or cigar. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Richard Roy; granddaughter, Brittany Blumenthal-Hines; and sister, Carole Ann Greenwood-Petros.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Cindy (husband, Joe) Blumenthal of Chicago, and Mary Beth (Jason Lindsey) Greenwood of Taylorville; son, Jason (Kelly Lash) Greenwood of Vandalia; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.  The funeral ceremony will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
