Terry Burrus, 73 of Fillmore passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 5:50 p.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family in Fillmore. He was born on April 17, 1945 in Herrick, IL the son of Ivan and Hattie (VanAmburg) Burrus. He married Teresa Pugh on Septmeber 9, 2000 in Mulberry Grove. Terry worked as a foreman at Owens Brockway in Vandalia, IL and he was a member of Greenville First Christian Church. The family would like everyone to be in casual attire for the services.

William Douglas “Doug” Hudelson, 69, of Taylorville, went home to Heaven on April 25, 2018.  He was an identical twin born to John Thomas and Imogene Hudelson in Hillsboro, IL.  After high school he served in the US Navy, first as Yeoman at Naval Station Brig Philadelphia and then brother duty on board Air Craft Carrier USS Coral Sea during Vietnam with twin brother Donald Harry and older brother Gary John.  Doug worked for the United States Postal Service until his second bone marrow transplant in 1988.  He then went on to work for the Department of Rehab Services for the State of Illinois until he retired in 2009.  He was again diagnosed with leukemia in 2017 and had a stem cell transplant which was unsuccessful. He enjoyed playing piano, watching Cubs baseball games, and reading.  Doug was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Taylorville.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dalena Hudelson; sons, Matthew Scott Hudelson of Kingston, NY and Adam (Erica) Hudelson of Pana, IL; granddaughters, Megan Nicole and Samantha Leigh Hudelson; older brother Gary (Susan) Hudelson of Roanoke, VA and twin brother Donald (Deb) Hudelson of Hillsboro, IL.  He was preceded in death by both parents.

Born July 10, 1933, in Centralia, IL, the daughter of Harlan Homer & Ethel Mae (Beck) Smail. Flossie was a Retired Beautician & former Owner/Operator of Town & Country Salon, Ramsey & Pana, IL; a member of First Christian Church, Ramsey, IL and attended the Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church in Salem, IL. Flossie will be greatly missed by many dear friends.

Joseph E. Adams, 65 of Kincaid, died at 5:56 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in his home. Joe was born on March 6, 1953 in Mt. Auburn, one of nine children born to Charles and Bessie (Shartzer) Adams. He left high school to join the United States Army, and he served our country proudly during the Vietnam War. Joe spent his last 20 years with Deborah Nance, and they’ve shared countless happy memories together. He will be dearly missed.

Along with Debbie, Joe is survived by his three children: Peggy, Jeff, and Vanessa; step-son: Charles (Crystal) Nance of Decatur; six step-grandchildren; four sisters: Harriett Carey of Illiopolis; Grace (Jr.) Christopher of Edinburg; Mamie (Donald) Patrick of Farmersville; Shirley Quinlin of Mt. Zion. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Benjamin, Frederick, Arthur, and Leroy; and step-son: Donald W. Nance, Jr.

Lawrence David “Larry” Oller, 82 of Taylorville began his journey to his heavenly home at 11:16p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.  He was born on September 19, 1935 in Taylorville, the son of Clyde C. and Ruth H. (Young) Oller.  He married Wanda Daughtry on October 11, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.  Larry was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1955 until 1957 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.  He was a devoted farmer and gardener.  He was an antique gasoline enthusiast and a big band and classical music lover.  Larry loved being with his family, going to farm sales, and playing with his grandchildren and their four-wheelers.  He served on the board of directors of the Christian County Fair Board, the Christian County Farm Bureau, and 37 years on the Shelby Electric Cooperation board, and the Stonington Cooperative Grain and Legacy Grain boards.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  

He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Wanda Oller of Taylorville; children: Larry Dale (Lori) Oller of Addieville, Jeffrey (Ronette) Oller of Waverly Hall, Georgia, and Jon (Brenda) Oller of Taylorville; grandchildren: Alyssa Oller of Addieville, Jessica Oller of Addieville, Amber (Shayne) Miller of Decatur, Laramy (Amanda) Oller of Taylorville, Cody Oller of Seattle, Washington where he is serving in the US Navy, Skyler Oller of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Christopher (Brittany) Oller of Taylorville, Heather (Michael) Watson of Taylorville, great-grandchildren: Carson Harris, Malorie Oller, Brooklyn, Quentin, and MacKenzie Miller, Emma, Camden, and Rylie Oller, and Beckett Watson; great-great grandson: Kelby Martin; sisters: Rita (Jim) Hancock of Taylorville and Wilma (Edward) Weitekamp of Raymond; brothers: Clyde L. A funeral mass for Larry will take place at 12noon on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Visitation will take place from 11a.m. until the time of the mass in the church on Thursday.  Burial, with military rites, will take place at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Roland J. “Mac” McShanog, 90, of Savoy, Illinois passed away at 11:33a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 in his home.  He was born on June 12, 1927 in Danville, the son of Lester E. and Simone (Stassart) McShanog.  He married Marilyn Harmon on June 16, 195 in Taylorville.  She preceded him in death on February 18, 2015.  He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy and a member of VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville and the Champaign American Legion.  In 2015 Mr. McShanog, along with his close friend David Washington, was honored to take part in an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit the war monuments. Following his time in the service, he graduated from the University of Illinois where he also was a member of the U of I Marching Band. Roland worked as a District Manager for the A.O. Smith Corporation.  Following his retirement, he also worked as a professor of history in North Carolina.  He was a life-long, avid, Chicago White Sox fan and enjoyed attending many games over the years.  He also enjoyed spending time with his men’s group drinking coffee as well as sharing his talent of singing by entertaining residents at the local nursing home.  

He is survived by his sister: Virginia Foster of Watseka; nieces: Julie Ann Ladd (Larry) of Watseka and Mary Beth Firestone (Dix) of Dayton, Ohio; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Norma Hubbartt of Taylorville, Ruth Garrett of Taylorville, Elmer Harmon of Taylorville, Charles “Chuck” Harmon (Gloria) of Springboro, Ohio, Bertha Hill of Taylorville and Donna Peters (Gene) of Taylorville; and close friends: David Washington (Amy) and their family of Rochester, Michigan and Charlotte of Savoy. His parents and wife preceded him in death.

 
The funeral service for Roland will be held at 1:00p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Michael Evanchak officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Visitation will be from 12noon until 1p.m. on Friday in the funeral home.

Aaron Rathgeber, 31 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2:02 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on April 2, 1987 in Taylorville, IL the son of Greg and Carol (Reber) Rathgeber. He married Jeanie Welge on June 6, 2016 in Taylorville IL. Aaron worked as a machine operator at GSI in Assumption and he loved to play guitar, music and going on hikes. He also loved building forts in the house with his kids and to make them laugh.

Barbara Jean Millburg, 87, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 1:47 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
 
Barbara was born April 14, 1931 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Vincent and Maria (Jones) McKinney.  She married Glenn E. “Kelly” Millburg on January 10, 1952 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springfield, IL.  Glenn preceded her in death on May 22, 1993.

Barbara graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1949.  Following high school, she worked for a short time as a secretary for the Illinois Department of Highways, before becoming a homemaker and the CEO of the Millburg Household.  Barbara was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, the St. Maurice Altar and Rosary Society, and a past member of the Morrisonville Foresters group.  She enjoyed BINGO, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and watching gameshows, especially Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Family Feud.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Adam Millburg; sister, Nancy Drury; and brother, Jim McKinney.

Barbara is survived by her children, Joe Millburg of Springfield, IL, Jean (husband, Walter) Williams of Hillsboro, IL, Mike (wife, Denise) Millburg of Morrisonville, IL, Mary (husband, Bobby) Hunt of Litchfield, IL, Patty Nail of Collinsville, IL, Margie Mettler of Littleton, CO, and Paul (wife, Kelly) Millburg of Taylorville, IL; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Rose, Janet, Donna, Terry, and Karen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arthur Lewis Brandt, 82, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 2:18 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Heritage Health in Springfield, IL.
 
Arthur was born November 23, 1935 in Green County, IL, the son of Lewis and Mary (Hardwick) Brandt.  He married his beloved wife, Edna Mae Smith, on August 29, 1954 in Green County, IL.

Arthur attended Greenfield High School, and then went on to work for Lessor’s Trucking in Palmyra, MO as a semi-truck driver.  He would then drive for Bettis Trucking in Girard, IL, W.H. Kent, and New Products in Taylorville, before retiring from Buske Lines in Litchfield, after many years of service.  Arthur was mechanically inclined, and found enjoyment in working on his own vehicles, and building model cars and semis.  He also enjoyed boating, camping, and taking meticulous care of his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Edna Mae Brandt of Morrisonville, IL; children, Mary (husband, Rich) Ladage of Taylorville, IL, Lee (wife, Kim) Brandt of Taylorville, IL, Danny (wife, Suni) Brandt of Litchfield, IL, Mike (wife, Kim) Brandt of Marion, IL, Cindy (significant other, Jim Paul) Brandt of Taylorville, IL, and David (significant other, Aimee) Brandt of Sullivan, IL; 11 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Bill (wife, Paula) Brandt of Greenfield, IL, and Richard (wife, Doris) Brandt of Spokane, WA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John Trevis Wade, 51 of Stonington passed away on Tuesday April 17, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born December 16, 1966 in Carbondale, Il. the son of John and Judy (Royer) Wade. He married Catherine Kube on June 12, 1992 in Stonington, Il. He graduated form Stonington High School, attended Lake Land College and Southern Illinois University. He was a farmer, painter and loved wood working.

Surviving are his wife: Catherine Wade of Decatur, Il., son: John Paul Wade of Stonington, daughter: Emily Wade of Carbondale, parents: John and Judy Wade of Stonington, grandmother: Maxine Royer of Taylorville, brother: Chris (Amy) Wade of Stonington, and niece: Sophie Wade of Stonington. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Cecil Royer and paternal grandparents Charles and Loretta Wade.

Carol Ann (Arthur) Workman, 75, of Taylorville, died at 8:30 a.m., Monday April 16, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on October 31, 1942, the daughter of Vincent and Eileen (Piper) Arthur. She married Lynn “Jr” Workman on April 14, 1997 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and he survives. For 28 years, Carol worked for the Sangamon Greeting Card Co. as a machine operator. She also worked at Bill’s Toasty for many years. Carol was a hard worker, and she enjoyed keeping busy. In her spare time, she loved to travel with her husband. Her presence will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched.

Along with her husband Jr, Carol is survived by her step-daughter: Dana Workman of Taylorville; granddaughter: Laken Workman of Atlanta, Georgia; siblings: Gloria Hunt of Chicago; Sharon Durbin of Taylorville; Hiram “Butch” Arthur of Kincaid; Robert (Linda) Arthur of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Patricia (Gerald) Gordon of Taylorville; Katherine (Mike) Lozier of Alto, New Mexico; sisters-in-law: JoAnn (James) Lack of Webb City, Missouri; Deloris Brackett of Decatur; and Bonnie (Bob) Fleetwood-Fulcher of Springfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carroll Dean Rench, 74 of Nokomis passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 6:45 a.m. at his home in Nokomis. He was born on August 14, 1943 in Highland, IL the Son of Raymond and Helen (Sussen) Rench. He married Betty Dirks on March 9, 1968 in Ft. Worth, TX. He was a truck driver and a veteran of the United States Navy.

Willie D. Wilson II, 60, of Taylorville passed away at 3:45p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on September 4, 1957 in Harlingen, Texas, the son of Willie D. and Helen L. (Shadowens) Wilson.  He married Terri D. Mitchelson on December 29, 1986 in Taylorville.  Willie worked for over 35 years as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Taylorville.  Willie was a veteran of the US Air Force.  He loved to hunt and fish, was an avid NASCAR fan, and previously spent time working at South Fork Dirt Riders. 
He is survived by his wife: Terri D. Kayson Ryan Kocurek, infant son of Kassandra Rhodes and Tim Kocurek passed away on April 10, 2018 at St. John’s Carol Jo Vecchie Women’s Center in Springfield, IL. He was survived by his parents, Brother: Domynik Kocurek, Maternal: Curt and Katrina Rhodes of Taylorville, IL; Paternal Grandparents: Mark and Susan Kocurek of Taylorville, IL; Aunts: Taylor, Rylee and Markie Kocurek; Uncle and Aunt Zachary and Megan Rhodes; Great- Grandparents: Gene and Gloria Johnson of Taylorville and Jim and Suds Cunningham of Taylorville, IL. Marion Joseph “Joe” Galvin, 77, of Assumption, died April 11, 2018 in his home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption.  Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to service time.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to Assumption Woman’s Club.

Joe was born May 14, 1940 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Marion and Mary (Barry) Galvin.
He was an auditor with the Department of Public Health and enjoyed music, traveling, water skiing and playing the piano. Joe loved the Bridge Club and enjoyed hosting parties at his home.

Surviving are his mother, Mary; his closest friend, Mark (Latisha) Demascal of Assumption, IL.; brothers, Charles W. Galvin of Taylorville, IL and James E. Galvin of Assumption, IL; and sisters, Joan Beamer of Nokomis, IL and Dorothy (Alan) McMaster of Leesburg, VA.

Preceding him in death is his father, Marion Galvin.

Robert Dean Snow, 80 of Bingham passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2:55 a.m. at his residence in rural Bingham. He was born on November 14, 1937 in Coffeen, IL the Son of Asa and Fern (Kell) Snow. He married H. Lucille Siebert on November 26, 1958 in Mulberry Grove and she preceded him in death in 1989. Bob worked as a Farmer, welder and a cowboy. He enjoyed roping and rodeoing his entire life and he also loved to work on small engines for his friends around Fillmore. In his later years people called him “Mr. Fix it”. He was a member of  the Mt Moriah Church in Coffeen, IL and the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association for over 50 years. The family requests that you dress casual for the services.  

Surviving are his Son: Rodney (Rose) Snow of Bingham, IL; Daughters: Cindy (Lonnie) Rich of Herrick, IL, Margaret (Rodney) Nees of Shelbyville, IL; Grandchildren: David Jay (Kaytlin) Nees, Russell Snow (Jessica Shaw), Michael Nees, Douglas Rich, Rachel Snow; Great-Granddaughter: Addison Snow; Brothers: Donnie (Vicky) Snow; Sisters-in-Law: Shirley Snow, Patricia Snow; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Maurice “Mick” Brannan, died Sunday April 8, 2018 at 1:46pm at his residence. He was born on October 18, 1941 in the Carrollton, Illinois hospital to Carmen and Harold Brannan of Eldred, Illinois. He lived in Eldred and went to Eldred grade school. After graduating from Carrollton High School he spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy. Mick served on the USS WASP aircraft carrier. He met and married his wife Beverly in Chicago and soon after moved to Taylorville, Illinois where he worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company. Mick was an avid street rod enthusiast and ran around for many years with the Early Idlers and Tag-A-Long car clubs. Mick was well known for restoring cars over the years.

His family attended car shows and rod runs all over the Midwest. Family meant everything to Mick. Mick and Bev loved to ride his motorcycles and belonged to the Christian Motorcycle Association, the International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers and the Roadrunner Goldwing Motorcycle clubs. He combined his love of camping with motorcycling after he retired by pulling a small camper behind his Goldwing Trike. Mick and Bev one summer traveled to 48 states camping with their trike and camper. Mick and Bev also went camping in their motor home with the Prairielanders Good Sam Cub.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Steven Brannan (Tina), his daughters: Shari Thompson (Bob) and Susan Justice (George), his grandsons: Seth Brannan (Kelsey), Sean Brannan, Frank Justice John Justice, Aric Walton (Stephanie), Laura McNeely (Scott), and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mick was preceded in death by his mother Carmen Fisher, his father Harold Brannan, his step father Jack Fisher, his brothers Doug Brannan and Tom Cadel, and his sister June Leib (Gary) and his grandson Scott Brannan.

Visitation will be on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, Illinois with private family services the next day. Memorials in Mick’s name can be sent to the Missionary Fund at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, Illinois. Please keep his family in your prayers as he will be greatly missed

Larry G. Miller, 73, of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 11:14 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his residence.
 
Larry was born December 17, 1944 in Taylorville, IL, the son of William Edward and Alma Anna (DeWerff) Miller.  He married Claudia Davis-Skinner on September 8, 1970 in Morrisonville, IL.  They later divorced.

Larry graduated from Taylorville High School, and then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.  He served tours in Korea as well as Germany.  Following his service, Larry worked as a farmhand, before gaining employment at Georgia Pacific, where he would retire from after over 26 years as a machine operator.  During his time at Georgia Pacific, he was given the nickname “Rooster.” He worked for GSI briefly after his retirement.  Larry was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club 1425, American Legion Post 73, and a past member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge 1516.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed painting, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and sudoku.  Larry’s greatest enjoyment was being outside, with his children and grandchildren, enjoying a beer, and visiting with the neighborhood folks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Carol Mann; and brother, Charles Miller.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Carol Ann (husband, Tim) Beiermann of Carrollton, IL, Mary Lee (companion, Kirk Spurgeon) Miller of Morrisonville, IL, Lisa M. (husband, Walter) Harker of Taylorville, IL, and Barb (fiancé, Chris Flaherty) Miller of Williston, ND; grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, and Mara Beiermann of Carrollton, IL, Kaysey Jayne Spurgeon and John Wyatt Spurgeon of Morrisonville, IL, Katie LeDuc of Shelbyville, IL, Keirsten Jones of Kincaid, IL, Shaylynn Rockford of Taylorville, IL, and Jack, Sydney, and Madison Miller of Taylorville, IL; great grandchildren, Luna, Leo, Major, Sadie, Ayva, Myah, Bentley, Levi, and Lily; sisters, Evelyn Rogers of Taylorville, IL and Lillian Grace Mangan of Tremont, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Ceremony and Visitation: The memorial ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018, at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.  The family will receive guests following the ceremony until 7:00 p.m.  Military honors will be provided at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Morrisonville Cemetery.

Helen Messerle, 98 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 12:54 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born on March 11, 1920 in Litchfield, IL the daughter of John and Fern (Dover) Clarkson. She married Harold Ramey on July 18, 1937 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1991. She then married Virgil Messerle on August 10, 1996 and he also preceded her in death on August 6, 2010. She worked as a Nurse at Dr. Somers office in Litchfield, IL.

Surviving are her Son: Darrell (Judy) Messerle; Grandchildren: Tammy Brachear, Sheila Cowell, Phillip Ramey, John Ramey, Linda Ramey, Bob Ramey, Larry Ramey, Peggy Lynn Holdman, Katherine and Kurt Messerle; Several Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, husbands Harold Ramey and Virgil Messerle, Sons Harold Richard and Steven Ramey, daughter Kathryn Sue Ramey, sister Doris and brother John.

Daniel A. Phillipi, 61, of Moweaqua died April 3, 2018, in his home.

Daniel was born September 23, 1956 in Decatur, IL, the son of Berlin A. and Ruby (Johnson) Phillipi.  He married Mary Demascal in Decatur, IL September 15, 1996.  She survives.

Daniel was affiliated with First Christian Church of Moweaqua.  He was a Taxidermist and Truck Driver.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; son, Daniel L. (Nitiya) Phillipi of Moweaqua, IL; daughter, Charity (Chris) Miller of Mt. Zion, IL; stepsons: Michael (Kelly) Scoles of Taylorville, IL and Larry (April) Scoles of Assumption, IL; stepdaughter, Dena (Charles) Tucker of Taylorville, IL; twenty one grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Dana) Best of Decatur, IL; and brothers-in-law: Joseph (Diana) Demascal of Louisiana, Larry Demascal of Shelbyville, IL and Robert (Latisha) Demascal of Assumption, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Shelia and son, Adam.

Gladys E. Merkel, 103, of Nokomis, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage Health Care Center in Pana, IL. She was born on September 20, 1914 in rural Bingham, IL the daughter of Homer and Dora (Matthews) Cole. She married Chester Merkel on March 6, 1937 in Nokomis and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1992. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nokomis.  

She is survived by her Son: Loren E. (Phyllis) Merkel of Pana, IL; Daughter: Barbara (Bill) Kook of Pana, IL; Grandchildren: Christine Flynn of St. Charles, IL; Karen Kook of Chicago, IL; Brian Merkel of Belgrade, MO; Great-Grandson: Gunnar Merkel of Potos, MO; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, four sisters, four brothers and 1 grandson.

Dorothy Josephine Yattoni, 92, of Stonington, died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Concordia Village, Springfield. Dorothy was born on a farm in East Fork Township, Montgomery County, on April 23, 1925, to August and Mary Elizabeth (Limper) Brown. She married Carson Ellis Benson on November 3, 1945, and he died on May 26, 1959. She then married Louie Yattoni on April 8, 1961, and he died on May 18, 1981.

Dorothy graduated from Coffeen High School. Following high school, she worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Litchfield. Dorothy was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington. She owned and operated several bars and restaurants in central Illinois, including the Blue Danube in Litchfield, West Side Tavern in Taylorville, and Sam & Louie’s Lounge in Stonington. She retired to help raise her grandchildren. The contributions which she made to her family were invaluable. Her legacy and love will live on in all our hearts forever.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Toni (John) Marucco of Springfield, William (Jennifer) Yattoni of Rochester; grandchildren: Kori (Pat) Aldrich, Gia (Nathan) Simmons, Charles (Katie Winn) Marucco, Hannah Yattoni, Austin Yattoni; great grandchildren: Aaron Aldrich, Grant and Adelyn Simmons, and Wes Benson Marucco. She is also survived by one brother, Wilbur Brown of Weldon, IL.

In addition to both of her husbands, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Leo, Leonard, Omar, Lawrence, and sister, Rita Crites.

Mass for Dorothy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of mass, also at the church. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to: the Holy Trinity Altar Society.

Jenneken “Jenny” McKinney, 85 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 1:40 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born on January 16, 1933 in Eibergen, Holland the daughter of Garrit and Johanna Boeijink. She married Alan McKinney on April 12, 1972 in Springfield, IL and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2011. Jenny loved spending time with Family and Friends. She enjoyed bus trips, sitting on her porch swing and going to watch the Taylorville Trio Band play. Her favorite destination was the Tama Iowa trip. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.

Surviving are her Son: A.J. McKinney of Taylorville, IL; Brothers: Gerard Boeijink of Holland; Jan Willem Boeijink of Germany; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Alan McKinney, 3 Brothers, Mother-in-Law: Josephine McKinney and Good friend Elsie Holstlaw.

Robert Ray German, 69, of Taylorville, passed away at 10:29 a.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his residence.

Bob was born August 12, 1948, in Taylorville, the son of William Mervin and Irene (Funderburk) German.  He married Penny Swedick on March 30, 1979.

Bob graduated from Taylorville High School in 1966, and then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army, during Vietnam.  He served two tours of duty as a supply delivery driver between camps.  He earned the National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Bronze Stars for his heroism.  Bob went on to work at Firestone in Decatur for over 31 years, eventually retiring from there.  He and Penny owned an antique store for many years, and Bob also had a lawncare service that he took great pride in.  Bob attended auctioneer school in Ames, IA, and he and John Morrissey auctioneered together for many years.  He was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, where he served as a past deacon, and Sunday School teacher for the high school children.

Bob was an avid golfer and Chicago Cubs fan.  He enjoyed antiques, auctions, and yardwork, but most of all he enjoyed his children and grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lester, Lanny, and Pete German.

Bob is survived by his wife, Penny German of Taylorville, IL; children, Gerri (husband, Jason) Poor of Taylorville, IL, Jacque (husband, Jeff) Nation of Taylorville, IL, Jill (husband, John) Smith of Taylorville, and Robert German of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Josh (wife, Mandy) Nation, Madison Smith, Gabrielle Poor, Luke Poor, and Tatum Smith; great grandchildren, Larah, Laya, and Mavis Nation; siblings, Lu (husband, Jim) Manuel of Stonington, IL, Janet (husband, Bill) Jones of rural Taylorville, IL, Butch (wife, Dee) German of Farmersville, IL, and Brenda (husband, Morey) Washburn of Blue Mound, IL; special niece, Kelly (husband, Bob) Swedick of North Bend, WA; his comfort dog, Emma; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
