Evren Nicolas Alejandro Angulo of Incirlik, Turkey

Evren Nicolas Alejandro Angulo, of Incirlik, Turkey,  passed on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Rhineland, Germany.  The infant son of Sgt. Alex and Sgt. Genesia M. (Cook) Angulo.
In addition to his parents, Alex and Genesia he is survived by his maternal grandparents, James A. and Paula A. Cook of Edinburg, IL; paternal grandparents, Jose’ and Martha Angulo of Lake Worth, FL; brothers, Roman Manuel James Angulo and Mateo Ray David Angulo; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A prayer service will be held at 4:45 p.m. prior to the visitation which will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m.  on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Father Mariadas Chatla officiating.  Burial will in Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, IL.

William I. Williams of Taylorville

William I. Williams, 94 of Taylorville, IL passed away at 11:13 AM Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL.  He was born June 20, 2015 in Macon County, IL son of Raymond E. and Bessie Leora (Hunt) Williams.  He married Ione Davis in November of 1954 in Vandalia, IL and she preceded him in death on April 6, 1975.
He is survived by his son Randy Williams of Taylorville, IL, daughters Debbie Denbow of Taylorville, IL, Vickie Williams of Quincy, IL, 5 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM,  Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn, IL.
Earlier in his life, William was a press operator and truck driver for Baughman-Oster Manufacturing in Taylorville and later he owned and operated a disposal service in Morrisonville.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and his favorite past-time was fishing with his family.  His favorite meal was a McDonald’s Cheeseburger with a Strawberry Milkshake.  He had served his Country in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1942.  He was a proud member of the American Legion, Taylorville Post 93.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association and will be received by Sutton Funeral Home, Taylorville, IL.

Betty Lou (Brandon) Smith Dean of Taylorville

Betty Lou (Brandon) Smith Dean, 78 of Taylorville, IL passed away at 12:40 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born March 13, 1937 in Kincaid, IL. She was daughter of Carl and Essie (Foster) Brandon and Luada (Flemming) Brandon. She married Charles Edward Smith and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by her sons, Benjamin A. (Wendi) Smith of Taylorville, IL and Timothy E. (Debbie) Smith of Clermont, FL; twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sisters, Carlene (Tom) Fenicle of Taylorville, IL, Nancy (John) Saunders of Oconee, IL, Carlotta Brandon of Taylorville, IL; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Brandon of Kincaid, IL and   Gina Brandon of Phoenix, AZ and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Jack Dennis Smith; brothers, Carl Brandon, Jr., Frank Flemming, Dan Brandon and John Brandon; sisters, Nora Crain and Rose Reber.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg, IL. Visitation will be from 12: 00 p.m. (noon) until the time of services. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.

Betty was one that never complained, she never met a stranger and most of all loved all of her family. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers.

Myrtle Esther O'Brien of Taylorville

Myrtle Esther O’Brien, 94, of Taylorville formerly of Bradenton, FL died at 3:19 pm Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Gowin Parc in Taylorville.

She was born September 14, 1920 in Owaneco, IL the daughter of Madison Monroe and Pearl Mae Berry Cameron. On October 12, 1946 she married William Andrew O’Brien in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1997. Myrtle was a member of the Catholic Faith and had been employed as a hairdresser and an office manager at Carson Jewelers in Decatur, IL.

Surviving are her Children: Andrea M. Rose and husband Paul Jones of Bradenton, FL; Dennis J. O’Brien and wife Kelly of Chatham; Telena A. Boente of Bradenton, FL and Son-in-law: Roy J. Pinnell of Taylorville. There are 16 Grandchildren and Step-Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren and Step Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Daughter Marcia J. Pinnell and Son-in-law: Larry Boente.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Taylorville, IL with Father Mariadas Chatla officiating. Inurnment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery Assumption. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm in the Church on Thursday. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elma Grace Masters of Taylorville

Elma Grace Masters, 93, of Taylorville passed away at 8:50am on Monday, June 29, 2015 in her home.  She was born on October 10, 1921 in Morrisonville, Illinois, the daughter of Bert Barrett and Virgie Inez Tolliver Smith.  She married Vernon LeVoy Masters on May 17, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on December 16, 1975.  Elma and Vernon owned and operated Masters Tire Service in Taylorville for many years.  She was a long time member of the Taylorville First United Methodist church where she served in a variety of ways including teaching Sunday School for 62 years.  Elma’s favorite thing was helping those around her by volunteering with a number of different organizations.  
Elma is survived by her daughters: Nancy Scott, husband Russell, of Irvine CA, and Monita Kalka, husband Dale, of Taylorville; foster son: Lennie Scott (Chris) of Perrysville IN; grandchildren: Rusty Scott, wife Jill, Damon Scott, wife Tracie, Dayla Balster, husband Thomas, Shanon Wagner, husband David, and Barrett Kalka, wife Tiffany; 3 foster Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great  Grandchildren;  sister: Gloria Jones of Taylorville, and sister-in-laws: Gloria Masters, Priscilla McDowell and Virginia Eller. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Harold Smith Sr., and sister: Virginia Kenyon.  
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Taylorville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Becky Lembke officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville and from 10-11am Friday at the church.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 S Walnut, Taylorville, The American Cancer Society 225 N Michigan Ave. Suite 1200 Chicago, IL 60501, or the Community Women’s Association Scholarship c/o Cathy Coker, 221 N Pershing, Taylorville.  McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville is assisting the Masters family with arrangements.

Harry William "Pogie" Orr, Jr. of Taylorville

Harry William “Pogie” Orr, Jr., 85 of Taylorville, IL  passed away at 12:58 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 18, 1930 in Taylorville, IL son of Harry Floyd and Myrtle Lorraine (Mills) Orr.  He married Juanita Huffines on August 20, 1952 in Taylorville and she survives him.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Orr of Taylorville, IL, son Harry David (Denise) Orr of Appleton, WI, daughters Regina Daykin of Sycamore, IL, Shelly Ann Orr of Taylorville, IL, Sherry Lynn Miller of Taylorville, 7 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, brothers Ron (Betty) Orr of Taylorville, IL, Richard Orr of Taylorville, IL, Roger (Retha) Orr of Shelbyville, IL, sisters Joanne (Owen) Harper of Taylorville, IL, Donna (Roger) Lefever of Edinburg, IL, Karen (Tom) Harvel of Taylorville, IL, Pam (Ron) Jacobs of Taylorville, IL, sister-in-law Janet Orr of Taylorville, IL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Danny William Orr, brothers Robert and Larry Orr, sister Mary Durbin and a sister in infancy Shirley Orr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 3, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Reverend Russell Beard officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.
“Pogie” had retired after 33 years of service with Georgia Pacific.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and spent every Saturday night that he could at Macon Speedway.  He had served his Country in the United States Army in Germany for four years.  Most of all, he love and cherished his family and the time he spent with them.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the Seventh Floor Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL and will be received by the funeral home.

Merle Allen Thomas of Kincaid

Mr. Merle Allen Thomas, 75, of Kincaid, IL passed away at 1:10 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at his home with his loving family be his side.

He was born in Edinburg, IL on January 4, 1940 the son of Alva and Mildred (Kohl) Thomas.  Merle married Nancy J. Avery on May 28, 1960 in Kincaid, IL and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2008.

Mr. Thomas was of the Baptist Faith.  He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.  Merle retired from Firestone in Decatur, IL.  He loved fishing, camping in the Smokey Mountains, hunting gardening and spending time with his family and friends.  

Surviving are 2 sons Kevin (Julie) Thomas of Mahomet, IL Douglas Thomas of Kincaid, IL 1 daughter Gayla (Robert) Las of Bulpitt, IL 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 brother Lyle (Monya) Thomas of Blue Mound, IL along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Nancy, 2 brothers Marvin and Bob Thomas and 2 sisters Erma Sullivan and Elsie Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2014 in Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL   Rev. Louis Kunz of the Kincaid Baptist Church will officiate.  Burial with full military honors by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Macon County will follow at Grove City Cemetery, near Mt. Auburn, IL.  Visitation for Mr. Merle A. Thomas will be held for 1 hour before the services Tuesday at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid, IL.

Gloria J. Buchanan of Taylorville

Gloria J. Buchanan, 82, of Taylorville passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL.  She was born on June 17, 1933 in Mulberry Grove, IL the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Kean) Gum.  She married Clayton W. Buchanan on July 30, 1954  in  Mulberry Grove, IL. She was a homemaker and a member of the Taylorville Southern Baptist Church in Taylorville. Gloria was a very good woman.
In addition to her husband, Clayton she is survived by her son, Kenneth R. (Mary Ann) Buchanan of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Debbie (Paul) Shea of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Jeremy Buchanan, Matthew (Heather) Buchanan, Ashley Buchanan, and J.P. Shea; great grandchildren, Chelsea Buchanan and Zander Buchanan; brother, Norman Gum of Ashville, NC; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.

Mary Frances Berck of Taylorville

Mary Frances Berck, 95 of Taylorville, IL passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville.  She was born on December 24, 1919 in Taylorville, IL; the daughter of  Frank and Anna (Tolle) Collingwood. She married Alfred H. Berck on December 24, 1941. He preceded her in passing on January 2, 2003. Mary worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as a proof-reader. She and her husband Al were very active in the Boy Scouts of America Troop #67, where she kept all the records and all the supplies well stocked. She was usually the only woman at the campgrounds. She was also the local distributor for the Illinois State Journal-Register. Mary was a  member of Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville and an active member of the You And I Class Party (Sunday School) and a member of the Navy Mothers Club of America.
She is survived by her sons, Alfred H. (Pat) Berck of Waring, Texas, Rev. Dale A. (Helen) Berck of Chesterfield, IL and David B. (Linda) Berck of Taylorville, IL; twelve grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, husband, Alfred; foster-son, Bill Dunn; brothers, Ray Collingwood and Merl Collingwood.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home In Taylorville with Rev. Tiney Walker officiating.  A funeral procession will be leaving Sutton Memorial Home at 1:00p.m. for the burial and committal services which will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Don Paterson Vidmar of Springfield

Don Paterson Vidmar, 84, of Springfield, IL formerly of Taylorville, died at 11:15 pm Friday, June 19, 2015 at his residence.  
 
He was born July 8, 1930 in Taylorville the son of William Vidmar and Nellie Paterson Vidmar.  On May 19, 1951 he married Sidney Sue Daykin in Taylorville at the First Methodist Church.  Don was a member of the United Methodist Church and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War where he earned a Purple Heart. He owned and operated Vidmar Excavating and Contracting in Taylorville for many years.  He was a General Contractor in California from 1970 – 1995 when he retired.  He returned to Illinois in 2005.
 
Surviving are his Wife: Sidney Vidmar of Springfield, Son: Danny Vidmar and wife Brenda of Taylorville; Daughter: Sheree Darner and husband RICHARD of Lake Forest, CA;  3 Grandchildren: Jason Darner of Lake Forest, CA, Danny Don Vidmar and wife Traci of Clinton and Megan Vidmar and companion Dan Renek of Taylorville.  Sister: Wanda Blount and Brother: John Vidmar of Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 Brothers Myron Vidmar and Bill Vidmar and a Sister, Jeanne Smith.
 
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 24 at McClure Funeral Home.  Burial with Military Honors will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.  McClure Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald Eugene Sisk of Nokomis

Donald Eugene Sisk, 77, of Nokomis, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 4:35 a.m. at his residence in Nokomis.  He was born on April 25, 1938 in Pana, IL;  the son of  Clarence and Mildred (German) Sisk. He married Shirley Northcraft and she later preceded him in passing on December 27, 2005. He served in the U. S. Army and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of VFW Post #777 in Mt. Pulaski and Waples-Bauer American Legion Post 94 in Nokomis, IL.   
He is survived by his sons, Brian Sisk of Pana, IL and Donnie Sisk Jr. of Nokomis; daughters, Joyce Seddon, Karen Huston and Patricia Eller all of Nokomis, IL, Brenda McMaines and Deneen Steck both of Pana, IL; grandchildren, Jill Quinn, Christopher Everly, Phillip Huston, Ericka Cress, Heather Vedder, Ryan Huston, Timmy McMaines, Hyde McMaines, Tiffany Nochta, Derik Steck, Julie Ann Keller, Schara Eller, Alisha Eller, Sierra Sisk, Zaylan Sisk, Mikey McKittrick, Brandi Sisk, Dalton Sisk and Kody Sisk; thirty-three great grandchildren; brother, Edward Sisk of Shelbyville, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.   He was preceded by his parents and wife, Shirley.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 10:00-12:00 noon at Sutton Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 12:00 noon with Kevin Simburger officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosamond, IL.

Betty Jane Fisher of Taylorville

Betty Jane Fisher, 89 of Taylorville passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at her home. She was born June 20, 1925 in Sumner, MO the daughter of Robert DeLoss and Myrtle Merle (Ball) Beale. She married William Tracy Fisher on November 25, 1945 and he later preceded her in death. She was the founding member of Jacksonville family campers, she sang with the barbershop quartet Betty, Betty, Frick and Fran. She sang with the Centenary Church choir for many years. She was very active with her church, she loved to read, paint, and do crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her Daughter: Penny (Eric) Christians of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Christine (Darrick) Wells of Taylorville, IL; Jonathon Eric Christians of Springfield, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Tristen Paige Wells and Alex William Wells; Sister: Ruth (Merle) Richardson; Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

David Alan Anker Sr. of Edinburg

David Alan Anker Sr., 71, of Edinburg, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 8:38 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born May 20, 1944 in Danville, IL the son of Carl and Ruth (Watson) Anker. He married Janet Francis Hill on June 30, 1979 in Chatham, IL and she later preceded him in death on November 12, 2011. He retired as a Mechanical Engineer for Illinois Bell and then he was the owner and operator of Sangchris Corner. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, IL.  
He is survived by his Daughter: Alisha Dawn Anker of Springfield, IL; Son: David “Alan” Anker Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; Step-Daughter: Heather (Eric) Kohl of Edinburg, IL; Grandchildren: Jordan Moore of Austin, TX; Daniel and Rowley Anker of Milwaukee, WI; Brother: Roger (Marilyn) Anker of Oakwood, IL; Nieces: Michelle Evans of Shelburne, VT and Connie Young of Oakwood, IL. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his wife.

Mike Castrale of West Frankfort

 

Mike Castrale, 92, of West Frankfort, Illinois formerly of Elwood, Illinois passed away Saturday June 13, 2015 in Herrin Hospital – Herrin, Illinois.

 

 Mike was born March 18, 1923 in Virden, Illinois to Joe and Margaret (Baietto) Castrale.

 

 He is survived by sons, Michael (Joyce) Castrale and Larry (Phyllis) Castrale; grandchildren: Amy, Amanda, Craig, and Jesica; great grandchildren: Thomas, Cody, Aidan, and Elenie; several nieces and nephew.

 

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Castrale; parents; brother, James Castrale.

 

 He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945.

 

 He was a 35 year employee at Navistar - Melrose Park, Illinois.

 

 Visitation will be held Thursday June 18, 2015 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington, Illinois from 9:00-11:00a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday June 18, 2015 at 11:00a.m. with Fr. Bondi officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, Illinois. Military rites will be accorded.

 

 In accordance to the family’s wishes, memorials may be in Mike’s memory to St. John’s School – West Frankfort, Illinois.

Virginia (Smith) Hardin of Litchfield

     Virginia (Smith) Hardin, 77, of Litchfield, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 11:53 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born December 25, 1937 in Taylorville, IL, the Daughter of Henry and Ida (Clayborn) Pyle. She married Robert Stephens and they later divorced, and then she later married Amos Smith and he preceded her in death. Then she married Carl Hardin and they later divorced. She was a business lady and loved to feed the wildlife, her animals and to mow the grass.

Florence V. Fuchs

Florence Viola Fuchs, 88 of Taylorville, formerly of Morrisonville and Farmersville passed away at 8:37 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center.

 

She was born on July 16, 1926 at Benson, MN the daughter of Peter C. and Lena P. (Sperre) Anderson. She married Robert E. Fuchs on December 22, 1946 at Benson, MN; he preceded her in death on May 18, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her parents; Sister, Lorraine “Lolly” Fritz; 8 Brothers and Son in law, Donald Deal.

 

Florence was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated the coin laundry in Morrisonville for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, Eagles Club 1425 and the Red Hat Society.

 

Survivors: Daughter, Judy Deal of Taylorville, IL; Sons, Robert (Beth) Fuchs of Morrisonville, IL and Richard (Michelle) Fuchs of O’Fallon, IL; Foster Daughter, Tonya Purnell of Springfield, IL; 4 Grandchildren, Wendy Fleming, Brent Deal, Ben Fuchs and Maggie Leonard; 8 Great Grandchildren, Kiley, Braden, Kourtni and Fleming, Alex, Wesley and Piper Fuchs, Brooke Deal and Tommy Leonard.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at a later date at St. Paulie Cemetery, Swift Falls, MN.

Jack F.L. Kerwin of Taylorville

Jack F.L. Kerwin, 79, of Taylorville, IL died at 5:18 am Friday, June 12, 2015, aboard his boat, the Semper Fi, in Portage des Sioux, MO.

 He was born December 31, 1935 in Decatur, IL the son of Daniel Frances and Alberta Catherine Harbarger Kerwin.  He was married to Billie Ann Bianchetta.  She and their son, Anthony Jack, preceded him in death in 1959.  Jack was a farmer and owner/operator of Stonington Fertilizer, Inc., in Stonington.  He enjoyed many years of boating with friends at My River Home on the Mississippi River.

 Surviving is a cousin Kay DeBrun and husband Tom of North Carolina and companion, Bonnie Bruns of Taylorville.

 Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 16 at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday at the Funeral Home.  Burial will take place in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound, IL.  McClure Funeral Home of Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

James Chuck Andrew Mayernick of Lincoln

James “Chuck” Andrew Mayernick , 86, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 4:01 a.m. at his daughters home in Lincoln. He was born July 22, 1929 in Virden, IL, the Son of John and Anna (Gollick) Mayernick. He married Mary Dell Bucshon on December 22, 1951 in Kincaid, IL and she later preceded him in death on October 4, 1998. He was the Assistant Mine Manager at Peabody Mine #10. James was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL, American Legion Post #905 in Kincaid, IL, United Mine Workers, and the Taylorville Knights of Columbus. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps where he was a Chosin Reservoir survivor and received the Purple Heart.  He had played Baseball and Slow Pitch Softball for many area teams and he was heavily involved in Youth Baseball.  He was an avid bowler and loved his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.

Hazard Perry Dees of Taylorville

Hazard Perry Dees, 69, of Taylorville, IL died at 12:30 pm Monday, June 8, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born February 12, 1946 in Draggerton, Utah the son of Clarence and Dorothy Vaught Dees. He was later adopted by Eliza McGowan Dees. Perry had retired in 2004 from International Paper Company in Shelbyville. On May 13, 2006 he married Carol Ann Teter in Taylorville, IL. Perry was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War.

Surviving are his wife: Carol Dees of Taylorville; Children: Tom Dees and wife Angie of Taylorville, George “Fiddy” Dees and wife Kenya of Taylorville, Joe Dees of Taylorville, Step-Children: Rob Porter and wife Cyna of Edinburg and Clint Porter and wife Brandi of El Paso, TX; 9 Grandchildren: Chaz, Alex, Josie, Marcus, Lakin, Georgia, Paris, Kayla and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his parents, adoptive mother and one sister, Dorothy Sweeney.

Richard Lee Havener, 71, of Taylorville, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 6:25 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born February 13, 1944 in Taylorville, IL, the Son of Homer Eugene and Helen Lucille (Simmons) Havener. He married Connie Lee Herman on February 14, 1989 in Taylorville, IL. He retired from installing and repairing dental equipment. Rich spent many hours working in his garage. His favorite hobby was working on his model T.

Ina Gertrude Shuler of Owaneco

Ina Gertrude Shuler, 98, of Owaneco, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 3:54 a.m. at her home in Owaneco. She was born October 24, 1916 in Beecher City, IL, the Daughter of Burl H. and Birdie (Tipsword) McNeeley. She married George Cephus Shuler at the Owaneco Methodist Church in Owaneco, IL on August 12, 1940 and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2005. She was a member of Owaneco United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years, HCEA Home Extension for over 50 years in the Buckeye Evening Unit. Ina attended Grade School at Pleasant Hill School of Beecher City, IL and graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1934.  After graduation, she worked at Poor Farms of Owaneco, IL then at Charlie and Cora Morrell and later worked as a maid for two families in Decatur, IL.  She attended Brown’s Business College in Decatur for one year then worked as book keeper at Semmel’s Clothing Store in Decatur.  She lived together with her Husband George, as a farmer’s wife over 64 years in the home that he built.

Bernadine Bernie McKinney of Taylorville

Bernadine “Bernie” McKinney, 86, of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015.  She was born on December 24, 1928 in Shelby County near Tower Hill; the daughter of Harry Orville and Nancy Elizabeth (Ballard) Nance.  She married Charles “Joe” McKinney on April 8, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville, IL.  He preceded her in passing on September 10, 1990.  Bernie was the office manager and dental assistant for Dr. L.W. Heim for many years.  After her retirement she began working for Dr. C.L. Tankersley until her retirement in 1988.  Her laugh would brighten anyone’s day.  She was an avid reader, a master at crossword puzzles, and thoroughly enjoyed dancing.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. 

She is survived by her sons, Bruce (wife, Nancy) McKinney of Bloomington, IL and Brian (wife, Sheila) McKinney of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren, Kathleen (husband, Chris Wanless) McKinney of Bloomington, IL and Emma Wilson of Springfield, IL; sister, Lela Hazel of Taylorville, IL; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; five brothers, Donald, Lloyd, Harry, Jake, and Fred; nine sisters, Lela, Irene, Louise, Margie, Ruth, June, Dorothy, Susan, and Marlene.

Steven Curits Klay of Bloomington

Steven Curtis Klay, 57 of Bloomington, IL died at 10:35 pm Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Normal.

He was born February 15, 1958 in Taylorville the son of Lyle C. and Joyce D. Huffines Klay. Mr. Klay was an Administrative Employee, primarily in Parent Services, at Illinois State University in Normal for 17 years. He will be remembered for his love of singing and his deep love of his children. He sang the National Anthem at Basketball games at Redbird Arena in Normal as well as other collegiate events and also sang at the L.A. Clippers games.

Surviving are his Daughter: Emily Klay of Normal; Son: Anderson Klay of Normal; Parents: Lyle and Joyce Klay of Taylorville; Brother: Richard Klay and wife Nancy of Springfield and former wife Shelly Reapsummer Klay of St. Louis, MO.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 6 at McClure Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service in the Funeral Home on Saturday. Margaret F. Sheridan of Taylorville

Margaret F. Sheridan, 94, of Taylorville, IL died at 6:15 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

She was born May 27, 1920 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Anton John and Mary Jane Vidmar Kaplon. On June 15, 1950 she married William Edward Sheridan in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1993. Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and had been employed by Sangamon Company for over 25 years. She then went to work for the Secretary of State’s Office in Springfield and retired from there in 1994. Margaret enjoyed sending cards to family and friends on almost any occasion. She enjoyed going to the Beauty Shop once a week, and going out to eat Italian Food. She especially enjoyed cooking and dancing. Margaret was an active member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughter, Sheryl Schmid of Taylorville and Oak Harbor, WA, Former son-in-law: Greg Schmid U.S.M.C Retired; 3 Grandchildren: Amber Kerr and husband David of Seattle, WA, Rhiannon King and husband Brian of Marysville, WA and Brandon Schmid and wife Heather of Puyallup, WA. There are 9 Great Grandchildren: Aidan Kerr, Cohen Kerr, Tinsley Kerr, Myla Balser, Kai Balser, Calia King, Mason King, Aubrey Schmid and Ethan Schmid. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Edward “Sonny” Kaplon and Tony Kaplon, Jr, in infancy; Sisters: Rose Corsiatto, Theresa Sheedy and Kathryn Durbin and a nephew Stephen Kaplon.

George C. Durbin of Taylorville

George C. Durbin, 89, passed away May 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac Francis Durbin, and his mother, Harriett (Hattie) C. Durbin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Quintus, Beaufford, Donald, Isaac, and Carl Durbin and his sister, Harriett Wells. He is survived by his dear friend Carrie Enlow and many nieces and nephews.
George was a veteran of the Korean war. He was in two battles for which he won two bronze battle stars and an infantry combat badge. He retired from Sangamon Company in 1989 after 41 years of service. He was especially proud of his plaque, Sangamon ring, his dome desk clock, and his stately grandfather clock, all of which he received in honor of those many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. He loved to go fishing in his younger days, and to read western novels and watch TV. He lived for many years at Taylorville Care Center and he was very happy there.


Visitation will be held at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Sister Rose McKeown officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer.
