Robert (Bob) Payne


Robert Jeffrey (Bob) Payne, 63 of Owaneco, passed away at 3:50pm on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on March 16, 1957 in Huber Memorial Hospital Pana, the son of Luzader M. “Mike” and Mary M “Molly” (Ahwan) Payne. Robert graduated from Taylorville High School and worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections as a guard at the Taylorville Prison until his retirement. 
He is survived by his siblings: Judith Plattner, husband Greg, of St. Louis, Missouri and Leslie Payne of Heringen, Germany; nieces: April England of Tower Hill, Amber Payne of Chatham, and Angela Lauterback of Heringen, Germany, nephews: Aaron Payne of Springfield, Jacob Plattner of St. Louis, and Samuel Plattner of Heringen, Germany and several grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Michael Joseph Payne and Ronald James Payne.

Eileen Everlen

Eileen Everlen, 86, of Taylorville, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her residence.

Eileen was born July 24, 1934, in rural Macon County, the daughter of Orville and Martha (Pollard) Younker.  She attended Blue Mound Schools, and worked for Johnson Nursing Home, Meadow Manor, and Taylorville Care Center in housekeeping. Eileen was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville.  She enjoyed playing cards, shooting dice, and a good game of BINGO.  Eileen was also an avid Willie Nelson fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John P. Everlen, Sr.; second husband, Loren Matthews; son, John P. Everlen, Jr.; son-in-law, Gerald Gross; step-grandson, Anthony Turney; and brother, Jr. Younker.

Eileen is survived by her daughters, Cyndi (husband, Scott) Montgomery of IN, and Karen (husband, Terry) Middleton of Taylorville; grandchildren, Sarah, Cheri, and Brandon (wife, Lynn); 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Eileen will be cremated, and private inurnment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville at a later date.

Sally J. Mayes

Sally J. Mayes, 67 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2:45 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on February 5, 1953 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Emmit and Bette (Henneke) Bishop. She married Thomas Mayes Jr. on August 1, 1970 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2014.


She is survived by her Daughters: Angel Nolen of Taylorville, IL and Bette Wickell of Millstadt, IL; Son: Thomas Mayes III of Taylorville, IL; Fur son: Tiny; Grandchildren: Brandon Finn, Bradly Dilley, William Nolen; Sisters: Syndy, Susie and Shelby; Brothers: Steve, Spencer, and Stacy; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. 


Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating. A Celebration of life Dinner will be held following the graveside service.

Braxton Xavier Miller

Braxton Xavier Miller, 20 Months of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on April 22, 2019 in Springfield, IL the son of Alexis Rosa and Tilur Miller. 


He is survived by his Parents: Alexis Rosa and Tilur Miller of Taylorville, IL; Grandparents: John and Jane Rosa of Springfield, IL; Steve and Angie Miller of Taylorville, IL; Great-Grandparents: Jo Bunn of Springfield, Barbara Miller of Taylorville, IL; Several Aunts, Uncles, Great-Aunts, Great- Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Aunt: Devun Rohdemann, Uncle Kody Cook, Great-Grandfather: Sholen Miller, Great-Grandmother: Edna Rosa.


Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield, IL with Pastor Mark Estrop officiating.

Ellen Louise Smith

Ellen Louise Smith, 75 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at 4:08 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on November 10, 1945 in Palmer, IL the daughter of Roger and Edna (Bangert) Williams. She Married Randell Smith Sr. on August 31, 1962 and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2004. She worked as a homemaker and she was an avid Bingo Player. Ellen was a member of the Taylorville Order of the Eagles, Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516 and the VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville.


She is survived by her Daughter: Holly Ellen Smith of Taylorville, IL; Son: Randell (Jon Dalusong) Smith Jr. of Santa Clarita, CA; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sisters: Leah Spencer, JoAnn Shanks and Nancy Moore.  

 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating.

Danny Edward Adams

Danny Edward Adams, 72, of Taylorville, Ill., passed from his earthly life into the arms of Jesus at 3:15 PM on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Regency Care in Springfield, Ill.

 

He was born on March 11, 1948 in Decatur, Ill. Danny was the youngest child of George Edward and Hattie G. (Lorenz) Adams.  He graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1966.  Danny married Marianne Ricci on June 23, 1974 in Taylorville.

 

Danny was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville. He was co-owner of Pana Monument Company in Pana, Ill. and Adams and Masterson Memorials in Taylorville. He began his working career as a paper carrier for the Breeze Courier. He continued at the newspaper in circulation, typesetting, and lastly in advertising.

 

Danny was proud to accomplish the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a past member of Taylorville Lions Club. He belonged to the Illinois Monument Association, where he had served as both Vice President and later President. He was also a National Trustee in the Monument Builders of North America.

 

Surviving are his wife Marianne of Taylorville; son Ricci Edward Adams of Sunnyvale, Calif.; his mother Hattie Adams of Taylorville; sister Anita Netherton of Decatur; nieces Susan Masterson Duncan, Dawn Adams Hudson, Alisa Whitchurch; nephews Brad Netherton, Michael Masterson, and Brian Netherton. He is also survived by two great nieces, two great nephews, two great-great nieces, and one great-great nephew.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Ernie Adams.

 

Private services will be held Tuesday, December 29th at Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville. Pastor Steve Switzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to: Missions Fund c/o Calvary Baptist Church, 930 Haner Ave., Taylorville, IL 62568; or Activity Fund c/o Regency Care, 2120 West Washington St., Springfield, IL 62704.

Kevin Lynn "Boogo" Corso

Kevin Lynn “Boogo” Corso age 65 of Tovey, IL passed away at 8:45 p.m. December 23rd, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.


Kevin was born January 6, 1955 in Taylorville, IL the son of John J. Jr. and Marilyn “Hope” (McQuade) Corso.
On January 18, 1974 Kevin married the former Debra Ann Crowder at Davis Memorial Church, Taylorville, IL.  A union that would last 47 years. “A love that few ever find.”


“Boogo” as he was so widely and affectionately known throughout the midland area, started working at Peabody Mine #10, Pawnee, IL in 1976 and retiring in 94’ when the mine closed.


He worked many jobs at the mine, but perhaps best known for his adeptness at operating a continuous miner “Coal Hog”.
Following the mines closing, he bartended at several locations in the midland area and was a great mentor to his many customers.  Later, he and his wife Debra operated their own bar in Tovey, IL aptly named Boogo’s Bar and Grill.


He enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking, all of which he was a master.  He also liked to share his ‘Harvest’ with the many who came to ‘Shoot the bull’ and share a cold ‘Stag’.


“Boogo”, a legend in his own time.’  He will be greatly missed by his family, whom he loved dearly, and all who knew him.
Leaving to cherish his memories.  Wife Debra.  Children Tim (Melissa) Corso, Shannon (Jeff) Girard, Melanie (Late David) McEntire.  Grandchildren Trista Corso, Kevin Corso, Aaron Corso, Hannah Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Caleb Girard, Emily Girard, Halie McEntire, Siera McEntire and great granddaughter Harper Richards, Brother John J. (Sheila) Corso III, Sisters Madonna (Al) Frazier, Debbie (Joe) Pop, Julitta (Joe) Newingham and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.


A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.  Rev Chad Foster will officiate. 

 

Visitation for Mr. Kevin “Boogo” Corso will be held for 2 hours before his services Sunday at Masterson’s.  Covid 19 precautions will be observed. 

 

Nancy Elizabeth Cotton

Nancy Elizabeth Cotton, 76, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 8:32 p.m. in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield IL. She was born on February 2, 1944 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Gerald and Geraldine (Robertson) Nance. Nancy enjoyed driving a bus for Beck Bus Company in Taylorville and greeting all of the children with a smile each morning.


She is survived by her Daughter: Elizabeth Trice of Charleston, SC., Grandchildren: Gerald Pantoja of Yonkers, NY, Kalisa Trice of Charleston, SC, Tatiana Trice of Charleston, SC, and Tyrone Trice of Charleston, SC., Great Granddaughter: Harmony of Charleston, SC, Brother: James Nance of Austin, TN and several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.


Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville, IL with inurnment to follow.

Lynne Estes

Lynne Lee Estes, 79 of Taylorville, passed away at 8:30pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Regency Care in Springfield.  She was born on September 2, 1941 in Taylorville, the daughter of Irwin and Thelma (Ruggles) Kuntzman.  Lynne worked at WalMart, retiring as a receiving manager.  She enjoyed reading books, tending to her flower garden and dearly loved her children and grandchildren.  
She is survived by her children: Yvonne Lyn Szabo of Taylorville, Yvette Marie Schroeder (Rick) of Edinburg, and Jon Estes (Laurie) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Alexis, Jonathon, Larissa, Jeremiah, Aaron, Colin, Tara, and Joli; and 11 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: John Kuntzman, Lanny Kuntzman, and Cam Kuntzman.

Daniel Washburn

Daniel Jay Washburn, 58 of Taylorville, passed away at 1:50am on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.  He was born on December 14, 1962 in Pana, the son of Lloyd and Bea (Blount) Washburn.  He married Rene Corso on September 18, 2011 in Owaneco.  Dan worked as a supervisor for A-lert Construction Services in Decatur and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife: Rene Corso; stepdaughter: Mina Sanders; parents: Lloyd and Bea Washburn; siblings: Michael Washburn (Nora), Ted Washburn, Debra Menn (Roger), Lloyd Washburn (Brenda), and Mark Washburn; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. 
Dan will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donna Lucas

Donna Lucas, 71, of Springfield, formerly of Kincaid, IL passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 9:52 a.m. at her residence in Springfield. She was born on October 17, 1949 in San Antonio, TX the daughter of Joseph Dexter and Elizabeth (Bawgus) Smith. She married Fred Lucas in July of 1974 in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Donna was a homemaker, sales professional and gospel singer. 
She is survived by her Husband: Fred Lucas, Son: David Lucas of Taylorville, IL., Daughters: Lori (Rob) Thomason of Taylorville, IL and Teresa (Scott) Mazzini of Springfield, IL, Grandchildren: Dustin Thomason, Shane Lucas, Nolan Lucas, Tyler Mazzini, Lucas Mazzini, Dillon Lucas and Tanner Thomason, Great-Grandchildren: Braelynne and Braxton, Sister: Betty (Bob) Sammons of Arlington, TX, Brother: Dexter Smith of Taylorville, IL, Sister-in-Law: Maggie Smith of Minnesota  and Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Kenneth Lupton

Kenneth Wilber Lupton, 87, of Springfield passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 11:13 a.m. at Concordia Village in Springfield, IL. He was born on August 25, 1933 in Shelbyville, IL the son of James Wilber & Clara M. (Furr) Lupton. He attended Sparks Business College and Southern Illinois University. He also served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Marilyn D. Roberts on May 25, 1963 in the Shelbyville Christian Church in Shelbyville, IL.  Ken retired as an engineering technician for the State of Illinois. He was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church, Charter member of the Edinburg Lions Club for 35 years, Coles County Barbershop Chorus, VFW Post #4495 and the NRA for 55 years.
He is survived by his Wife: Marilyn Lupton. Survived by Daughter: Monica A. (Christopher) Wright of Rochester, IL, Son: Gregory S. (Ann) Lupton of Palmer, IL, Grandchildren: Hannah and Claire Lupton and Sarah Wright, Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Carl and Lowell Lupton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 1:00-3:00p.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville, IL There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Janet Gaynor

Janet Marie (Draper) Gaynor, 81 of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 5:15 p.m. in her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on July 8, 1939 in Springfield, IL the daughter of William and Betty Jane Draper Sr. She married Raymond Patrick Gaynor Jr. on March 15, 1958 in the Pasfield Baptist Church in Springfield, IL. She retired from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office as a cook.  Janet was a stranger to no one. She opened up her home to anyone, always helping others and putting herself last. She is now in the presence of Christ our Lord with her spouse who preceded her in death. No more pain, no more sorrow but beholding the Glory of God.
She is survived by her Daughters: Kathy (Kevin) Curry of Springfield, IL, Debbie Penrod of Kentucky, Tamara (Kevin) Durbin of Taylorville, IL, Sons: Raymond Patrick (Regina) Gaynor III, Dennis (Cassandra) Atteberry of Taylorville, IL, Fourteen Grandchildren, Eighteen Great-Grandchildren, Two Great Great Grandchildren, Mother: Betty Draper of Springfield, IL, and Two Brothers. Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, sister and 2 brothers.

George Tom Pierce

George “Tom” Pierce, 81, of Taylorville passed away at 4:37 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Carle BroMenn in Normal.


Tom was born July 15, 1939 in Taylorville, the son of Charles and Mary (Sims) Pierce.  He graduated from Stonington High School, and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Air Force.  After his honorable discharge, Tom worked for Caterpillar as a spot welder until his retirement.  He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, playing cards, and shooting pool.  Tom also enjoyed wintering in Texas every year.  


He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant twin brothers.


Tom is survived by his companion, Carmeline Skinner of Taylorville; daughters, Lisa (husband, Gabe) Corey of Des Plaines, and Loretta (husband, Miguel) Bonilla of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Gabriel (wife, Elisabeth), Alexander (fiancée, Kinga Purta), George, Woodrow, Alecia, Samuel, and Louis Corey; and his brother, Jerry Pierce of Springfield.


Private family ceremonies will be held, followed by burial at Old Stonington Cemetery.

Jerry Rhodes

Jerry Ray Rhodes, 76, of Pana, IL passed away at 3:44 a.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL.

 

Jerry was born on November 2, 1944, in Pana, the third of 11 children, to Oral “Tex” and Imogene (Russell) Rhodes. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Metal, the Army Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Jerry and Joan Marie Brewer were united in holy matrimony on June 9, 1997 and from that union he gained four daughters: Cindy, Kimberly, Amy and Holly. Jerry was a member of Knobs Baptist Church in Tower Hill, the Kerr-Mize Post #168 American Legion of Pana and the Laborers’ Local 159 in Decatur. Jerry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed dearly by all those who knew him.

 

Surviving are his son/grandson, Antjuan Ray Rhodes of Pana; four stepdaughters: Cindy (Leonard) Scholes of Vandalia, Kimberly Coen of Taylorville, Amy (Todd) Wright of Shelbyville and Holly Smith of Pana; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings: Gary (Donna) Rhodes of Pana, Carl (Penny) Rhodes of Shelbyville, Janet Robertson of Shelbyville, Rick Rhodes of Shelbyville and Debbie (Jeff) Stephens of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Val Rhodes of Shelbyville; his two beloved fur babies, Bentley and Tootsie and many nieces and nephews.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan Marie Rhodes; three brothers: Larry Rhodes, Ronnie Rhodes and Gene Rhodes; two sisters: Dottie Rhodes and Linda Rhodes Polley; two nephews: Chad and Randy; two nieces: Karrie and Jill and his beloved fur baby, Butterball.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will take place in Twin Pines Cemetery in Pana with military rites performed by the Kerr-Mize Post #168 American Legion of Pana. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. David Pickett

David Allen Pickett, 61 of Taylorville, passed away at 5:25pm on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on March 10, 1959 in Taylorville, the son of James D. and Mary Gean (Andrews) Pickett.  He married Deborah Ann Reo on August 14, 1982 in Mt. Prospect.  
Dave graduated from Taylorville High School in 1977 and earned degrees in accounting and computer science from Western Illinois University, graduating in 1981.  After 2 decades of working for multiple companies, Dave used his skills as an entrepreneur to start his own consulting firm, Vision Consulting.  Dave will be forever remembered for the way he used his entrepreneurial and photography skills, and his love of sharing with others, to start his sports photography business, Fun Photo.  What started as a hobby 20 years ago, turned into a full-time business of photographing youth sporting events, school pictures, and other special occasions.  Dave’s passion of photography brough smiles to countless people across Central Illinois.  Through the thousands of sporting events he attended, and the countless photos he took, he documented 20 years of memories for youth athletes around the area.  
Dave had a true love for fishing.  Whether it was with his dad, sons, or other family and friends he found peace at the lake.  He had a skill of utilizing insects as bait, even if it meant catching a locust out of the air, placing it on the hook, and immediately catching another keeper.  He loved sports and was a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and before they left, the Rams.  Dave had a talent of cooking and loved to entertain his friends and family.  Baking cookies was a long-time joy of his and he shared his treats with all around him.  Most of all, Dave had a love of family and friends and making those around him happy.  His wonderful personality and smile will always be remembered.  His family, especially his grandchildren, were the center of his life. 
He is survived by his wife: Debbie Pickett of Taylorville; sons: Mark Pickett (Caraline) of Lake Forest and J.D. Pickett (Amanda) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Libbey, Bennett, Jamison, Charlotte, Connor, and another expected soon; parents: James and Mary Gean Pickett of Leesburg, Florida; siblings: Linda Westbrook (William) and Thomas Pickett, both of Taylorville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents: James & Hattie Pickett and Henry & Myrtle Andrews; and several aunts, uncles, and a cousin.

LaVern 'Moe' Moliske

LaVern “Moe” Moliske, 85 of Taylorville, passed away at 4:05am on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville.  He was born on September 18, 1935 in Tovey, the son of Walter and Evonne (Deckens) Moliske.  Moe graduated from Kincaid High School and married his high school sweetheart, Gayla Wilson on June 29, 1957 in Kincaid.  He served his country as part of the Illinois Army National Guard.  He retired in 1995 after a long coal-mining career at mines in Farmersville and Coffeen.  In his retirement years, he started “Moe and Mick’s Detail” with his son.  Moe loved the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting, fishing, and gardening.  Moe and Gayla enjoyed 20 years of wintering in Florida.  He enjoyed his many mornings spent at McDonald’s with his coffee group.  Moe had an artistic gift, he enjoyed wood carving and creating watercolor paintings of landscapes, wildlife, and lighthouses.  More than anything, he was devoted to his family.  He will always be remembered as the solid rock of his family.  The values he instilled in his children and grandchildren made them what they are today.  
LaVern is survived by his wife: Gayla Moliske; children: Julie Mayer (Mike), Cathy Craggs (Tad), and Mick Moliske (Lori) all of Taylorville; grandchildren: Sean Moliske, Jason Mayer (Deanna), Maxx Craggs (Emily), Tiffany Moliske, Jenni Mayer, and Caitlin Walker (Clay); great grandchildren: Iris Craggs and Kenton Mayer; and sister-in-law: Pam Lanzotti (Frank).  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry Hinton

Jerry Hinton, 75 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:45 p.m. at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana, IL. He was born on January 5, 1945 in Oconee, IL the son of Forrest and Florence (Cothern) Hinton. He Married Ruth Babbs on April 5, 1964. He retired from Caterpillar in Decatur. Jerry was a member and Past Master several times of Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM, Former Social Member of the VFW Post #4495, American Legion Post #73, the Taylorville Eagles and the Taylorville Moose Lodge. 


He is survived by his Wife: Ruth Hinton of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Cori (Steve) Tracey, Marianne (Darrin) McCall; Sons: Mike (Valerie) Davis; Grandchildren: Jason Lashbrook, Trevor Hinton, Tim Hinton; Sisters: Joan Nudo of Springfield, IL; Judy Stewart of Ft. Myers, FL; Sharon Carter of Branson, MO; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his Brother: Robert Hinton.


Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL with Rev. Dennis Hudson officiating. Masonic Rites will be performed by Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM Taylorville.

Kenneth Paul Hasquin

Kenneth Paul Hasquin, 49 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 2:50 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on May 12, 1971 in Carlinville, IL the son of Frank Willis and Jo Ann (Conlee) Hasquin. Ken worked as a mechanic.


He is survived by his Brother: Chris (Shannon) Hasquin of Taylorville, IL; Step-Father: Randy Randol of Taylorville, IL; Nieces: Alicia Hasquin, Brittany (Logan) Sarginson; Nephews: Codi Hasquin, David (Marissa) Hasquin and Collin Hasquin. He was preceded in death by his Mother: Jo Ann Randol.

Robert William Hamer

Robert William Hamer, 87 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 8:22 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born on July 10, 1933 in Alton, IL the son of William T. and Edna G. (Honeyman) Hamer. He Married Patricia B. Bishop on June 1, 1957 and she preceded him in death. He later married Bette Jo Ulz on December 31, 1992 and she also preceded him in death. Bob was the owner of Elm Street Market in Alton, IL for 13 years and he was a State Farm Insurance Agent for 29 years in Taylorville. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #25 AF & AM in Alton, IL, a Past President of the Barber Shop Singers, VP of Taylorville Country Club, Board Member the Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, and a Past President of the Taylorville Rotary Club. Bob served in the Army as a military policeman and he coached Little League for many years. Bob was known for his quick wit, a good joke and vibrant personality. He was the true essence of a family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family at every opportunity afforded to him. Bob was fortunate enough to see his grandsons flourish into successful adults and had three beautiful great-grandchildren wrapped around his heart. 


He is survived by his Daughters: Susan (Jim) Montgomery of Taylorville, IL, Sara (Steve) Kirby of Pawnee, IL, Sandy (Scott) Hockman of Champaign, IL, Honorary Daughter: Cendy “Lulu” (VanTassell) Luto; Grandchildren: Shaefer (Paige) Kirby, Spencer (Britney) Kirby, Mitchell Hockman; Great-Grandchildren: Stella, Knox and Fitz Kirby; Sister-in-Law: Janet Bishop; Nephews: Mark Clark and Richie Bishop; Nieces: Laura Clark, Helen Bishop, Jana Bishop, Regina Bishop and Rosemary Bishop. He was preceded in death by his parents, and both wives, Sister: Sally Hamer-Clark and Brother-in-Law: Michael Bishop.


Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Military Graveside Honors will be provided by the Taylorville VFW Post 4495, the American Legion Post #72 and the Department of Defense.

Mary (Reynolds) Cima

Mary Ellen (Reynolds) Cima, 95, of Taylorville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Taylorville, Ill. She was born on June 22, 1925, the daughter of Laura (Gordon) and Emerson Reynolds in Whitley County, Kentucky. She married Mark J.R. Meadows in Campbell County, Tennessee, on May 31, 1941. They had three children, Donnie, Brenda and Michael, who died in infancy. They divorced and she later married Tom Cima, of Kincaid, Ill., on November 9, 1963; he preceded her in death on January 30, 1999. Mary was a homemaker most of her lifetime but also worked in various areas of employment including the Cardinal factory, the State of Illinois, Senior Citizens/Meals on Wheels in Kincaid, Ill., and had her own bar/restaurant, Mary's Place, in Langleyville, Ill. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Kincaid for many years, golfed in ladies' leagues at Lakeshore Golf Course in Taylorville, bowled in ladies' leagues, played bocce ball and participated in the State Fair tournaments, loved to shop, lunch, have drinks with friends, cook and spend time with her family. Many winters were spent enjoying the good life as a "snow bird" with her husband, Tom, in Punta Gorda, Florida. Friends, family and acquaintances have noted she was a favorite of theirs, described as friendly, nice, sweet, fun, funny and always had a warm smile. 

Mary is survived and will be sadly missed by a son, Donnie (Betty) Meadows of Taylorville, Ill., daughter, Brenda Meadows Siegrist of Taylorville, seven grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, young brother, John Reynolds, step-mother, Sue Reynolds, step-sister, Rose Belle Woods, several nephews, both husbands and infant son. 

A private family memorial will be held at a future date.

Alma Marie Haydock

Alma Marie Haydock, 85, of Taylorville, passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

Alma was born October 20, 1935 in Macoupin County, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Stead) Gates.  She moved to Anaheim, CA in her younger years, where she worked in various nursing homes, before she moved back in 1982.  Alma was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Taylorville.  She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble.  There was not a word in the dictionary that Alma didn’t know how to spell, or what it meant.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, John and Perry Wing; brothers, Harry, Russell, and Eugene Gates; and sisters, Connie Towers, Alice Mae Newell, Irene Kavanaugh, and Evelyn Pelletier.

 

Alma is survived by her children, Dennis Wing of Canada, Elizabeth Holsopple of Taylorville, Carolyn Wing of New Zealand, and Lauren Haydock of Phoeniz, AZ; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; siblings, David (wife, Shirley) Gates, and Ellen (husband, John) Pulberenti; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Girard Cemetery in Girard, with Rev. Steven Robinson officiating.

Barbara Lynn Miller

Barbara Lynn Miller, 43, of Taylorville, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, December 11, 2020 at her home.

 

Barb was born on May 20, 1977 in Springfield, the daughter of Larry G. Miller and Claudia Davis.  She spent the majority of her adult life as a homemaker.  Barb was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Cubs fan, and she loved spending time with her family and her dog, Prince.

 

She was preceded in death by her father; step-father, Bill Skinner; and maternal grandmother, Rosemary Terry.

 

Barb is survived by her mother, Claudia Skinner of Taylorville; fiancé, Chris Flaherty of Taylorville; daughters, Sydney Miller of Taylorville, and Madison Miller of Morrisonville; grandchildren, Ayva, Myah, Luna, Leo, and Major; sisters, Carol (husband, Tim) Beiermann of Carrollton, Mary Lee (companion, Kirk Spurgeon) Miller of Morrisonville, and Lisa M. Harker of Olney; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Marjorie Fleming-Dirks, 95 of Ohlman passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 12:25 a.m. in her home in Ohlman, IL. She was born on February 5, 1925 in Bear Creek TWP in Rural Christina County, IL the daughter of Harvey Andrew and Mary Ethel (Kelly) Ginger. She married Leo Earl Fleming in 1940 and they later divorced, then she married Cecil Dirks in 1972 and he preceded her in death. She worked many years as a nurse’s aid at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro and later as the Postal Clerk at the Ohlman Post office for 18 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Ohlman and she was a Village of Ohlman Trustee.
She is survived by her Sons: Ronald (Lynn) Fleming of Taylorville, Ted (Linda) Fleming of Taylorville, IL; Roger Fleming of Taylorville; James Ward of Herrin, IL; Daughter: Carolyn Anderson of Nokomis, IL; Jeanne (Bruce) Woody of Brandon, FL Barbara Gaffigan of LaPort, TX; twenty-four Grandchildren; thirty seven Great-Grandchildren; two Great-Great-Grandchildren; Step-Daughters: Patty (Kevin) Herpstreith, Angie Danuser; Half Siblings: Wanda Weingart, David Hendricks, Dennis Schneider, Judy Hamm, William Ginger, Charles Ginger; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Nelvin Sloman

Nelvin Sloman, 90 of Springfield passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:55 p.m. at his home in Springfield, IL. He was born on October 8, 1930 in Ramsey, IL the son of William and Lois (Wilson) Sloman. He Married Ida D. Garrett on June 24, 1950 in the Fairview Methodist Church south east of Morrisonville, IL and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2018. He graduated from Morrisonville High school in the class of 1948 and he attended Springfield, Junior College. Nelvin worked as a Farmer and Pioneer Seed Representative for over 30 years. He was a member of the Zenobia Baptist Church and he also attended Bethel Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, IL. He was a Charter Member of the Christian County Genealogical Society and past member of the Christian County Historical Society.

Donn Diehl Jr

Donn R. Diehl Jr., 78 of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 7:50 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 14, 1942 in San Diego, CA the son of Donn R. and Claudia (Day) Diehl Sr. He married Gwen Keller on April 20, 1974 in East Moline, IL.  He served in the United States Army and retired in 1984 and then worked at Christian County Mental Health until his retirement. Donn was proud of the time he served in Germany and spoke of it frequently.  Donn was a member of the American Legion Post #73 in Taylorville.  
He is survived by his wife: Gwen Diehl of Taylorville, IL, Sons: Kevin (Deborah) Diehl of Arnold, MO; Donn E. William Isaac Fox, 83 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 1:55 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on June 1, 1937 in Springfield, IL the son of Sidney Eugene and Samantha Faye (Dial) Fox. He married Monica Gange on March 9, 1959 in Minot, ND and they later divorced. He worked as a Coal miner at Coffeen and later Amex Coal in Southern Illinois. 
He is survived by his Son: Kelvin (Denise) Fox of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Trina Szabo of Taylorville, IL; Terressa (Mark) Pearse of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Amber, Brittney, Nevaeh, Zariah, Malique, Amanda, Haiden, Timothy, Jacob, Tristen, Brent; Great-Grandchildren: Lyndon, Emery, Tinley, Iziaek, Warrak, Hudson, Ella, Lilly, Kaylyn, Wesley and Two Nieces. Barbara Jo "Bobbie" Lynn

Barbara Jo “Bobbie” Lynn, 71 of Stonington, formerly of Normal, passed away at 1:58pm on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in her home.  She was born on May 28, 1949 in Taylorville, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Gorden) Lynn.  Bobbie earned her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.  She taught school for 35 years at Morton Jr. High and at Normal Parkside Jr. High.  She was a member of Old Stonington Baptist Church for over 60 years.  Bobbie was a talented quilter and seamstress and enjoyed working in the garden.  Bobbie took over the family craft of making and canning green pickles.  She always enjoyed shopping and her family was often the recipients of her bargain finds. She loved making people smile when she entertained as “Pickles the Clown” at countless parties and community events.  Bobbie loved playing cards and games with family and friends.  She dearly loved her family and for the last 10 years served as caregiver for her mother.  Bobbie was a caring friend to all that knew her.  Her loving, caring disposition touched many in the community.
She is survived by her mother: Mary Lynn of Stonington; sisters: Mary Alice Bonsoe (John) of Metamora and Judy Swigert (Wayne) of Taylorville; nieces and nephew: Keri Lee (Matt) of Lexington, Kentucky, Tim Bonsoe (Lisa) of Washington, Illinois, Ashley Walker (Jesse) of Wauconda, Illinois, and Stephanie Kendle (Kirk) of Oswego, Illinois; great nieces and nephew: Allison Bonsoe, Evan Bonsoe, Brynn Walker, Cecelia and Vivian Lee, Adalise Kendle, Coralie Walker, and Gracelyn Kendle; uncle: Marvin Gorden (Esther); and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her father: Joe Lynn.

Kathleen Rogers

Kathleen Ramona Rogers, 73 of Springfield, passed away at 1:34am on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.  She was born on April 3, 1947 in Beardstown, the daughter of Arthur and Ramona (Brasel) Anderson.  She married Laurence Rogers Jr. on November 13, 1965 in the Nazarene Church in Astoria.  Kathy graduated from the Astoria High School in 1965.  She previously worked as a bank teller and for several years at the Springfield Kmart.  Kathy had a talent for sewing and needle work.  She enjoyed working crossword and Sudoku puzzles and loved the many dogs she has had throughout the years.  
She is survived by her husband: Larry Rogers Jr. of Springfield; daughters: Carrie Anderson (Kevin), Heather Rogers, and Sara Rogers all of Springfield; grandsons: Alexander Randall and Matthew Randall; brother: Daniel Anderson (Cristina) of Rockford; and sister-in-law: Sue Ann Herrick (William) of Canton.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Roy David Anderson.

Terry Land

Terry Ira Land, 79, of Farmersville, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 with family members by his side, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  
Terry was born on November 2, 1941 in Peoria, to Ira and Gladys (Smith) Land (later Pearson) and step-son to Ivan Pearson.  A 1960 graduate of Morrisonville High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice Marie Fesser on June 23, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Harvel.
Terry proudly served our nation immediately after high school by enlisting in the United States Air Force, and later served full-time in the Missouri Air National Guard, mainly working on jet aircraft until his retirement in 1985.  In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed camping, bass fishing, farming and rebuilding Tri-Five Chevys.  Most of all, Terry’s passion was being with family no matter when and where they could meet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Wilson; and brother-in-law, Glenn C. Fesser.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Terry is survived by his son Mike (wife, Sheri) Land of Sachse, TX; his daughter Christy (husband, Dale) Witte of Wentzville, MO; incredibly special to him are his grandsons, Ian and Jake Land, as well as his granddaughter, Lily Witte; brothers-in-law, Larry (wife, Joyce) Fesser of Farmersville, and Dale (wife, Veronica) Fesser of Rochester; sister-in-law, Mary J. Fesser of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews. 
Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Monroe Street, Harvel, IL 62538.  Social distancing will be required, as well as the wearing of masks.
A funeral ceremony for the family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel, with Rev. Joseph Nehring officiating.  For those not able to attend, you may watch a live stream of the ceremony on the Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvel facebook page.
Interment with military honors will be follow the ceremony at Morrisonville Cemetery.

Joseph Schwab

Joseph George Schwab, 64 of Taylorville, passed away at 11:37am on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago.  He was born on July 28, 1956 in Taylorville, the son of Vincent J. and Jean E. (Johnson) Schwab.  Joe worked for 21 years at Georgia Pacific and most recently worked at GSI in Assumption.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Moose Lodge 1516.  He was a die-hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Notre Dame.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons: Vince Schwab (Andrea) and Adam Schwab (Wendy) both of Taylorville; grandchildren: Stella Schwab, Leah Doty, Shayna Schwab, Lily Schwab, Alexzia Schwab, Ryann Kinsey, and Rudy Schwab; brother: Mark Schwab (Autumn) of Ludington, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Philip Schwab; sister: Barbara Lake; aunt: Norma Collebrusco; and uncle: George “Rusty” Johnson.

David Requarth

David L. Requarth, 78 of Edinburg, passed away at 2:17pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on July 5, 1942 in Buckhart Township, the son of Lawrence C. and Iva Rhea (Grant) Requarth.  He married Margaret Tumiati on December 29, 1972 in Edinburg.  David served in the Illinois Air National Guard.  He worked for Boyd-Rodden Implement Company and retired from the Peabody Coal Company.  David was a member of the Edinburg Trinity Lutheran Church and also attended Taylorville Trinity Lutheran Church.  He loved working in his vegetable garden and taking trips to Arthur. 
He is survived by his wife: Margaret Requarth of Edinburg; siblings: Emma Thomas of Edinburg, Charles Requarth (Donna) of Edinburg, and Margaret Moody (Greg) of Cadiz, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved companion Mr. Abe.  He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters.  
Mr. Requarth is going to be cremated, and no services will be held at this time. Donald Klinger

Donald Allen Klinger, 50 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 11:20 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on December 4, 1970 in Taylorville, IL the son of Gary and Kay (Clutter) Klinger. Don worked as a server at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield, but more importantly; Don was an exceptional person. When he was around everyone was laughing. He always wanted to make people smile. He was a people pleaser and he was able to do that best when he was on a baseball field. 
He is survived by his Daughter: Alexis (Josh) Durbin of Riverton, IL; Grandchildren: Dawson and Dylaney Burton of Riverton, IL; Parents: Gary and Kay Klinger of Taylorville; Brother: Gary (Vicky) Klinger Jr. of Springfield, IL; Mike (Tara) Wiseman of Taylorville, Gary Michael Klinger of Taylorville, IL; Sister: Debby (Mike) Benz- Wiseman of Mechanicsburg, IL; Friend: Cindy DeLaCruz of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Niece: Racheal Jamison.  
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 11:00-12:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Patricia Moss

Patricia L. Moss, 89 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Patricia was born on July 7, 1931 in Taylorville, Illinois, the daughter of Patrick H. & Helena M. (Klassen) Galbraith.  She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Wayne Moss Sr., who passed away on September 4, 1970.

Patricia retired from Sangamon Card Company after working many years and she was baptized in to the Catholic Faith. She was the loving mother of Bernard Wayne (Hilary) Moss Jr. of Rochester, IL; Cheryl Lawrence-Prather (Richard) of Chatham, IL; Daughter-in-Law: Cindy Blair of Kincaid, IL, Step-Daughter: Brenda Oliver of Rock Island, IL; Linda Moss of Iowa City, IA. She was also the cherished grandmother of Tricia Seeman of Fairbury, IL, B. Ryan Blair, Mandy Getz both of Edinburg, IL, Kiley (Scott) Gard, Kelsey (Stephen) Kenneally, and Zachary Moss all of Bremerton, WA; Eli and Cody Moss of Rochester, IL; Sean (Angie) Nelson all of Milan, IL; Amber (Josh) Howit of Bettendorf, IA. She was also the proud Great-Grandmother of Brianna Seeman of Fairbury, IL; Brylynn Blair of Springfield, OR Wesley Kenneally of Bremerton, WA; Karson and Keegan Getz of Edinburg, IL; Landyn and Chloe Nelson of Milan, IL; Aiden Warren, Memphis and Phoenix Howit of Bettendorf, IA. Roger Varner

Roger Leroy Varner, 80 of Macon, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:20 a.m. at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Virden, IL. He was born on November 10, 1940 in Lovington, IL the son of Gordon and Cleta (Mardis) Varner. He Married Delilah K. Helm in April of 1985 and she preceded him on July 11, 2020. He served in the United States Army and later worked at Caterpillar in Decatur, IL.  Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and playing pool.  
He is survived by one son and two daughters, two step-daughters, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 brother and two sisters, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, one brother, one sister and a step-son.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Keller Cemetery in Lovington, IL with military graveside honors and Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery in Lovington, IL

Christine Diss

Christine Diss, 90 of Taylorville, formerly of Owaneco, passed away at 10:38am on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 31, 1930 in Pana, the daughter of Herman and Alice Minnette (Schmidt) Carlton.  She married Franklin T Diss on June 22, 1952 in the Owaneco United Methodist Church.  Frank preceded her in death on September 7, 2020.  Chris was a long-time member of the Owaneco United Methodist Church.  She worked along side her husband on the family dairy farm for many years.  Early in her life she worked at the Pana hospital, and later in life, after raising her children, she worked for several years in the Taylorville Jr. High School cafeteria.  Chris had a passion for gardening.  From planning in the winter months through tending to the garden spring through fall, she loved growing vegetables to share with everyone she knew.  There was no doubt that Chris’s greatest love was for her family and her friends.  
She is survived by her daughter: Cindy Diss of Taylorville; son: Daniel Diss of Wheaton; brother: David Carlton of Taylorville; sisters-in-law: Mary Lawyer of Owaneco and June Crane of Sun City, California and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law: Chauncey and Ruby Diss; and her husband.

Phyllis J. Wilson

Phyllis J. Wilson, 84 of Edinburg, passed away at 11:45am on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on June 2, 1936 in Barry, Illinois, the daughter of Merle and Edith (Baker) Mellon.  She married Richard Wilson on February 2, 1956 in Barry.  Phyllis worked for several years at the Chatham Community Bank and later at Sangamon State University from where she retired.  She grew up in the Methodist Church.  Phyllis had a love for all animals.  She enjoyed feeding birds and had many dogs throughout the years, but her true passion was horses.  She rode and cared for horses during the majority of her life.  She loved the time spend with her animals and took many trail-riding trips with friends.  Phyllis enjoyed time spent outdoors, taking walks in the woods.  


She is survived by her husband: Richard Wilson of Edinburg; children: Marsha Turner (Steve) of Weatherford, Texas, Mitchell Wilson of Edinburg, and Mark Wilson (Tammy) of Stonington.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Robert Mellon and Don Mellon.

Kenneth L. Smith

Kenneth L. Smith, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 9:02 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born on January 24, 1932 in Barnhill, IL the son of Roy and Nellie (Rose) Smith. He Married Shirley Mills on August 2, 1952 and she preceded him on June 7, 2005 and later married Peggy Gross on April 8, 2006. He served in the United States Air Force after College. He worked at Firestone, Hopper Paper Company, then was a mailman for 20 years. He became the Officer in Charge for the Postal Service, then became the Post Master in Pana, Il for 5 years before moving to Shelbyville to be Post Master until his retirement. He served on the Rescue Squad and had many hobbies including reading, building houses, wood working, camping, traveling, and he loved being around his family. He was always there to supervise projects at all of our homes. One fondest memory, his family had of Ken in his later years, will always be anytime we would walk in his home, he would have a Pepsi, a book to read and his snacks. Ken had an amazing love for the Lord. 


He is survived by his Daughters: Debi (John) Sherwood of Taylorville, IL  Donna (Harold) Hodge of Taylorville, IL,  Deanna (Gerald) Bottrell of Mt. Auburn, IL, Denise (Tom) Vail of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Jason (Stephanie) Griffith, Alissa Sherwood, Marlena Muncy, Jeremy (Bailey) Sherwood, Ryan (Danielle) Hosto, Adam (Corrina) Hosto, Eric (Brooke) Vail, Erica (Leonard) Otto, Randy Vail, Brad (Tori) Vail, Cindy (Greg) Largent, Don Bottrell; 20 Great-Grandchildren; 4 great- great-Grandchildren; sisters: Pat Jones of Taylorville, Cathy Hunter of Taylorville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with military graveside honors and Pastor James Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Patricia Jane (Eyman) Chopp

Patricia (Eyman) Chopp

Patricia Jane (Eyman) Chopp, 73 of Taylorville, IL, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Patricia was born on July 31, 1947 in Omaha, NE to Warren & Mildred (Scheef) Eyman. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents; Clarence & Lillian Eyman and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Patricia moved to Little Rock, AR from Flint, MI and then to Jacksonville, AR where she was General Manager of Dollar Tree before moving to Morrisonville, IL. She was employed at the Taylorville Walmart as a cashier from 2007 until retiring about 8 years ago. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and having lunch with dear friends Debbie Goodrich, Britney & Maxx, who called her Grandma Pat.

She is survived by three brothers: Duke (Robbye) Eyman & nephew, Dakota, of Warren, AR; Chad Eyman of Mabelvalle, AR; and Cory (Jimmie) Eyman & niece, Amber, of Cabot, AR. Two sisters: Lynette (Eyman) White and Lianne Scheaffer, several nieces of Washington, IL. Also surviving are aunts: Lillian Kent of Taylorville, IL, Mary (Butch) Harper of Assumption, IL. She leaves behind several cousins she enjoyed family gatherings with. Patricia made friends with many in her walk of life and one stands out, Jackie Fluty, of Flint, MI who she worked with at a small pretzel shop in a mall. They continued to talk often over the phone.

Private family services will be at a later date with burial in Morrisonville Cemetery.

Robert 'Hatch' Stewart

Robert “Hatch” Stewart, 90, of Morrisonville, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Hatch was born March 16, 1930 in Columbus, OH, the son of Melvin and Elizabeth (Chesser) Stewart.  He moved to Morrisonville as a young boy, and grew up working in his father’s meat locker business, as it evolved into Stewart’s IGA.  Hatch graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1948, where he was the Senior Class President.  Following high school, he proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1948-1949, and then the Naval Reserves until 1955.  While in the reserves, Hatch married Frances Smothers on March 25, 1951 in Hillsboro.  In 1955, he became a member of the Illinois Air National Guard, and he served until his retirement in 1990.

Through the years, Hatch served the Morrisonville community in many capacities, primarily as a friend and leader to its youth.  He was a Boy Scout leader, and a coach to many children’s sports teams, including little league, pony league, and the St. Maurice Grade School basketball team.  Hatch has taught many generations of Morrisonville kids to swim and water ski.  After retirement, he served as a volunteer ambulance driver, and he has been a dedicated member of the Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721 where he provided military honors at countless funerals, and he marched in many Morrisonville Parades.  Hatch was honored to be chosen as 2019 Grand Marshal of the Morrisonville Picnic and Homecoming.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Anderson; and brother, James M. Stewart.

Hatch is survived by his wife, Frances Stewart of Morrisonville; children, Pam Stewart of Riverton, Randy (wife, Lora) Stewart of Taylorville, and Rob Stewart of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Stacey (husband, Nathan) Laatsch of Chatham; great granddaughters, Evelyn and Mina; sister-in-law, Carol L. Stewart of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Morrisonville Cemetery with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #721 and the Department of Defense.

Russell Adams

Russell Gene Adams, 86 of Mt. Auburn passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 3:29 p.m. at his home in Mt. Auburn, IL. He was born on April 1, 1934 in Brookport, IL the son of Jay and Mae (Grower) Adams. He married Nilda L. Krieger on February 20, 1965 in Gillespie, IL and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2014. Russell served in the United States Air Force and worked as an Iron worker for Iron Workers Local 46 out of Springfield.
He is survived by his by Brother: Louis Adams of Brookport, IL; Nephews: Mike Adams of Brookport, IL; Gary Adams of Brookport, IL and Ronnie Dyer of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Son: Steve Adams and Sister: Lois Dyer. 
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn, IL with Pastor James Jones officiating.
