James Dee Spencer Jr of Springfield

James Dee Spencer Sr.,80, of Springfield, IL passed away on December 28, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.  He was born in Horse Cave, KY to Alfred and Anne Pearl (Watson) Spencer on June 12, 1931.  He was married to Rita McCarty; he then married Sherry Stevens; after he married Leta Underwood on November 18, 1994.  She Preceded him in death on April 19, 2011.  He was a retired Heating and cooling; James was a U.S Army Veteran serving in the Korean conflict and a member of the Witt Christian Church.

He is survived by brother, Stanley Eugene (Lorraine) Spencer of Horse Cave, KY, sons, James W. Spencer, Paul Spencer Sr.; Kenneth Spencer and Josh Spencer all of Springfield, IL, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by parents, sister; Mary Ellen Wells, Brothers, David Spencer and Randal Spencer, Wife, Leta

Visitation will be at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL.  Graveside Rites; Will be at 2:00pm Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL with Rev. Nick Geisert officiating.  Interment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.

John L. Myers of Stonington

John L. Myers, 70, of Stonington, passed away December 28, 2011 at 12:29 am at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born January 16, 1941 in Shelbyville, the son of Hershel and Della (Burton) Myers.  He married Kay Coleman in August, 1967 in Taylorville.  He was a retired farmer and was employed at the Garwood Seed Company.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; mother, Della Myers, Pana; son John A. (Robin) Myers of Mattoon; brothers Richard (Diane) Myers of FL., Larry (Carol) Myers of Woodridge and Phillip Myers of IL.; sister, Janice (Jim) Rabe of Whitehall; sisters-in-law, Vera (George) Thomason of Stonington, Pearl (Eldon) Weaver of Taylorville, Sue Farrell and Barbara Coleman both of Decatur; brothers-in-law, Charlie (Shirley) Coleman of Stonington and David (Mary) Coleman of Decatur; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father; sisters, Shirley Blakeman and Elda Dodd; brothers, Gerald Myers, Hershel Carroll Myers and Dwight Myers.

Graveside Rites will be Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 am at Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington with Military Rites by Stonington American Legion Post #257 and Rev. Jason Triplett officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Jack W. Vedas of Taylorville

Jack W. Vedas, 73, of Taylorville passed away at 12:56 pm, Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born November 5, 1938 in Taylorville, Il., the son of Ralph "Pockey" and Virginia Upchurch Vedas.  He married Amanda Y. Yonker in August, 1963 in Taylorville.  Jack retired from Caterpillar in Decatur, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, member of United Auto Workers Local 751, National Rifle Association, and was a former member of V.F.W. Post 4495.

He is survived by his wife Amanda Vedas of Taylorville, son Kirk Vedas and spouse Fen of San Francisco, CA., and brother, Bob Vedas and wife Dorie of Oak Park, Il.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Carla Vedas Griffiths.

There will be no services or visitation at this time.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Mr. Vedas was cremated.

Noel Hope Olson of Taylorville

Noel Hope Olson, Born at 4:02pm in the Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL on Friday, December 16, 2011.  Noel was stillborn to Rev. Matthew and Elisabeth (Loggans) Olson.  She is survived by her parents of Taylorville, IL; paternal grandparents: Mark and Stephanie Olson and material Grandparents; Tom and Susan Loggans all of Cheyenne, WY.  A Private family graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday December 21, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  Pastor Philip Neumann will be officiating.

John D. Westray of Taylorville

John D. Westray, 80, of Taylorville, passed away December 16, 2011 at 4:02 am at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born December 2, 1931 in Clinton IL, the son of Earl and Mabel (Blinkley) Westray. He married Phylis L. Middleton on July 5, 1975 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville. He retired from the Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville. He loved spending time with his family and he was an avid sports enthusiast and he loved golf.

He is survived by wife, Phylis, sons: Mark (Sonya) Westray in Colorado Springs, CO. David (Jean) Westray of Eureka IL, Rodeny (Vikki) Westray of Clinton IL, Brett Mills of Harvel, IL, daughter: Terra (Chris) Daykin of Taylorville, Grandchildren: Steven Westray, Erica Westray, Terra Mills, Ryan and Hannah Daykin, Ashely, Keith and Blade Rachal, great-grandchildren: Dallas, Saint and Samara, several, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents, sons: Jeff Westray and Billy Mills; four sisters, four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 4pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Interment with be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, with Graveside Military Rites. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00pm on Tuesday, December 20, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville.

Linda L. McCarty of Taylorville

Linda L. McCarty,74, of Taylorville, passed away December 15, 2011 at 8:25 am at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  She was born December 24, 1936 in Taylorville, Il., the daughter of Harold S. and Myrtle (Enlow) Coy.  She married John McCarty in 1975 in Taylorville.  She was a homemaker and member of the Pentecostal Church in Taylorville.

She is survived by sons, William Price of Co. and David Price of Taylorville; daughters Julie Hampton of Taylorville and Deborah K. Stevens of Pawnee; brothers Harold R. Coy, John Coy, Dick (Kathy) Cooy all of Taylorville and Larry Cooy of Mo.; sisters Carol Boone of Taylorville and marily (David) Cline of Langleyville; 11 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Robert Jones Jr.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 12:00 noon in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville with Rev. Russell Beard officiating.  Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 10:00 am till 12:00 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Norma E. Conner of Taylorville

Norma E. (O'Hara) Solomon-Conner, 86, of Taylorville, passed away December 11, 2011 at 9:55pm at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  She was born February 16, 1925 in Taylorville, the daughter of James Joseph and Stella (Gleaspen) O'Hara.  She married Peter Solomon in April, 1944 in Springfield.  He was killed in action during WWII on May 24, 1945.  She then married Walter Ray Conner in September, 1949 in Kincaid.  He preceded her in death on February, 1993.  She was a retired homemaker.

She is survived by son Gary Ray Conner of Spring Hill, FL.; daughter Cheryl Kay O'Donnell of Taylorville; sisters-in-law Dolores (Conner) Englemann of Springfield, Jean (Solomon) Reiser of Fort Myers, Fl. and Judy Solomon of Spring Hill, Fl. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Peter Solomon; husband, Walter Conner and son-in-law, Patrick O'Donnell.

Mass service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, December 19, 2011 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, Kincaid with Father Alan Hunter Officiating.  Interment will be in St. Maurice Cemetery, Morrisonville.  Visitation will be from 10:00am to 11:00am, Monday, December 19, 2011 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Kincaid.

Charles William Coffey of Taylorville, IL

Charles William Coffey, 73, of Taylorville passed away Monday December 12, 2011 at 2:26pm at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  He was born May 11, 1938 in Stonington, IL to Earl and Ruth (Miller) Coffey.  He married Barbara Anne Helmers on Dec 10, 1957 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL.  She preceded him in death on November 19, 2009.  He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor.  He was also a sports enthusiast.  He Especially loved basketball and he enjoyed watching the Fighting Illini during winning seasons. He was a avid fan of the Lady Terriers and Lady Tornadoes.  He and friend Dick could be seen at all the games and their encouraging comments, coaching tips and officiating assistance could be heard from the stands.. Chuck loved cruises with his friends and trips to the beach with family.  He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grand children.  He was loved by his family for his strong guidance and words of wisdom.

He is survived by sons, Michael (Angie) Coffey of Peculiar, MO and Mark (Companion Tammy Scott) Coffey of Taylorville, IL.  Daughters, Cheryl (Steve) McMahon, Carole (Mark) Harrison,  Lisa (Andy) Daykin and Lori Burdzilauskas all of Taylorville, IL. Sisters, Leah (Vernon) Bailey of TEXAS, Elsie (Bob) Creson of NE, Mary Lunsford of Stonington, IL. Brothers, Gene (Sally) Coffey of Warner Robbins, GA and Merle (Rita) Coffey of Greenville, IL.  Grandchildren, Todd (Wendy) Brookens, Nichole Coffey, Shauna (Tre) Nash, Abby (Ben) Briggs of Stonington, IL, Coral, Jordan, Ivory and Madi Harrison, Alyssa and Alex Daykin, Chauntae (Chuck) Stubbs and Jeff (Companion Lexi Haines) Burdzilauskas all of Taylorville, Chad (Tiffany) Vingst and Wes Verdeyn both of Aledo, IL, Jerome Verdeyn of Watson, IL and Mikhail Coffey of Taylorville and Paige (Justin)Carle, LA, Stacie and Bobby Scott of Taylorville, IL.  29 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by parents, wife, Barbara; grandson Jack Harrison; Brothers Harold and Tom Coffey

Rita Standage of Springfield

Rita Standage, 68, of Springfield, IL  formerly of Taylorville, passed away on December 6, 2011 at the Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.  She was born on August 28, 1943 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Frank and Audrey (Hargis) Rine. She was married to Kenny Standage; he preceded her in death.  She was a school bus driver and a school aide. Rita was a member of the Church of God in Springfield.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by parents, husband, brother, Kenneth Rine and sister-in-law Mariyn Rine.

Billy Bob McCormick of Taylorville

Billy Bob McCormick, 79, passed away December 3, 2011 @ 2:24pm at the Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL.  He was born on March 24, 1932 in Herrin, IL.  The son of Fred and Reba (Righnowar) McCormick.  He was married to Joan Traughber on October 28, 1997 in Decatur, IL.  He is a retired machinist from Caterpillar Tractor Company.  He was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and he was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 4495 in Taylorville.

He is survived by wife, Joan; brother, Danny (Raelyn) McCormick of Groveland, IL.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma & Harold Allison of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy & Lester Fabicheski of Taylorville, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00am Wednesday December 7, 2011 at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, Il.  Funeral Services will be at 11:00am Wednesday December 7, 2011 at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, Il with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Internment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville Il with Military Graveside rites.

Wayne K Johnson of Taylorville

Wayne K Johnson, 82, of Taylorville died on December 2, 2011 at 12:07pm at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born July 7, 1929 in Nokomis, IL. the son of Henry and Ruth Buse Johnson. He married Mary L. Wright in Austin, TX June 17, 1951. He was a retired barber, a veteran of the US Air Force, and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville. He is survived by his wife, Mary, brothers: Orville (Dorothy) Johnson of Nokomis, and Ronald Lolita Johnson of Arlington, TX, sister-in-law: Helen (Robert) Brown of Taylorville, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eldon Johnson. Visitation will be Monday, December 5, 2011 from 6-8pm at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Neal Robert Austin of Taylorville

Neal Robert Austin, 78, of Taylorville, IL died on November 30, 2011 at 10:10am at the Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL.  He was born September 12, 1933 in Metropolis, IL.  son of Kes And Bertha (Hale) Austin.  He married Judy Moore on October 13, 1962 in Golconda, IL.  He was retired from Commonwealth Edison in mechanical Maintenance.  He graduate from Metropolis High School and attended Parsons College in Iowa; soon after he was drafted in to the U.S Army where he served in Fontainebleau, France.  He was an avid golfer for many years, a member of the VFW, Post # 4495, and the First united Methodist Church in Taylorville.

He is survived by wife, Judy; son, Doug (Najela)Austin of Chantilly, VA; Grandsons, Paul, John and Daniel Austin; brother, Charles (Barbara) Austin of Metroplis, IL; sisters, twin sister, Roberta Dillow and sister, Helen Wilkens both of Metroplis, IL. and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents, son, Matthew Austin, Brother, Herbert Austin, Sister Clara Evans.

Visitation will be Sunday December 4, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL.  Private Family Services will be Monday December 5, 2011 with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.
