Wilma June Joyce of Witt

Wilma June Joyce, 80, of Witt, IL, passed away October 30, 2011 at 2:20 a.m. at her residence in Witt, IL.  She was born June 20, 1931 in Rural Witt, IL on her home place, the daughter of  Walter and Etta V. Jurgene Wittnam.  She married Harry Wilson Joyce on September 2, 1950 in Hillsboro, IL and preceded on May 8, 2005.  She was retired from Security National Bank of Witt, IL.  She graduated from Witt High School.  She was a member of Witt Presbyterian Church, Prime timer, several birthday clubs.

She is survived by daughters, Yvonne (Jim) Messmore of Witt, IL; Melba (Kenny) German of Nokomis, IL; Mary Jo (Phil) Moore of Witt, IL.; sons, Dale (Rhonda) Joyce of Witt, IL, Tom (Kathy) Joyce of Irving, IL; Lee (Tami) Joyce of Irving, IL; Hal (Kristy) Joyce of Witt, IL; Son-in-law Chuck Golitko of Witt, IL; sister, Donna (Robert) Borton of Witt, IL; Sister-in-law, Pauline White of Walshville, IL; Nadine Wolf of Staunton, IL. and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by parents, husband and daughter Delores Golitko.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 11:00am at Sutton Funeral Home, Nokomis, IL with Rev. James Howie officiating.  Burial will be at Glendale Cemetary, Fillmore, IL.  Visitation will be Tuesday November 1, 2011 from 4:00-8:00pm at Sutton Funeral Home, Nokomis, IL.

Mackenzie Renee (Kenzie) Moreland of Taylorville

Mackenzie Renee (Kenzie) Moreland, 14, of Taylorville passed away October 29, 2011 at 8:30am at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born June 29, 1997, the daughter of Ronald and Erika Sidener Moreland. She was member of: the cheerleading squad for Edinburg High School, South Fork Christian Church, Rochester, student council, Edinburg FFA Chapter, and Power Plus Tumbling. She loved shopping with her sister Dariess, riding ATVs, being with friends. Her loving smile will be missed by all.

She is survived by parents,  sister Dariess Moreland of Taylorville, grandparents: Ron and Sandra Moreland of Taylorville, Jerry and Tammy Sidener of Springfield, great grandmother Lorene Brown of Milberry Grove, IL, Aunts/Uncles: Bobby (Sue) Davis of Edinburg, Stephanie (Rodney) Gatton of Kincaid, Sue Miur of Millbrook, IL, Jim (Penny) Beck of Evergreen, CO, Nina (Max) Branum of Edinburg, cousins: Jeremy Davis, Brad Wagahoff, Jared Davis, Katie Vocal, Andrew Gatton, Rodney (Katie) Gatton, William Gatton, Matt (Jenny) Branun, Nicole (Jason) Moore. Darlene D. (Daughterty) Walker of Sylvania, OH

Darlene D. (Daugherty) Walker, 92, of Sylvania, OH (formerly of Springfield, IL) passed away October 23, 2011 @ 12:45pm at Kingston of Sylvania, Sylvania, OH.  She was born July 2, 1919, in Kincaid, IL, the daughter of Chester and Rose (Dilbeck) Daugherty.  She married Charles Frank Walker on June 19, 1949 in Springfield, IL.  He preceded her on May 8, 2011.  She was an Administrative Asst for the State of Illinois. She retired on July 1, 1984.  She was a graduate of Taylorville High School (first class from Taylorville High School on Springfield Road).  She attended Illinois State University and graduated from Lincoln Land Community College in 1970.  She was a member of the Mothers of Twins Club and was a member of the First Christan Church of Springfield for over 30 years, where she taught Sunday School.  Preceded in death by parents, husband, granddaughter; Melinda Mussman, six brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by daughters, Kim(Mike) Mussman of Avon Lake, OH and Kay Foster of Springfield, IL; Brother, Jim Daugherty of Taylorville, IL; Sister, Kate Oseland of Teutopolis, IL; Grandchildren, Greg (Julie) Mussman of Agon Lake, OH; Tamara (Ben) Kranz of Westerville, OH; Tina (Jim) Buck of Westerville, OH; Charles B. Foster III of Springfield, IL. and Michael Foster of Springfield, IL.; Great-Grandchildren, Gianna and Michael Mussman; Ethan, Austin and Kranz and Gregory Buck.

Sharon Marie (Alvey) Allen of Springfield

Sharon Marie (Alvey) Allen, 67, of Springfield, IL., passed away Thursday October 20, 2011 at 8:06am at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.  She was the daughter of Clarence and Emma (D'Vorak) Foor.  She was married to Charles Alvey; he preceded her in death on October 19, 1988.  Then she was married to James Allen on November 1, 2006 in Springfield.  She was a retired sales lady for Bergner's Dept Store in Springfield, IL and formerly owner of Sunkist Cleaners in Taylorville, IL.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband James; Son, Doug Alvey of Taylorville, IL.; Step-sons, Chuck Alvey Jr and Scott Alvey both of Taylorville, IL.; Daughters, Robin (Michael) Parker of Taylorville, IL; Step-daughters, Amy Brewer and Angela Allen both of Springfield, IL and Linda Hooper of TN. Brothers, Don (Pat) Foor, Robert (Janelle) Foor and John Foor all of Taylorville,IL; Sister, Sandy(Chuck) Warren of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren, Adam Parker & Autumn Parker and several Step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00pm Monday October 24, 2011 at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL. with Pastor Rex Crossland officiating. Visistation will be from 5:00pm to 7pm Monday October 24, 2011 at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.  Inurnment will be at a later date.

Lucille Zeigler Frisina of Taylorville

Lucille Zeigler Frisina, 99 of Taylorville died at 2:30 pm Thursday, October 13, 2011 at her residence.  She was born August 24, 1912 in Buckhart Township, the daughter of Louis W. and Carrie Lockwood Zeigler.  At the age of 5 she and her family moved to Taylorville.  She graduated with the Class of 1930 from Taylorville High School.  On June 9, 1930 she married James Frisina, Sr in Taylorville.  Lucille was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville.  She had a lifelong love of travel.

Surviving are her sons: James (Marcia) Frisina Jr of Diamond Head, Mississippi; Robert (Fran) Frisina of Taylorville.  5 grandchildren; Kelly (Dennis) Bland, Kate (Jack) White, Clark (Lee) Frisina, Cynthia (Peter) Gray, and Scott Frisina.  There are 7 Great Grandchildren.  She is survived by a niece Elaine Dunn and a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Bell.  Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Floy Ziegler Richmond.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Monday October 24, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville with Pastor Bob Spurgin officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service in the church.

Marjorie Mae Peg Beaty of Taylorville

Marjorie Mae "Peg" Beaty, 80, of Taylorville, passed away Tuesday October 18, 2011 at 1:30pm at the Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL.  She was born March 4, 1931 in Taylorville, IL., to B.K. & Mary (Hawkins) Beaty.  She was a retired cook for the Taylorville Care Center.  She was a high school graduate and a member of the First Church of  the Nazarene in Taylorville, IL.

She is survived by brother, Bill Beaty of Midlothian, IL; Sister, Martha (Frank) Marsaglia of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers; Bob, Bryan and Lyle Beaty and a baby sister.

Graveside Rites will be held at 10:00am Friday October 21, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL with Rev Douglas Haynes officiating.

Ruth Lea Brown of Taylorville

Ruth Lea Brown, 81 of Taylorville, IL passed away October 17, 2011 at 2:45pm at the Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.  She was born May 7, 1930 in Blue Mound, IL., the daughter of Dewey and Hattie (Fleming) Perrine.  She married Robert E. Brown Sr. on January 11, 1948 in Taylorville, IL.  She was a retired housekeeper, homemaker and Bus Aide.

She is survived by husband, Robert; Son, Robert (Kim) Brown Jr. of Stonington, IL.; Daughters, Mary (Walter) Ratts of Caryle, IL and Joann (George) Lumb of Taylorville, IL, Sisters, Wanda Best of Taylorville, IL and Eunice (Dean) Gensler of Tuscola, IL; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

There will be no service or visitation and Inurnment will be at a later date.

Thomas F. Shake of Taylorville

Thomas F. Shake, 78, of Taylorville, passed away October 13, 2011 at 9:20am at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville.  He was born January 19, 1933 in Taylorville, Il., the son of John B. & Hazel (Brown) Shake.  He married Rosalie L. Sautelet in April, 1959 in Lovington.  He was a welder for Allis Chalmers, Fiat Allis and Precision Products. 

He is survived by his wife; son, Michael C. (Marti) Shake of Sturgis, MI; daughters, Elisa "Susie" (Charles) Noren of Taylorville and Raquel Brewer of Decatur; brother, Robert C. Shake of Taylorville; sister, Bettie Trimble of Blue Mound and 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth Shake, William Shake, Eddie Shake, Jack Shake; sisters Mary Mahon, Hazel Baumgardener, and granddaughter Marissa A. Shake.

Private family services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 3:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Betty Coffey officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00pm, Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

John Ronald Neal of Taylorville

John Ronald Neal, 76, Taylorville, passed away October 11, 2011 at 2:50pm at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  He was born August 22, 1935 in Clarksdale, Il., the son of John W. and Ruth (Curvey) Neal.  He worked for MCDonald Grain Elevator and Curtis Moving Co.  He was a member of Pentecostal Life Tabernacle Church in Taylorville.

He is survived by brothers, Glen (Janis) Neal of Taylorville, Larry (Crystal) Neal SR. of Pana; sister, Karen (Marvin) Brune of Taylorville; Aunt Lucy Lass of Taylorville, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Neal.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:00am in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating.  Burial will be in Harvel Cemetery, Harvel, Il.  Visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2011 from 6:00-8:00pm at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Patricia Lorraine Emmerling of Taylorville

Patricia Lorraine Emmerling, 77, passed away on October 10, 2011 at 11:16pm at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL.  She was born November 17, 1933 in Taylorville, IL., the daughter of Hershel and Stella(Dowdy) Sparling.  She married Herman George "Mick" Emmerling on March 14, 1952 in Taylorville, IL.  She was employed at the St. Vincent Memorial Hospital as the Vice-President in charge of Staff.  She was a lifelong resident of Taylorville and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Taylorville.  She was the treasurer for the Taylorville High School Class of '51.

She is survived by daughter, Pamela (Lyndon) McConnell of Taylorville, IL, sisters; Diane (Joe) Champley of Taylorville and Linda (Thomas) Marini of Dixon, IL. aunts and uncles; Uncle Bill Dowdy of Kentucky, Aunt Helen Johnson, Aunt Betty Sikes, Uncle Berlin and Aunt Catherine Sparling all of Taylorville, IL. Several Grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by parents, husband: Herman George "Mick" Emmerling, daughter: Barbara Leanne Emmerling and son; Ricky Evan Emmerling.

James William Jones of Taylorville

James William Jones, 85, of Taylorville died at 12:10am Saturday, October 08, 2011 at Prairie Rose Care Center, Pana. He was born October 2, 1926 in Clinton, IN, the son of Benjamin B. and Vivian Hardy Jones. On September 15, 1949 he married Gloria Darline Smith at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville. Mr. Jones served in both WWII and the Korean War with the rank of Fire Controlman 3C. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, 55 year member and Past Master of Mound Lodge #122 A.F.&A.M.; member and Past Worthy Patron of Haselmere Chapter #122 O.E.S.; Ansar Shrine, Valley of Danville Consistory; member and Past President of Christian County Shrine Club; and 60 year member of V.F.W. Post 4495. He retired in January 1991 after 38 years of service with Illinois Consolidated Telephone Co., Contel, and Harris-McBurney. Jim had been instrumental in securing a physician and medical building in West Salem, IL in 1984. He was named Mayor of West Salem to fulfill a term vacated by the elected official.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Jones of Taylorville, Daughter, Jamie Sue Trout of Kincaid, daughter-in-law: Laura Jones of Effingham. 5 Grandchildren: Michael Jones and wife Amanda of Camargo, Toby Lynn Jones and companion Leroy Osteen, Sr. of Decatur, Jedd James Jones of Pawnee, Tymber Beard and husband Dalyn of Claremont, and Casey Trout of Ingraham. 9 Grandchildren: Ricki Jones, Jordan Jones, Courtney Morris, Jacob Jones, Payton Osteen, Regan Osteen, Leroy Osteen, Jr., Ayden Beard, and Jameson Jones, Brother, Ben Jones and sister Rosemary DeVore.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday, October 10, 2011 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of service in the funeral Home.

Betty Jane Waterman of Taylorville

Betty Jane Waterman, 86, of Taylorville passed away at 2:30pm Thursday, Octobter 6, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born July 25, 1925 in Taylorville, the youngest child of Royal Mason and Edna Molly Pope Kennedy. She married Lt. Col. Benjamin Davis Waterman on February 2, 1946 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2000.

Betty graduated from Taylorville High School in 1943. In her younger years she was an avid equestrian. Betty was a 27 year military spouse veteran that proudly supported her career Army husband and family through various overseas and stateside assignments and deployments. She enjoyed the Army life and was gregariously involved in spouse activities from bowling to fashion shows. She always made lifelong friends wherever she served. In her later years she enjoyed attending The First United Methodist Church of Taylorville. She was an accomplished seamstress and talented artist, creating various watercolor and pencil works of art. 

Survived are her daughters: Rebecca Lee (Ret. MSG David) Passoni of Taylorville and Frances Ann (Col. Everett) McDaniel of Japan. Grandchildren: Timothy Passoni of Normal, Carmen (Justin) Heberling of Taylorville, Robert Waterman of Pana, Carrie (Nicholas) Bennison of Pana, Nicholas (Rachel) Waterman, of Tower hill, Rachel McDaniel of Columbia, MO and AF Cadet Mason McDaniel of Colorado Springs, CO. 12 Great Grandchildren. Brother: Eugene Kennedy and Sister: Henrietta Barnes both of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Benjamin Kennedy Waterman, daughter, Jennifer K Waterman, and brothers: Buster Kennedy and Samuel Kennedy.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:30am Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Taylorville. Memorial Services will be held at 11:30am at the Church with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Keith H. Crowe of Taylorville

Keith H. Crowe, 71, of Taylorville, passed away October 3, 2011 @ 2:30pm at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL.  He was born September 14, 1940 in Adrian, PA.  He married Nancy E. Thompson on October 19, 1961 in the Christian Church at State College, PA. He worked at a minister, traveling evangelist, He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; Daughters, Debra (Bob) Williams of Union, OH and Denece (Thom) Dodson of Montrose, CO.; Brothers, Enos (Flora) Crowe of Brockway, PA and Daniel (Cindy) Crowe of Middleton, PA.; Mother-in-law, Esther Thompson (Lloyd Hill) of Prescott Valley, AZ. 5 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents, Brother: Richard Thomas Crowe

Zella Vivian Harris of Taylorville

Zella Vivian Harris. 94, of Taylorville, passed away October 2, 2011 at 3:45pm at the Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL.  She was Born September 17, 1917 in Glezen, IN, the daughter of John and Anna (Dorsett) Loveless.   She married Charles W. (Jack) Harris September 17, 1953 in Princeton, NJ.  She was an Avon Representative and owned and operated restaurants in Edinburg, IL and Princeton, IN.  She was a charter member of the Taylorville Christian Church.  Christian County Senior Citizen.

She is survived by husband Charles (Jack) Harris; Son Jack Warner (Peggy) Harris of Belleville, IL; Grandchildren 11, Great-Grandchildren 23; several Great Great Grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by parents, son John Wesley Jordan, Daughter Clara Ann (Jordan) Small and four brothers.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 5, 2011 at the Taylorville Christian Church, Taylorville, IL.  The body will lay in state at the church from 10:00am to 11:00am with the funeral services at 11:00am with Rev Dick Wamsley officiating.  Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville, IL.  Visitation will be Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 5pm to 8pm at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL.
