Ralph Beamer

Ralph Wayne Beamer, 86 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 7:49 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. Ralph was born on September 4, 1934 in Kincaid, IL the son of Wayne and Luella (Himstedt) Beamer. He married Betty Bangert in 1965 in Taylorville, and they were happily married for 45 years. 
He is survived by his Children: Brian Beamer (Wife Marlena) of Riverview, FL and Julie Pfeifer (Husband Brian) of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Claire Pfeifer, Isabel Beamer and Alex Beamer; Brother: Charles Beamer (Wife Diane) and Special friend Rose Bell. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty and Brothers Glenn and Marvin.
Ralph graduated from Taylorville High School in 1952 and served in the Army from 1955-1957, including a year in Germany, He spent most of his career banking, retiring from First Trust Bank in Taylorville in 1995. Ralph was a lifelong member of Davis Memorial Christian Church, serving in many ways, including as a deacon and elder. He loved everything related to cars and trucks, could fix anything, and was always willing to help out friends and neighbors. He was a kind, gentle man of endless patience and a tremendous example of devotion and unconditional love to his family.  
Private family graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating and military graveside honors.

Mary Millman

Mary L. Millman, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:25 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born on May 16, 1932 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Julian and Vivian (Rine) Sautelet. She Married Robert “Bob” Millman on October 28, 1950 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2012.
She is survived by her Sisters: Nancy Sautelet of St. Peters, MO; Janet Chamness of Taylorville, IL; Joyce Snyder of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Keith Sautlet and Sister: Julia Eloise Stephens. 
Private family services will be held at a later date with Douglas Chamness officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville, IL.

Cleo Thacker

Cleo (Smith) Thacker, 88 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 5:15 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born on September 27, 1932 in Palmer, IL the daughter of Louis and Eva (Durbin) Smith. She Married Richard Thacker on February 19, 1951 in Corinth, MS and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2011. She worked many years in retail and a book keeper at the Breeze Courier in Taylorville.  She was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville and she loved to travel with her sisters. She was an avid fisherman and made wonderful Christmas candy that she loved to share it with her family and friends.
She is survived by her Sons: Terry (Theda) Thacker of Leesburg, GA; Gene (Kathie) Thacker of Charleston, IL; Grandchildren: Robbie (Steve) Harbour of Taylorville, IL; Terra Thacker of Albany, GA; Bill (Missey) Pierson of Charleston, IL; Jim (Krista) Pierson of Charleston, IL; Twelve Great-Grandchildren; Two Great-Great-Grandchildren; sisters-in-Law: Lorrie Nation of Taylorville, IL; Sandy (Jim) Gibson of Taylorville, IL; Brothers-in Law: Robert (Margaret) Thacker of St. Petersburg, FL; John Young of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Vivian Bergschneider; brother: James L. Smith; sister-in-law: Donna Thacker-Watkins, Shirley Young; 8 aunts and 8 uncles. 
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville. Memorial Service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville with Pastor James Jones officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

James J. "Mr. D" Dennis

James J. “Mr D” Dennis, 89 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:50am on Friday, Nov 20, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  He was born on Nov 6, 1931 in Bloomington, the son of Harry and Mary (Wall) Dennis.  James graduated from Trinity High School in 1950. He served in the Army National Guard and was on active duty during the Korean Conflict.

On April 24, 1954 married his High School Sweet Heart Joan Walsh at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington IL and she preceded him in death on Nov 15th 1988.  

He graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education.  Jim worked for the JCPenney Co for 34 years and as Manager of the Taylorville Store for 25 years. He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, serving on the Finance Committee and assisting with the Annual Festival for many years.   He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus and Retired JCPenney Employee’s Club.

Proud of his Irish Heritage, on St Patrick’s Day, he dyed his hair green and served green donuts to customers, staff and friends and convinced the City Council to paint a green stripe around the Taylorville Square.

After retiring he loved to travel the US, Canada, Ireland, Italy and Greece. He was an active member of the Christmas Home Tour, and served on the Oak Hill Cemetery Committee for many years. He also worked at McClure Funeral Home.

He impacted and influenced the lives of all that he knew.  He will be forever remembered for his wit, humor, stories, and love of life.
He is survived by his children:

Daughters, Mary (Kevin) Simcox of West Des Moines IA, Erin Dennis (Mike Zagotta) of Taylorville, Theresa Dennis of Peoria IL. Sons, Steven (Shelly) Dennis of Taylorville, Mike Dennis of Swanton MD, Thom (Jeffrey Hadloc) Dennis of Galena IL, Dan (Cindy) Dennis, of Taylorville, David Dennis of Bloomington IL, Bob (Barbi) Dennis of Bloomington IL. Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Simcox, Sarah Zagotta, Ann Zagotta, Danielle Dennis, Meghan Dennis, Patrick Dennis, Sean Dennis. Siblings, William Dennis, Wilmington IL, Paulita Killian, Lexington IL, Tim Dennis, Lake Forest IL., and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Wife Joan, Brothers, John Dennis, Tom (Cathy) Dennis, Sisters, Mary Helen Goetsch, Christine Beebe.


A private family funeral mass will be held at 1pm on Wed, Nov 25th, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Following the mass Jim will be cremated and inurnment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL at a later date. Joanne Krug

Joanne B. Krug 74 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Joanne was born on August 26, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Nicholas and Florence (McClellan) Marolis. She married Robert Krug on July 2, 2003.  Joanne was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorville and volunteered at the Shadow Home and for Dinner Seasoned With Love.  She was a dedicated wife and mother and a friend to many.  

Joanne is survived by her husband; Robert Krug of Taylorville, Sons; Robert (Christine nee Turner) Rivecco and Michael (Tascha nee Brendum) Rivecco, Daughters; Theresa Lease and Melissa Krug, Ten Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren, Brothers, John Marolis and Michael Marolis and Sister; Marianne Dubberke. Preceding her in death are her parents, niece; Marianne Dubberke and Great Granddaughter; Natalie Manzanares.

Loretta Buckles

Loretta Mae Buckles, 84 of Owaneco, passed away at 4:18pm on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in her home.  She was born on May 2, 1936 in Taylorville, the daughter of Augustus “Gus” and Vallie (Robertson) Norris.  She married Richard K. Buckles on February 5, 1956 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2010.  Loretta graduated from Taylorville High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  She worked for many years in the Christian County Clerk’s Office.  Loretta had a true love for friendships.  From her morning coffee group to evening social time, she enjoyed every moment spent with her friends.  She was dedicated to her family whom she dearly loved.  She enjoyed cooking, especially for the Sunday meals with her family.  She also enjoyed the outdoors and flowers.
She is survived by her children: Dave Buckles (Debbie) of Owaneco and Kathy Goeckner (Bob) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Savannah Buckles, Michael Buckles, Abby Barlow (Clint), and Allyson Goeckner; and great grandchildren: Brystol and Braelyn Barlow.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings: Gale Norris, Blanche Pesek, and Melvin Norris.
A private family service will be held at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Cody Harrison

Cody Allen Harrison, 30, of Taylorville, passed away at 2:14 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at his residence.

Cody was born November 17, 1989, the son of Gina Mundhenke and Scott P. Harrison.  He graduated from Taylorville High School in 2008, and went on to receive his welding certification.  Cody worked for ADM, before gaining employment with Graphic Packaging in Shelbyville, where he was currently employed.  Cody lived for the gym and working out, but there was nothing he would rather do than spend time with his son.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Betty and Alfred Mundhenke; paternal grandfather, Thomas Harrison; and aunt, Patricia Smith.

Cody is survived by his son, Grayson Charlie Harrison and his mother, Amanda Emerson of Taylorville; mother and step-father, Gina and James Rogers of Taylorville; father, Scott Harrison of Taylorville; sister, Kristen Harrison of Taylorville; step-sisters, Angie Rogers and Heather Dobyns, both of Taylorville; paternal grandmother, Doris Harrison of Tayorville; aunts and uncles, Steve (wife, Lori) Harrison of Taylorville, Ron (wife, Julitta) Harrison of Taylorville, Dan Harrison of Missouri, Cindy (husband, Terry) Cowgill of Taylorville, Bruce (wife, Mary) Mundhenke of Taylorville, Randy (wife, Shari) Mundhenke of Taylorville, Brian Mundhenke of Taylorville, Joy (husband, Steve) Reller of Taylorville, Raymond Mundhenke of Springfield, and Rodney Mundhenke of Springfield; and several cousins.

Keith Shoemaker

Keith Eldon Shoemaker, 81 of Nokomis passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 9:50 a.m. at his home in Nokomis, IL. He was born on December 11, 1938 in Hillsboro, IL the son of James Robert and Juanita (Smith) Shoemaker. He Married Judith Ann Wright on May 18, 1963 in Nokomis, IL. Keith worked as a machine operator at Caterpillar Inc. He was a member of the Nokomis Sportsmen’s Club and the owner and operator of Shoemakers Shooters Supply. Keith Served in the United States Army where he was a rifle and pistol marksman and sharpshooter. He participated in Operation Big Lift in Germany for two months. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, trap shooting, aspirin shooting competitions, squirrel hunting, gun collecting and ammunition reloading. Keith loved playing poker with his friends and grandsons, teaching kids about hunting, fishing, shooting and gun safety; gardening, wine and beer making, playing washers and pool. He also loved watching wrestling with his grandsons.    
He is survived by his Wife: Judith Shoemaker of Nokomis; Daughters: Jodi (Jean) Applegate of Nokomis, Il; and Keri Shoemaker of Nokomis, IL; Honorary Son: Steve Cachera; Grandchildren: Colby James Applegate, Brenden Keith Applegate; Honorary Grandchildren: Becca and Lizzy Hill; Siblings: James Shoemaker, Barbara Pearson and Alwilta Pearson; Several Nieces and Nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Charles Shoemaker, Jerome Shoemaker, and Sister: Beverly Leigh.

Robert Protko

Robert E. Protko, 93 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 12:48 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on June 27, 1927 in Lovington, IL the son of Marko and Opal (Cook) Protko. He married Kathleen Cook on September 22, 1946. After she passed away, he married Norma Richardson on December 15, 1991. She preceded him in death in August of 2015. 
He is survived by his Sister, Sherry Morgan of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Gail Daniel (Jeffrey Brewer) of Taylorville, IL and Lea Ann Protko of Colorado Springs, CO. Step-siblings: Cheryl (Richard) Ogden of Ft Myers, FL; Carol (Larry) Bolyard of Decatur, IL; Darrel (Theresa) Richardson of Decatur, IL; and Scott (Laura) Johnson of Decatur, IL; and “Special” Nephew: Richard Skaggs of Seymour, IL. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, brothers Charles (Betty) Protko and Lindy Protko, and sisters: Bernice (Russell) Thompson, Madeline (Richard) Castetter, Phyllis (Herb) Vincent. Bob has several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-granchildren
Bob was a foreman at Fiat Allis in manufacturing engineering and equipment procurement. He later became a partner in Cimco Manufacturing and then established his own business, MP Tool Co. Bob was a lifelong Cardinals fan and loved sharing his opinion with others. His favorite activities were fishing and golfing from Canada to Florida and elsewhere. But what he loved most was sharing his life with family and friends and his dog pal, Rocco. 
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Christian County Animal Shelter (check to CCAC) or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ada Callan

Ada Jean Callan, 91 of Stonington, passed away at 11:35pm on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on January 20, 1929 in Decatur, the daughter of Harry and Corinne (Siehr) Garwood.  She married John James Callan on June 7, 1950 in Columbia, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on March 11, 2005.  Mrs. Callan was a very active part of the Callan family farm, assisting in all parts of the operation including the bookkeeping.  She received her associate degree from Columbia College.  She was a dedicated member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, serving in many roles including the Altar and Rosary Society, Parish Council President, and helping with the annual steak dinner.  She served as a 4H leader for several years.  Jean previously served as the President of the Illinois Angus Auxiliary.  She was very interested in genealogy, having documented the history of both the Callan and Garwood side of her family.  She was involved with the Christian County Genealogical Society where she helped with the persimmon festival and fundraising dinners. She also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and quilting, but more than anything she was dedicated to her family.  
She is survived by her children: Michael Callan (Marcia) of Stonington, Daniel Callan (Connie) of Stonington, William Callan (Cyndi) of Springfield, Joseph Callan of Assumption, Paul Callan (Stefani) of Assumption, Leo Callan of Escondido, California, Mary VanGeison of Stonington, Patricia Striplin of Stonington, Ann Averette of Taylorville, Susan Shivers (Kenny) of Taylorville, Rita Callan of Stonington, and Eileen Naughton (Frank) of Elk Grove Village; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and brother-in-law: James (Wilma) Callan of Monett, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Cathy Callan; grandson: Sam VanGeison; granddaughter: Kathryn Anderson; brother: Robert Garwood, wife Mildred; daughter-in-law: Linda Callan; and son-in-law: Bob Striplin.

Jane Springgate

Jane E. Springgate, 100, of Antioch, TN, formerly of Taylorville, passed away at 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Bethany Center in Nashville, TN.

Jane was born September 16, 1920 in Decatur, the daughter of George T. and Margaret (Pennington) Owens.  She married Robert Arthur Springgate on January 11, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on July 14, 2005.

Jane owned and operated the Springgate Pet Store for over 20 years with Bob.  She was a long-time member of the Fist Baptist Church in Taylorville, and she was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville.  When her daughters were young, Jane was an active Girl Scout Troop Leader, and she was active in PTA.  Jane was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society and Theos Organization.  She loved to knit and read, and she enjoyed the days she spent at the Sunny Day Club, participating in the various activities they offered.  Jane also loved going out lunch with her daughters.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Mary Curtis, Sarah Owens, Eugenia Owens, and Peggy Ziegler.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Seibel of Antioch, TN, and Debra Hawley of Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private family ceremonies will be held, followed by interment at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

Rudy Riva

Rudy Pete Riva 71 of Kincaid, IL went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Marilyn and son Tony on November 13th 2020 at 8:23pm at Memorial Hospital in Springfield IL with his two sons by his side. Rudy was born to John Pete Riva and Wreatha (Redfern) Riva on July 19th, 1949. He graduated high school from Kincaid, IL in 1967 and then went on to Grier Technical College in Chicago IL for Automotive Mechanics. He worked at Borg Warner as a mechanic and then started working at the Coal Mines as an electrician. He ended his career as an electrician with US Steel where he retired in 2015. As in much of his life, hard work was just his nature, so he began part time work driving for the Senior Citizens of Taylorville and mowing lawns for the city of Kincaid. He married the love of his life Marilyn (Emerson) Riva on October 25, 1968 in Edinburg, IL. They had three sons Rudy P Riva Sr, Tony L Riva and Erin P Riva.

Rudy is known most for his work ethic, family values, and lifelong friendships. He was talented in more ways than you could count, from having his own one man band, to being able to fix anything and everything. It was known by family if “Rudy can’t fix it no one can”. He never met a stranger and if he did they weren’t one for long, and most of the time they became lifelong friendships. There was never a moment he was not on the go and living life to its very fullest. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

He was preceded in death by his parents John P and Wreatha Riva of Kincaid, IL and his late loving wife of 43 years Marilyn Riva and his son Tony Riva.

He is survived by his eldest son Rudy P (Jennifer) Riva of Belleville, IL and his youngest son Erin P (Gina) Riva of Palm Coast, FL. Two Siblings sister Vicki (Don) Henley of Springfield, IL and brother Wesley (Sheila) Riva of Taylorville, IL. Five grandchildren Jeffrey and Nikole Riva of Belleville, IL, Alison Riva of Tovey, IL, Jordan (Anthony) Midgett and Jacob Smith of Palm Coast, FL and one great grandchild Remyngtin Riva Midgett of Palm Coast, FL. Sister in laws Dorothy (Harold) Emerson of Springfield, IL and Sharon (Rick Smith) of Taylorville, IL; Brother-in-Law: Ronald “Dale” Emerson of Canada. His companion Laura Agrippino, along with several nieces and nephews.

Thomas Lowry

Thomas L. Lowry, 79 of Taylorville, passed away at 12:12pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on April 26, 1941 in Peoria, the son of Thomas O. and Dorothy I. (Challacombe) Lowry.  He married Frances I. Dockstader on October 12, 1960 in Mansfield, Ohio.  Tom graduated from high school in 1958 in Brimfield, Illinois and attended business school in Mansfield Ohio.  In 1971 he opened the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Taylorville and operated it until his retirement in 2015.  Tom was known by everyone in the community for his dedication in running KFC.  He never knew a stranger and made everyone feel welcome.  He was a long-time member of the Board of Directors at the First National Bank in Taylorville, serving most recently as president of the board.  Especially in his retirement years, Tom loved using his tractor to help his neighborhood when the snow fell.  He was a dog lover, and had many faithful companions over the years.  More than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.  
He is survived by his wife: Frances Lowry of Taylorville; children: Cheryl Ashburn (Jeff) and Jerry Lowry (Diane) both of Taylorville; grandchildren: Joel Ashburn of Blue Mound and Anna and Jillian Lowry of Taylorville; and sister: Gloria Jean Cameron of Clinton.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dale 'Blunder' Simmons

Dale L. “Blunder” Simmons, 75 of Mt. Auburn, IL passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 10:04 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born one of six boys to Samuel & Estella (Parrish) Simmons on November 14, 1944 in Taylorville, IL. He served in the US Navy and later married Vicki Shartzer on June 5, 1985 in Benton, KY. Dale loved playing cards, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the VFW Post #4495 in Taylorville, Illiopolis American Legion and the NRA. The family requests that everyone dress in casual attire as this was Dale’s wish.
He is survived by his wife: Vicki. Daughter: Tammie Lutane of Decatur, IL, Grandchildren: Amber Ballinger and Cody (Brandy) Ballinger, Great-Grandchildren: Keegan, Korbin, Bentyn, Kinsley and one on the way, Mother-in-Law: Norma Shartzer, Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son: Ron Simmons, 3 brothers: Howard, Hershel and Earl Wayne.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.  p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery in Niantic, IL, with military graveside honors. Rest in Peace Blunder.

Patricia 'Pat' Trulock

Patricia “Pat” Trulock 80 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020. Pat was born on January 26, 1940 in Pekin Illinois. She was a graduate of Pekin High School and then attended Western Illinois University (WIU).  While at WIU she met and married her husband, Gray Trulock who preceded her in death.  Pat was a dedicated wife and mother. Additionally she was a past member of the Taylorville Unified School Board District.  Uniquely, she was a school board member at the same time with her husband Gary.  Pat also worked for many years at the Taylorville Hallmark Store. Pat was a long time member of the Taylorville Evangelical Church.   She enjoyed playing bridge and social activities with her dining club.  She had a great love of animals especially dogs, supporting kids and grandkids in music and sporting events.

Pat is survived by four children; Ric (Sherrell)Trulock of Braidwood Illinois, Scott (Teri) Trulock of Taylorville, Todd (Irma) Trulock of Eastvale California and Kristi (Scott) Bandy of Oro Valley Arizona.  Additionally she is survived by three grandchildren; Seth Trulock, Luke Trulock and Nicole Trulock.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Ruth Ryan

Ruth Marie Ryan died at age 85 November 9, 2020 in Denver, Colorado.  She was born in Mt. Auburn, Ill to Don and Dantzelle Williams Ryan on June 19, 1935.  
She had many fond memories growing up.  After their farm house was connected to electricity, her father asked her to turn the lights on for the first time.  Ruth loved to read and now she had light.
Ruth graduated from Marquette University as a Registered Nurse and went on to earn BSN and MSN degrees from the University of Iowa as a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist. She began working at the Illinois State Mental Hospital in 1956.  Later, she was a Nurse Specialist at the Iowa Psychopathic Hospital and a clinical instructor at the Mental Health University of Iowa. In 1974 she moved to Denver and was a clinical nurse specialist and associate director of nursing at Denver Health.
Ruth had a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for her community and Aurora became the focus.  In 1983, she joined the Aurora Mental Health Center as a volunteer and later served as president of the Board of Directors.  
Ruth was a leader in her community and enjoyed her involvement.  In Aurora, she was a Consortium member of Healthy Start Project, which provided services to newborn infants in North Aurora. She helped developed residential programs for people with mental illnesses who needed help transitioning from hospitals back into the community.
Ruth also had a crucial role in developing children’s mental health services. She also served many years on the Aurora Open Space Board and the Parks and Recreation Board.  In Sept 2012 she won the Aurora Circle of Life award for demonstrating outstanding community leadership hospice and making extraordinary contributions to the city of Aurora.
Ruth was known for her witty sense of humor, lover of mystery books and commitment to improving the quality of life for her community. She traveled widely and had favorite stories about trips to   Turkey and Russia.  
Life time friendships were important to Ruth and these included Sharon Shumway and Kay Gilchrist who shared many special times and spent the last days in home hospice with Ruth.
Preceding her in death were parents Don and Dantzelle Ryan, sisters Donna Patton and Betty Ryan, and a nephew Brad Patton.  She is survived by nieces Brenda Patton, Rhonda Hinton Davis, and Sheila Hinton Heinen and nephew Bryan Patton and great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Ruth will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Berea Cemetery, Niantic, Illinois.  CDC health guidelines will be followed including social distancing and the use of masks.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memories of Ruth, or condolences to her family, may be shared online at www.mcclurefuneralhome.com.  

Jacob Loman

Jacob Richard Loman, 32 of Springfield passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 5:32 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on April 29, 1988 in Springfield, IL the son of Mike and Cindy (Miller) Loman. Jake worked as the General Manager in the restaurant business.

 

He is survived by his Parents: Mike and Cindy (Miller) Loman; Daughter: Eva Rose Loman of Springfield, IL; Brother: Christopher Michael (Karena) Loman of Springfield, IL; Sisters: Brittney Leigh Loman of Taylorville, IL; Kailey Carolyn (Aaron) Copeland of Taylorville, IL; Grandmother: Edna Loman of Taylorville, IL; Nieces: Emercyn Copeland, Kimbrie Loman, Autumn Cole and Several Cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Louise Miller and Ernest J. Loman.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 10:00-12:15 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 12:15 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Father Anthony Swamey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
Memorials may be made to a Trust for his daughter Eva Loman at First National Bank in Taylorville.

Gail Doyle

Gail Doyle, 75 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 7:10 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. Gail was born on June 18, 1945 in LaCrosse, WI, the daughter of John W. and Evelyn (Wedeking) MacLaren. She married Thomas E. Doyle Jr. on October 9, 1981 in Taylorville. Gail graduated from Memorial High School in Eau Claire, WI and then attended University of Wisconsin at EauClaire earning a bachelor’s degree with majors in both English and Spanish. She later continued her at University of Illinois-Springfield (Formerly Sangamon State University) earning her education certificate. She also attended Illinois State University earning her Reading Specialist Certification. Gail taught in Taylorville at South, Memorial and North Elementary Schools as a Reading Specialist, retiring in 2012. Prior to entering the education field Gail was an advertising executive for first WTIM Radio and later for The Breeze Courier Newspaper. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include her husband, Tom of Taylorville; two sons: Sean Derrick (Carla) of Glen Carbon, IL; Steven Derrick (Marcy) of Russellville, AL; Grandchildren: Kiah, Tiana and Lakin Derrick of Russellville, AL; Sisters-in-Law: Mary Dettro and Nancy Doyle of Stonington, Marge Doyle of Chatham, and Ann (Tod) Anderson of Bloomington; Niece: Emily Dettro; Nephews: Doyle (Nnenna) Dettro and Thomas Anderson; great nieces and nephews: Gabby Tesat and Jack, Eva and Max Dettro. Gail was preceded in death by her parents.

 

It was Gail’s wishes to be cremated and services will be held at a later date.

Charles Ostermeier

Charles Shayne Ostermeier, 50, of Edinburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  He was born September 5, 1970 in Springfield, the son of Kenneth Ray and Millie M. (Christopher) Ostermeier.
Shayne graduated from Edinburg High School, and worked in several vocations during his life.  He was a devout Christian and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg, where he worked closely with Rev. Spilker.  Shayne deeply loved his family and God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Ostermeier; brother, Troy Allen Ostermeier; niece, Jade Marie Ostermeier; great niece, Alexis Marie Ostermeier; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Shayne is survived by his son, Luke Ostermeier of Terre Haute, IN; mother, Millie M. Christopher of Edinburg; brother, Lance Ostermeier of Edinburg; the mother of his son, Kelly Williamson and her son, Caden, both of Pawnee; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.  In following CDC guidelines, 25 guests will be allowed in the funeral home at a time, and the wearing of masks is recommended.

Rosemary Deiter

Rosemary Haywood Deiter, 91, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Taylorville, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
Rosemary was born April 14, 1929 in Taylorville, the daughter of Albert and Rachel (Hunt) Haywood.  She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1947.  Rosemary married Matthew Watchman, Jr. on December 18, 1965, and he preceded her in death March 1, 1968.  Later in life she married Robert M. Deiter on May 25, 1985 at the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, and they enjoyed 35 years of marriage.
In her younger years, Rosemary was a homemaker, staying home to manage the household and raise her daughters.  She then worked for the local telephone company and then St. Vincent’s Hospital as a switchboard operator.  Rosemary then went on to work for Dyke-Clarke Insurance Agency, before retiring from Continental Grain as Secretary to the Plant Manager.  She was a past-member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, and was a member of the Sewing Guild of America and the Red Hat Society.  In her youth, Rosemary loved roller skating, and she was always an avid cat lover, but she especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, often traveling long distances to attend their events and competitions.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wanda (Stumm) McGlauchlen; and brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Thelma Haywood.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Robert M. Deiter of Glen Carbon; daughter, Valerie (husband, Doug) Rodden of Troy; son-in-law, Kenneth (wife, Cindi) McGlauchlen of Lady Smith, WI; step-children, Linda Olsen of Taylorville, Kenneth Watchman of FL, Cindy (husband, Ray) South of Taylorville, Scott Deiter of Machesney Park, DeAnne (husband, Mike) Rogers of Plano, TX, Rhonda (husband, Gerald) Meinert of Freeport, Roberta Stogdill of Pompano Beach, FL, and Susan (husband, David) Edge of Rockford; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Arthur (wife, Elaine) Haywood of Port Orchard, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive guests from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Niaolvia Grace Thompson Pop went to be with Jesus on October 31, 2020 at 9:38 a.m. at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL. She was born on July 12, 1939 in Fayette County, IL to Elmer and Esther Thompson. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1957 and attended Lincoln Christian College. Niaolvia retired from the State of Illinois in Springfield. Niaolvia was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL. She resided at North Logan Health Care Center in Danville, IL.
She was the mother to Robin (Doug) Watkins of Carmi, IL; Timothy Opalka of Springfield, IL; Trista (Sam) DiVetta of Tucson, AZ; Tiffany (Chris) Pacino of Amarillo, TX; siblings: Nancy Crowe of Taylorville, IL; Judith (Dean) Huffman of Rowlett, TX; Carolyn Wands of Danville, IL; Leroy (Virginia) Thompson of Muskogee, OK and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Robert Opalka, Husband: Iggy Pop, and brothers-in-law: Keith Crowe and Gene A. Wands.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Cemetery in Brownstown, IL with Dr. Leroy Thompson officiating.
