Mabel (Moses) Carpenter Mower Baker, 95, of Galesburg, passed away at 12:31 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

She was born March 14, 1925, in Palmer, Illinois, one of 13 children of Guy and Nina (Ginger) Moses.  She married James “Ernie” Carpenter in February 1946, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death September 5, 1974.  She then married Howard E. Mower in November 1977, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death October 20, 1986.  She later married Fred Baker in February 1991 in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.  He preceded her in death July 12, 2006.

Mabel worked for the former Intra-State Telephone Company in Galesburg for 30 years.  She then was secretary/treasurer of United Beverage Company/Distillers and Brewers Distributors for 12 years.  She retired in 1990. She was raised and educated in Palmer and Taylorville, Illinois, graduating from Taylorville High School in 1942.  Mabel was a member of the Community of Christ in Galesburg and had been active with the Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Mabel honored family.  She was dedicated to keeping her family in touch with one another.  She hosted a number of trips with sisters, brothers, nieces and other family members.  She wrote a book about her life and sent a copy to family members to enable them to hold on to her family’s history.  She helped plan and organize the annual Moses Family Reunion up until the last few years and remained very close to her immediate family.  She is survived by a brother, Norman (Judy) Moses of Palmer, Illinois; a sister, Lila Brooner of Independence, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  

She is also survived by her step daughters, Ellen (John) Spittell of Galesburg and Deanna (Ron) Staake of Los Angeles, California; a step son, Steven (Namele) Baker of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; and five step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; brothers; Elmer, John, Gomer, LeRoy, Rex, Arnold, and Tom Moses; sisters, Maude Lambert, Clara Hill, and Vivian Oller; and a step son, Howard “Hod” Mower.

Due to social distancing limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, private family graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2020, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, where she will be laid to rest next to her first husband, Ernie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community of Christ of Galesburg or Taylorville or the National Railroad Hall of Fame.

Sandra Sue Fassero, 82, of Taylorville, passed away at 7:29 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center.

Sandy was born March 3, 1938 in Taylorville, the daughter of Jack and Geraldine (Fuller) Peters.  She married Donald “Nick” Fassero on December 15, 1956 in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on November 23, 1987.

Sandy graduated from Taylorville High School in 1956.  While in high school, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Ferry.  Sandy was a homemaker while raising her children, but later in life worked for the Hallmark Gift Shop and Annie’s at the Hickory Point Mall, as well as for Baskin Robbins as a cake decorator.  She was a long-time member of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she chaired the Christmas Bazaar for many years.  Sandy enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors, but she loved her time spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Ryan Fassero; step-father, Frank Sockel; and brother, Steve Sockel.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Leslie Staake of Taylorville; son, Mike (wife, Ronda) Fassero of Taylorville; grandchildren, Darrick (wife, Bonnie) Fleming of Taylorville, Mindy (husband, David) Hill of Taylorville, Colene (husband, Justin) German of Nokomis, and Allyson (husband, Todd) Diebold of Rochester; great grandchildren, Mazie and Lane Fleming, Payton Hill, Ryan and Emmy German, Eva and C.J. Hennings, and Maddy, Payton, and Amelie Diebold; siblings, Gary (wife, Janet) Sockel of Omaha, NE, Mark Stockel of Taylorville, and Nancy (husband, Duane) Meester of Omaha, NE; and several nieces and nephews.

Private family ceremonies will be held, followed by interment at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

Heather Vanessa (Phares) Mundhenke, 40 of Cantrall, IL formerly of Taylorville, IL passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at 11:03 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on December 14, 1979 in West Palm Beach, FL the daughter of John and Kim (Mansfield) Phares. She married Kevin Mundhenke on July 25, 2009 in Springfield, IL.  Heather worked as an accountant for Zumbahlen, Eyth, Surratt, Foote & Flynn LTD. Heather was active in academia, graduating from both Millikin University in Decatur, IL and Larson Educational Services in Fort Meyers, FL. Having many talents, Heather played for the varsity Softball and Basketball teams at Millikin, while earning a Bachelor’s Degree of Accounting and minoring in Dance & Theater.  It’s no doubt that her love for the arts led Heather to found and operate the Fredricks School of Fine Arts in Taylorville, IL. Heather taught young girls’ gymnastics and tumbling while operating the School, and also held colorful recitals each year.

 
Music became a large part of Heather’s life when she took her passion for art to the rock stage. Heather found immense joy in entertaining crowds and made a name for herself through her onstage presence in the bands Whiskey Medicine and Jack Flash. Although never playing in a band before, Heather kept fans engaged with her wide vocal range and signature costume changes. She performed under the stage name “Billie Daniels” and was passionate about music and singing even up until her passing. 

Heather enjoyed nature and more recently had a newfound love for gardening. She fully embraced “Country Livin’” and cherished living in her country home with Kevin and their farm cat, Queen Sheba. Under Heather’s direction, Sheba quickly became an indoor pet and beloved member of the family after appearing on their doorstep unannounced. 

Heather will be greatly missed by many. She had an unforgettable personality which will leave a lasting mark on the lives she touched forever. For many she was an entertainer, a professional, a role model, a fighter, an artist, and a fierce friend. Most importantly, the life of Heather Mundhenke is an inspiration, a reminder to always live passionately for what and who you love.

Ronald E. Cisco, 82 of Taylorville, passed away at 11:30p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2020 in his home.  He was born on November 30, 1937 in Springfield, the son of Jesse H. and Rosa (Russell) Cisco.  Ron married Janet L. McKee on June 20, 1959 in Springfield and was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.  Ron worked as a railroader for over 30 years for the Illinois Central and C & IM where he worked as a switchman, yard master, and trainmaster throughout his career.  He loved sports of all kinds, but especially the Cardinals and Illini.  He enjoyed bowling at North Lanes and working on stained glass projects.  Ron was a quiet man who was liked by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife: Janet Cisco of Taylorville; children: Ronald L. Cisco of Taylorville, Mark Cisco (Peggi) of Stonington, and Dawn Brown (Tommy) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Kirsten Sowers (Sean), Katie Brown (Nick), Noah Cisco (Alannah), Emmilia Cisco (fiancé Austin Vanderhule), Joshua Cisco (Stephanie), Kayleigh Cisco (John Whalen), Nicole Cisco, Brittny Rueff (William McWard), Megan Lopez (Nestor), and Courtney Rueff (Billy Esswein); 23 great grandchildren; siblings: Russell Cisco (Sylvia) of Mt. Olive, Geraldine Brown of Virden, Dale Cisco of Springfield, Anna Langley (Everett) of Springfield, Jacqueline Stade (Victor) of Hutchison, Kansas, and William Cisco of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren, a great grandchild, twin brother: Donald Cisco and wife Judy; brother-in-law: Virgil Brown; and sister-in-law: Beverly Cisco.

A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. Bill Kerns officiating.  A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

Charles W. “Bill” Jones Jr., 87 of Taylorville, formerly of Stonington, passed away at 10:25a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2020 in his home.   He was born on February 21, 1933 in Pawnee, the son of Charles W. and Mary (Harrison) Jones. Sr.  Bill married Agnes Elaine Graham on September 10, 1960 in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington.  He served the U.S. Navy for 20 years where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer.  Bill operated his own electrician service for many years.  No matter if it were electric work or carpentry, Bill was a true craftsman.  He was passionate about fixing things, and always made sure each project was done right.  Bill and Agnes loved camping and spent many winters in Texas.  

Bill is survived by his sons: Mark Jones and Eric Jones both of Taylorville; and grandchildren: Ryan Jones, Catherine Lagadia, Anna Jones, Carlos Jones, and Andrew Jones.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.  

Mr. Jones will be cremated, and a private family graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

LeRoy G. Moses, 100, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on April 15, 2020 at 11:10 PM. He was born on January 18, 1920, in Kincaid, IL, the son of Guy and Nina (Ginger) Moses. He married Rose Marie Sitki, on January 18, 1947, in Taylorville, IL.  She preceded him in death on January 3, 2007. LeRoy entered into Army Active Duty on January 16, 1942.  He was a proud World War II Veteran; serving as a Motorcyclist-Agent Messenger with the 3rd Armored Division in the invasion of Normandy, the Campaigns of Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Germany.  He was wounded on April 27, 1945.  He was a Purple Heart Recipient and received a Good Conduct Metal.  He was discharged on October 6, 1945. LeRoy was also a successful farmer, a master mechanic and owned and operated Moe’s Automotive in Glendale, AZ.   He was over 70 years of age when he retired for the last time, from the City of Phoenix – Encanto Golf Course, to provide full time care to his wife, Rose Marie. LeRoy enjoyed playing golf, was an excellent bowler and most recently enjoyed playing pool at the Billiards room in the community where he lived.  

LeRoy is survived by his daughter, Audrey Norris Anderson, of Peoria, AZ and his son, Gary (Cindy) Moses of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Jeff (Etsuko) Norris, Tammy (Clay) Schaefer, Jarrod (Jessica)Moses and Lindsey Moses; 5 great grandsons, Daniel Norris, David Norris, Christian (Katie) Ray, Josh (Alexa) Ray, Luke Schaefer and Rayner Moses; 2 great great grandsons, Bryson and Adam Ray; one brother, Norman (Judy) Moses and two sisters, Lila Brooner and Mabel Baker; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters and his wife, Rose Marie.

LeRoy will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL. on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 1 PM. Because of COVID-19, this will be a gravesite service only for immediate family.   Please join us in prayer from the safety of your home or car at that time. When it is safe for us to gather together, we plan to have a memorial service to say our final farewells to LeRoy, a member of the Greatest Generation!

William Howard Schroyer, 87 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:50p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on February 6, 1933 in Taylorville.  He married Virginia Lorraine Marr on April 20, 1957 in Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania and she preceded him in death on November 10, 2004.  Mr. Schroyer served in the United States Air Force for 21 years before retiring as a Staff Sergeant.  Following his time in the service, Bill worked several jobs including servicing vending machines for Canteen Vending Services, security guard at Allied Mills, and finally did lawn care for several years.  In his free time, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, doing crossword and word-search puzzles, and spending time with his dog Niko.  More than anything he loved his family and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

Mr. Schroyer is survived by his daughters: Theresa Mayes (Tim) and Cathy Mosely (Chris) both of Taylorville; grandchildren: Tammy Bowers (David), Timothy Mayes Jr. (Alicia), Aaron Buckler, Tiffany Mayes, Brandon Buckler (Melissa), Jacob Mosely (Lindsey), David Mosely (Kirsten Mollet), and Dalton King (Hannah); great grandchildren: Chloe, Timmy, Taylor, and Roy Mayes, David and Emma Bowers, Lilith and Ryhus Buckler, Macey Mosely, Amasa and Eleanor King; and several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred T and Mabel (Decker) Schroyer, wife: Virginia Schroyer, brothers: Herschel, Leo, Preston, Roscoe, Harold, Herbert, and Lester; and sister: Gladys Hanson.

Raymond Earl Wiseman Sr, 84, of Taylorville passed away peacefully, with family, after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 2:53 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on March 9, 1936 in Stonington, IL the son of Rayburn “Jack” Hogge and Louise Schubach Wiseman. He married Theresa Agnes Myerscough on July 6, 1957 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2016. Raymond was a retired inspector at Caterpillar. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.  Ray was quite the charming Renaissance man with an intelligence that made him a master of all trades.

He is survived by his daughters: Debbie Wiseman of Taylorville and Janice (Steve) Marvel of Waggoner; grandchildren: Carrie Rolofson, Kimberly White, Ana Wiseman, Julian Marvel, Ian Marvel; great-grandchildren: Kennedy White, Adelle Rolofson, and Fiona Deckard; Siblings: Phillip “Red” (Cubby) Wiseman, Patty McWard, Kenny Carl (Maggie) Wiseman, Josie Rodden, Jim Wiseman, Dick (Delores) Wiseman, Beulah (Tom) Paar, Tom (Linda) Wiseman, Tim and Dale Wiseman, Catherine (Lee Don) Vaughn, Jerry Hogge, Janice (Carl) Tucker, Marie Sheedy, Julitta (Ron) Harrison and Gina Carver. Keith Albert Helfer, age 85, of Taylorville, departed this life on April 13, 2020. Born in Taylor Springs, IL, on October 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Allie M. and Catherine Z. (Perrigo) Helfer. Keith attended Taylorville schools; he was in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 and served aboard the USS General A. E. Anderson, based in Guam. Keith was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, IL, and later at Freeman Crown Mine at Farmersville, IL. Keith enjoyed traveling. He was an avid sports fan, attending many area high school, U of I, and professional games. His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals. In retirement Keith was active with the Red Cross. He helped with food distribution in New York after the 9/11 attack, again in 2003 after Hurricane Isabel struck Virginia, and in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. Keith was a member of AMVETS and Tyrian Lodge #333 AF & AM, Springfield.  

Keith was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Erma Mundy.  He is survived by sisters Elaine (Thomas) Taylor, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Mary-Kay (Charles) Stanfield, Crete, IL; by stepchildren Lee Anne Kinsella, Brad Kinsella, Pat Kinsella, and Scott Kinsella. He is further survived by brother-in-law Gene Mundy, Phoenix, AZ; several nieces and nephews, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Keith’s many longtime friends for their concern and support during his treatment for cancer.

John A. Hough, 72 of Taylorville passed away at 7:16p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 28, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Howard and Helen (Williams) Hough. He married Kathleen Puglisi on November 18, 1968 in Oakland, Maryland. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and previously attended SIU Carbondale. He retired after many years of working as a route salesman for various companies. Pappy, as he was known by his family and many friends, will always be remembered as a people person. He loved working in the garden, tending to his crop of tomatoes and lettuce. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Steelers, Cardinals, and Blues. Fishing was his greatest pastime throughout the years. Above all, his family was the center of his life. His wife, kids and grandkids meant the world to him.  

John is survived by his wife: Kathi Hough of Taylorville; children: Trina Tullis (Brad) of Taylorville and Brandon “Chub” Hough (Holly) of St. Louis; grandchildren: Shelby Hough (fiancé Joey Wetstein), Jenny Tullis, and Jonathan Tullis; and brother: Hank Hough of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was born on June 3, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the son of Robert & Dolores (Moore) Jacobs. He married Lynda McCaleb on November 21, 1970 in Taylorville, IL. He was also an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Richard was a lifelong resident of Taylorville and retired in 2003 as a Systems Software Analyst from Ameren.  He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching varied sporting events, including women’s softball, bowling and the St. Louis Cardinals. His favorite pastime was golfing and if not out at Lakeshore Golf Course could be found traveling the country to play different courses. He marshalled several pro golf tournaments across the country. He enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, playing games with his family and was the go-to for treats for his great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Carrie Lorene Enlow, 87 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 6:23 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on September 30, 1932 in Tipton, IN the daughter of Albert Louis Williamson and Pansy Gail Enlow. She worked as a housekeeper. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, drawing, bingo and most of all she loved taking care of her cats.

She is survived by her half-sister: Thelma Jean Howard of Taylorville, IL and Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her Companion: George C. Durbin.

Mark Alfred Frisch, 66 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 1:55 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on January 9, 1954 in Bloomington, IL the son of Alfred J. and Oneida (Eads) Frisch. He married Betty Blake on May 6, 1981 in Taylorville, IL. Mark’s favorite job was as the produce manager for County Market in Taylorville; he worked numerous other jobs as well. He loved The Beatles, gardening, cooking, reading, nature, and making people laugh.

He is survived by his Wife: Betty Frisch of Taylorville, IL; Sons: Nathan A. (Christina) Frisch of Taylorville, IL; John W. Mollet II of Taylorville, IL; Grandson: Jace W. Mollet; Brother: Thomas Frisch of Decatur, IL; Sisters: Allida (Jim) Altemus of St. Peters, MO; Cathy (Mike) Smith of Carlsbad, CA; several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Michael Frisch.

Robert “Bob” DeClerck, 83 of Pana passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at Heritage Health, Pana. He was born April 11, 1936 in Assumption to the late Phillip & Mary (Schepman) DeClerck. He married Doris Bartow on July 2, 1954 and she preceded him on March 16, 2020.

Bob attended school in Assumption where he was raised then lived his adult life in the Pana area. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana and worked as a self-employed contractor/carpenter. He enjoyed boating, fishing, horseshoes, and playing cards and was said to have had a delightful sense of humor.

Bob is survived by his children: Debby (Eric) Jostes, Pana, IL, Brenda (Gary) Spurling, Taylorville, Kent (Debbie) DeClerck, Pana; grandchildren: Aaron (Laura) Jostes, Michael (Bobi Jo) Jostes, Philip (Samantha) Jostes, Tammy (Todd) Altman, Samuel (Kiernan) Spurling, Robert (Kara) Spurling, Amber (Grover) Green, Chrissy Horsthemke; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Ella, Kara, Lillian, Ethan, Kaley, Hailey, Xton, Ainsley, Lincoln; and siblings: Louie DeClerck, Moweaqua and Mary Kay Brown, Assumption. He was preceded by his parents and brothers: Clarence “Shorty” DeClerck, Raymond “Red” DeClerck, and Johnny DeClerck.

Per Bob’s wishes he has donated his body to science. A celebration of life service and burial will be held at a later date.

Lesila Kay Letz, 81, of Springfield passed away at 4:25p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on November 4, 1938 in rural Taylorville, the daughter of Leslie & Leila (Schoning) Dishon.  She married Sydney Letz Jr. on January 11, 1969 in Springfield.  Lesila previously worked for the Springfield Mass Transit District as a driver.  She was proud of her job and was the second woman ever hired by the district.  She enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting and leather work.  Hunting, especially for coyotes was also a pastime she enjoyed. She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.   
She is survived by her husband: Syd Letz Jr. of Springfield; daughter: Earlene Larson (Rick) of Springfield; son: Christopher Letz (Jackquline) of Springfield; step children: Sydney Letz III of Springfield, Robert Letz (Cindy) of Riverton, and Carlinda Yates of Springfield; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces; and brother: Minor Dishon of Neoga.  She was preceded in death by her parents; step son: Kevin Letz; and grandson: Dustin Dishon.

Sarah Nettie Thomas, 95, of Taylorville, passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Taylorville Care Center. Sarah was born October 15, 1924 in Christian County, the daughter of Francis Bela and Mary (Durbin) Durbin. She graduated from Taylorville High School, and worked for many years as a key punch operator for the State of Illinois. Sarah also worked for many years in housekeeping for St. Vincent’s Hospital.  

Sarah was always a church goer.  She cared deeply for others, and donated much of her time writing sermons that she used to minister to the elderly, in various retirement communities. Besides writing sermons, Sarah also enjoyed writing poetry and prose.  She loved picking berries, that she used to bake in pies, and she also loved a good game of Yahtzee, Chicago Cubs baseball, and quilting. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Reuben; sisters, Bernadine, Inez, and Anna; and daughter-in-law, Sharon (Stoneburner) Thomas.

Sarah is survived by her sons, Melvin (wife, Sue) Thomas, and Glen Thomas, both of Taylorville; daughters, Rae (husband, James) Dulakis of Morrisonville, and Sharon (husband, Maury) Goodman of Warrenville; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; brother, Dwight Durbin of Decatur; sister, Lillian Blessant of Taylorville; and many nieces and nephews.

Louetta Mae Dickerson, 103, of Taylorville, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon. Lou was born October 18, 1916 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of John and Ella (Woodward) Williams. She married Clay Dickerson on September 18, 1938 in Veedersburg, IN. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1991. Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, where she was a member of the Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Ansarettes and the Navy Mothers. Lou was blessed with good and kind friends. She enjoyed her crafts, sewing, reading, puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.

Lou was also preceded in death by her parents; sister; 2 brothers; and granddaughter, Dana Lynn Dickerson.

Juanita Mary Conyers, 94 of Taylorville, passed away at 3:41p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 25, 1925 in Boonville, Indiana, the daughter of Arley J. and Versia A. (Clark) Powers.  She married James W. Honea in 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas and he preceded her in death in 1980.  Juanita later married Harold A. Conyers on January 7, 1982 in Clovis, New Mexico and he preceded her in death in 2000.  

Juanita is survived by her children: Gary Honea (Nancy) of Petersburg, Bryon Honea of Illiopolis, and Timothy Honea (Teresa) of Petersburg, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and son-in-law: James Graham.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, daughter: Jennifer Graham, 2 brothers, 1 sister, granddaughter: Mary, and daughter-in-law: Tina Honea.

Mrs. Conyers will be cremated, and inurnment will take place in the Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview.

George (Alan) Franklin went to meet the Lord on April 5, 2020 at his home In Morrisonville, IL surrounded by family.
Alan was born May 27, 1942 in Taylorville, IL to parents, Galen and Ruth Franklin. He was raised on their farm and attended school in Morrisonville, IL.  Alan joined the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at Cannon AFB and served as a Chaplain’s Assistant in Vietnam.  After his time in active duty, Alan joined the 183d Air National Guard where he retired as a First Sergeant.  Upon returning from Vietnam, he attended Illinois State University, earning his B.S. in Agriculture with a teaching certificate. 

Alan and wife, Bonny (Leinen), were married on Aug 10, 1968, and celebrated 50 years of marriage.  They were a team--teachers, dancing partners and travelers; traveling across the U.S. and Europe. They lived on the Leinen Centennial Farm in Christian County all of their married life.  They were proud parents of Alana Sue Franklin and Alison (Ryan) Jacobs.  Alan boasted of attending so many school activities for his girls, and later school activities for his beloved grandchildren, Meana and Mason Jacobs. Alan loved horses and shared that love with his daughters and grandchildren.
Alan had many careers, each of which surrounded himself with family.  Whether farming with his brothers, selling insurance with his sister, or working at the Illinois State Fair with his daughters and nephew, Alan always committed himself and was a notorious hard worker. Alan eventually retired as a school teacher to become a full-time grandparent.  
Alan never met a stranger. He was an active member of his community and a member of the Morrisonville United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee.  He was a Shriner, Mason, and member of Eastern Star. He was part of the Morrisonville American Legion and VFW Post 755, where he coordinated weekly dances and a New Year’s Eve ball. Alan also served as a volunteer EMT in Morrisonville where he was able to continue to fulfill his need of selfless service. 

Alan is proceeded in death by his wife, parents and Sister Donna and Brother Richard.  He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, sisters- Cheri (Royce) VanGerpen, Shirley Jones, Brother Galen Lee (Elaine) Franklin and 20 nieces and nephews.

Private family graveside service and a celebration of life will be held at a future time.

Anna Mae “Mickey” Burke Denning, 88, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:22 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
 
Mickey was born March 26, 1932, in Taylorville.  She was a 1950 graduate of Taylorville High School.  She married Joseph “Pat” Denning on March 28, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville, where they were long-time members. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1988.
 
Mickey enjoyed the simple things in life, from cooking, gardening and doing puzzles to cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.  She gave back to her community by working for many years at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her family was her pride and joy. Heaven gained a true angel with Mickey’s passing. 
 
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Laura and Everett Burke, and siblings.
 
Mickey is survived by her children, Joseph (wife, Rhonda) Denning of Taylorville, and Susan  (husband, Andy) Lovekamp of Taylorville; grandchildren, Michael (wife, Trudy) Denning of Taylorville, Jeffrey Black of St. Louis, MO, Christopher (wife, Theresa) Black of Peoria, and Jacqueline (husband, Brian) Coss of Taylorville; and great grandchildren, Sam, Hayden, Joanne, Kathleen, Ben, Beau, and Shane.
 
Cremation will be accorded and no public ceremonies will be held.

Karen Sue (Wempen) Wayne, 71, of Hillsboro, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away at 12:08 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Karen was born November 19, 1948 in Litchfield, the daughter of Melvin and Shirley (Jones) Wempen, Sr.  She married Perry Wayne of Fillmore, and they later divorced.

Karen graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1966, and went on to earn her beautician’s license from Taylorville School of Cosmetology.  She owned and operated salons in Morrisonville, Taylorville, Hillsboro, and Irving.  Later in life, Karen worked for Alco, and eventually retired from Addus Healthcare.  She was a past member of the United Methodist Church of Morrisonville.  Karen enjoyed doing a variety of craft projects, and she also enjoyed flower arranging. 

Karen is survived by her parents, Shirley and Melvin Wempen, Sr. of Morrisonville; brothers, Melvin (wife, MaDonna) Wempen, Jr. of Raymond, and Kurt (wife, Janet) Wempen of Morrisonville; sister, Connie (husband, Jim) Young of New Windsor; 8 nieces; 1 nephew; and several cousins.

Private family ceremonies will be held with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating.

Interment will follow the ceremonies at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Litchfield.

John L. Blake Jr. of Nokomis, IL passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 4:33 a.m. at Pana Community Hospital in Pana, IL. He was born on July 17, 1967 in St. Louis, MO, the son of John L. and Wilma (Hazeltine) Blake Sr. John was a steel worker by trade.  He was a very caring and giving man who loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; Elizabeth of Nokomis, IL, son; Nick Blake of Highland, IL, daughter; Candis Blake of Gillespie, IL; grandchildren: Grace and Michael Blake and he was a loving neighbor, friend and brother-in-law.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Timothy C. Bedinger, 59 of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 9:45 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born on December 28, 1960 in Milligan, TN the son of James (Sara) Bedinger and Betty Reynolds (Ric Miles). Tim was the Vice President of Sales for Ultimate Highway Solutions.

He is survived by his wife; Lee Bedinger, Sons; Brad (Alycia) Bedinger, Stefan (Baylee) Bedinger, Bob Greene, Connor Klay, Jack Greene, Roman Rahar, Daughters; Lyndsey (Mitch) Ringler and Ella Greene, Grandchildren; Kelsey, AJ, Brody, Ella Rae, and Loralye. Tim is also survived by his brothers; James Bedinger, Matt Miles, Jim McAlpin and David McAlpin, and his sisters; Susan Fleming, Rene Chambliss, Jana Collison and Debi Walker.
