Judith M. Halcom

 

Judith M. Halcom, 78 of Taylorville passed away at 10:18 AM Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home.  She was born February 18, 1938 in Langleyville, IL daughter of Bernard and Juanita (Hawkins) Phillips.  She married Robert Halcom on September 5, 1968 in Jacksonville, IL and he preceded her in death.  She had been an Home Care Nurse for numerous years and was a member of Crossroads Apostolic Church in Taylorville.

 

Surviving are her daughters: Rebecca Turner and fiance’ Ron Beechler of Springfield, IL, Kathryn Ream of Gilman, IL and Sherri (Henry) Kay of Forrest, IL; son: Richard Huddlestun; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers: Danny (Barb) Phillips, David Phillips; sisters: Carol Kerwin, Rose Black and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother: James Phillips and nieces: Sarah and Sally.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 29, 2016 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Kenneth Morrel officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.  Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM until the time of services at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.

Glenda Faye Sikes

 

Glenda Faye Sikes, 81 of Taylorville, passed away at 11:56 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

 

Glenda was born on February 8, 1935 in Morrisonville, the daughter of Glenn and Gesine Jansen Vanzant. She married Ernie Sikes on June 6, 1952 in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2001. Glenda was a van driver for the Christian County Senior Center for over 30 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies’ aid and the choir. She had also served on the Christian County Mental Health Board. In her spare time, Glenda enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with her family & friends.

 

She is survived by her children: Judy (Darrell) Ross of Fillmore; Mike Sikes of Taylorville; Cindy (Lake Lattimore) Sikes of Urbana; grandchildren: Mary Kay Ley, Jennifer Ross, Zack Ross, Crystal Anderson, Lacy Rogers; great grandchildren: Tiffany Ley, Rachael Ley, Ally Phillips, Curtis Phillips, Tanner Ross, Teagann Ross, Trysten Anderson, Gideon Anderson, Sophie Rogers, Grace Rogers, Griffin Rogers, Addilyn Rogers; step-grandchildren: Cyndra Lattimore & Chaundra Lattimore; siblings: Bonnie (Frank) Hornbeck of Taylorville; Nila (Charlie) Koch of Huey; and Dwain (Debbie) Vanzant of Decatur.

 

Along with her husband, Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, daughters: Marcia G. Sikes-Wood, Juanita Gideon, and Janet Sikes, and Joyce Sikes in infancy, as well as one brother: Merle Vanzant.

 

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at McClure Funeral Home. Burial will take place in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Nokomis. Memorials may be made in her honor to: Trinity Lutheran Church, or Christian County Senior Citizens Center. McClure Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Priscilla M. Todt

 

Priscilla M. Todt, 77, of Taylorville, died at 8:55 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at St. Johns Hospital, Springfield. She was born on January 4, 1939, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin the daughter of Earl and Margaret (Detzel) Darrall.  She married Val Gontarek and they later divorced.  Priscilla them married James Bruce Todt and he preceded her in death.  Priscilla was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville.  She had retired from Taylorville Memorial Hospital where she worked in the accounting department.  She continued to stay active at the hospital as a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary for many years.  In her free time, she enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, and doing puzzles and crossword puzzles and spending time with her grand-dog “Shame”.

 

She is survived by her sons: Craig J. Gontarek of Taylorville and Gregory Gontarek of Elkhart; sister: Dotty (Jim) Last of Tampa, Florida; niece and nephews: Michael (Pam) Last, Pamela (Jerry) Napp, and Lawrence (Lou Ellen) Last. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce Todt and nephew: David Last.

 

A private memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating.  McClure Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. Paula S. Everett

 

Paula S. Everett, 65 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:37 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on October 20, 1950 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Curtis Wingo and Pauline (Smart) Myers. She married Delmar Everett on October 16, 1976 in Missouri and he later preceded her in death on January 18, 2010. Paula owned North Lanes Restaurant and she later worked as a homemaker. 

 

Surviving are her Daughters: Cheryl (Ron) Bond of Normal, IL; Becky (Phillip) Albert of Taylorville, IL; Cindy (Vinny) DeLaCruz of Taylorville, IL; Charlotte (Luis)  DeLaCruz of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Jordan, Brendan, Nicholas, Cory, Alexis, Anastasia, Kiley, Drake; Great-Grandchildren: Corbyn, Aurora and Dawson; Sisters: Karen Wingo, Kay Purkes, Betty McManus; Brothers: Keith Wingo, Terry Wingo. Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Grandson Devan Everett, Brothers Curtis Wingo, and Marven Wingo.

Gary J. Hammond

 

Gary J. Hammond, 68 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 7:10 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on May 3, 1948 in Farmington, MO the Son of Leeman and Margaret (Shy) Hammond. He married Brenda Booker on September 13, 1976 in Nashville, IL. He worked as a Bridge builder for Burlington Northern Rail road company and he retired from Precision products in Lincoln. Gary Served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 8 years.

 

Surviving are his Wife: Brenda Hammond of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Christina Taylor and Companion Randy Edgington of Ashley, IL; Grandchildren: Layssa Taylor of Morrisonville, IL; Lexi Taylor of Morrisonville, IL; Sisters: Karen (Gary) Yarbrough of Centralia, IL; Paula (Paul) Wells of St. Genevieve, MO; Angela Smith of Irvington, IL; Janet Hammond and companion Shawn Stokes of Richview, IL; Brothers: Roger Hammond of Taylorville, IL; Jerry (Tammie) Hammond of Mt. Donna J. Snyder

Donna J. Snyder, 74 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 2:38 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on October 25, 1941 in Springfield, IL the Daughter of Dewey and Clara Mae Frye. She married Jerry Snyder on November 28, 1959 in Mississippi. She worked as a homemaker.

 

Surviving are her Daughters: Vicki (Steve) Grundy of Morrisonville, IL; Vanessa Younker of Morton, IL; Grandchildren: Brandon Grundy, Katlyn Grundy, Claire Younker, Gabe Younker; Great Grandchildren: Kessa Stephens, Libby Stephens; Sister: Francis Minton of Armstrong, MO; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents and her two Sons Jeffrey Snyder and Steven Snyder.

Phyllis (Kaye) Yoder

 

Phyllis (Kaye) Yoder, 79 of Edinburg passed away at 5:25pm on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She was born on April 20, 1937 in Boody, the daughter of Dale and Violet Pistorius Bliler.  She married Howard M. Yoder on November 22, 1958 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.  Kaye graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing and worked as an RN prior to raising her children and farming with her husband.  She was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church and was an avid gardener, amazing cook, an animal lover, and enjoyed being a fan of the Illini.  Most of all, she loved caring for and spending time with her family, who will greatly miss her.

 

Along with her husband Howard, Kaye is survived by her children: Teresa (Kirt Laymon) Brockelsby of Edinburg; John (Sherry) Yoder of Blue Mound; Jeff (Kelly) Yoder of Edinburg; Paul (Dr. Angela) Yoder of Charleston; 10 grandchildren: Katie Brockelsby, Garrett Brockelsby, Aarika (B.J.) May, Julie Yoder, Dr. Monica (Kyle) Ryan, Kyle Yoder, Brian Yoder, Adam Yoder, Ella Yoder, Zachary Yoder; two great grandchildren: Jackson and Hannah May; sister-in-law: Elaine Bliler; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son: James Robert Yoder; her brother: Dr. Marion Bliler, and one son-in-law: Danny Brockelsby.

 

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Taylorville First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Burial will follow at Grove City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7pm Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in her memory to: First United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.

Sharon (Goodall) Long Yates

 

Sharon (Goodall) Long Yates, 73 of Jacksonville, IL passed away at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 8:40 pm with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 2, 1942 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Herman and Loretta (Vancil) Goodall.  She married Arthur “Jack” Long in Taylorville, IL on July 20, 1963 and they later divorced.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Beth (Brad) White of Jacksonville, IL; sons: Raymond (Misty) Long of Springfield, IL, Jeff Long of Jacksonville, IL; 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter; 2 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter; ; brother: Dave (Phyllis) Goodall of Taylorville, IL sister: Brenda (Lee) Lanzotti of Taylorville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Eric Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.  Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.

John R. Damarin

John R. Damarin, 91 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at  Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born on January 4, 1925 in Mt. Pulaski, IL the Son of Harry and Alene (Mayer) Damarin. He married Jessie Damarin and they were later divorced.  He worked as an IH Dealer in Taylorville for many years.

 

Surviving are his Daughter-in-Law: Diana Damarin of Taylorville, IL; Grandson: John David Damarin of Decatur, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Dillon, Gage, Gabrielle, Jayce and Jayger Damarin; Companion Donna Nichols of Taylorville, IL; Sister: Doris (Rich) Eide of Missouri; Nephew: Larry Damarin. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son: John Eldon Damarin, Brother: Virgil Damarin.

 

There will be no visitation and there will be a Graveside service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville, IL at a later date.

Richard E. Stuart

 

Richard E. Stuart, 80 of Mechanicsburg passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 2:46 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born March 17, 1936 in Bolivia, IL the Son of Raymond E. and Geraldine (Ealey) Stuart. He married Shirley Ann Ward on August 30, 1957 in Mt. Auburn and she later preceded him in death on October 5, 1985. He was a retired Carpenter for local 16 for 38 years.

 

Surviving are his Daughters: Debra Lehman of Decatur, IL; Sons: Richard L. (Jennifer) Stuart of Glenarm, IL; Daniel (Amy) Stuart of Edinburg, IL; Grandchildren: Joshua, Levi Lehman, Lindsey Newingham, Jacob L. Stuart, Jenni M. Stuart, Eden L. Richard Wayne "Bear" Hughes

 

Richard Wayne “Bear” Hughes, 67 of Taylorville passed away at 10:09A.M. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on June 13, 1949 in Taylorville, the son of Thomas J. and Beatrice M. Turpin Hughes.  Mr. Hughes proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Air Force.  He was a skilled mechanic and was passionate about working on cars and motorcycles.  Richard operated his own shop and was well known for his automotive repair skills.  He enjoyed traveling, karaoke, and spending time with his family. 

 

He is survived by his children: Shannon Hughes (Gustavo Navarro), Shawna Holsonback (John), and John Wayne Hughes all of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren: Halle C. Navarro, Kayla Holsonback, and Dylan Hughes; Sisters: Gloria Bobbie (Gill) of Plattsburg, New York, and Laura King (David) of Kincaid.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Bobby Schmelzer, and grandson: Tyler Hughes.

James Edward Boils

 

James Edward Boils, 73, of Taylorville, died at 3:57 a.m., Monday, July 4, 2016, at Meadow Manor Nursing Home.

 

James was born on April 20, 1943 in New Castle, IN, the son of Claude and Frances (Stroud) Boils. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Taylorville. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and watching the Cardinals play.

 

Surviving are his wife, Sandra (Mills) Boils of Taylorville, one son: Joseph Boils of Taylorville, and one granddaughter: Claudia Boils, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Wanda Locke, Eileen Thomas, and Jamie Craig, and nephew: Mike Locke.

Glenn Brown

 

Glenn Brown, 79 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 1:25 p.m. at Prarie Rose Health Care Center in Pana. He was born on December 13, 1936 in Moweaqua, IL the Son of Charles and Alice (Hays) Brown. He married Judy Tirey on July 10, 1963 in Taylorville, IL.  He worked for Don Wright Plumbing and heating in Moweaqua.

 

Surviving are his Wife: Judy Brown of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Amber Brown of Taylorville, IL, Tammy (Jeff) Chandler of Missouri; Sons: Billy Brown and Companion Veronica of Taylorville, IL, Derrick Brown of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Sierra Brown of Taylorville, IL; Jacklin Brown of Taylorville, IL; Alissa Brown of Taylorville, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Joseph Staab, Merdith Staab, Gabe Staab all of Missouri; Brother: James Brown; Nieces, Nephews and Cousins: Several. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Children Glenn Brown and Laurie K. Brown.

Kenneth C. Kettelkamp

 

Kenneth C. Kettelkamp, 79, of Nokomis, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 1:24 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born on October 19, 1932 in Nokomis, IL the Son of Edger and Freida (Schneider) Kettelkamp. He married Aleta L. Beaty on  March 4, 1962 at South Fork United Methodist Church in rural Nokomis. He was a retired prison Guard at Hillsboro Correctional center and a farmer. 

 

He is survived by his Wife: Aleta Kettelkamp of Nokomis, Son: Carl (Lori) Kettelkamp of Nokomis, IL; Alan (Lori) Kettelkamp of Norman, OK; David (Kiana) Kettelkamp of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren Leanne (Kyle) Gehrs, Amanda Kettelkamp, Britton Kettelkamp, Erica Kettelkamp, Destiny Kettelkamp, Chris Kettelkamp, Clayton Kettelkamp, Jay Kettelkamp, Oscar Kettelkamp, Sophia Kettelkamp, Marco and Susu; Great-grandchildren: Keegan and Brayson.
