Howard D. "Dale" LeVault

Howard D. “Dale” LeVault, 81, of Stonington passed away at 5:07 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 28, 1936 in Sesser, Illinois, the son of Gilbert H. and Nina M. (Eubanks) LeVault. He married Constance J. “Connie” Batty on April 5, 1958 in Stonington. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2017. Dale was an Army Veteran. He was a member of the Stonington First Baptist Church and the Stonington Masonic Lodge. Dale retired as a Vice President of the First National Bank in Springfield. Dale and Connie enjoyed traveling, eating out and listening to gospel music. He also enjoyed volunteering at the local food pantry.

He is survived by his sons: Kevin LeVault (Ann) and David LeVault all of Stonington, and Mark LeVault (Debra) of Edinburg; grandchildren: Tara Ramsey, James LeVault (Kelsey), John LeVault (Courtney), Tim LeVault, Ashley LeVault (Kenny Hughes), Ashley Ekiss (Ben Irwin), Lisa Tolbert (Nathan), Stephanie Rogahn (Atlee), Adam LeVault (Taylor), Andy LeVault (Brittany), Christy Gust (Brogan), Garrett LeVault (Emily), and Audrey LeVault; 12 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Martha Fowler (Larry) of Taylorville and Vivian Batty of Stonington; brother-in-law: Bernard May of LaGrange, Georgia; aunt: Pat Eubanks of Stonington; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Connie.

The funeral service for Dale will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the Stonington First Baptist Church with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 AM Thursday in the church. Burial will be in the Old Stonington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Inter Church Council Food Pantry in Blue Mound. Clinton J. Hornbuckle

Clinton J. Hornbuckle, 40, of Taylorville, IL passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family.

Clint was born August 27, 1977 in Aurora, IL, the son of Greg and Patty (Bell) Hornbuckle. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, plumber, and landscaper, but found his work family at Kroger Grocery Store in Taylorville. Clint was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church in Taylorville. He enjoyed his children and was a loving and devoted father. Clint loved anything outdoors, especially golf, fishing, hunting, and sports of any kind. His love of wrestling at all levels was his first passion. He wrestled from the age of 5 all the way through high school, and then went on to coach both the younger kids and at the junior high level.

Clint was a U.S. Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He served his country from 1995-1999. For his service to his country he was presented with a U.S. Marine Corp pin at a ceremony recently.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Judy Bell of Yorkville, IL; and maternal Aunt Betty (Halbesma) Huston of Yorkville.

He is survived by his significant other, Kate Graham of Taylorville; his children, Lucas Joseph, 8 weeks old of Taylorville, Katie, 13 and Erik, 10 of Walnut Creek, CA (mother Susan Kjaer Hornbuckle), step-son Michael Mason, 12 of Taylorville; his parents, Greg and Patty Hornbuckle of Taylorville; his sister Cindy Woods of Taylorville; his brother Chad (wife, Nena Ferrari) Hornbuckle of Edwardsville; nieces and nephews Kyle and Cole Woods and Brynn, Grant and Brock Hornbuckle; his grandparents, Robert and Fern Hornbuckle of Taylorville; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church, 319 S Washington St., Taylorville, IL.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m., on Monday Oct 30, 2017 at the Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Don Beetem as celebrant.

Interment will follow the ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, where military honors will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an Education Fund for Clint’s children. Checks must be made payable to Greg Hornbuckle.

James William Bates

James William Bates, 77 of Stonington passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2:35 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. He was born on August 12, 1940 in Poughkeepsie, AR the Son of Earnest and Viva (Smith) Bates. He married Marsha McDonald on June 16, 1961 in Ava, IL. Jim worked as a superintendent at Stonington Grain Co-Op.

Surviving are his Wife: Marsha Bates of Stonington, IL; Son: Todd (Kathy) Bates of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Brooke and Judd Bates of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Lola (Jim) Kail of Ava, IL and Ella Lomprez of Taylorville, IL; Brother: Galen (Linda) Bates of Edinburg, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Sharpsburg with Pastor Ted Merrinan officiating. Burial will be held in Bethel Cemetery in Sharpsburg, IL.

Edith L. Taylor

Edith L. Taylor, 101, of Edinburg, Illinois passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1915 in Liberty, Kentucky, the daughter of Luther and Maude (Allen) Witt. She married James C. Taylor on July 15, 1933 in Jamestown, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2004. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Edith devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. She loved to garden, work in her yard, and quilting.

She is survived by her children: Helen Turvey (Everett) of Taylorville, Tony Taylor (Deanna) of Morrisonville, Kay Landgrebe (Gary) of Springfield, Penny Tetzel (Horst) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pamela Brady (Michael) of Caseyville, Illinois; 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and brother: Wallace Witt of Somerset, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters: Jeanette Taylor, Juanita Taylor, Rita Johnson, and Charlotte Reed; sisters: Lela Witt, Mary Witt, Opal Helm, and Roberta Atwood; and brothers: Paul Witt, Howard Witt, James Witt, and Luther Witt.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Marrinan officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, Sharpsburg. Keith Westbrook, 56 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 3:18 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on April 5, 1961 in Joliet, IL the Son of Allen and Juanita (Meredith) Westbrook. He worked as a painter

Wanda M. Shake

Wanda Marie Shake, 82 of Owaneco passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 4:35 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born on November 30, 1934 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Louis and Marie (Basil) Loreth. She married William George Shake on October 13, 1956 in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2008. She worked as a homemaker and a member of Buckeye United Methodist Church in Owaneco, IL. Wanda enjoyed church activities, gardening, her pet dogs, country living and watching the birds and deer in the back yard. She especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all that know her.

Judith Rose Gianasi

 

Judith Rose Gianasi, 73 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born on October 16, 1943 in Springfield, IL the Daughter of Emil John and Rose (Dolenc) Leonard. She married Ceasar Gianasi on June 26, 1966 in Springfield, IL. She worked as a homemaker and farmer. Judy was a Taylorville Township trustee and she was an avid golfer winning the ladies city tournament several times and had two holes in one. She was a member of the Taylorville Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 1425 and Christian County Democrat Women.

Surviving are her Husband: Ceasar Gianasi of Taylorville, IL; Sons: Louis (Christi Meyer) Gianasi of Springfield, IL, Michael Gianasi of Taylorville, IL; Brothers: Tom (Martha) Leonard of Lexington, KY; Dan (Dianne) Leonard of Des Moines, IA; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents.

William G. Clark

William G. Clark, 67 of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1:50 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on February 3, 1950 in El Monte, CA the Son of William Clark and Audrey (Smith) Dechert. He married Susan Andrews on July 10, 1971 in Gibsonia, PA and they were later divorced. William retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service.

Surviving are his Son: Matt (Heidi) Clark of Pittsburg, PA; Grandchildren: Carolyn, Aurora and Owen Clark Mother: Audrey Dechert of Stonington, IL; Sisters: Karen Davis of Arkansas and Deanna Rossini of Round Lake, IL; Brothers: Robert Clark of Stonington, IL and Bradley Clark of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Father and grandparents.

James Swinburne

James Swinburne, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Kincaid, Stonington, and Taylorville, died at 12:31 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Jim was born on October 5, 1928 in Christopher, Illinois, to John and Edna (East) Swinburne. He married Patricia Corsiatto on June 8, 1952 in Kincaid, and she survives. He always loved sports, and played everything he could during high school. Jim earned his Bachelor’s at Carthage College, and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Education from the U of I. He taught Social Studies for 3 years at Tovey, and then went on to teach at Edinburg Junior High School until his retirement 20 years later. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Jim was recently given a life membership for the Taylorville VFW Post 4495, and he was also a member of the Kincaid American Legion. He was a life member of the Illinois Education Association as well as the National Education Association. Jim and his wife Pat attended the First United Methodist Church in Springfield. For his entire life, Jim was a devoted fisherman. He passed on his love for fishing to his grandchildren. He spent many years traveling to Northern Wisconsin with his brother and son for fishing trips. He loved bringing his family together for a good fish fry. He adored his family, and they adored him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pat, and their two children: Kathy Zwick of Taylorville, Mark Swinburne of Taylorville; four grandchildren: Suzanne (Greg) Mizera, Kevin Swinburne, Andrea (Vince) Schwab, Lauren Zwick; five great grandchildren: Cameron Allen, Xavier Younker, Zerith Swinburne, Leah Doty, Carson Mizera; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Robert Swinburne and John R. “Dick” Swinburne, sister: Patricia Williams, and one nephew: Randy Swinburne.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville, with Reverend Mike Whitaker officiating. Stanley R. Williams

Stanley R. Williams, 68 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2017 at 1:01 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on July 12, 1949 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Donald and JoAnn (Campbell) Williams. Stanley retired from Sangamon Card Company.

Surviving are his Sister: Denise (William) Bollinger of Rushville, IL; Brother: Shane Williams; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers: Dennis, Donald, David and Allen Dale Williams; Sisters: LeaWanda Bailey, Joett Prince and Mary Sinkhorn.

It was Stanley’s wishes to be cremated and have no services.

Judy Love

Judy Love, 72, of Taylorville, IL passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her son, at 2:05 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017.

 

Judy was born July 24, 1945 in Kincaid, IL the daughter of Ernest and Ruth Craig Dilbeck. She graduated high school in Kincaid, and went on to work for over forty years as a nurse’s aide, eventually retiring from Taylorville Care Center.

 

Judy, known as “Granny” to the ones she worked with, took care of many people throughout her career. She worked with so much love and kindness, and showed nothing but respect and dignity to everyone. Granny always put their needs before her own, without hesitation. She was an amazing cook, but most of all an avid animal lover, once again putting their needs before her own. Above all, Granny was the best grandma, always present when a shoulder was needed to cry on, or someone to play with. She made everyone feel loved, and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. Being a “Daddy’s Girl”, she is now walking and smiling in Heaven, holding his hand, and telling him all about her family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Betty Grubb.

 

Judy is survived by her son, Gary & Angela Harris-Dain of Taylorville; grandchildren, Krista (husband, Aaron) Metcalf and Jesse Dain, both of Taylorville; great grandchildren, Abigail and Colton; sister, Shirley (husband, Tex) Gray of Chatham; and her special friend, Gail Richards of Taylorville.

 

The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Michael Drea

Michael Patrick Drea, 60, of Taylorville passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on May 13, 1957 in Taylorville, the son of Patrick E. and Marjorie L. (Rhodes) Drea. Mike married Kathy Nolan on September 7, 1985 at St. Mary’s Church in Taylorville. He graduated from South Fork High School in 1975. He earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting from Sangamon State University in Springfield and went on to receive his MBA from there in 1982 and is also a Certified Procurement Buyer. Mike worked for the State of Illinois for 32 years, including 25 years in the Comptroller’s Office and later for the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission at the Department of Transportation as a Procurement Officer/State Purchasing Officer retiring in 2013. Mike was an active member of the Christian County Democrat Party and strongly believed in public service at the local level. He was elected to the Christian County Board in 1992, serving as Vice Chairman in 1996 until 1998 and Chairman from 1998 until 2000. While on the board, he served on the Executive/Personnel Committee and the Audit/Finance Committees. Throughout his 18 years of service on the Board, Mike was most proud of his efforts to streamline the board by reducing the number of members. He later was unanimously appointed and sworn in as the Christian County Treasurer on June 3, 2013.

Mike had a passion for serving his community and was proud to be active in many organizations throughout the years. He has served as Director of the Christian County Agricultural Fair Association for 31 years. For several years he served on the CEFS Economic Opportunity Corporation Board of Directors, the Langleyville Water Board, and was an active member of Midland Community Bank Board, and the Taylorville Community Garden. He proudly participated in the American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb at the Springfield Hilton for 7 years. Mike was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Mike loved coaching his sons’ teams, and did so for the St. Mary’s School Basketball program and Red Bland Little League and Pony League as well as a traveling team. He participated in Tae Kwon Do for several years with his sons, earning his 1st Degree Black Belt. He was an avid racquetball player and a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini.

He loved to travel with his family, especially to Ireland, Jamaica, and many national parks. Mike was a dog lover, especially his dog Macy. Above all, Mike was a loving husband, and incredibly proud of his sons.

Mike is survived by his wife: Kathy Drea of Taylorville; sons: Nolan Drea of Springfield and Ryan Drea of New York City; mother: Marjorie Drea of Taylorville; brother: John (Brenda) Drea of Jacksonville; niece: Kelsey (Robert) Hostert of Peoria; nephew Thomas Drea of Peoria; and mother-in-law: Mary Nolan of Taylorville. He was preceded in death by his father: Patrick Drea and father-in-law: Donald Nolan.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz and Fr. Braden Maher officiating. William Herman

 

William L. Herman, 86 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 1:21 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born on March 10, 1931 in Booneville, IN the Son of Arnold Herman and Viola Gibson-Ramsey. He married Novella Ramsey on April 23, 1949 in Dowell, IL at her parents’ home. Bill retired as a coal miner at Peabody Mine #10 after 45 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local #9819.

Ruby D. Hubert

Mrs. Ruby D. Hubert, 76, of Tovey passed away Friday October 6th, 2017 at 1:09 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville, IL.

 

She was born in Assumption IL on April 21, 1941, the daughter of Wesley and Flossie (Brown) Davis. She married Billy G. “Porky” Ernest Sr. April 20, 1958 in Assumption and he preceded her in death November 4, 1999. She later married Anton L. “Bo” Hubert May 19, 2001 in Taylorville, IL. He survives.

 

Ruby was of the Nazarene faith but attended Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, IL. She worked for more than twenty years at Philips Brothers Publishing in Springfield. She was a loving mother and wife, enjoyed camping, spending time with her family and helping her husband Bo mow the lawn.

 

Surviving are her husband Anton “Bo” Hubert of Tovey, IL, one son Billy (Pamela) Ernest Jr., Springfield IL, a daughter Cheryl (James) Manley of Taylorville, IL, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Beverly Davis of Pana, along with a great many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Billy Sr., and several brothers and sisters.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Masterson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kincaid, IL. Burial will follow in Nokomis Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Ruby Hubert will be held one hour prior to services at Masterson’s.

Robert L. Dautel, Sr.

Robert L. Dautel, Sr., of Morrisonville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was 88. 

 

Bob was born August 27, 1929, to Jules and Patricia Dautel.  He married Betty June King October 29, 1951 and she survives. Also surviving are five children: Kathy Dautel Wexstten of Taylorville; Beverly (Ken) Lipe of Raymond; Bob (Barb) Dautel and Jim (Dorothy) Dautel, both of Morrisonville; and Peggy (Jim Hemingway) Morgan of Edinburg; seven grandchildren: Michael Denning of Taylorville; Zach Jones of Villa Rica, GA; Sara Lipe of Charlottesville, VA; Jessica Dautel of DuQuoin; Jenna Apps of Richlands, NC; Jake Dautel of Palmer; and Seth Morgan of Edinburg; two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.  A brother, James Dautel of Franklin, NC, and sisters Delores Deickmann of Manchester, NJ, and Betty Gansbauer of Springfield, IL also survive him.  A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

 

Bob worked in the coal mining industry for many years before retiring as the Supervisor of the State of Illinois Mine Rescue Station in Springfield, IL.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was an avid gardener, fisherman and home winemaker.

 

There will be no visitation.  Friends may pay their respects at graveside services, which will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Morrisonville Cemetery.  The family of Mr. Dautel is being served by Perfetti Assalley Funeral Home, Morrisonville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Richard T. Mormino

Richard T. Mormino, 85, of Taylorville passed away peacefully at his home at 8:39 A.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2017. He was born on August 7, 1932 in Hillsboro, the son of Mark and Gladys (Morrell) Mormino. He married Mary Whalen on April 12, 1957 in Springfield. Richard graduated from Hillsboro High School, Eastern Illinois University and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois. He taught high school for 37 years in Witt, Morrisonville, and Taylorville. When he wasn’t teaching, he enjoyed working alongside his father at Mormino Wholesale Fruit and Produce in Hillsboro. Richard played football in high school and coached basketball for many years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a lifetime member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Mormino of Taylorville; daughter: Angela (Dennis)Caraway of Crystal Lake, Illinois; grandsons: Joshua (Naomi) Caraway of Wisconsin and Michael (Mary) Caraway of Michigan; sister: Diane DeBeouf of Washington, Illinois; brother: Larry (Claudia) Mormino of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Mark Mormino; and sister: Gladys Hewitt.

Mr. Mormino will be cremated and a memorial mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 A.M. Wednesday in the church. Inurnment will take place at 2 P.M. on Wednesday at St Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro with Fr. Dan Willenborg officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Simmons Cancer Institute. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
