Linda Luttrell-Buracker, of Osceola, MO formerly of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home in Osceola, MO. She was born on December 21, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of William “Buck” and Dorothy (Daniels) Luttrell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eagles in Taylorville, IL.

She is survived by her daughter: Dorothy Brown of Taylorville, IL, grandchildren: Tammy Brown of Taylorville, IL, Elizabeth Harter of Taylorville, IL and Christopher Harter also of Taylorville, IL, sister: Mary Dean of Pana, IL, brother: Bill Luttrell of South Dakota, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Jerry Luttrell Sr. and sister: Marjorie Cohoon.

Emma Jane Harris, 89 of Taylorville, passed away at 11:35a.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born on November 30, 1932 in Sesser, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Sybil Joy (Kelly) Rea.  She married William Ronald Harris on October 22, 1950 in Sesser and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2021.  Emma was a member of Taylorville First United Methodist Church.  She worked at Advanced Eye Care for Dr. Blackman as an outreach coordinator.  She loved to fish, play golf, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

She is survived by her daughter: Linda Micenheimer (Jim) of Taylorville; son: Michael Harris (Deborah) of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren: Michelle Feasel (Barry) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Jamie Werve (Kyle) of North Aurora, Curt Micenheimer (Jessica) of Taylorville, and Chase Micenheimer (Katie) of Taylorville; great grandchildren: Cole Werve, Paige Werve, Collin Micenheimer, Kaylee Micenheimer, and Emmitt Micenheimer; nephews: Jimmy Rea (Julie) of Arizona and Johnny Rea of California.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: John Rea; and sister: Betty Hampleman.

Yvonne Lee Fraley, 94, of Taylorville, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday morning February 24, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Yvonne was born August 16, 1927 the daughter of Ural and Thelma (Benham) Gardner in Christian County. She attended Fairview Elementary School and later graduated from Taylorville High School in 1945. She was a drum majorette in the band, co-editor of the yearbook, was a top 10 honor student and elected prom queen her senior year. In 1949 she graduated from the University of Illinois College of Education. During college, she was a member Gamma Phi Beta social sorority, Alpha Lamba Delta scholastic honorary, Junior editor of the yearbook, and chosen to be a member of TORCH. 

Yvonne began her career teaching English and Spanish, and served as the Dean of Girls at Taylorville Junior High School until her retirement.

On August 13th, 1949 she was united in marriage to her High School sweetheart Varel Fraley and they celebrated nearly 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. 

Yvonne was beloved by all who met her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to all. She enjoyed spending her winters in North Redington Beach, FL spending most days soaking up the sun on the beach, loved shopping, was an avid lover of books, and she enjoyed Big Band music and dancing. Most of all she was a symbol grace, class, integrity, and unconditional love. She always looked for the best in both people and situations and was described as possessing a “special sweetness”.

Having been raised in the Presbyterian Church, Yvonne had faith in God and Christ.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Ural and Thelma (Benham) Gardner; husband, Varel; sister, Annette; and daughter, LeAnnne. 

She is survived by daughter, Kedra Manginelli and husband Bill of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Weston (wife, Courtney) Manginelli, Brittain (wife, Jonnalyn) Manginelli, Trenten (husband, James) Dempsey-Rozeboom, Cameron Dempsey, Trisha (husband, Zachary) Arquilla; great grandchildren who knew her as GiGi, Rocco and Aureia Manginelli and Marlee Grace and Calvin Arquilla; brother-in-law, Vance (wife, Katie) Fraley; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of ceremony at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568, with Bill Manginelli officiating.

Mark Aaron Rice, 46 of Port Charlotte, FL passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at his mother’s home in Decatur, IL.  He was born on July 24, 1975 in Springfield, IL the son of Edward Lee and Vicki (Reeter) Rice. Mark owned and operated a utility construction company and worked alongside his father and brothers for many years.

He is survived by his sons: James and Tyler Rice of Sarasota, FL, mother and step-father: Vicki (Robert) “Bob” Hovey of Decatur, IL, father and step-mother: Ed (Kay) Rice of Venice, FL, his love and longtime companion: Adrienne Sivits of Port Charlotte, FL, brothers: Joe (Lorraine) Rice of Punta Gorda, FL and Josh (Vath) Rice of Parrish, FL, step-brother: Jeff (Stacey) Wood of Taylorville, IL, and step-sister: Jennifer (Andy) Petzold of Cedar Rapids, IA. He is also survived by the mother of his boys, Elizabeth Locke Rice, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother: Ruby Rice, grandparents: Earl and Hazel Reeter, and uncles: Doug and Mark Reeter.

Michael James Stillwell, 77, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 1:12 p.m. at Heritage Health in Pana, IL. He was born on May 10, 1944 in Ottawa, IL the son of Donald M. and Glenna L. (Harmon) Stillwell. Michael lived his entire life in Taylorville, except his time in the US Navy where he served as an anti-submarine warfare tech. third class AX-3. He was a conductor for CIM Railroad and a journeyman photo engraver for Associates Engraving Co. in Springfield, IL, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of NRA, American Legion Post #73 and the Taylorville Pistol & Rifle Club.

Michael is survived by a son: Bradley J. (Melanie) Stillwell of Taylorville, IL, a grandson: Kirk M. Harris, a great granddaughter: Zennie M. Harris and a sister: Roberta Trelz of Sullivan, IL.

There will be no services per Michael’s request. An inurnment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Lawrence E. “Larry” Nolan, 84 of Taylorville, passed away, surrounded by his family, at 4:05a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Taylorville Estates.  He was born on January 11, 1938 in Taylorville, the son of Edward J. and Elta G. (Buesinger) Nolan.  Larry served 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserves.  On April 4, 1959 he married Mary E. Harrell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville and she preceded him in death on May 24, 1997.  He later married Janet L. Fulk on February 8, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  

Larry was a life-long farmer and served on the May Township Board.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini.  Larry enjoyed traveling to many parts of the country and around the world.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.  He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  Larry enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities and attending their sporting events.

He is survived by his wife: Janet Nolan of Taylorville; sons: Joseph Nolan (Teresa) of Taylorville, John Nolan (Laurie) of Carlinville, and Lawrence Michael “Mike” Nolan of Taylorville; stepdaughter: Theresa Stade of Divernon; stepson: Butch Fulk (Sally Prasun) of Edinburg; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Mary, daughter: Mary “Beth” Nolan; great-granddaughter: Lia Bertolino; brother: Donald Nolan; and sister: Patty Beyers.

Steven “Steve” D. Oliver, 67, passed away on February 11, 2022 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Hot Springs, AR.

Steve was born on September 20, 1954 in Springfield, IL to Darrel M. Oliver and Nelda Klamm Oliver.

Steve graduated from Taylorville High School in 1972. He went on to receive his BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 1976, MA in Clinical Psychology from Sangamon State University in 1978, and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1982.

Steve began his law career in 1982 with the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorneys Office. He later joined Callahan, Crow, Bachelor, Newell and Oliver in 1989 while working as a Deputy Public Defender. In 1993, Bachelor, Newell and Oliver began their own firm. In 2001, Steve was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Garland County and served until he resigned in 2014.

Steve was a Licensed Psychological Examiner, a Master Gardener, in the 1980 Law Review, Leadership Class of 1991, Chairperson of Hot Springs Oktoberfest, as well as a member of the Hot Springs Downtown Rotary, Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Arkansas Psychologists Association, Garland County and Arkansas Bar Association, Prosecutors Association, among countless other organizations.

If you knew Steve, he was a lot of things. He had many different stages in his life. Throughout it all, he was consistent. He was strong. He was blunt. He was funny. And he could literally be everything in between, and if you knew him, that explains it all. His love of movies was no secret as posters and memorabilia were prominently displayed on the walls of his office and home. He enjoyed a good cigar, hunting, fishing, having a big garden and cooking for family and friends. Chances are if you were around Steve long enough, you had a slice or five of his homemade pizza or maybe you went to one of his Fourth of July parties and had some fried catfish or a piece of hog while watching the fireworks. He loved that. Every bit but especially doing it with his sons Josh and Nick. He was a good father who taught his sons through his strength and passion for life. He left huge shoes to fill and there’s no telling how much they picked up, but they’re working on the pizza.

Steve was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving Steve are the mother of his children, Marsha Oliver; Son Joshua and grandson Asher Oliver of Florida; Son Nicholas and unborn grandson Jackson David Oliver of Hot Springs; and step-grandchildren Megan and Brendan Douglass. Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Herrod, Doug Quick, Patheia Pryor, Darrel Blount, Dr. Kyle Roper, Burt Newell, Latta Bachelor, Nick Pritsch, Cody Smith, Mauria and Dr. Robert Aspell, Susan and Dr. Don Jackson, and Jamie Jackson. The family would also like to thank the caretakers at The Atrium, Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab Nursing Home, and the nurses at CHI St. Vincent and Christus Dubuis Hospital for their devoted attention and service.

Barbara Helen Monge, 84, of Taylorville, passed away with her daughters at her side, at 6:00pm on Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She was born on December 3, 1937 in Taylorville, the daughter of Jack and Juanita I. (Lee) Braat.  She married Ronald P. Monge on August 20, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.  Ron preceded her in death on December 17, 2017.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in 1960 and in 1967 received her Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois.  For a span of over 40 years Barb taught at St. Peter & Paul High School in Waterloo, Taylorville High School, St. Mary’s School, and Morrisonville High School before returning to and retiring from Taylorville High School as guidance counselor.  Barb was the first female score keeper for IHSA boys high school basketball.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she played the organ for over 50 years.  She was a charter member of the American Business Women’s Association and the Community Business Women’s Association.  She was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s of America and previously coached basketball and softball.  More than anything she loved her family, and especially looked forward to traveling to visit her grandchildren.  

 
She is survived by her daughters: Virginia "Ginny" Monge (Deane Walker) of Concord, California, and Carol Lee Sain (Shon) of Wilmington, Delaware; grandchildren: Bailey Sain, Alex Walker, Jack Walker, and Lily Sain; sister: Jean Neal (Tom Newton) of Chandler, Arizona; brother-in-law: Julio Monge of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Richard Leon Myers, 79, of Taylorville, passed from this world to his eternal life with Jesus, at 5:57p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on August 2, 1942 in Taylorville, the son of Herschel and Della (Burton) Myers. He married Diana Lynn Tomazic on March 18, 1967 in Taylorville. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Italy, Germany, and Alaska, and he also spent 23 years in the Air National Guard. He retired from Firestone after a career of over 30 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. Richard bowled for many years in several different leagues, mainly at North Lanes. He was an avid racing fan, especially NASCAR. He attended many Daytona 500’s and spent his last hours of life watching this year’s race with his son and daughter-in-law by his side. Richard was the most devoted husband, father, and papa that a family could ask for. His selfless, humble, and patient demeanor will be forever remembered by his family and friends.

William E Radzimanowski

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, passed away on February 19, 2022 surrounded by his wife and close friends, he had just celebrated his 85^th birthday. Bill was born and raised in Taylorville Illinois, he born on January 31^st 1937 to parents Paul and Catherine Radzimanowski. Bill was president of his senior Class of 1956. He married Barbara Wilson in 1956. Bill worked at Caterpillar for 35 years, he was Vice President of the union. Bill was active in the community, he served on the board of education for 14 years. He coached Little League, Biddy Basketball, and church league basketball. He took his Little League baseball team to the State Championship. Bill taught religion classes at St Mary’s. He loved to fish, take walks with his wife Barbara, and travel. Bill was quite the handyman with his shopsmith, he made cabinets, and Christmas decorations for “Christmas in the Park”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Fritz, sister Lily, brother-in-law Chester Bassana, and nephew Terry Young.

He is survived by the love of his life Barbara, their children Bill, (Sandi) of Tennessee, and daughter Kathy of Georgia; grandchildren, John Radzimanowski, (Carly), Morgan Hemphill (Chad), Julian Karlin, and his great grandchildren, Joel, Rowan, and Kian Radzimanowski (John), Elliott (Morgan).

John H. (Jack) Pritchett , 90, of Taylorville passed away peacefully at his home at 5:38 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in the presence of his family. He had courageously endured almost 12 years of kidney dialysis.

Jack was born May 5, 1931, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Stanley J. and Margaret Anna (Rohwedder) Pritchett. While Jack was a young child the family moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where he spent his formative years. After graduating from Rock Island High School, he moved to Vandalia, Missouri, where he met Reta R. Smith whom he later married on January 9, 1954.

They lived in Decatur from 1954 to 1960 and then moved to Taylorville. Jack worked at Montgomery Ward, Bodendieck Tool & Die Co., and then retired from Sangamon Paper Co. after 24.5 years. After retiring, the joy of his life was his young granddaughters for whom he was the unofficial babysitter/chauffeur. Jack loved his family and was a caring, loyal friend to many. Jack was an active charter member of Grace Baptist Church of Taylorville where he quietly and faithfully served in many capacities; from assistant treasurer, to helping his wife in the Beginner’s Sunday School class, and even as a church bus driver.

Jack is survived by his wife of 68 years, Reta Smith Pritchett; son Donald (Cynthia) Pritchett of Decatur; son Ronald (Kelly) Pritchett of Taylorville; granddaughters Marguerita (Maggi) Pritchett of Taylorville and Rossi Pritchett of Edinburg; brother-in-law Fred (Gladys) Smith of Mexico, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard (Dick) Pritchett of Decatur, Illinois.

Hailey LeAnn, Oller, 28, of Kincaid, IL was called home to her Lord Friday, February 18, 2022 from Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 5, 1994 in Springfield, IL the daughter of David and Jamie (Summers) Oller.  
Hailey was a lifetime member of the Kincaid Church of God.  She was a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt and granddaughter.  Hailey was a true fighter and outlived all of her medical expectations.  She loved her puppies and her cat.

James Koonce, 75 of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his home in Taylorville.  He was born on December 31, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the son of Raymond Harold and Ina Josephine (Shanks) Koonce. James was a machine operator at Caterpillar for 34 years and a member of the United Auto Workers Union and Crossroads Apostolic Ministries.  He loved to hunting beagles, reading his Bible daily and spending time with his grandkids. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

 James L. “Jim” Swinger, 89, of Forsyth, IL passed away on, February 16, 2022 in his home of over 50 years surrounded by his family. Jim was born on December 23, 1932 to Oscar L. and Hazel E. (Phelps) Swinger in Morrisonville, IL. He graduated from Morrisonville High School in 1950 and served in U.S. Navy from March 1952 until February 1956. During the Korean war he literally went around the world with Company 145 on the U.S.S. Tarawa. He served as an Electronic Technician fixing communications gear. He was also a member of the Navy Brigade Drill Team. In December of 1958 he graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL. He was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1959 until he retired in 1992.

He married Betty Ruth Tucker in 1962 in Oreana, IL. She passed away October 19, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister V. Jean Hocking.

He is survived by his son Lee Swinger of Springfield, IL; his daughters Nola (Lyndon) Dittus and Becky (Brad) Barnes; and five grandchildren Riley, Emily, and Abby Dittus and Matthew and Andrew Barnes all of Heyworth.

Services will be 12 PM Monday, February 21, 2022 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.  Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL with military honors.  Visitation will be 10 AM-12 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Jim was known for his ability to fix anything and willingness to do it for nothing in return. He helped many of his neighbors, friends and family members with home improvement projects, plumbing, electrical wiring, and large/small repairs. He had a love of all animals big and small and was always on the go.

He also enjoyed vacationing with his family including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, New York, and Washington D.C. with his wife in their retirement; attending Illinois State University basketball games; gathering weekly with Illinois Bell friends for coffee; serving others through the Telephone Pioneers of America; attending meetings and activities of the Macon County Farm Bureau Prime Timers; making daily trips to Menards; performing endless tinkering; spending time with his beloved dachshund CoCo. Jim also played pinochle in a monthly card club consisting of his wife’s classmates, twice a month with the Jolly Jokers at the Friends Creek Community center in Argenta, IL and often with this family.

He spent the last few years going on annual vacations with his kids and grandkids and visiting with them several times a week.

He was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by them all. Honor Jim by serving your neighbor with the talents God has given you while expecting nothing in return.

Robert E. Hanks Sr., went home to be with his Lord, whom he loved very much. Bob passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 1:35 p.m. at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy, IL. He was born on February 17, 1934 in Forsyth, IL the son of Harold J. and Oka M. (Hauser) Hanks. He married Rose M. Longstreth on August 26, 1954; they have been married 67 years. Bob loved his family very much. Robert owned his own business Hanks Heating and Cooling for over 50 years in Taylorville. He served his country during the Korean War. He will be greatly missed.

He is the father of 3 children: Deborah L. Vacker, Dawn K. Hanks and Robert E. Hanks Jr.; Grandchildren: Matthew Vacker, Joshua Miller, Jake Miller, Russell D. Hanks, Great-Grandchildren: Colton Vacker, Christian Vacker, Jessica Vacker Spalding, Gavin Vacker, Alexis Miller, Cecilia Miller, Zackery Miller, Olivia Miller, Great-Great-Grandson: Ian Spalding, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death parents, and his brothers Jackie and Donald Hanks.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date with Pastor Tiney Walker officiating. Inurnment will be in with military graveside honors.

Richard A. Wright Jr., 84 of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 in his home.  He was born on October 23, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Richard A. Wright Sr. and Frances L. (Achenbach) Wright.  He married Christel Molenski on September 16, 1960 in Taylorville.  Richard retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation as a manager of the Duplicating Department.  Richard enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially while golfing.  He enjoyed hunting, especially trips out west for elk hunting.  He was a talented grill chef who could cook almost anything on the grill.  Over the years he used his grilling skills to help at fundraisers for the Knights of Columbus.  He was a SCUBA diver and member of the Taylorville Rescue Squad search and recover team.  Richard was a life-long-learner.  No matter the subject, he had a passion for learning as much as he could.  More than anything he adored his grandchildren.  No matter what sport or activity they were involved in, he was always there to support them.  

He is survived by his wife; Christel Wright of Taylorville; son: Douglas A Wright (Jamie) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Rani Gosnell (Aaron) and Sid Wright both of Taylorville; great granddaughter: Griffen Gosnell of Taylorville; and brother: Dave Wright (Glenda) of Mattoon.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Debbie Smitley; and sister: Marcia Wright.

Victoria Lynn “Vicki” Sands Dixon, 70, a native of Shelbyville, IL and well-known government official in Washington, D.C., died peacefully in her sleep in Naples, FL on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

The funeral home of Howe and Yockey in Shelbyville, IL, is assisting the family with arrangements for the 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 memorial service that will be livestreamed.  The Rev. Vicki was born on July 13, 1951 in Shelbyville, IL the daughter of William Ernest and Peggy Ann (Gallagher) Sands.  She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1969 and attended Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL.  One of her first public service jobs was with her state representative, Roscoe D. Cunningham.

She moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career in public service, working for Congressman Dan Crane of Illinois from 1979 – 1985 and then for Veterans Affairs Secretary Edward Derwinski.  From 1989 until her retirement in 2016, Vicki worked at the U.S. Department of the Interior, serving six Secretaries of the Interior there.

Members of Congress and others also knew her as an active member of the Capitol Hill Club and the loving companion of the late former House Minority Leader Robert Michel of Illinois during the last decade of his life.

Over the years Vicki served under both Republican and Democratic administrations at Interior.  “Vicki Dixon was the example par excellence of a career public servant who did not work for public attention but for the sake of the country she loved,” said former Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne.  “She didn’t seek to win media coverage, but she won the hearts of many from the highest to the most humble positions in the nation’s capital through her kindness and professionalism."

At the Department of the Interior, Vicki worked in the Secretary’s office and the Bureau of Land Management as an expert in external affairs.  She engaged with public officials, constituent groups and stakeholders to improve communication and collaboration on bureau and departmental priorities.  She was highly regarded for her seamless coordination of meeting and events for the secretary and other Interior leadership.

Even after she moved to the Washington, D.C. area, Vicki always kept her family and roots in Illinois closest to her heart.  She and Leader Michel made it clear that they were two of the biggest Chicago Cubs fans anywhere.  

Family and friends from far and wide agree that Vicki Dixon was best known for bringing people together and being the cog in a very large wheel of friends.  She knew each by their likes and needs and all who were part of this large wheel could call her their best friend.  She was known for her kindness and generosity and was a friend to all no matter a person’s state in life.  When she knew that a friend or acquaintance was ill or in need of assistance, Vicki would be the first person to step in and help.  She was frequently described as an angel on Earth.

Most of all, Vicki was dedicated to her family.  Even though her three brothers were no longer living, she spoke of fond memories and how much she missed them. She adored her sister, Kristi Bright of Creve Coeur, Illinois, and visited with her as often as possible.  Her mother, Mrs. Peggy Smith of Taylorville, Illinois, was her best friend.  After Vicki retired, she was able to spend more time visiting her mother and family. She loved her time in Illinois and on trips with her family.

In September 2021, Vicki moved to Naples to live-out retirement in a home she was having built to welcome friends and family. She was looking forward to her new chapter.  She was meeting new friends, joining the Lely Presbyterian Church and volunteering as she always did-earning her heavenly angel wings many times over.

In addition to her mother and sister, Vicki is survived by nephews and nieces:  Chad (Jolene) Edwards of East Peoria, IL, Ashley (Jon) Reilly of Parker, CO, Rory (Blair) Sands of Lake St. Louis, MO, Tara (Jonathon Dodd) Sands of Byhalia, MS; Ott Sands of Taylorville, IL and MeeRae Sands of Hendersonville, TN as well as several great nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Dixon in 1998; by her father, William ”Bill” Sands; and brothers, Mike, Scott, and Jimmy Sands.

Terri L. Robinson, 58, of Taylorville passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 4:26 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. She was born on December 17, 1963, the daughter of Terry and Barbara A. (Taylor) Bourke in Witt, IL. She married Jeffrey Robinson on June 14, 1997 in Taylorville, IL. She was a secretary for Blue Cross Blue Shield prior to her retirement.

She is survived by her husband: Jeffrey Robinson of Taylorville, IL, son; Brad (Adriana) Johnsey of Taylorville, IL, daughter; Rachel (Brad) Gilpin of Taylorville, IL, grandchildren; Carter & Abby Newberry also of Taylorville, IL, sister; Tammy Bourke of Nokomis, IL, brothers; Brent Bourke, Brian Bourke and Bruce Bourke all of Witt, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father.

Charles “Dennis” Ray, 76 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:55 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on March 20, 1945 in Decatur, IL, the son of Charles Willard and Frances Evelyn (Whitacre) Ray, and they both preceded him in death. He graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur, IL in 1964. Following graduation, he went to work at Caterpillar in Decatur until serving in the US Army from September 13, 1968 to September 12, 1971. During that time, he spent one year in Vietnam. He then returned to Caterpillar where he worked almost 37 years retiring May 1, 2001.

Dennis married Sharon Lynne Sims Ruyle on March 29, 1992 and they enjoyed almost 30 years together.
He was an active member of Taylorville Evangelical Free Church, NRA and Illinois State Rifle Association. Dennis loved working outside, attending auctions, watching westerns, early morning coffee with the guys at McDonald’s and traveling to the Southwest. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

Dennis is survived by his wife Sharon of Taylorville; children, Scott (Chris) Woods of Tovey, Lisa Woods (Rodney) Sheedy and Shannon Ray (Clint) Emmons, both of Taylorville; stepchildren, Jason (Hilary) Ruyle of Normal and Leslie Ruyle (Raymond) Barnett of Chatham; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Lynette Ray Whitehurst of Yellville, Arkansas and Kathy Ray Moore (David) Hill of Macon; and brother, Kevin Ray of Decatur.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Taylorville Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Don Beetem officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL

Lynn Renee Day, 53 of Taylorville passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 7:38 a.m. at her home in rural Taylorville. She was born on November 29, 1968 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Paul and Paula (Grieme) Adams. She married Michael Day. on October 4, 2014 in Edinburg, IL. She was a receptionist at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, IL.  Lynn loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn S. Bertinetti, 79, of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in her home. She was born on December 7, 1942 in Taylorville, the daughter of C.F. and Pearl (Sanders) Bertinetti. From 1974 until 1985, Carolyn worked as an examiner for the Secretary of State Driver Services Facility in Taylorville. In 1985 she went to work as an auditor for the Department of Burial Trust with the State of Illinois Comptroller Office, a position she held until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had a passion for researching her family history and genealogy.

She is survived by her daughter: Mara Bertinetti; grandchildren: Tony Bavetta and Danny Bavetta; and greatgranddaughter: Bella Bavetta all of Taylorville. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carolyn will be cremated and her remains inurned in the family plot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Earlene Beaman, age 89, passed away peacefully at noon on February 6, 2022, at Carriage Crossing surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born June 23, 1932, in Taylorville, Earlene was the daughter of the late Gladys and Earl Sims. She married Jack Beaman on December 14, 1973, and they had 48 happy years together. 

Earlene worked at Fab n’ Trim fabric store before spending many years at Continental Grain. An avid animal lover, her favorite job before she officially retired was as an assistant at Northside Veterinary Clinic.

In addition to her husband, Earlene is survived by her children: Jimmy Jones of Taylorville, Leah (Dave) Bergner of Lampe, MO, Barry (Diane) Jones of Morrisonville, Jeffrey (Maria) Jones of Grayslake, IL, Terri (Kyle) Taylor of Effingham, Mike (Veronica) Beaman of Taylorville and Diane Bilyeu of Taylorville;  Grandchildren: Jared Bergner, Rachel (Jason) Robison, Rebekah (Mike) Berger, Bridget (Brandon) Swailes, Zachary (Nicole) Jones, Elizabeth Cassidy, Ashley Jones, Hunter Jones, Jaime Joliff, Wendy (Clint) Matlock, Michael (Crystal) Beaman, Holly Beaman, Cari Bilyeu Hicks, MacKenzie Colonious, Jackie Beaman and Timmy Beaman; brother Richard Sims, sisters-in-law Connie Beaman and Barbara Bauer, brothers-in-law Bill Beaman and Darrell (Beverly) Beaman; 23 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Earlene was a proud lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved dogs and cats, and enjoyed raising cows, pigs, goats and chickens with Jack. She loved reading, sewing, crochet, painting and listening to Frank Sinatra, but the most important thing in her life was her family. She loved fishing with her kids, antiquing with the girls, family card games, baking with her daughter at Christmas and the annual family vacation to Branson with all her children, grandchildren and siblings.

Kayden Zale Tyson, 7 Months of Decatur passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on June 30, 2021 in Decatur, IL the son of Hailey Robertson and Josh Tyson.

Samuel George Groener, 84 of Taylorville, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in his home.  He was born on August 1, 1937 in Chicago, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (VanFleet) Groener.  Sam worked most of his life as a truck driver in Chicago, and also worked as a limousine driver, security officer, and in advertising.  He also earned his EMT license, working on an ambulance in Chicago and the suburbs.

Along with his wife Sherry, Sam worked at 4 locations of a suburban Chicago funeral home for several years.  He will be truly missed by his family, who thank their heavenly father for allowing him to stay on this earth for so many years.  Sam struggled with many illnesses over the last decade and had many victories and relapses.  He is truly at peace now with no more suffering, and he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Sam is survived by his wife: Sherry Groener of Taylorville; daughter: Janice Groener of Chicago; son: Donald Groener (Sandy) of Glendale Heights; several grandchildren; and brother: Donald Burch (Marion) of Bridgman, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; and children: Patricia Groener, Billy Groener, and Victor Groener.

Mr. Groener will be cremated, and no services will be held at this time.  Memorial donation in Sam’s honor may be made to the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Ms. Sharon K. Katcher-Stringer, 79, of Taylorville, IL formerly of Kincaid, IL left peacefully from this world surrounded by her loved ones in her daughter’s home.

She was born in Taylorville, IL May 29, 1942 the daughter of Steve J. and Mary Ann (Bernardini) Katcher.
Ms. Stringer worked as a Barber/Stylist, an Artist, and she retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue.  She was a member at both St. Mary’s and St. Rita’s Catholic Churches.  Ms. Stringer also belonged to the Illinois Art Association and she won several ribbons for her artwork in competition at the Illinois State Fair.

Surviving are: her son Sam Stringer of Kincaid, IL., two daughters Sue Ellen Stringer-Vince and Crissy (Ryan) Stringer-Bell all of Taylorville, IL., her grandchildren Sammy, Shane and Ryan Stringer of Florida, Kevin and Noah Vince of Taylorville, IL., Abby (Jordan) Jackson of Raymond, IL., and Lauren Evans of Taylorville, IL., her great grandchildren Maverick Jackson of Raymond, IL., and Krysten Stringer of Florida, 3 sisters Gigi (Gary) Smothers of Taylorville, IL., Patsy (Gary) Surber of Pawnee, IL., and Cynthia Sapetti of Kincaid, IL., along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Phyllis Jane (Brady) Bland, 91 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 6:30 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on September 8, 1930 in Benton, IL the daughter of Wm Earl and Thelma (Monen) Brady. She married Thomas J. Bland Jr. on October 26, 1952 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2010. She worked as the office manager for Tom Bland Real Estate and Piggly Wiggly. Phyllis lived her life for her family. Rarely did she miss the grandkids and great grandkids activities. She witnessed many basketball games, football games, track meets, cross country meets, baseball games, volleyball games, dance recitals, band concerts, horse shows, and more! She was a super fan. Phyllis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

She is survived by her daughter: Andra (Bill) Ebert of Taylorville, IL; sons: Rick (Terri) Bland of Taylorville, IL and Tim Bland of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Brendan, Morgan, Justin, and Tripp all of Taylorville, IL; Nine great-grandchildren; Sister: Karen Tish of Auburn, IL; Brother: Jimmie Brady of Mesa, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother: Gene Brady and Sister: Delores Delaine.  

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Debra Kay Walton, 68, of Taylorville IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Debra was born October 7, 1953, in Highland IL to Alec Edward and Helen Joann (Farley) Cohoon.

Debra grew up in Taylorville, IL. She graduated from Taylorville High School, class of 1971. From there she started her life as a wife and loving mother to her two children as a homemaker and avid baker. 

Debra is preceded in death by her husband Patrick Walton, mother, father, and brother Randy Cohoon: She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Danny Vidmar of Taylorville; son and daughter in law, Shane and Jamie Mann of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter, Carmen Mann of Chatham; and grandchildren, Alexia, Madisyn, Caleb, Jaeda, and Cason,

Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends. She will leave an irreplaceable void here on earth but, heaven just got a little brighter and more special as God welcomed her home.

A graveside memorial service for Debra will take place at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. Allen E Barringer, 64 of Stonington, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  He was born on May 17, 1957, in Springfield, the son of Elmer O. and Harriett C. (Shartzer) Barringer.  He married Nancy J. Adams on February 17, 1990.  Allen worked for many years for the city of Stonington public works department.  He enjoyed spending time in his garage, woodworking and working on cars.  He also enjoyed going to car shows and fishing.  

He is survived by his wife: Nancy Barringer and sons: Luke Barringer and Drew Barringer all of Stonington. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herschel and Virtie (Kidd) Adams.

Robert Lee Reeves, 92 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10:07 a.m. at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 22, 1930 in Detroit, MI the son of Carl and Helen (Shaw) Reeves. He married Mary Lou Linn on August 1, 1953 in the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, IL. Bob ran The Minute Car Wash first for several years, then becoming an electrician, having his own business until retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, Mound Lodge #122 AF&AM in Taylorville, VFW Post #4495 and he played in the Senior Citizen retired Golf League on Mondays at Lake Shore Golf Course in Taylorville.

He is survived by his Wife: Mary Lou Reeves of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Terree (Jeffrey) May of Palmer, IL; Debbee (Greg) Polovich of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Caleb (Kimberly) May of Palmer, IL; Jordan May of Breese, IL; Katie (Travis) Roach of Decatur, IL; Kimberly (Jerry) Stout of Valdosta, GA; Jason Polovich of Waterloo, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Payton and Colin May; Brooklyn, Campbell and Henley Roach; Jett, Kobe, Cora and Wynn Stout and nieces: Shannon Falk and Tammy Reeves. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: James Reeves.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating, Military Graveside honors and Masonic Rites.

Curt D. Rhodes, 54, of Taylorville passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 6:32 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on March 31, 1967 in Edmonton Alberta, Canada, the son of Jerry and Ann (Schneider) Rhodes. He married Katrina Johnson on August 6, 1988 in Taylorville, IL. Curt loved racing, the St. Louis Blues, his pets and his family. Over the course of his racing career, he won many track championships and mile titles. His second home was Macon Speedway. He was a member of UMP Modified Racing Series. He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife: Katrina Rhodes of Taylorville, IL, Daughter: Kassandra Rhodes of Taylorville, IL, Son: Zachary (Megan) Rhodes of Taylorville, IL, Sister: Debbie (Kenny) Gatton Taylorville, IL, Brother: Joe (Sherry) Rhodes of Wisconsin, Nephews: Brandon Gatton, Justin Gatton, Tyler Johnson, Ryan Gatton, Nieces: Hannah Johnson, Kristy Miller. Edward Michael Gillen II, 43 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 8:50 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on July 1, 1978 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Edward Michael Gillen and Faye Hoy. Edward was a mechanic for Rt. 29 Kustoms and in his spare time, he loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his Daughters: Alex Bogusz of Riverton, IL; Hailee Belsher of Morrisonville, IL, Kadance Gillen of Taylorville, IL, Addyson Gillen of Taylorville, IL, Son: Tyler Durbin of Taylorville, IL, Mother Faye Halford of Taylorville, IL Survived by Companion: Teresa Wiseman of Taylorville, IL, Brother: Tim Ashby of Springfield, IL,Sister-in-Law: Stephanie Ashby of Taylorville, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Edward and Anna Gillen, Helen Miller, Son; Michael Gillen and his brother: David Ashby.

John W. Eller, 75 of Nokomis passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 7:10 a.m. at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Nokomis, IL. He was born on October 16, 1946 in Vandalia, IL the son of Roy Raymond and Virginia (Masters) Eller Sr. John worked as a delivery driver for Napa Auto Parts in Jacksonville, IL. He loved visiting and spending time with family. John retired from the United States Army after 16 years serving in the Classified Special Operations Unit.

He is survived by his Son: Christopher Eller of Jacksonville, IL; Daughter: Michelle Richardson of Nokomis, IL; Six Grandchildren; Two Great-Grandchildren; Brothers: Roy Raymond (Brenda) Eller Jr Litchfield, IL; Sisters: Carol Wright of Nokomis, IL, Penny (Jim) Hood of Shelbyville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and Grandparents. 

John will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.

Herbert L. Moscardelli, 64, of Taylorville, passed away at 12:45pm on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  He was born on May 6, 1957 in Springfield, the son of Victor Moscardelli and Dorothy Hambelton.  He married Lela May Francis on May 3, 2006 in Taylorville and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2017.  Herb previously worked at the Illinois State Fair Grounds and also as a bus driver in Las Vegas.  He dearly loved his family and was devoted to his wife and kids.  

He is survived by his children: Jerry Woodson of Bulpitt, David Woodson of Springfield, Tammy Standage of Taylorville, and Jenny Woodson of Taylorville; brothers: Dale Moscardelli of Chatham, and Billy Moscardelli of New Mexico; sisters: Sally Moscardelli of Arizona, Sandy Powell of Virden, and Dorothy McCan of Williamsville; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings: Larry Moscardelli, Victor Moscardelli Jr., and Rose Moscardelli.
