Nathan Andrew Miller, 40 of Springfield, IL formerly of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10:50 a.m. at his home in Springfield, IL. He was born on September 5, 1980 in Taylorville, IL the son of Ronald and Kathleen (Rath) Miller. Nathan worked as an assembler at Logan-Mason in Lincoln, IL and was a client of SPARC in Springfield. He loved to cook, watch movies and play video games.

He is survived by his Parents: Ronald Miller of Bath Springs, TN and Kathleen Moore; Aunts: Helen Franklin and Jane (Dean) Long both of Taylorville, IL; Pat Mathias, Mary White both of Beachers City, IL; Uncles: Jack (Martha) Miller of Murray, KY; Sharol Miller Jr. of Brownstown, IL; David Milller of Holladay, TN several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Brother: Colin Miller.

Michelle Fuchs, 57, of O’Fallon, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh.

Michelle was born September 29, 1963 in Evergreen Park, the daughter of Richard J. and Lorraine (Stripeik) Luczak. She married Richard Fuchs on June 21, 1989 in Morrisonville.

Michelle graduated from Morrisonville High School with the class of 1981, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. While in college, she proudly served 6 years in the Illinois Air National Guard. Michelle worked as a chemist for many companies in the St. Louis area, before gaining employment with Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she was currently employed as a Production Supervisor in biopharmaceuticals. She was an excellent vegan chef, and had a talent for crocheting. Michelle used her talent to make many afghans over the years for her family members. Most of all, she enjoyed traveling and taking walks daily with Richard. Michelle was a long-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Luczak; brother, Rick Luczak; and brother-in-law, Don Deal.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Richard Fuchs of O’Fallon; father, Richard J. Luczak of Taylorville; sister, Carmen Luczak of Raymond; brothers, Louie (wife, Shirl) of Florence, OR, Tom (wife, Laurie) of Aiea, HI, and Pete Luczak of Springfield; brother-in-law, Robert (wife, Beth) Fuchs of Morrisonville; sister-in-law, Judy Deal of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation & Funeral Mass: The family will receive guests from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at St. Maurice Catholic Church, 706 SE 4^th Street, Morrisonville, IL 62546, with Rev. Carl E. “Doc” Mortland, 77 of Taylorville, passed away at 5:36am on Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on May 21, 1943 in Bloomington, the son of Harvey and Maxine (Whitehouse) Mortland. He married Connie Kastelic on August 3, 1984 in Pana. Doc was a graduate of Moore High School in Farmer City and Bailey Tech in St. Louis. Prior to retirement, Doc was co-owner and operator of Prairieland Fertilizer in Stonington. Doc served in the Illinois Army National Guard and was a proud Mason and Shriner. As a member of the Ansar Shriner’s Tractor Club, he enjoyed driving his antique Oliver 70 in community parades. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW. Doc was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, gardening, and rooting for the Cubs. He loved to cook and barbeque, always eager to try new recipes and share his creations with family and friends. He looked forward to playing cards with his friends and his daily visit to TFC to chat with the guys. Doc never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and genuinely enjoyed life. His favorite motto was “If it is to be, it’s up to me”. Doc will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Virginia (Lubic) Mazzotti passed away on March 10, 2021 in Ft. Myers, Florida. Ginny (whose stage name was Ginny Scott) was the daughter of Steven and Ann Lubic. She was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania on October 26, 1927 and lived many years in Gross Point, Michigan. Most of her career was spent in Las Vegas where she was the opening act for many famous performers including Danny Thomas, George Goebel, Shelby Greene, Henry Youngman, Bob Hope, and Mickey Rooney. She also spent some years in Chicago until she met and married Rene Mazzotti in 1957. After Rene passed away in 1973, she moved to Ft. Myers, Florida where she resided until her death.

She leaves behind her stepsons: Jack (Jayne) Mazzotti and their children: Anthony(Michelle) and Erica, and grandchildren: Rory and Molly, and Richard (Jerri) Mazzotti and their daughters: Ann and Lisa, and grandchildren: Kiersten, Kendall, and Peyten; and very special friend: Mary Wiseman of Ft. Myers.

Mrs. Mazzotti was cremated, and a memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, March 27 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. James A. “Jim” Noren, 90, of Taylorville, passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2020 at Heritage Manor in Pana.

Jim was born in Taylorville, the son of Frank and Mary (Bailey) Noren. He married Mary Ann Reish on September 16, 1949 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2018

Jim graduated from Taylorville High School with the class of 1949. He worked his entire career for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1992. Jim went on to serve as Alderman of Ward 2 for eight years, and was then elected Mayor of Taylorville, where he served from 1989-1993. He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and a past-member of several local organizations. In his free time, Jim enjoyed traveling and fishing.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dane “Poncho” Miller and Kevin F. Noren; sisters, Johanna Daughtery and Barbara Pelati; and brothers, Ted, Bill, and Lindy Noren.

Jim is survived by his son, Richard J. Daniel D. McConnell, 67 of Edinburg passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 5:07 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on December 8, 1953 in Springfield, IL the son of Robert and Louise (Coffey) McConnell. He married Patricia J. Davidson in 1979 in Decatur, IL. Danny graduated Edinburg High School. Shortly thereafter he began working at Borg-Warner in Decatur where he met his wife Patty. He had several other careers before beginning a 15+ year long career at Dekalb.  He loved taking grandkids fishing, hunting for night crawlers, teaching them how to garden, and take care of his beloved labradors. He was a great gardener, grew the biggest vegetables around. His pumpkins grew so big needed a tractor to move them for the kids to play on at the Annual McConnell Woodsplitting Cookout. 
He is survived by his Wife: Patty McConnell of Edinburg, IL; Daughter: Mindy Barnett of Decatur, IL; Son: Brent Barnett of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Sydney, Samantha and Brinley Barnett; Sisters: Sharon (Ron) Sutzer of Chatham, IL, Mardell (Melinda) McConnell of Carlinville, IL; Brothers: Bobby (Toni) McConnell of Oklahoma, Gary (Debbie) McConnell of Kincaid, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Steven E. Donaldson, 55 of Taylorville, passed away peacefully at 2:18pm on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on June 5, 1965 in Taylorville, the son of Eugene F. and Sandra M. (Rich) Donaldson.  He married Krissy L. Eson on July 22, 2016.  Steve graduated from Taylorville High School and owned Steve Donaldson Construction Company.  He was a talented craftsman, and his craftsmanship will live on in countless projects he has completed throughout the years.  Steve loved baseball and coached many of his sons’ little league teams when they were young.  He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks.  More than anything he loved spending time with his family.  
He is survived by his wife: Krissy Donaldson of Taylorville; sons: Zachary (Victoria) Donaldson, Ryan Donaldson, Taylor Donaldson, and Kane Johnson; 4 grandchildren; parents: Eugene and Sandra Donaldson of Taylorville; and siblings: Jacqueline (Don) Zlaty of Indiana, Sarah (Mike) Vice and Greg (Barb) Donaldson both of Taylorville.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Eugene and Elizabeth Donaldson and Wayne and Jacqueline Rich and brother: Scott Andrew Donaldson.
A private family funeral was held at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. Delores Marie Wise, 88 of Taylorville passed from this life at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, March 19^th, 2021 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born August 9, 1932, in Mulberry Grove, Illinois the daughter of Kenneth & Mary Koonce. She married Clarence “Smiley” Wise on March 4, 1949 in Clinton, IL. He preceded her in death January 9, 2003.

Mrs. Wise became a rising star as she began her 25-year career as an Avon Representative earning her accolades and awards from the organization. Those who knew her loved her, as she was kind, humble, and a great conversationalist. She was a member of Kincaid Baptist Church where she served as Financial Secretary for many years. Later in life she would learn to play the organ and would play at church and also served as a choir member alongside her husband. Her greatest love was her family and her love of bingo with her friends.

Surviving are her children: Richie Wise (wife, Vickie) of MI, Rita Phillips (husband, Gary) of WA, Rose Scott (late Larry Scott Sr.) of IL; Terri Latham (husband, Robert) of TX; Karen Paz (husband, John) of TX; Janet Crowder (husband, Dennis) of IL; Darla Gatton of IL; and a great many grand, great grand, step grand and step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. David Keith Carlton, 88 of Taylorville, passed away at 3:50pm on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family, whom he loved so much. He was born on May 3, 1932, the son of Herman Keith and Alice Minette (Schmidt) Carlton. He married Geraldine Anita Payne on August 23, 1953 in Owaneco, and she preceded him in death on November 27, 1985. On July 3, 1987 he married Mary Louise (Daggett) Adams in Cannon Beach, Oregon and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2011. David was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Arkansas, Indiana, and Japan during the Korean Conflict as Secretary to the General in Headquarters IX Corps. David grew up on the family farm in rural Owaneco and graduated from Taylorville High School in 1950 and from Asbury University in 1954. He attended the University of Illinois where he earned a master’s degree. David served as principal for 34 years first at Brushy Branch School, and later West Elementary School in Taylorville. Saying he loved his West School family is an understatement. He took great pride in each, and every accomplishment of any member of his school family that made West the Best. Following retirement, David and Mary Lou moved to Colorado where they enjoyed many wonderful years together entertaining friends and family who came to visit. He was a member of the Owaneco and Taylorville United Methodist Churches as well as the Taylorville First Presbyterian and Cheyenne Mountain Presbyterian Church in Colorado. David always had a strong faith, and close relationship with God. It showed in his love for his family, friends, teachers, and students. He was a charter member of the Taylorville Optimist Club. In his free time, he enjoyed working on counted cross stitch projects. It gave him great joy to give these as gifts to people that meant so much to him. He later knitted many caps that he donated to charities or gave as gifts just to get a smile from a loved one or acquaintance. David learned to play the piano by ear at an early age and used his talent to serve as an accompanist for many Taylorville Music Festivals and school events. He also enjoyed playing games, especially Bridge, traveling, cooking and entertaining friends and family.

He is survived by his children: Douglas Wayne Carlton of Champaign, and Nancy Lee Landry (Brian) of Springfield; stepchildren: Suzanne Roland (David), Cindy Simonsen (Rory), and Steven Adams (Kathy); grandchildren: Henry Carlton, Ben Carlton, Phillip Bliler, Jennifer Dammerman, and Jill Hedden; step grandchildren: Sarah Peterson, Gabriel Conrad, Ryan Adams, Breanne Kennedy, and Rachel Adams; 8 great grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives, infant sister: Mary Louise Carlton, and sister: Christine Diss.

Mr. Carlton will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville with Rev. Nic Showalter officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00am, for two hours prior to the service in the church. Following the memorial service, friends and family are invited to gather at Manner’s Park Dining Hall to continue the celebration of David’s life. Doris Lorraine Hayes Wilcox, 97, of Palmer, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Doris was born on September 1, 1923 in Palmer, to Lee Eldon and Gladys Leah (Hewitt) Hayes. As a girl, Doris had a pony and travelled around the village with her friends. They often built campfires and fried potatoes. Palmer High School ended at eleventh grade. Doris then attended, and graduated from Taylorville High School with the Class of 1941. Her comment about this move was that she, “became a little duck on a big pond.”

Following high school, Doris attended Brown’s Business College in Springfield, while her family lived on a farm on the southeast edge of Springfield. She joined the Alpha Iota Sorority. While the men were away in the service, twelve of the girls formed a group that they called “Gusto”. These twelve Gusto Girls continued to meet every month until just a few years ago. Doris was the last surviving member.

After graduating from Brown’s, Doris rode the “Traction” to the Illiopolis Munitions Plant, working in the personnel department. When the plant was closed, Doris’ department was the last to leave. Since no one was there to take her identity badge, she was one of the very few allowed to keep hers.

On December 14, 1946 Doris and Warren Reed Wilcox were married at Davis Memorial Church in Taylorville. They had been sweethearts since they were fifteen years old. Before beginning their life-long job of farming, Warren worked as a carpenter, and Doris worked at Hummer Manufacturing in Springfield, a business owned by Montgomery Ward.

Doris was a life-long member of the Advent Christian Church in Palmer, holding many positions, including Sunday School and VBS Director, Deaconess and Treasurer, Cub Scout Leader, Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer – a 15+ gallon donor herself. She and Warren were members of the Twist and Twirl Square Dance Group, dancing in many states. She was a member of Christian County Lady Landowners, Christian County Senior Citizens, and the Charlie’s Angels tap dance group. Doris also played pinochle, and was a member of multiple bridge clubs. Her favorite sports teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and the Illini basketball team.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; and her parents.

Doris is survived by her sons, Larry Hayes Wilcox of Springfield, and Bruce Lee Wilcox (Donna) of Palmer; granddaughters, Christy Bloome (Clayton) of Pawnee, Bobbie Harker (Hank) of Palmer, and Laura Ahrens (Andrew) of St. Louis, MO; and great grandchildren, Jacob Bloome (Rachel Dougherty) of Springfield, Rebecca Bloome (Dustin Craig) of Pawnee, and Hayden, Brody, and Elayna Harker, all of Palmer.

William Albert Strumpfer, 67 of Taylorville, passed away at 10:55am on Monday, March 8, 2021 in his home. He was born on January 8, 1954 in Chicago, the son of Stephen and Ruth (Muffick) Strumpfer. William was a veteran of the US Army, a member of American Legion Post #73 and worked as a truck driver for many years. Mr. Strumpfer had a love of life, enjoying rock and roll music, watching movies, and relaxing with friends and family. He even tried sky diving and earned his pilot’s license.

He is survived by his daughter: Jennifer Strumpfer, husband Brendon Swain, of Tucson, Arizona; grandson: Austin Strumpfer; and great granddaughter: Zoe Guerrero; and brother: Lennard D. Strumpfer. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rodney Allan Pickrel, 46 of Harvel, Illinois, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 3:22pm on Friday, March 12, 2021 in his home.  He was born on November 26, 1974 in Springfield.  He married Ashlynn Weller on February 22, 2016 in Hillsboro.  Rodney enjoyed watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers.  He loved spending time outdoors grilling and fishing.  More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Sophia.  
Rodney was preceded in death by his dad: Russell Pickrel Sr. of Springfield and his mom: Debi Cantrall of Coffeen.  He is survived by his wife: Ashlynn Pickrel of Harvel; his dad: Harold (Mary Jane) Cantrall of Harvel; sisters: Jodi (Erik) Rabich of Harvel and Dorreen Dobson of Petersburg; brother: Kenny (Julia) McClure; his children: Cory Pickrel, James Simmons, Rodney Cody, Justice Pickrel (granddaughter, Sophia), and Gage Pickrel; nieces and nephews: Nicholas (Kimberly) Chiti, Sean Skinner, Cheyenne Snyder, Brianna (Bobby) Dixon, and Nathan Chiti; and great nieces and nephews: David, Hailey, Gianna, Dominic, and Aria.  He is also survived by his grandmother: Dorothy Feagans.

Harlan F. “Beetle” Bailey, 66 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 6:39 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on September 12, 1954 in Taylorville, IL the son of Everette Joseph and Florien (Nation) Bailey. He married Karen K. Koss on April 23, 1977 in Effingham, IL. He worked as an associate at Walmart and he served in the United States Army from 1973-1977. Beetle was a member of the Blue Mound Masonic Lodge #682 AF & AM, Ansar Shrine, American Legion Post #73 and VFW Post #4495 both in Taylorville.

Ruth Ann Porter, 75 of Taylorville, passed away at 11:47pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on February 15, 1946 in Breese, Illinois, the daughter of John and Henrietta (Beer) Loepker. She married Richard Dean Porter on July 30, 1966 in Litchfield. Ruth was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Women of the Moose in Taylorville. She worked for several years for the Breeze-Courier. Ruth loved to work outdoors. She spent countless hours tending to her yard and even took over mowing yards for her son when he went to college. Ruth and Dick loved to travel. Together they toured the entire country on the back of a Goldwing. When they were not traveling by motorcycle, they still drove and flew to countless destinations, in later years inviting their granddaughters to join them. Ruth and Dick enjoyed playing blackjack, a pastime that took them on many trips to Las Vegas and Tunica. Above all she adored her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband: Richard “Dick” Porter of Taylorville; children: Dawn Durbin (Marty) of Morrisonville and Jay Porter (Michelle) of Geneva; grandchildren: Jessie Borgic, Marissa Borgic, Shelby Porter, Sarah Porter, and Amelia Durbin; sisters: Bert Nash (Bob) of Oneida, Tennessee, Edna Zika of Edwardsville, and Florence Pry of Bellville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Jeff Porter; brother: Corky Loepker; and sister: Verena Brandt.

Mrs. Nora J. Morris, 87, of Kincaid, IL was called home to her Lord at 5:50 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 from the home of her daughter in Riverton, IL.

She was born in Kincaid, IL December 21, 1933 the daughter of Elwood and Evelyn (Derry) Wolfe. Nora married Alfred E. Morris, Sr on August 25, 1950 in Petersburg, IL. “Big Al” preceded her in death March 7, 1993.

Mrs. Morris was a very loyal member of Kincaid Church of God where she was active with women’s groups and helping prepare meals. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially her grand and great grandchildren. She was a great friend to many.

Surviving are a daughter Cheryl Lynn Fehring of Riverton, IL., a son Robert A. (Tammie) Morris of Kincaid, IL., 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, Sr., a son Al, Jr. in 2010, a daughter Jenelle Brest in 2013, 2 brothers and a sister.

Linda Lou Williams, 75, of Clinton, formerly of Stonington, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Linda was born April 18, 1945 in Carmi, the daughter of Martin T. and Eloise Esther (Hall) Majors. She married Jerry Dean Williams on June 9, 1962 in Calvin, IL. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2019.

Linda was a homemaker, and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Stonington. She enjoyed crocheting and word searches, and she was an avid reader. Above all, Linda devoted her life to her family, and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; grandsons, Michael Williams, Jr. and Sheldon Snyder; twin brother, Thomas Majors; and sister, Janet Majors.

Linda is survived by her children, Timothy Dean Williams of Stonington, Kimberly Kay (Leroy) Snyder of Kenney, Michael Todd (Jennifer) Williams, Sr. of Carmi, Deborah Ann (Greg) Tungate of Lincoln, and Crystal Diane (Kenny) Holt of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Robert William (Evelyn) Majors of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

John C. Curtin, 85 of Taylorville, passed away at 4:10am on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in his home. He was born on March 20, 1935 in Taylorville, the son of Lawrence Frederick and Marie Ellen (Colbrook) Curtin. He married Alice Faye Carpenter on February 9, 1957 and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2020. John graduated from Stonington High School in 1952 and attended Notre Dame University prior to graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Animal Science. John was a lifelong farmer in Christian County starting in 1957. His passion for raising cattle began at a young age, but extended well beyond the family farm. He judged livestock at numerous county fairs throughout Illinois and served as the Cattle Superintendent at the Illinois State Fair for 12 years. He was a member of the board of the American Angus Association and board member and past president of the Illinois Angus Association. John was recognized by Prairie Farmer in 1984 with the designation of Master Farmer. John had a deep sense of community service and served on the Christian County Board for almost 40 years, serving in the role of Chairman for a total of 19 years. His greatest accomplishment during his tenure on the County Board was overseeing the restoration of the Christian County Courthouse including the complete renovation of the historic stained-glass dome. In 1993-1994 John served as the President of the Illinois Association of County Officials. John was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, serving the church in numerous roles including starting the annual steak dinner fundraiser, a tradition that continues some 60 plus years later. John was awarded the lifetime achievement award by the Taylorville Chamber of Commerce in recognition of all he did for Christian County. Above all John loved his family. John and Alice loved to attend any game or activity their grandchildren were involved in. Together, they enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and attending St. Louis Cardinals games. John leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.

He is survived by his: children: Fred Curtin and Chuck Curtin both of Stonington, Beth Vincent (Glenn) of Mt. Auburn, Mary May of Taylorville, Cathy Wernsing (Mitch) of Rochester, and Jim Curtin (Shelly) of Taylorville; 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; brothers: Larry Curtin of Taylorville and Paul Curtin (Gail) of Lisle; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings: Catherine Trueblood, Leo Curtin, William Curtin, and Dorothy Tracy.

The visitation for Mr. Curtin will be held from 10am until 12noon on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington. A funeral mass will take place immediately following the visitation on Monday with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. All health department guidelines will be followed limiting the number of people allowed in the church at a time, and masks are highly encouraged. Ashley Marie Karaianis-Lucas, 24 of Decatur formerly of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 10:23 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on December 26, 1996 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Betty Karaianis and Rick Reid and raised by Delores Lucas and Jennifer Verardi. She worked as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist at Crossings in Decatur and she also served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps.

She is survived by her parents: Betty Karaianis and Rick Reid; Aunt: Jennifer (Nick) Verardi of Langleyville, IL; Twin-Sister: Sara (Jamie) Ibarra of San Diego, CA; Cousins: Victoria and Vinny Verardi who she considered her siblings and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers: Delores Lucas and Geraldine Drnjevic.

Russell N. Reindl, 92, of Nokomis, passed away at 8:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at his residence.

Russell was born June 28, 1928 in Mt. Auburn, the son of Roy and Hallie (Pumphrey) Reindl. He married Mary Daugherty and they had two sons, and later divorced. Russell then married Isabelle I. Miller, and she preceded him in death on March 6, 1983.

Russell proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, and one of his proudest moments was being able to participate in the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight commemorating his service. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for Allis Chalmers, before spending decades in the Television Service Industry. He began working for Springfield T.V. Service, before retiring from his own business, Reindl T.V. Service, after 43 years. Russell was a long-time member of the Christian Church of Witt. In his free time, he enjoyed remodeling homes for family and friends, as well as resale.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Lee Reindl; and all 11 of his siblings.

Russell is survived by his son, Stephen (wife, Tammy) Reindl of Taylorville; 3 grandchildren, Mary Henderson of Champaign, and Reeves and Rogan Reindl of Taylorville; great granddaughter, Stella Henderson; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Cox officiating.

Robert M. Noreuil, 78 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 6:45 a.m. at his daughter’s home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on May 27, 1942 in Tovey, IL the youngest son of Oscar and Celine (Mathieu) Noreuil. He married Judith Tomei on May 25, 1964 in Taylorville, IL. Robert worked as a machine operator for Allis Chalmers and later at Georgia Pacific for over 25 years. He was a veteran who served his country in the US Army from 1966-68. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, watching Western movies and listening to his favorite singer, Elvis Presley. He was a loving dad and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his Wife: Judith Noreuil of Taylorville, IL; Daughter: Gina (David) Schmitz of Taylorville, IL; Son: Robert (Shannon) Noreuil of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Stephanie Schmitz (Fiancé Ryan Miles) of Milton, FL, Angela Schmitz, Jeff Schmitz, Averi Noreuil and Ashton Noreuil all of Taylorville, IL; Brother: Tom Noreuil of Kincaid, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Linda Brachear Poggenpohl, of Morrisonville, passed away on March 7, 2021, in her home surrounded by her children.  

Linda was born in Morrisonville, Illinois, on May 3, 1937, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Carter Ewig.  She married Roy Brachear on August 23, 1959, in Morrisonville.  He preceded her in death on September 15, 1977.  She married Robert Poggenpohl on January 1, 1982.  He passed away on December 25, 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Cathy) of Ashmore, IL, and Douglas (Jamie, and her children, Zac and Amanda) of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Janet (Carl) Walch, of Raymond, IL; three grandsons, Andy (Victoria) Brachear, Tyler Walch, and Karter Brachear; three granddaughters, Kerri (Matt) Murphy, Kylie Walch, and Kassie (Gus) Gibbs. She also leaves a sister, Ruth Hopper; brother-in-law, Howard (Donna) Brachear; many nieces and nephews; and two stepsons, Russell and Bruce Poggenpohl of Raymond, and their families.

Linda lived most of her life in Morrisonville. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  

Linda was the #1 fan of each grandchild attending every event possible, including Lincolnwood Lancer baseball, volleyball, and all cheerleading events, Charleston Trojan swimming, and Taylorville Tornado football and wrestling as well as powerlifting events throughout the U.S. Her seat of choice was front and center so she could offer her unwavering support to her grandchildren and assistance to the referees when necessary.  Her schedule included Canasta games on Tuesday evenings and Pinochle on Friday nights as well as anytime friends were available. Rummikub and Dominoes with children and grandchildren brought out her competitive spirit, quick wit, and occasional sarcasm.  

Linda also enjoyed yachting (Alton Belle) and cruises with her sister, Ruth, Happy Hour at Steak-N-Shake, and numerous trips to Las Vegas.  

Visitation: Her family will meet friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville. In accordance with Linda’s wishes cremation rites were accorded.

Lorraine Luczak, 84, of Taylorville, formerly of Morrisonville, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Taylorville Care Center.

Lorraine was born August 23, 1936 in Chicago, the daughter of Adam J. and Dorothy M. (Thompson) Stripeik. She married Richard J. “Dick” Luczak on April 30, 1960 in Stickney (now Burbank).

Lorraine graduated from the Little Company of Mary School of Nursing in Evergreen Park in 1958, and worked her entire career as a registered nurse, eventually retiring from St. Vincent’s Memorial Hospital in Taylorville in 1985. Upon her retirement, she co-owned and helped operate, with her husband, Sarge’s Country Pub and Eatery in Morrisonville until 1995. Lorraine was a long-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Luczak; and sister, Virginia Burgin.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Richard of Taylorville; daughters, Carmen Luczak of Raymond, Michelle (husband, Richard) Fuchs of O’Fallon; sons, Louie (wife, Shirl) of Florence, OR, Tom (wife, Laurie) of Aiea, HI, and Pete Luczak of Springfield; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; siblings, Judy (husband, Fred) Sterling of Palos Hills, and Bill (wife, Jean) Stripeik of Mokena; and several nieces and nephews.

Julie Ann Brown, 63 of Taylorville, passed away at 4:46pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on February 9, 1958 in Taylorville, the daughter of Evan and Esther (Dozier) Thomas.  Julie married Robert “Bob” Brown on September 16, 1977 in Taylorville.  She was a 1976 graduate of Stonington High School. Julie later attended Sparks College in Shelbyville where she earned her court reporting degree, completing the program in 1997.  Julie had a great love of music and was an accomplished pianist.  She took lessons at Millikin University at a young age and shared her talent by performing at recitals all around the area.  She appreciated nearly all genres of music. Julie was an animal lover and had several cats and dogs over the years.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  From spending time at lake lots, to holiday weekends she loved celebrations.  Christmas was always a special time for her.  She took a lot of pride in decorating the perfect tree and making the holiday special for her family.  She enjoyed watching birds, especially the hummingbirds that she fed in her yard.  Julie enjoyed adult coloring books, and loved games of all types including cards, pinball, and arcade games.  She had a true love of taking long rides, most recently in her prized blue Ford Mustang GT.  

She is survived by her husband: Bob Brown of Taylorville; children: Stephen Brown of Roscoe, Susie Ryan of Stonington, and Danny Brown of Springfield; and grandchildren: Rebecca Brown, Renee Brown, and Maxx Brown.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service for Julie will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating.  A visitation will be held from 5 until 7pm on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Memorials in her honor may be made to the American Lung Association.  The use of masks and social distancing are required. Mary Alice Elliott, 89 of Mt. Auburn passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 5:03 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born on March 18, 1931 in Bement, IL the daughter of Hester Ann (West) and John Vincent. She married Harry W. Elliott on April 14, 1951 in Mt.
